alstacs: Nigerians don tire me oh. This is a country where all toothpastes are McCleans and all SUVs are JEEPS.
God go help Nigerian English. grin
Old habits die hard. Up till late 1970s Macleans toothpaste dominated the nigerian toopthpaste market, so people simply used "Macleans" as if synonymous with toothpaste. And to this day to many people Macleans means toothpaste and toothpaste means macleans. As for using jeep for all SUVs, I think it is because Cherokee Jeeps were among the first SUVs in nigerian market so even when other brands of SUVs appeared naija people just called them jeep as well.

And this man might be the president of nigeria. Dont say it is not possible. 2015 is still wide open, a fact Babangida is well aware of hence his underground maneuvers for PDP presidential ticket. If he gets the ticket the party, Inec and the security forces will deliver the result as in 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Politics › Re: Do Nigerian Leaders Use Nairaland? by mu2sa2: 10:26am On Dec 29, 2012
degamonn: Nairaland as a social media has come a long way in Nigeria, competing with FB nd twitter.
Considering the quality of issues raised, discussions, suggestions offered, constructive nd distructive critism of ,local, state & federal govt on NL,how do we get the attention of our leaders 2 these comments on NL. Perhaps solutions profer to some social/national problems here on NL can help our leaders in solving our national problems.
My question is how do we get our leaders connected 2 NL? This should be our collective project for 2013. Ur take on this plz.
Gej is on fb - hmm, do u think he writes or even read the posts himself. He wont give a damn about nairaland either.
Travel › Re: ABC Transport - Passengers Beware! by mu2sa2: 10:21am On Dec 29, 2012
While sympathizing with the victims, may we know whether the attack was the handiwork of the usual whipping boys- boko haram, muslims, abokis. Seriously, the issue of insecurity in this country should not be obscured by sentiments.

No, he is dead serious. He wants his African mom & dad to behave oyibo style calling themselves darling, honey and kissing and pecking each other in the presence of their children-that's what young chaps call love these days.

Celebrities › Re: Mike Adenuga Relocates To Banana Island Office by mu2sa2: 7:53am On Dec 29, 2012
Aside the mansion, Mike Adenuga was the one man that made mobile phone services available to the the average person in nigeria. When southern Africans came with mtn and econet 99.99% of nigerians could not afford a gsm phone with Sim alone at 40k. This patriotic nigerian then came on the scene with GLO and promised to crash the cost of SIM to 0 kobo with per second billing. And he did; that is why today everyone has access to mobile telephony. It is an act of ingratitude and indeed unpatriotic if you do not hav a GLO line, the truly nigerian line.
Business › Re: A Millionaire At 29, That’s Five Years Late! by mu2sa2:
Must one be a millionaire to live a fulfilled life? You are what you think you are: if u think u are a failure because u dont hav tons of money, you are; if u define yourself as successful no matter your situation, you are. Why should we allow somebody else to define our life for us? I am what I am; I own my life; nobody dictates my life for me. All this talk about becoming or not becoming a millionaire is what is driving young people in particular yahoo yahoo, 419 scams, robbery etc. Dont allow urself to be deceived - if u are living a fulfilled life u hav "made it."

Omisore's gesture is for just one person. Nigeria should hav a comprehensive health care system covering the entire population. This girl is lucky, but many others are not- in fact people die needlessly looking for little money for hospital treatment. Imagine a poor country like Cuba where the govt caters for the health needs of every single citizen.

dirtymoney: with due respect. i think you are the fool here. they made their point, and its the fact. the christians being slaughtered by those blood sucking vampires. are they not innocent? when you muslims cannot restrain your brothers from doing evil, what do you expect. or do you want to tell me that muslim in the north dont know the perpetrators of all the evil acts going on down there. aint it the same mosque ya'll pray together?
You dont seem to think with ur brain. If a christian is killed somewhere in the city, u are saying christians should go and kill innocent muslims elsewhere! only a murderer will think like this. Your upturned brain also confuses u to blame all muslims for the act of a few - by the same token, u will also hav to blame all christians for the southern kaduna massacre, robberies and other evil perpetrated by a few christians. Pray that God develop ur brain to maturity so that u may think clearly.

Politics › Re: Shettima Weeps During Budget Presentation by mu2sa2: 9:31am On Dec 28, 2012
ITbomb: What were they thinking when they created Boko Haram .
Kaduna became peaceful only after the Muhammadans experience possibly the first reprisal attack from Christians.
They think they have monopoly of violence not knowing that they have nothing to hold the nation to ransom, that is where the militants they are tryin to copy had upper hand
Terrorists like you advocating more violence should know that Kaduna did not become peaceful because of the so-called reprisal attacks(By the way lunatics on both sides engaged in mad killings in the name of reprisals.) The relative peace in the city is due largely to the efforts of christian and muslim religious leaders and indeed some well-meaning youth groups. Reprisal killing anywhere can only lead to more killings and violence; it can never bring peace. In fact, the christian reprisal killings u are extolling was sheer lunacy- drunken men blocked Kaduna-Abuja Highway over several days pulling inter-state travellers out of their vehicles and killing them. These unfortunate victims had nothing to do with the initial killing, some were even christians.

