Of course Nigerian politicians are synonimous with looting. And Nigerians know this. |
@prince_onx Thank you bro. That woman don't know what she want. |
Why do you need to be saved anywhere?. The only saving I believe Africans need is saving from slavery & colonial mentality. |
@junnymercy I've read your post. Anything else you want me understand is not in the post. You said you want to get married because your friends are doing it. Isn't it?. Just walk into a court, sign some papers and obtain your wedding certificate. Or you both go to your families and attest you're married and he will pay your bride price. It's as simple as that. |
If your story is tue then you have no problem at all. But why do you need the wedding anywhere after 4 kids?. Because you can't realistically need a wedding because your friends did. That's very childish reasoning. What do I mean?. If the only reason you need the wedding is because of your friends then you're not serious. Solution. If you want to officially get married without attracting undue attention, all you need do is walk into a court and attest you want to be married with your man, sign some documents and obtain a court issued wedding certificate. Alternatively, have your man to go to your family and say he's married to you or wants to marry you. Then perform the traditional rites. The bride price could be paid in cash these days and nobody will know about the wedding exept the groom and bride's family. A friend of mine got maried in 2008, he simply collected a bill from the wife's family of all the sundry items to be bought and he paid cash. The only time you will run into situations you may find uncomfortable according to your story is when you go church wedding. |
It's long over due. It will strenghten the sense of nationalism and every one will feel a sense of belonging no matter what part of the country you're established. Nigeria used to be that way until ethnicity destroyed us. I heard people from SE once upon a time won chairmanship and councillor elections in the SW in the 60's and 70's. And it's still that way in prosperous countries like the USA. Infact, an Igbo man was once serving as a councillor in a U.S state, I forgot the state. I also heard a Yoruba man won some elective seat in a UK municipal. So, if an Igbo man and a Yoruba man can do that overseas; why can't we take a lesson here?. |
If you're talking of who is a better musician it's 2face of course!. But if you're talking about who is a bigger star that's debatable. |
It would be goodnews as long as people like Farouk Lawan & Co get killed. I heard Farouk is still taking his salary and sundry allowances till today. |
@pro01 Your argument have ironically proved against the point you intended to make and rather proved the ponit that Africa's backwardness was caused by the west. How?. You cited South Africa's development as model of what the rest of Africa should have been if British rule continued in Africa. Well, let me tell you why South Africa is that way. After the rest of Africa had their independence the whites never believed whiteman rule will end in South Africa. So they carved out a niche for themselves in that country and stoped looting South Africa's resources to Europe. Instead they sincerely started developing South Africa for good not knowing apatheid would come to an end. This is not what happended in the rest of Africa. British stay in other parts of Africa was all about looting the countries dry while developing Europe. That's why other parts did't get as much development as South Africa. Let us also differenciate colonialism and slavery. Slavery I believe is what dealt the real big blow to Africa. And I will like you to know America, Korea, India and all the other countries you cited never tasted slavery like Africa!. Slavery caused Africa miss important era in human developtment; the renissance era, industrial revolution, e.t.c. We missed on science because our language was banned. You can't perfect in sciences in a language that's not your mother's tongue. You can but only to an extent. Therefore, we could not catch up with the rest of the world technologically till date. |
I' am very happy to have read this thread. Finally, I will be music. |
@DINGO PROUD-IGBO is not against Rochas achievements. He is in support of Rochas as well as you do. He used sarcasm; what comedians (Alibaba, Basket mouth) e.t.c use when on stage. Please check your dictionary for sarcacism you will understand. |
@OP Nice post. I nearly got carried away by the being able to interact in English with Indian argument until I read the rest of the post. I then realized that argument is lazy. How do English people interact with their neigbouring Dutch?. How do they interact with the Germans?. How do they interact with the French?. BRITISH MAN DID NOT BRING ANYTHING GOOD TO AFRICA. English & French language is a disaster to Africa!. This is the real reason we cannot develope scientifically and therefore economically. Yes, and economically. Let me tell you why. Science subjects namely; PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY e.t.c. Are all natural. You don't need to speak English to be a scientist. You don't need to speak English or French to build cars and aeroplanes. All you need do is understand sciencies. You could be Albert Eisten in any languge. African schools should start teaching science subjects in our mother's tongue. That's the only way science subjects would be learnt naturally for our own good. I don't need to talk much, just look at Russia, Japan, China, Germany e.t.c. They do not need to speak English to go to the moon!. These societies have their own language and study sciences in their own terms. For example; they know what TRIOXONITRIC ACID is called in their own language. Who can tell me what TRIOXONITRIC ACID is called in any African language??. Even African professors of Chemistry don't know what it's called in their language. Yet, it's a naturally occuring substance. Get my point?. That's why the above countries understand sciencies and how to make the products we buy. A country cannot develope without technology and industries and you cannot best understand sciences in foreign language. That's the only reason the west are doing better than Africa. Let me give you one live example which is happening today. The hotest place in the world are all countries located in the tropics I mean Sahara desert here in Africa. These countries if they learnt sciences naturally on their own would have lead technological advancement in the solar industry because they get the most sun light. But what happens today?. These countries have to wait for the above countries in temperate (cold) region to manufacture solar panels for them. What a shame!. English & French is the reason Africa is backward. |
