People do crazy things sometimes. Some are lucky and some are not so lucky. Its a pity we cant ask why he did it. Cos I believed he must have weighed his options and decided this was best.

9jacrip:
It's just a funny story to me and I don't believe it either, reason being that the person who posted the news didn't cite a link to the original source of the news so,
Actually, this man is not the first. One happened in the late 90s, I believe. The man was believed to be an engineer who worked at the airport.

I can.
She needs to be confident of herself though. No one is perfect. People have a cross that they carry too. It is said that a chicken sweats. It is the feathers that hides it. I have a friend who is born blind, intelligent, a journalist and is happily married to a beautiful woman. If one can communicate and the love for each other is there, then I would say go ahead. one has to be determined though to fight for what he believes in cos people would discourage the relationship like they do to any other relationship.

Yes. I'm with you. I believe she kept him unsettled cos she wanted to force out some real stuff from him which she to some extent did. Did you notice the answer he gave when she asked him if the crisis in Jos will end completely some day? Did u hear what he said? I didn't like that, he should've been better armed. Good eye contact helps build good confidence. One could cross one's leg as well to hold oneself up too. Time will probably teach him.
You are right. Good eye contact is a weapon against such intimidation. I actually think he was more prepared for his interaction with obama than with any journalist. I guess the interview caught him unawares. He seemed more confident with Obama than with her.

That still looks like the vehicle was stationary to me. What could be lower than the bonnet of that vehicle to impact it with such damage and affect the passanger side?

I think actual details of owner, circumstance (pre-impact) of the accident will help clarify issues. Those sensors will work IF there was a battery, and IF they actually existed in the vehicle.

I personally dont think we have enough details to knock Kia Motors Nigeria, because the vehicle might also have had Airbag error lights on for months without the owner paying any attention to it. Afterall I know a lot of people reading these thread have those light on in some of their vehicles. This only teaches us not to ignore those.
I believe this answers my question. So there is a way to know if you have air bags or not. Maybe it was faulty or not on. One needs to check it out before buying a car or even b4 driving it. This is our responsibility and not the govt. It is your safety.

Don't hang the poster cos he pointed out something that any good listener would've. It appeared that Amanpour was bullying him, he sounded diffident and defeated. He wasn't just coming thru. He was incoherent and the authority wasn't there. What?! I felt for him. These are pointers to how bad and unbalanced our educational system is. For you to have got a PhD you must have been put thru a lot of both group presentations and interviews. Well, let's just give him a chance as that's perhaps his first interview on such a platform. Experience teaches better.
To add to your point about Jonathan's reactions, I believe experienced reporters like herself are experienced to intimidate one. Have you listened to any interview with Obama or clinton or any other world leader? They get nervous too. You hear Obama as good orator as he is saying "erm" "erm" several times. Some of them even get mad at the way they "push" their questions across. I think these reporters try to do that to get facts from those they interview. Maybe they believe people make mistakes when nervous.

PoliticsRe: Acting President Goodluck Jonathan And His Too Many Grammatical Errors by MsTom(f): 11:54pm On Apr 17, 2010
I dont think his grammar should be an issue. Everyone gets nervous once in a while and everyone one makes grammatical errors once in a while. I have heard white men make grammatical errors. Most african americans do not speak good english. Some whites in America do not speak perfect english. And they have accents too. Those who can boast of impeccable english in my opinion are the british. As per Jonathan being a phd holder, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is also a phd holder and he could not speak in english when he went to the states. It really doesnt matter as long as you can communicate. English is not his mother tongue you know.

The Kia Rio in this part of the world has all the safety that are needed.
But Nigerian govt are too busy stealing money and no get time to check safety of what comes to Nigeria.

Another reason why brand new car being bought in Nigeria is a waste of money and time
True! But isnt there a way for the buyer to check if they do have airbags or not? Not sure. We should be responsible for our safety too even if the govt refuses to do their end of the deal.
Christianity EtcRe: Stop The Persecution Of The Pope! by MsTom(f): 2:07pm On Apr 17, 2010
Pastor AIO,

I so much support your views. It is like you wrote down my thoughts. The thing is, these problem of hypocrisy is not only in the roman catholic churches but also in pentecostal churches. The leaders of these churches have decided to turn their backs on acts such as this and many more such as fraud and corruption. The church is now political and no longer fighting for the truth and the right thing. Each man is fighting for his pockets and fame. Now we hear of pastors sexually harrasing their members, we hear of corruption of the highest orders, we hear of pedophilic acts and yet nothing is done to stop it. Rather, they would rather want to fight the "unbelievers". Why should they anyway? Afterall, the church is a role model and the world is actully following in their steps. It is so sad. so sad. so sad. The church is now a hypocrites that the atheist now condemn. Hence the saying: Only God knows those who are His.
FamilyRe: How To Be A Better Wife by MsTom(f): 1:53pm On Apr 17, 2010
The funniest thing is some women do it and more. In our parents' generation, we see the women almost becoming slaves for their husbands and yet the man brings in another woman. Or even beat the daylight out of them. Or even send them packing for no reason. What can one say about that?

