I wonder what we are celebrating! |
tensor777:You have me thinking here. In your post on "my husband is gay" something like that, you said being gay was a mental illness. Why then if I may ask are you saying that the act of being gay is an act punishable by death in the bible? Your sexual orientation is not a sickness. It is a choice one makes. Whether being gay or being a pediophile or what not, all are choices made whether good or bad and man must pay the consequences of their choices. |
It is another thing to be competing with a woman. Competing with a man?, it a "no go area". You cant win! sorry. Reason? he doesnt even see it as being gay or cheating. He sees it as just playing sex with a buddy. Tell me, how do you fight such school of thought? lioncoolst:Did he forget his vow of forsaking others before going after a man? common now, be real. God frowns at infidelity, not only that, he hates homosexuality. Have you forgotten one of the reasons He destroyed sodom and gomorrah? Having sex whether with a man or a woman is not sickness! Actually, sex is fun. The guy aint sick. He is plain selfish. |
texazzpete:My thoughts exactly! Sagamite:Should be done more often to pediophiles! |
Oba234:You got it all out of my mouth. Most men are attracted to decent looking women and not necessarily those in mini skirts or pants. I have heard men say that they feel sexually intimidated when a woman is all dressed up and covered. And hence feel the need to "get under their skirt". Wearing godly looking dresses does not mean that person is righteous. Some are doing that under a pretense to attract un suspecting men to marriage. Quick question for the men. Havent you been attracted to a woman who wore just plain traditional wear-like iro and buba? Afterall, they are all covered up. All I believe in is, as a christian, be moderate in all you do and wear, be it pants or skirts, jewelries or whatever. PS: As per the dress code, I think it can only apply to members and not all worshippers |
I wonder the kind of ceremony you are planning to pull, that you feel you dont have enough. What is wrong in doing a registry? If you must wed in church, what is wrong in doing it in your pastor's office? All you need are two witness. Your immediate family and the bride's immediate family are enough. You can wear native attire not necessarily white and suits. The only thing you need do is pay all the bride price or whatever ( I believe the family of the bride would be considerate), pay for registry, get married, cut the cake-if you have and go back home. Anyone who wants to eat should go home with you and prepare eba for them ( it actually happened in case of someone I know). In short, all I am trying to say is be wise in your preparation for your wedding. Remeber that there is life after that day and all those who would come and chop on that day would walk away and most of them never look back to ask for your welfare. You are on your own after the day. So, call your wife to be and plan the best economical wedding ever. |
There is nothing to be scared of. Nigeria is good. After getting out of the airport, you would feel so much at home. My advice. Enjoy yorself. Have fun. Make good use of the time you are spending at home. People at home are ready to be good guest(believe me). Do not be too flamboyant. Do not spend unnecessarily. No need to announce yourself or be flexing euros around anyone ( this way, you dont attract unnecesary attention). Be yourself. Be nice. Forget europe while in nigeria and enjoy nigeria as it is. Do not complain, afterall, you know they have traffic, bad roads and no electricity. Why complain again? With these in mind and in action, you would mos def not be a pain in the a** to anyone. I went to Nigeria after such a long time sometime last year. Now, I am so looking forward to make it an annual trip |
odereghi:funny, he gave his email addy on the first page of this post. |
Confusion:My point exactly. If you believe in the sharia way of life, live it to the core. Not only when it is time for marriage that you believe in sharia while all these while you are ruling/living using the western ideology. If he wants to go sharia, let him resign as a senator and be governed by the sharia law where the people would support his actions. But now as a senator in Nigeria, we the people are against his actions and hence should face the consequence. Nigeria is not governed by the sharia law. It is that simple. |
becomrich7:The fact that they are providing accomodation means they would provide the convenience that comes with it. Generator and diesel inclusive. He has food, shelter, transportation, medical and extra $24000. What do you think he would use it for? Nothing I guess but to take majority of it back to India and invest in the indian economy. Majority of our income goes to what he is getting for free. |
Cheef:Hence why I stated that the employer may have problems hiring Nigerians in Nigeria cause of the educational system. What about others whether at home presently or abroad who have educations abroad and have experiences abroad? What problem could a recruiter have with that? There are Nigerians abroad who want to come home either cos they lost their jobs or just that they miss the life in Nigeria. They desire such opportunities, i.e desire to work at home. I am not talking in terms of Sid's salary. I guess that is what he negotiated with the company or maybe what he is worth to the company. The few companies that hire Nigerians as expartrait offer them way more than that. The salary scale is compared with that of america in terms of education and experience. ( I used America as my example cos I know people who did that). We need more of that. That would encourage some people to come back home and invest their knowledge in Nigeria. |
harakiri:The thing is we even have Nigerians outside of Nigeria who studied and have experience outside of Nigeria and these ones are ready to come back home. Why cant these companies hire them as expariates?! That is my question. kushe:We never know how sid got his salary decided. He could have negotiated to that value. After all, he stated that he was earning $14, 000 before now. To him, he might not be cheated. |