This is a good move. And those sympathizing with mosques you don't have to worry because taxes are paid based on how much you earn. The higher you earn the more you pay, and the lower you earn the less you pay. Problem is the so called men of God will resort to telling lies about their income if this becomes law. |
@seanet01 As dual core said, your clicks wouldn't matter if Deziani is advertising per impression. Google will simply charge her per how many times her advert is shown on websites rather than how many times it's being clicked. I presume it's on per impression otherwise it wouldn't be everywhere. So no matter how many times you change your IP to click on the ad you're just wasting your time, it wouldn't increase her bills. But I know how it could be done though. |
Judge: Guilty or not guilty?. Nigeria: Guilty |
What evidence do you need again about MTN scams when the regulatory body NCC have banned them from scamming Nigerians?. But to be honest, it's not only MTN all the GSM networks are just as guilty. Just that MTN have more subscribers. They don't have more subscribers because they offer better service but because they were one of the first in the industry. As more competition come in from rival networks you will find in future other networks will close the subsciber % gap. I recently switched from MTN to airtel for the first time and I can tell you honestly airtel is better at least for browsing the internet. |
@ballabrigs Yeah, I watched that interview between GEJ and Aisha Sesey on CNN and I was ashamed to look at my TV sceen. Jonathan was visibly shaking and breathing like someone who ran a marathon before the interview. Even the girl was suprised at Jonathan's ineptitude. That day, I was so ashamed of Jonathan as my president. |
Simply put Nigerian courts themselves are corrupt. Don't be suprised the judges have been paid by the thieves and are colluding with them to delay cases. Afterall it's a known fact Nigerian police supply guns to armed robbers. Corruption is a way of life in Nigeria!. |
The adoption of English and French language in Africa is the reason Africa is not doing well economically. You may not believe it but it's true. |
I've been hearing about this supposedly fast GLO 1 cable for many years without any network improvement to show for it. It appears it all happens on Radio, Paper and TV. |
I never believed dearly the saying ''a society deserves the type of leadership it gets'' until today. Nigerians are fools ruled by fools!!. Otherwise, what we should be asking today is; What did Manitoba hydro do to correct the anormalies??. My friends, money have exchanged hands!. Someone have received a huge bribe money!. |
@styno MTN is running a scam through their sister company Multichoice DSTV that's why when you call they keep you waiting forever. As you noticed, they have added a long advert to keep you wating for more to make sure you are scammed off all your call credit any time you call them. And they will NEVER call you back if there's a disconnection. |
@ow11 You're right!. And that's all part of pay-as-you-go. There have to be more flexibility in the subscibtion choices which is what CPC is calling for. All these could be implemented within 24 hours if they want. |
Multichoice DSTV; a very dictatorial company is a group company part of MTN. The two companies are one and the same and their modus operandi is the same also. They both scam their customers at any slightest chance. I've long switched off from them. Can you imagine I paid them 1 year subscribtion and got 11 months?. Efforts to get the remaining 1 month failed so I switched off my subscribtion ever since. |
@Thayay No, DSTV is not a different company than MTN rather it's a group of company. MTN and multichoice DSTV is one entity. Example; Dangote group have many companies but they all belong to same person. |
To those of you trying to explain this scientifically I don't understand why you put all your trust in science. Why must I trust science an invention by imperfect man?. You said science have proof for near death experience, and then?. Is that why I should believe you because you said science have proof for it?. Let me tell you; science itself is a heap of corrected mistakes and should not be relied upon at all times. This is why you still have plane crash despite billions $ in scientific research. Man's knowledge is limited it's not infinite. I have never seen a ghost but will never believe you that ghost don't exist because you said science say so. My mother told me she saw a ghost when she was a young girl. Well, I believe her because she have no reason to tell me a lie. Science have nothing to offer as long as this thread concerned. |
Your question is not very clear. But as far as I understand it the No.1 reason small businesses fail in Nigeria is poor electricity supply. Every business have one thing or the other to do with electricity. Second reason is Nigeria banks don't give loan facilities to small startups. So, even if you have a good idea your business may not succeed because Nigeria banks can only deal with established businesses..... inshort (the rich). Why businesses don't grow to the likes of coca-cola is another question. Coca-cola is not a small business. |
Nigeria itself is such a frustrating place. It's hard to remain polite in such a society. Just check out the type of comments you see daily here on Nairaland. |
I will give it to Abuja. But Lagos would have been the best if not for it's over population. Not over population in itself though but the resultant bad traffic, noise, restlessness and polution it brings. I think I will have to visit Enugu any time I travel to the East, I have an urge to visit as a result of this thread. And I wouldn't mind relocating to any Nigerian city that can guaranty me 12 hours supply of electricity a day. |
Your country that can't afford to give you subsidy on petrol?. And you want monthly allowance?. Dream on!!. |
Good!!. Those of you saying it's unsustainable you don't know what you are talking about. That's a peanut and if Imo state can do it then every other state can do it as long as there's the will by the state governor. I' am aware each state get about N4 billion from federal government monthly. That's not talking of how much the states themselves make. Nigerians what do you want !!!!!!. |
This is all part of the game of corruption now perfected by Jonathan. The presidency simply wanted to threaten Manitoba hydro to part with some bribe money. That bidding started during previous administrations so Manitoba hydro is yet to ''shandi'' Jonathan. Jonathan have been missing on the bribe fees. Now, it appears Jonathan admin must frighten Manitoba hydro to part with some huge bribe money before allowing them to operate. Once they do so they will suddenly re-gain the contract and all the noise about due process will die. That's how corrupt it gets in Nigeria. |
