[quote author=fidelia.john]Ms Nas, after God na you o. You are too much dear.
Today marks exactly 10days that I was delayed, I thank God today the story has changed. Here is my testimony.
Me:Good Morning Ma
Vo: Morning

Me: yes Ma, for my masters degree in computer Sci
Vo: wen did u graduate
Me: 2009
VO: wat have u being doing since then
Me: I went for my nysc in 2010 and I was retained where I did my ppa which is a univ.
VO: Ok, who is sponsoring you?
Me: My uncle
VO: Why ur uncle?
Me: I’ve be staying with him since wen I was young because as at then he has no child of his own but thank God he have a baby boy now
VO: Do u ve is statement?
Me: Yes (I then pass it to her). I was still holding a statement of account in my hand
Vo: Which statemt are u having there
Me: Mine, the one I saved out of my little income
Vo: Let me see it
I passed it to her. Then she started typing ooo and then here comes the statement I have been waiting to hear, your visa has being approve….
She dey tell me how I go take flight to my school, my mind no dey dere again since she has said the important thing I wanted to hear.
I really appreciate every1 for their support and encouragement. Winbyforce, Ojap, BigFrancis, Imperiouxx ,GboyegaD and all the Gurus in the house. You people are great.

zynnnie: Got my visa approved today. I couldn't sleep last night and I got to the embassy by 6.30am and the whole security check was annoying. The chair movement was exhausting. After the thump prints I was chilling and saw them bounce a lot of pple esp conference attenders. the Asian guy was OK but will drill u, window 2 was a smiling dragon. Smiling and bouncing ur arse. My interview went like this . I was interviewed by the black woman.

I was only Seeing her mouth move and the confident spirit over took mi I said. Sorry madam I can't hear u
VO: apologising and increasing the mic.

VO: when did you graduate
ME: 2009, studied law in Madonna university

VO: ohh lawyer, so what have you been doing since then
ME: I went to NYSC and served in XYZ oil coy in Lagos, then proceeded to law school in Lagos in 2011, then got a job as an associate in law firm and praticed for one year, then left for xyz bank in 2012...

VO: hmmmmm you seem to everywhere
Me: yes I move with the economy of the country.

VO : so what do u do now
Me: I was with xyz bank untill may when I resigned. I worked with the HOUR dept so I got first hand information about sacking of contract workers and since I was a contract worker I honourably resigned before they could sack me. the works ave been sacked and are on d streets with ply card protesting.

VO: so u r a protester
Me: no, I resigned. I was not sacked. Am not aggrieved at all.
VOsadsmiling) that's OK.
Who is your sponsor
Me: my uncle

VO: Why not your parent: my kids brother got admission in Uk for January so they will sponsor him, besides their priority for me is marriage. But I want to quickly get my masters before marriage will interrupt it.

VO: (smiling) parents and marriage she murmured.
So why will your uncle sponsor you, doesn't he have kids:
Me: his kids are still little and besides I just recently discorved 12 ghost workers in his company, so he is indeed grateful and wants Me to d coy's handle HR.

VO: do u ave any exam for this admission
Me: am to sit for English classes when I get to school and GRE was waived for me cos of my work experience and post graduate certification. But I wrote the exams though ( hallelujah she didn't ask for the score cos it was too low)

VO: passing a doc (my heart skipped) she said in case u ave any problems in USA pls call this number and collect ur passport on Tuesday in VI.

ME: thank you.

Out of the whole library that I went with, she didn't ask for anything document, no statement, sponsor letter or even the name of my school.
beyond excited.
I think the first three question and answer gave mi my visa. She was impressed.

Thank God I cancelled by inital interview when I stumbled on this thread last month. I was not ready. I read the thread and applied for emergency date. I prepared well and I got it. May God be praised.

I appreciate and love you guys for the selfless job u do on here.