The way some men think is so funny. Some are even suggesting alienation on their comments to be added to the list. Funny, some men are successful in doing that to their wives. Women should have their identity and not be afraid to show it before and after marriage.

I support some of the points the poster gave but how about the man? He needs to do the same to himself. Especially in the area of taking care of themselves and their wives. They need to protect and keep her. Funny, most men stress their wives out with petty stuffs that even if she is all dressed up et all, she looks old and haggered. Marriage is a 100% - 100% thingy. Not only for one party to work out but for both parties involved. Afterall, they both made a vow with the man making it first.

Still waiting on the poster for the list of what the husbands need to do.

@poster,

Nice piece. How about a topic like "how to be a better husband". Some women do all what you listed and more (believe me) and yet they still have problems in their homes. Reasons? The man has no clue of what to do. They cant even relate to the points you gave the women. They see some as threat. (evident from some post on here)

Dont know your mum or her interests. But I think mothers especially want to have their kids around them on occasions like this. Having a small get together with her kids/spouses on her birthday wont be a bad idea. Also, money would be a good idea for a gift. Let her buy what she wants.

RomanceRe: Why Is It Difficult To Get A Virgin As A Wife? by MsTom(f): 1:13pm On Apr 15, 2010
@Poster,
Never base your conclusion on the comments people make on FB or other social website about se!x. A group of psychologist once made a research amongst teens and the young adult. They found out that majority those who acted "loose", of those who dressed like "sluts", and of those who spoke "flirty" were actually virgins. While majority of those who were quiet and cools had multiple sexual partners. There are actually more virgins out there than you think. (Used to work with teenagers)

Most people hide behind invisible mask. Because they talk dirty does not mean they are not virgins. You would be surprised. You would also be surprised that that "spiritual" sister is NOT a virgin. There is more to just looking for a virgin for a wife. Find a good woman. A woman of good character. A woman who love and respects herself. It is that woman who would love you in return and truly be the Wife of your dream. Not necessarily a virgin. A lot of women can fake vriginity for some men especially if the men are virgins. I have heard a man talk about how proud he was of his wife for being a virgin and yet she was not. she had even had an abortion before. I bet there are some other naive men out there too. (dont be one)

So, in your search for a wife, look beyond all that. Pray to God for YOUR woman. OPEN your eyes well well. OPEN your mind too.

My piece of advice.
RomanceRe: My Friend's Fiancee Just Took A Phone From One Of Her Toasters by MsTom(f): 3:54am On Apr 13, 2010
Why cant he tell her to return it right away? There is no distraction in that. The phone itself is a distraction. Do you think the toaster wont have her phone number? Do you think the toaster wont be making more "air tight head way" to get in between her skirt? She needs to return it now! Returning in two week is an afterthot.
RomanceRe: My Friend's Fiancee Just Took A Phone From One Of Her Toasters by MsTom(f): 3:29am On Apr 13, 2010
Ok. No harsh words. Your girl is not serious at all. She has ojukokoro (literal meaning is insect eyes). She might have collected the phone innocently but she needs to return it. Collecting gifts from men who shows interest in you means a lot. Hence she should stop playing with people's emotions and be content with what she has. She needs to respect you and the relationship by returning the phone to that man and buy what she can afford for now even if it is a nokia 3310. Hope I was nice enough.

@MsTom et al,

Please who knows where I can get an N900 phone ?

I met some guys from salesonline at Oregun but they said they could only get the locked version.

Got to Nokia place @Ikeja and was told that it has not been officially released in Naija and as such if I buy the imported copies in the market, I'l not have access to some functionalities such as push mail cos Nokia doesnt support the phone in Nigeria yet.

and finally someone told me I can only pick up the phone from any of the telecom operators on a contract/postpaid basis. As in its not available for the regular prepaid market.

My ques is simply what is the true situation of the N900 as regards the nigerian market and if its available for regular prepaid phone users , where can I get it and how much ?