aasog:I beg to differ. Nigerians are not brain dead. They simply DO NOT have an opportunity to prove themselves. Nigerians in other other countries have proved this point. There are hard working and ready to learn professionals who surprisingly have their degrees from Nigerian Universities. A lot of graduates of Engineering here in the States who would jump at the offer sid had, leave the shores of america to work for these IT companies. Tell me and please be sincere, how many of these IT or other companies would want to hire a Nigerian from America not to talk of a Nigerian from Nigeria. Even though he is well qualified. ONLY FEW. The problem is that these companies have a form of inferiority or maybe they have little or no confidence in the Nigerian Educational systems. These companies hire nigerians who work diligently for less only for the company to go bring in someone of other nationals who probably are less qualified to be the head of department. This is wrong and needs to be checked. The reverse occurs in other countries. I have seen instances where an american who is less qualified is made to be the head of department. We may call that racist but then, these heads of departments could also be black. Only that they are Americans. Do you blame them? I would not. (Why should I let my people leave my country?) Even though we have other nationals as heads of departments in America, majority of them are citizens of America. The only reason I could think of why another nationals should be the head of department is if the company has its origin from another country. Also, the fact that Sid is coming in from another country and is to be paid in dollars with all these benefits shows that he was hired as an expatriate. Believe me, he would NOT be coming in for an entry level job. There are Nigerians in America or UK or even in India sef who could have be hired as such. Why didnt they do just that? Only few companies in Nigeria would hire Nigerians as expatriates. |
***Speechless*** |
Funny, I kinda feel sympathy for the family. I guess they have now come to terms with his death. Eh ya |
It is so sad that this is still going on after years of marriage. I bet you mum hung in there because of the the kids (you guys). Nevertheless, You need to talk to your dad to stop that violence. You are all grown up and you should be able to talk to him as an adult. He needs to respect her now even if he never did before. Both of them are getting old and they would need each other at old age. If that does not work, I would advice you to get your mum out of the area and let her stay with you for a while. She needs to live to see her children succeed in life and to see her children's children. If she dies from such depression or from the violence, your father will marry another woman before you say jack robinson. Your mother took care of you. Take care of her now! |
I have seen and interacted (even has as friends) with Hausa women who are in these professions- medicine ( doctors and nurses), Architecture, banking. The thing is most of them live in the north and they are doing good in their chosen profession |
My lesson learnt from the death of someone close to me (my brother): Life is short. Make the best of it while you are alive. In the process, touch the life of someone near you for good. Always say how much people mean to you while they are alive cos tomorrow might just be too late. |
Never knew him or heard his music before until the day he had the accident. The way people talk about him means he was a lot to people. I just pray that God grant everyone the fortitude to bear the loss. Da Grin R.I.P. |
~Sissy~:Guess you got me wrong. Beans is healthy but I dont eat it. Right from childhood. Now, burger and fries , I can eat but I dont cos it is not healthy. Hence why I asked for examples of other healthy meals. |
Interested in this topic Fhemmmy:Beans? Not for me. Please give examples of healthy meals. |
chiogo:Actually, my response was not in reference to the man's action but in reference to the person who asked why Nigerian are so desperate to go to America at all cost. Some may not be this crazy, but the things you hear people do to travel out to America is almost close to this madness. Besides, from the story, we read that a woman did the same and she was successful. Can you even imagine the wordings of the reporter to this matter? It is like he (reporter) was not surprised. It is like he(reporter) was trying to portray that this man's action is common in Nigeria but this man was just unfortunate. |
I dont not think there is anything wrong with our educational system. The problem of education lies in how we get educated. Under stress. No light. No chair. No tables etc. I have noticed that Nigerians who studied in Nigeria and eventually go abroad for future studies are the best in their classes. We compete with other educational system and we come out on top. That should speaks volume. The fact that we have accents means that we speak other languages. If you are white and were raised speaking spanish, you would have accent. I repeat. Whites have accents espcially those in the southern America. Some are bad that I, would strain to understand them. See, one of the best attorney in DC is a nigerian, an Ibo man( cant remember his name). He gets interviewed even on CNN. One of the best writer in the world are nigerians. Soyinka makes words for the dictionary ( so I heard). At a point in time, I heard that one of the best doctor is a Nigerian. All of these men had a form of education in nigeria. The indians have accents too. Guess what, they are overtaking the IT and education industry. As long as you can deliver and communicate, accent is no problem. Even the scrabble champion on this forum must have made some grammatical error at a point in time( please correct me if am wrong). Even the best english teacher must have made grammatical error. Everyone makes such mistakes. Most especially when they are nervous. The most important thing is to be able to pass a message across and deliver the message. |
I would not judge anyone. A lot of people in America live a life of lie to their families in Nigeria. They boast of things they have which is a complete lie. Some are rentals. It is lies like this that people see/hear that makes them want to go to America by all means. They send pics of these lies to someone in Nigeria. How do you convince that someone otherwise? |
larimo:Yes. If flying directly to US. |

And the Nigerians in America now weren't told stories too, how come they didn't do like this one? Even a 10-yr-old should be able to discern when a story is being sugar-coated not to mention a grown man.