On to the next plan. The cheapest flight to JFK.
Congrats dear! Cheers to you! Seems that Asian decided to find God afterall. He was denying like crazy before grin

FIZIK: I travelled down to Seme a few days back to pay my SEVIS fee. Unless I skipped that part of the thread, It is needful to note that if others experience are as vivid as mine, then we need to devise ways of checkmating those extortionate officers at the border. No plea nor reason appeals to their conscience as it appear to have been peddled to greed. I witnessed them empty a Burkina Faso bound man through Cotonou. Though, I was armed with fore knowlege of such, it wasnt that smooth. Excerpts of my experience follows
Guy, this ur experience get as e be o! cheesy.
Me I didn't expereience any of that o. All I did was wear a normal top and three quarter jeans and sandals. I didn't look scruffy. I carried my phone, passport, drivers' license and school ID (mine doesn't have an expiration date). Got to seme, and asked a bike man to take me to Ecobank, he said he wants 1K I was like "you chop craze ni? Na 3H I get o" As the guy see say I dey waka, he called me. Jumped on the bike and when we reached the first check, the Immigration guy asked for ID, I gave him my school's.
The bike man carried me through a short cut (inside the market) and within 2 mins I was there.
When I was coming back, the guy that I changed money with asked me to give him my N250 change so that he can carry me back. I obliged and off we went. He took another route entirely and I didn't mind. We got to one local checkpoint sha and the guy manning the post told me to give him N100 as if it was his right. I blatantly refused, after a while...he let us go.
The bike guy dropped me and I tool a bus N350 to Mile 2. Shikena grin grin

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by MsNas(f):
Flynbird...how many days does GIEVA give? Is it not 5 working days? If you can't risk that, I'll suggest u head to Seme border. I paid mine there on the 12th of June, printed my receipt on the 13th (the next day). Its up to you now smiley

zynnnie: am not a guru on here but you sound unserious and highly distracted. Two opportunities in the finest school down here and you can't graduate, you need sth very authentic other than your frequent travelling experience as a reason for wanting to continue abroad.
My advice finish your undergraduate studies. One step at a time .
Kai! People sha! shocked did you read her write-up atall? She said she left AUN cos of personal reasons (and I'm 100% sure you don't know what those reasons are). She also said she went to Unilag cos she was bidding her time to study at the US!! So where's the unseriousness there? huh undecided You had no right to call her unserious! RedReact: Ms Nas, quantum-wise, in the spirit of Einstein, Erico Fermi, Heisenberg, Paul Dirac, Schrodinger, I say congratulations.
Physicists are just too much because their heads are there.
But one thing I have noticed is that many of our Nigerian physicists are leaving that field; a good friend of mine is planning to leave the field, while I myself have taken a bow out of that line. Saw a physics thread and looks like many are leaving the path of Physics for other fields and recently, we are loosing a vivacious YOU to the world of technical/information science.
One thing I know is this; Physicists are badass crooks blasting and blazing in their fields chosen cos it is in our spirit. I am waiting to see your name on the prestigious "hall of fame" of life.
All the best in your career!!!
Awwww! Thanks so much my Fellow Physicist! grin grin. I tell you, we physicists are all rounders! Maybe its cos Physics is basically the bedrock of the physical sciences wink. True what you said about people abandoning physics sad Most of my classmates are either into communications, IT or Engineering nowsad Either way sha, we balling bro!. What field are you in now? imperiouxx: The sweetest way to live this life to fullest is being good to everyone..... irrespective of status, level or experience.

I'll always be good and concern about everyone..... Though, I don't always expect such in return.

About Vegas, we go as friends, when I get hooked up, I'll forget we came together (bad friend!).... grin grin
Don't mind OjaP jare. We'll go to Vegas and also take up Vivvysparkles offer of coming to Miami. But no girls for anyone of you! I'll be the chaperone grin grin

OjaP: Ask me of a woman who is courageous, who won't give up, who is friendly, book smart, street smart and I will show you Ms Nas.

