But how is their currency still very strong? What do they sell? These whole thing I don't understand at all.
Their currency is backed with gold.

And string currency can be a curse to a nation. No one wants to import from a country with extremely strong currency, one of the reasons UK doesn't have strong manufacturing base.

China devalues her currency intentionally to encourage other countries from importing from them, and by extension, their economy becomes stronger.

Lagos State governor Sanwo-Olu commissioned the blue line in December, but it couldn’t start operations because a facility to power the tracks wasn’t ready.

The metro will now use a diesel locomotive for some weeks until the power plant is ready to connect to the tracks.

According to John Ashbourne, an African analyst, while quoting a video of the train being pulled, he wrote;

Thanks. By the way, I'm Igbo and this is my real name. I had a rethink about the historic role of the Igbo in Nigeria when I stumbled across some of the history and took the time to read it.

There will be no referendum because it will require a vote of the National Assembly and the PEOPLE of Nigeria, including the Igbo by the way, do not want the country to be broken up. Yes, you read it right....my Igbo people DO NOT want to secede from Nigeria. The Igbo people will REJECT secession if they vote on it. That's a fact but no Igbo will ever admit to it.

The governments of Nigeria always do what the people of Nigeria want them to do. Over valued naira, nationalized oil & gas industry, public ownership of land, it's all done because the people want it that way. THE PEOPLE of Nigeria are generally stupid, selfish and greedy. Nigeria continues to exist as a criminal, socialist State of brigandage because THE PEOPLE want it to exist as exactly that kind of nation.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
You are distinctively different from any Igbo I have met in a lifetime. God bless you for choosing the path of objectivity.

Thanks, I understand your sentiments and agree with you to a large extent, especially on the bolded part about repentance and remorse. I've told my fellow Igbo the same and all I've gotten is curses and invectives. Believe it or not, most of my people still hold up Chukwuma Nzeogwu as a hero. An immature, petulant murderer. It's really baffling because he's one of the biggest causes of whatever travails the Igbo suffer in Nigeria today.

Most Nigerians don't even understand the extent of Igbo perfidy in Nigeria, it stretches back at least to the 1940's. Frankly I don't know if Nigerians just DELIBERATELY ignore their history or what, I don't get it.

The average Nigerian university graduate will look up and tell you the sky is yellow and the capital of Canada is Cairo and stand on their claim like their life depends on it. It's like the election of Muhammadu Buhari to the Presidency, it was ECONOMIC SUICIDE to vote for that man given his PUBLIC OFFICE RECORD, I said it at the time but surprisingly most of my friends and family disagreed, including most of the Igbo among them.

Please don't be annoyed. I want to ask...would you be open to the secession of the Igbo from Nigeria? I'm not advocating secession or continued unity, just trying to understand another train of thought.

Thanks.
You are very civil and cultured, and I will respond to whatever question you ask me.

If there is a referendum for Igbo secession today, I will vote capital YES. I will support them to secede and form their own Nation. I am just waiting for that time IF the referendum will ever happen, hopefully.

What does this mean?

Care to clarify so I don't impute any meaning that you didn't intend?

Thanks.
What I meant was an Ibo man will not be allowed to get to the Presidency. There is only one way out if they so much want it.

The Northerners did not trust them considering what happened during the first coup. Almost all the Northern eminent personalities and religious leaders were killed by Nzeogwu e.g Tafawa Balewa, Sardauna of Sokoto etc.

The same happened in the South West. The political figures were assassinated.

It will take a genuine repentance, bridge building and intense show of remorsefulness for what happened in the past to be pardoned.

Without that, they can never get to win the presidency.

Sadly, Most igbos are arrogant and insulting. They will prefer to burn the bridge rather than to build it and the status quo will remain the same.

If Aguiyi Ironsi opened the gates of hell in the 6 months he was in office, and you Nigerians never managed to close the gates in more than 50 years since he was killed, and even managed to make it worse, then Nigeria was destined to be hell anyway, which it is
That's the problem.

The only time an individual from that part of the region was given the topmost power in the Nation, he ruined it and you guys are still bearing the consequence till date.

Sadly, you are the one always screaming to revert back to the way it used to be, blaming others except yourself, who was the architect.
Your kinsman - Aguiyi Ironsi - started the madness which pushed us to this level.

Average Nigerians enjoy someone doing the dirty works for them while they build on it.