Need a new phone urgently
I do not know how that guy got his information but most Nokia phones especially the Nseries including the N900 are sold as unlocked phones. You do not need contract with any telecoms company. I do not know about the Nigerian market but my guess is that since it is a fairly new product, you might not be able to get it in Nigeria just yet. If you know anyone going to UK, you could ask them to get one for you as the telecom system is close to that of Nigeria. I dont know how much it is sold in Uk but I know N900 is sold for around $550 in the states. You can go to the Nokia website to get the actual prices.
CrimeRe: Pregnant Woman Swallows Cocaine, Arrested At Lagos Airport by MsTom(f): 3:57pm On Apr 09, 2010
She is such a wicked selfish woman. Money over the health of her unborn child? that is just plain wicked. She should not have been pregnant in the first instance or just wait till after the birth if she knew she was going to do this.

Princek12:
For all of you who are ranting about how wicked and nefarious this woman is to her baby, you guys are not in the position to know the situation through which this woman is going, and it is reasonable to say that the situation through which she was going obviously led to her desperate attempt at swallowing the cocaine. It may be said, perhaps, that she swallowed it out of her affection towards her expectant baby, for it is plausible that she swallowed the cocaine in an attempt to make money that would be used to take care for her expectant child.

I know it may sound hollow, but the circumstances which can prompt a pregnant woman to risk her unborn child's life--swallowing cocaine--might be dire circumstances which many of us on this thread may not understand, especially some of us who are typing under the comforts of our home and amid the abundance of food. We all know that financial constraints, hunger, stress, and possibly duress may have led this otherwise innocent woman to engage in this supposedly nefarious act towards an unborn child. "Judge that ye shall not be judged."

FYI: I am in no way sanctioning this behavior, but there are always two sides to every story, and there are circumstances that which many of us all will not understand, especially when we have not even talked to the woman to get a feel for her state of mind and condition.
Are you for real?! Like it is ok for an armed man to kill over cash. Or like it is ok for a man to kill for political power? Common now! There is no two sides to anything. That woman swallowed the drug to get money. She was using the pregancy as a cushion to scale thru any security system. It would have been better for her to give up the child for adoption than what she did. If the child dies, she should be taken for murder. Do you know that the child could have developmental problem? Tell me, how much money is going to console her for that? she is just plain selfish and wicked and was using the unborn child.
FamilyRe: How Do You Cope With A Jealous Hubby? by MsTom(f): 3:41pm On Apr 09, 2010
I do not see him as a jealous husband but as a concerned husband. From your story, here are the points I can pick. You have been married for over 10 years. You have an email. you have male friends. you have a NL account. you have a msn account and I bet you have a FB account. yet, you never complained that he was jealous of you having friends from those site. Now, he singled out only one guy. A guy that you have confirmed that you spend time with "learning" forex. My dear, he is seeing more than you are admitting. Maybe this guy has overtaken your dicussion. Maybe he is what you talk about all the time. Maybe he has taken your time. Maybe he is always in your thots. Maybe you are so eager to communicate with him at the expense of your husband/family. Sit down and think. Think about the things you chat about even though you might want to claim it is strictly forex which I dont believe. Think about your reactions when you are chatting with him. Do you enjoy the time you spend together? Now, be true to you. Leave the chat room for a while and see if you miss him. That way, you are also proving to your hubby that all is well. Believe me, you have not seen a jealous man. Even for you to still think he is joking speaks volume. He is being nice in passing his concerns accross to you. There are other ways to learn forex. Google it up. You dont have to risk hurting the man you love for a man you dont even see/know. I bet if you open a thread on NL, you would even learn a thing or two. It is up to you. Lack of trust is what ruins a marriage. If he does not trust you with the guy, you are opening doors to marital problems that you have not seen in the years of your marriage. You dont need that. You need peace. Look for another way to learn forex for your sake and your marriage's.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan And Muttalab Meet ! by MsTom(f): 3:18pm On Apr 09, 2010
I do not think Jonathan would be talking to Obama to release the boy. He should know that it is a No-No and that it would be an insult to him if he tries to. The boy is going to serve his terms. The only thing I believe they would talk about is how to make Nigeria an anti-terrorist nation and how Jonathan and Obama can sign a form of pact or an anti-terrorist act (america has always wanted this). It is good that Jonathan is getting his intel but isnt that too late? He should have done this months ago. He should be having meetings with the Nigerian Security agencies and not the father. But Nigerian being what they are, he is doing it a day before he is leaving. I wonder how much intel he would get now.