Starting from you getting your I-20, sharing with me your long-term goals, paying for SEVIS and the Visa interview practise, one could easily tell you know what your onions are and ready to go any length to pursue your dreams.

Even though we didn't get to see more than twice when I was in Nigeria few weeks ago, I still have that memory of discussing with a young and bright damsel. That a lady like you could even bag a BS in Applied Physics in a Nigerian university is also worthy of note. You surely deserve the Visa my dear. Lest I forget, I should also quickly thank you for being part of the function I invited you to while I was in Nigeria, I feel so honored to have you around on that day. Thanks so much.

Ms Nas Today also being the birthday of that special person in your life also means it's going to be double celebration in your house. I wish him happy b'day too. When you get here, please face your studies, get enough certifications in your field, party when you can and leave the rest for God. Always count on me if you need any guidance or help - I gat your back for sure.

Let me also let you know that two things are for sure. First, I will always keep this friendship till Jesus comes. Second, I hope to celebrate with you come 2015 or thereabout at your graduate hooding/commencement. Hold me anytime on this. Also, let me know if you will be coming to the US early, a trip to VEGAS with you won't be a bad idea, and don't worry I won't take you to the strip club.....lol.

Once again, congratulations. I am so proud of you.

Way to go Ms. Nas

TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by MsNas(f):
Okay. So I had my interview at the Lagos Embassy this morning (7:30am).
We did check in, biometrics and all. Sat down waiting for my number to come up,
was number 119 and had a F-1 person before and after me.
I tried as much as possible to be calm, but I was failing miserably in me. I noticed a the black elderly lady in window 5 was giving people time to talk, but she denied quite a few. the Asian guy in window one was denying, tho some of them were justified. There was a guy in full yoruba attire, with cap to match who said he's going to the US for Ogun Festivalgrin grin . He denied the F-1 guy after me, but the Caucasian lady in window 2 was giving at a percentage of 85%. She was smiling and laughing with people sef.
After a while, I noticed that they had skipped my number and had reached number 199! I approached the security and complained, but the guy said I should chill and wait for my turn. But I said no, and he said okay...approach one of the VO's when they're free. I was scared, but I approached the lady in window 2, and she told me to wait till she finishes with the guy in front of her. She called me afterwards....

Me: Good Morning (which a weak smile, I was tired)
VO: oh, good morning Ma'am. Can I have your docs please?
Me: (passes it
VO: why are you going to the US?
Me: For my masters degree in Information Technology.
VO: okayy, nice! (Beams a smile)
So why did you choose this school?
Me: Well asides the fact that the school is affordable for my sponsor (she laughs), I also get to work with Professor Fang, he's published a lot of works in International and American Journals. He's current research topic is similar to mine too. The school curriculum is top-notch as well. I get to do a lot of practicals.
VO: oh wow!! I like. You're tech savvy!
That was when I laughed. I said yeah, something like that.
VO: What did u do for UG?
Me: Physics
VO: Cool!! You must be really smart.
Did u do GRE?
Me: Yes! I took both GRE and TOEFL. (I quickly passed my score reports for her to see)
VO: oh, I see you have good scores here.
How many schools did you apply too?
Me: 4.
VO: Who's sponsoring you?
Me: My father.
VO: what does he do?
Me: He retired as a director at the federal ministry of Works in Abuja. Now he's into importation of Industrial Generators (just like the ones you use here at the embassy), cars and computer from Japan, China and Korea.
VO: Okay. (She didn't ask for my statement of account)
Picks my I-20, and puts it into my passport. I was like, No! No!! No!!! Don't gimme those back! (Inside of me oo)
She brings out pick-up slip, circles Oshodi and said "You can pick up your Visa at Apapa on thursday!

Praise the Lord!!!
Many F-1 Visas were denied tho! It wasn't entirely the VOs fault, some of them couldn't express themselves well(stammering and all) and some of them don't know Jack about what they came there to do
