TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part4 by MsNas(f):
Oya o. Lemme do the chronicles of my travel like other people too did it grin
Journey started Lagos.

Got to the airport early and weighed my bag just in case it might be overweight, boy! I wan cry. One weighed 29KG, one weighed 45KG cheesy I sha offloaded most of the things sha. OjaP called me before we started checkin in. Gisted for sometime fore I had to go.

The customs guys were a pain. One of them, a lady...told me to open my bag. First question she asked was that why u pack so much, na bizness you wan go do? I asked her, "Won't I eat?, why won't I pack food?" She now said okay, give us something. I said I no get anything. She said then you go tey here. I said fine, my flight isn't until 10pm anyways, so delay all you want, just because I didn't give you bribe.

She said ask your people for the money now....and I told her nobody followed me. That was when my uncle decided to spoil the show I was about cooking angry he yelled my name and I had to go meet him, asked me what they wanted and I told him money. He said how much and I said N200. cheesy They didn't ask for 200naira oo, but that wasa what I decided to give her.

My uncle said noo, ur papa has entrusted you in my care, oya take 5K go give them. As God will have it, it was in 500 naira denominations, so I quickly removed one note out of it and kept the rest in my bag. I went back and gave the lady the money sha. And I dashed my sister the rest.
I sha left those ones and checked in my bags, unto immigrations. My uncle already knew one of the immigration officers and they had agreed on a fee of $200 bribe! Like WTF??! As luck will have it, as the guy was perusing the passport and about to stamp it and collect the money, his supervisor came and told him to hurry up. He couldn't collect the money again, I jejely returned it biko.
Passed them at last and I sat down to wait at the lounge. Met one cool Nigerian American, we eventually sat together and gisted all the Way to DC. I chop meatpie for the last time cheesy and around 9:30 we started boarding. The plane was sleek but when we were taking off, the thing dey shake like mad!! Smooth ride to Schiphol. Schipho was fun! Me, my friend from school and the American window shopped ehn. Sprayed different perfumes and took pictures. We went to one cafe like that and bought some funny looking brown bread, super sized cokes and a latte.

After we chop finish, instead of to stand up and go, na I'm we start to dey make jest of the oyinbo people wey dey come buy things. One Olumba Olumba guy, one gothic girl, one fat man, one kid wey I'm shokoto be like something I no know, one slightly fine white man that sat beside us (we concluded he was slightly fine because he had flat yansh and was a little bit thick around the waist)cheesy

We went back to our boarding gate where we sat down to charge our fones and use the Wifi. The Dutch people stingy sha! You can only use their wifi for 30mins for free, if you want to continue using it, yopu have to pay o.
There, we met another Nigerian who was on the same flight with us from Nigeria but going to chicago. She saw me log into NL, and she was like, do you know this place? I said yes. She was like ooooh, I read it too. What's your monicker? Is it flynbird? Looooool. I tell am say no be me be flying bird oo. After a while, I slept, cos my connecting flight was delayed by 2 hours, na God say make one angel wake me, I for miss the flight. They were about to start boarding when I woke up! I ran like mad! Hehehe.
Next stop, DC. They seated me beside two cute white kids and their grandma. Those kids nearly killed me. Their grandma no sabi operate the entertainment system, so na me dem dey call every 2 mins to change the cartoon! After dem don pull my braids well well. When they slept I just sleep too. We reached DC and I woke up to see grandma packing KLM blanket oo and the thing thick well well. I just thief my own too, run. We de-boarded and went through checks. Nothing major. After then na where confusion start oo. With cart, na I'm I begin waka up and down, looking for AA kiosk. Eventually located the place but I had already missed my flight, so I had to chill. I see different types of people ehn! My mouth cannot say all.
Hand don dey pain me abeg

Additional
Airplane food e get as e be! They gave me pasta, e be like something wey I no know. Despite that, the white guy just dey chop am as if tomorrow won't come. I just dey fart. I forgot my Pizza and jacket onboard KLM too. JJC things

