D problem is that d insecurity has gone out of control- it's now like a war situation and sadly in war no-one, nothing is safe. Yes, churhes and christians are attacked but mosques and muslims are also attacked and killed. Noboby is really safe in war.

gramci: Mr Buka (Boko) Ibrahim (haram), if you are not ignorant you should know that North East gets the largest chunk of the budget. Go through the budget and see the sum allocated to security, 60% of which will be spent in North East.
D 60% goes into d pockets of the top brass security personnel and politicians. D people of the north east get nothing from the Huge security vote. 2012 vote for so-called security is one trillion naira. If 1/4 of that amount were used to address the serious economic situation there that wuold hav gone a long to addressing the security issues. Saying Bukar Ibrahim or somebody else is sponsoring boko haram is trying to run away from the problem.

Bukar Ibrahim hits d nail on the head. We hav seen how poverty & injustice led to violence in d Niger Delta. D violence in the north east is largely a product of poverty & injustice and cannot be stopped by more violence. JTF is now becoming a problem than a solution - the same way that NATO has only brought misery rather than succour to Afghanistan. D insecurity in the north east requires imaginative and concerted effort to ameliorate the dehumanising poverty there by all govts - FG,states and LGs. Bukar Ibrahim may hav put it bluntly but he is saying the truth- abusing him on nairaland doesnt alter the truth.

Sealeddeal: Corruption is not our biggest problem.Corruption is one of the symptoms of our biggest problem.have you asked ur self why its the prominent northern who are working against the trial of Farouk? Thats how other regions/ethnic groups will be working to make sure their son who is a criminal is not tried.thats one of the major things militating against Nigeria development.there are others but corruption is a symptom.its not our probs.it cants stop no matter what the tools govt deployed.it can only stop if govt change the present system of govt.
It's good u name the prominent northerners working against the trial of Farouk. Maybe it's the same people that worked for the acquittal of James Ibori in nigeria!

Politics › Re: 3 Killed As Vigilance Group Rescues Osun Speaker’s Wife In Ogun by mu2sa2:
Let's get this clear: In our law u can only be guilty of an offence if u committed it directly or abetted it or conspired in its commission. Aluu incident is terrible, but no matter the emotions generated only d people who hav a hand in the ugly killings can be held liable in law - religion is not an issue here. Christians, muslims, animists, agnostics, pagans, uncommitted etc who participated in the killing are all liable without exception. Alhaji Walewa may or may not be guilty depending on whether he ordered the killings or paticipated in beating the deceased. There's no sentiment in law; so, if his only "offence" was that he could hav stopped the killers but did not, then he cannot be held liable for d killings. The same thing applies to all d residents of Aluu. Even on the video many of the people did not take part in the bestial beatings but only watched and filmed the gory sight. U cant ascribe guilt to a person when ur only evidence is that he was at the scene of crime. Not all morally reprehensible acts are legal wrongs. One thing this incident proves again is that many people only pay lip service to the teachings of their religion - north, west, south, east its all d same thing.