hotwax: Who started the killing? Or christians must not retaliate when you kill them?
Kindly explain to us what you expect kaduna youth do when you unleash terror on them?
You write as if the stuff in your skull is cotton wool. Some killer christians set upon innocent muslims and massacred 500 human beings who hav not offended them one bit and you are talking bunkum. Is that what you are taught by your "man of god"?

otokx: At least the man is honest to say what is on his mind, it is left for the "christians" to learn one or two lessons.
see d insult on sheikh gumi for speaking his mind civily without abusing anybody! Is it an offence to speak against a perceived injustice? Why the uncouth language? If gumi`s statement is false, refute it rather than resorting to uncivilzed abusive language. D hypocrites justifying killing of 500 innocent people in southern kaduna should bury their heads in shame for impling that christians killing innocent muslims is ok. May God guide all of u wicked people to His light.

BlueMurder: You are the one behaving like an ostrich here: seeing a clear truth and pretending that it is not. Why not point out any false thing the Shaykh said? The man started by condemning the few misguided Muslims who shed others blood in the name of Islam, before going on to clarify that it was not an occurrence limited to some misguided Muslims alone. He then reminded us of what Amnesty International had earlier informed us regarding extra-judicial killings being perpetrated by the security forces in the North-East particularly. He reminded us further of the injustice of January 1966. Was all that false?

Yet, you called him a coward and claimed you had lost respect for him. What respect? Just be honest and say you never had any respect for him!
God bless u. While others are hurling insults nd gibberish, your post is mature and meaningful. Sheikh Gumi has only exercised his freedom of speech, guaranteed under nigerian constitution. Those who are uncomfortable with the obvious are, as usual, exhibiting their shallowness and area boy character.
Politics › Re: Kidnappers Scare Igbo From Xmas Trip. by mu2sa2: 1:00pm On Dec 25, 2012
kidnapping poses greater security challenge to the SE than boko haram to the north. Bh attack predictable targets and therefore preventable, but hardly anyone in the SE is safe from kidnappers. Besides, kidnapping is viewed in d SE as economic activity, not a crime (anything that brings in money is fair game in their materialistic world view). Even now believe or not maiduguri is safer than any city in the SE.

Aizebioje: Ok like was this guy married with kids when he was getting 90k nd the commission from the part time job?
I don't know but 90k as at 2004/2005 and even today seems ok for any single man living in NIGERIA!
He's just greedy and I say burn Him with any of the finished products of the Oil He Vandalized!
You dont know the power of greed for money. If you hanker after money, you will never be contented no matter how much you hav. This guy want money, so 90k and extra cant be okay for him, infact 1m naira monthly wont do him because he is a slave to money.Armed/pen robbery, oil bunkering, embezzlement of public money,419, cheating - at the root of all these is inordinate desire for money. If you allow urself to be infected with this desire there is no amount of money that u will be contented with.

debrief08: NTA made a report and followed up on it, it was not a wash wash news, it was a story of interest and they reported and when the story got K leg they also reprted, when police netered the matter they also reported.
Any Nigerian who watched News line in the 90s will confirm the whole drama, that is how Abike got so popular, Baby Mary's Story.

I ask you honestly, didn't you notice holes in this story? Or the miracle part just overwhelmed you totally?
What Doctor will allow a 59 year old woman have a vag-inal birth? Why isn't there a Doctors report in this sory seeing how not so common it is, isn't a Doctors story of how he maanaged her case necessary? Not a single hospital was mentioned in the testimony, it didn't strike you as strange?

My people sha
You are 100% correct. Familiar story line.Steal a baby and announce a miracle birth. This is not not the first time it is happening. Let police wade in quick and expose the hoax. It is only in naija that this kind of "miracle" keep occurring. Some folks must lie to advertise their sect and try to hoodwink the gullible by "with God nothing is impossible".

Politics › Re: Ibori Gets N50Million Pension As Ex-Governor Of Delta by mu2sa2: 12:41pm On Dec 23, 2012
Pension scam by ex-govs is happening in almost all states. An incumbent gov will usually pass a lavishly generous pension law for himself and his deputy in collusion with the usual rubber-stamp legislature. In Kano Shekarau built a 450m naira house for himself as part of his gratuity. In Kwara Bukola Saraki laid the foundation for supposedly 250m naira mansion as part of his gratuity - but as a certified thief he has been revising upwards the cost of the building, thanks to his errand boy who is occupying govt house. The monumental fraud being perpetrated by some ex-govs in the name of pension and gratuity is simply mind blowing.

When you place too much emphasis on certificates, rather than competence, people would be tempted to do anything to acquire them. This is true in nigeria as anywhere else.