I actually reapplied immediately after my last denial about two and a half months ago and got a date for 15th July but had to cancel it because I knew I needed to work more on home ties.... ****Fastforward****

flynbird: WAKANOW.COM IS NOTHING BUT SCAM!!!!. i just had to buy credit on my phone now and gave them a lengthy call, and guess what? they told me my booking has been cancelled and i should pay an extra 39,000 to get another date. They said my booking was unattended to and that its either i pay the 39,000 or i'm left with other airline options of 400,000 upwards.
Now what excuse does Wakanow have for a customer who made a flight booking on Monday and made the payments on Monday and immediately i left the bank i called them and the agent confirmed the payment all on the same day. Now i heard nothing from them after 3days and then they tell me my booking was cancelled for no reason and i am to pay an extra 39,000........
WAKANOW.COM IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM SITE/COMPANY!!!.... Whoever has dealt with them before is lucky he/she got what he/she wanted but pls and pls dont use them again.. i repeat DONT use them again!!!!
Wakanow, or "WakaRun" as someone called them is nothing more than a scam site these days. Agreed, they might have been good in their earlier days, but these days all they do is lie to people that their booking cancelled so they have to pay extra money. This is not the first time I'm hearing of such practices for them. When I wanted to book mine, i saw cheap tickets with them, but i didn't go for it. i don't want to have HBP angry. sorry dear, I pray its resolved soon

flynbird: I couldn't book directly to emirates again because my brother couldn't get it done on saturday again. So that booking expired.... I checked on wakanow.com on monday and saw a cheaper emirates flight and then I booked and went to make the payments the same day which was monday. I called them immediately I left the bank and also emailed them. I've called severally again but all they keep saying is that they will issue me an e-ticket. Today is thursday and yet no email from them yet. Its giving me sleepless nights sad
Pele Dear sad I know how you must be feeling. You should have rechecked Emirates that Monday. I'm scared of agents o, especially that Wakanow (from the things I've heard about them. What's the status quo now?
As people said, STORM THEIR OFFICE ABEG angry angry

flynbird: Please who has ever used wakanow.com to book flights? I made a booking on monday and paid on monday. I've called severally and they said they'll call me back but I haven't still received their call yet. Please how long does it take themhuh??
I thought you booked with Emirates? Frankly, I've never tried wakanow, and I don't think I will. From the reports I've been hearing about them. Give them this week to do their thing, once dey don't respond, march to their office next monday. I'm sure if they see you, they'll give you the reason for the delay

kofsy: hahahahahahahaha pls i dont need anymore big grammars abeg! cheesy cheesy I've had enough in the last 2-months. I just unsuscribed from dictionary.com and merriam-webster's word for the day, before they continue to flood my email with words. Kai this GRE is something else. I'm feeling like a heavy load had been lifted off my head grin grin grin grin

MsNas where are you ooooooo! my cramming didn't really work like you predicted sad sad sad sad Kai! upon all the Barron's 4750 words, princeton hit parade and kaplan frequency words that i studied, only few came out. cry cry cry cry cry cry

For those going to write the GRE anytime soon, pls dont memorize words more than you need to. The key to acing the verbal section(sentence completion and equivalence) is understanding the message each question is trying to pass across. Once you get a picture of the message, you'd be able to guess the word that would fit into the blank correctly even before looking at the answer choices. And for the almighty reading comprehension, pls try as much as possible to phrase each question in your own word. And don't waste too much time on trying to read and understand the long boring ones. Just get a glimpse of what the story is about and move on to the questions; the key words in the questions will lead you to part of the comprehension you need to "comprehend" grin grin
Babes, congrats!! kiss kiss Good Job. Shey I was right about the Verbal abi? The same thing happened to me. When I was taking my test, I was feeling so stupid about cramming all those jagbajantis words cheesy My head was just floating around in the Verbal section cos I had three sections for it.