passionate88: I still want answer to this simple question... Why attack churches and christians if u are fightin against a muslim govt?... Why nt attack mosques (car suicide nt through a lone bomber)?. If boko is political like some people want us to believe, why do they back their actions with verses 4rm the qu'ran?, why FIGHTING for islamic law 2 b implememted across Nigeria?..
Initially all boko haram attacks were directed against the security forces and leading Borno state govt figures. They regarded the attacks as avenging the killing of their members. Boko haram later changed its tactics to attacking not only churches but also muslim clerics who speak against them and ward heads they suspected of telling on them. According to analysts, the attacks on churhes is a strategy to provoke retaliation on mosques with the aim to start a full scale muslim-christian war across d country. As an observer i will say that their strategy has failed because majority of christians and muslims in this country are not interested in senseless killings and violence. People want to live in peace but sadly the govt is not imaginative enough to reign in d violence. D talk of Islamising nigeria we all know is empty talk. Mohammed Yusuf's preaching before d violence started was against all d injustices we see in d society and that gravitated the poverty stricken masses to his group. His central theme was that d system of education we are operating is one of the causes of the ills of our society; therefore, western education has failed society. He advocated a combination of religious and western education. In one of his interviews with BBC he denied advocating end to western education, but insisted that equal emphasis should also be placed on Islamic education. However because of his fiery attacks on western education, people began to call them "Boko haram"(western education is evil).
Politics › Re: How Boko Haram Started – Gov Aliyu by mu2sa2: 7:15am On Oct 13, 2012
Gov Babaginda's statement is a political statement; it's not true. D settlement of darul islam was very peaceful until Babangida sacked d place because the residents were open supporters of ex-gov kure, Babangida's political foe. Boko haram started in Maiduguri in 2001 and operated as a peaceful preaching group under Mohammed Yusuf. It continued its activities peacefully for 8 years, with large following across d North East. They were known to hav hobnobbed with ev-gov Sherrif, who appointed Baba Fugu religious Affairs commissioner. Baba fugu was a respected Boko Haram elder known for his views against violence, but was dragged out of his house and killed by police in d crises of 2009. The violence started in 2009 when gov sheriff fell out with Boko haram and started using police to arrest nd kill BH members, sometimes in large numbers. Boko haram then started to acquire arms which Mohammed Yusuf said was for self defence. Thus began d violence we ar seeing today. Gov Babangida, a talkative man who's one of the least performing governor's, is trying to claim political credit by his statement to boost his move to contest for PDP presidential ticket in 2015.

victorD3: Did you mention 2006? Well israel invaded Lebanon and siege their presidential palace but backed down because of international pressure. And who told you other Arabs will support Iran? Its important to understand that secretly supporting someone in a War can never be compared with openly participating. Remember what happened in iraq, all the Arabs where just making noise in media while Saddam was been fished out of a hole like a Rat he was.
Israel will deliver missiles and warheads that will kill multitudes in Iran and muslim across d middle east will not see it as Israel-Iran war but as a war against all muslims.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Hezbollah Claim Drone shot-down By Israel by mu2sa2: 6:53am On Oct 12, 2012
D myth of invincibility of the Israeli defence forces was buried in 2006 with their defeat by Hezbollah in Lebanon. Whether they claim that d drone was detected in time b4 it was shot down isnt d issue, but what it proves is that Israeli airspace can be penetrated thus putting to rest another myth. If Israel attacks Iran d world will witness d most mutually destructive war in history. While Israel, of course with US backing, will be tempted to use its nuclear arsenal,Iran and d middle east countries that will line behind her hav deadly chemical weapons and will deliver them to Israeli with equally destructive effect. Germ warfare is also a possibility. 2012 is not 1967; its not going to be a walkover. Both Israel and Iran and entire middle east will lay waste in d event of Israel/US-instigated war on Iran.D dog and the baboon will be bloodied. There will be no winners-all will be losers.

Yes, you can. The opinion of ulamas is that a number of people can contribute towards the purchase of the animal for ileya and be rewarded. That is the beauty of islam: Allah does not impose difficulty on Muslims more than they can bear. We thank Allah always for guiding us to the light of His religion. Please note that in Islam you are never compelled to do what is beyond your means and strength. The ileya is a sunnah for those who can afford it without having to stretch themselves. Everyone just need to go their separate ways to save future generations..

frosbel: 95% of bibles are in total agreement, no please don't tempt me to talk about the Quran or even ISLAM , trust me I am always ready for this debate as well , grin

Let us just say that the Bible , Jesus and PAUL support ONE GOD ONLY , but MEN , especially those wicked evil men in the Vatican have used tradition and paganism to corrupt their Catholicism.