Meanwhile, here's Gowon's decree 14 and 15.
He is the one who abolished the regional system, appropriated exclusive power to himself and created more states in the north thereby giving them more seats in the House of Assembly. Gowon is the culprit here.
Cc. MT
You cannot excuse your kinsman - Aguiyi Ironsi - from the tragedy that he subjected the whole nation to.

Read this from the first line of the Unification Decree:

"Subject to the provisions of this Decree, Nigeria shall on 24th May 1966 (in this decree referred to as ‘the appointed day’) cease to be a Federation and shall accordingly as from that day be a Republic, by the name of the Republic of Nigeria, consisting of the whole of the territory which immediately before that day was comprised in the Federation.."

Before 24th May, 1966, Nigeria was a Federation with each region self-governing and controlling their own wealth and resources. Your man came and in one fell swoop, he cancelled it and replaced it with Republic. He even titled it - the UNIFICATION decree, thus cancelling out the regional governments.

A foundation for national tragedy was laid and Gowon built on it.

If your brother had not cancelled the Federation, there was high possibility Gowon would not have thought along that line.

Aguiyi Ironsi would forever be seen as laying the foundation for the mess we are in. Go and read from different political analysts, you would see how your brother was viewed, and the intentions as well as ambition that drove him to reach such crazy conclusion.

Most of those that come here to brag about being abroad are poor people, the poverty has messed their mentality up. Those are the people perpetuating the modern day slavery. It's sad because people from all over the world travel, but these clowns will make it seem like all Nigerians are leaving Nigeria, lol.
I cant agree with you less. It is common sense that if you want to go to a place, you seek for guidance from those who have gone before you. But hell no, they feel white man's land is the ultimate.

Look at Canada for instance. You can convert your visitor's visa to work permit if you get a job with a LMIA-licensed job - In reality, they created this so that foreigners can come and do jobs which Canadians refuse to do - menial jobs. Tell me, how much is the wages? How will these people survive in such an expensive place without support?. And path to getting PR is not even smooth and straightforward because Canada knows they bring no tangible skillset to the table.

People pretend to go to school in the UK, yet they do not learn anything. They contract out their assignments - It's like gifting UK universities money all in the name of just going abroad. These generations of Nigeria travellers are the worst. 10 years down the time, most would have been lost in the system in a very bad way.

EXCERPTS OF THE SPEECH BY RETIRED JUSTICE MARY ODILI
This Colloquium and book launch in honour of Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama SAN upon the attainment of 25 years as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria is an epochal achievement.

It is no doubt appropriate that the theme is: "The Nigeria of our dreams, a call to the Patriots". I say so in the light of the prevailing situation in Nigeria as a result of the 2023 General Elections which has generated a lot of storm necessitating the kind of conversation which we are about to indulge in as there seems to be moved to throw the nation into chaos or conflagration.

This may be brought about by some individuals and groups who fanning the ambers of hatred, bigotry and tribalism fails to see the possible outcomes of the utterances without caution that are been thrown around.

It is human to feel cheated or having the short end of the stick but one who is not declared the winner at any electoral contests, such emotions however grieved does not justify bringing the roof down, the roof of our nation.

The reason is simple, that in such an eventuality, that aggrieved person may not be spared as the commotion that could ensue will be like an unguided missile which could land anywhere and upon anyone.

Therefore, in ventilating our point of view and facts at the electoral tribunals or other courts, a sense of responsibility from all parties is demanded. The situation does not call for the blackmail of the judges or the posting of speculatory hypothesis giving them such a life of their own which run riot and accepted by the hapless and innocent in the society as the truth.

Knowing the quality of the participants at this Colloquium and I am happy that professional and those who are well-equipped in litigation matters or electoral disputes, Chief Olanipekun is a master and our Attorney-General recently sworn-in, these are experts.

I am confident that having such persons here including our chief host Chief J K Gadzama there is confidence that at the end of the day, a resetting of the mind will be taking place and we will keep things in perspective in the full Knowledge that elections are seasonal and litigations relating thereto.....
Here lies the judgement you are all waiting for - "It is human to feel cheated or having the short end of the stick but one who is not declared the winner at any electoral contests, such emotions however grieved does not justify bringing the roof down, the roof of our nation.

Can anyone decodes the cryptic message here? grin grin grin