You are a Muslim so I expect you to know much about the Catholic crusades and how they massacred tens of thousands of Muslims, Christians and Jews who rejected their Pagan creeds.
Dont bring Islam in here: The contradictions in the bible which u admit has nothing to do with Islam or muslims. You said "95% of bibles are in total agreement". Is the 5% not in agreement word of man or word of God? Is God contradicting Himself in the bibles? Of ccourse God is consistent in truth so the contracditions are evidence that a whopping 5% (by your own admission) of the bible is word of man. No wonder they keep revising it , even expunging whole portions: if you remove a portion of "word of God" it means you are saying what you are doing away with is not word of God. Now lets hear how you contradict yourself by trying to explain away this fraud of some people writing something and palming it off as word of God. Your pastime of islam bashing is no answer pls.
Christianity Etc › Re: Dilemma : Is GOD a Trinity by mu2sa2: 11:27pm On Oct 08, 2012
From this thread it's confirmed that there are different versions of the bible. Someone is accusing the catholics of corrupting the bible; Jehovah witnesses have their version; orthodox hav one, kjv, revised(yes, revised ) international version etc. Are these all word of God? Kai, this is confusion and nothing but confusion. No wonder if one person quotes a verse another person will quote a different verse to contradict it - can God contradict himself? Conclusion: word of man can never be word of God.full stop.

TroGunn: The part of 1 John 5:7 that you quoted is generally regarded as not part of the Bible - it's missing in older manuscripts so it was likely added by Catholic controled translation to buttress the Trinity doctrine. Most modern Bible translations, rightly remove these text - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comma_Johanneum

According to the Bible, Jesus existed before being born on earth so the creation account likely referred to him. It does not make him equal to God. It's clear from the Scriptures that Jesus is subordinate to God. There is only one Almighty God.
"rightly remove these text" and u call your book word of God. What was the status of the words before they were "rightly" removed - word of God or word of man? U hav inadvertently expose d falacy in ur "word of God" - a book which man can choose to remove portions or revise as he pleases - can that be word of God?

ignis: OP,
Please save us this rigmarole. Go and tell it to the birds. For all i
care. If the muslims are really disheartened that the activities of
bokoharam are tarnishing their so called religion, why are they not
showing any concern to cur the menance. Boko harams have been in action
since over five years ago and has claimed thousands of lives (mostly
christians) in the name of islam. Yet not even a single protest to
condemn the inhuman and barbaric act. But a movie that was shot few
weeks ago in America, which most muslims dont even know the title of the
movie has attracted massive public protest and uproar in Nigeria by the
muslims.
I hate reading this type of bias and trashy articles usually written by
an idle person.
The post is meant for people like u with biassed attitude towards islam, but you are not ready to be educated, so continue in your self-imposed ignorance. Whatever your view about Islam is wont affect islam in any way. Painting islam in the negative by Orietalists who brought christianity to Africa has been going on for centuries. But the religion of Allah cannot be stopped by d evil machination of man and jinns combined. Today in the Western countries their people are discovering Islam and converting, something that is alarming to enemies of islam hence d hyping of the negative propaganda even here on NL. On boko haram, every one knows how they had been hobnobbing with politcians and when they fell out they started using religion as a smokescreen to justify their activities. How justifiable is it to blame 1.7 billion Muslims for d actions of a few hundred renegade people? Many peoplr like u claim to follow Jesus but ar hypocrites: we know that Jesus would not approve of d attitude exihibited by u people.

Your post should educate your xtian brethren in nigeria. in Isreal today if a jew converts to xtianity that will be the beginning of his troubles with other Jews who dont care a hoot about xtianity. D death of any human being is an occasion for sober reflection, no matter what we think of the deceased. When Yusuf was killed some people rejoiced, but his death resulted in even more violence by boko haram. D killing of shekau, if confirmed, may not necessarily end boko haram insurgency given that there is no doubt that they hav sympathizers who may go underground for awhile to re-strategise. D insurgency will not end by killing 1,20 or 10,000 BH members; the end will only come when d root causes are resolved: illiteracy, dehumanising poverty, insensitive leaders, corruption etc. D members still alive hav their guns and explosives as well as training and expertise, and the entire NE is teeming with BH supporters - wouldn't it be foolish to think BH is finished for now.
