Christianity Etc › Re: Why Don’t Nigerian Pastors Preach Contentment? *picture* by mu2sa2: 4:29pm On Oct 07, 2012
These pastors established their churches to "make it"; that's their primary aim - to make money and live in opulance. How can the pastor preach contentment, the exact opposite of the raison d'etre of setting up a church. I am not just making a wild allegation: Someone told me some years ago that a jounalist friend was posted to lagos. When he came back to town sometime after, he asked him about life in lagos. He replied that he didn't want to die poor so he had set up a church and he hoped to make money from the church. This is a true story; it actually happened. Maybe the guy is now bearing one grandiose title and living big with his churh. These churches you see around are just money-making ventures for the pastor and a few of his hangers on. I often wonder how hapless, gullible, ignorant people waste their time and money in these Godless places.

Fasterboy: Nairaland is a true representaion of Nigeria. I pray that this country will soon divide let me see how these Yoruba fooools will survive.
You tell us into how many countries Nigeria should divide- 36(no. of states) or 774(no. of local govts) or 250 (no. of tribes). All the people saying Nigeria should divide are SICK.

uncle u: The only thing I know about the war was that when the war ended, the Nigerian soldier came to my village, told all the men to come out and dig trenches. They shot all the men including my two uncles. They claimed my village haboured Biafran soldiers. My father was yet to come back from the war front hence he was spared. How can I wake up one day and forget this?
There's no bitterness in your post. You dont look like you ar blaming anybody. That's d way to deal with a tragedy. To forget about it is simple: just take it that d soldiers acted in error and u hav forgiven them on your part as human.Shikena.
Politics › Re: Achebe On Awolowo: Has He Gone Too Far? by mu2sa2:
Cyberknight: I think we should stop fighting old battles and prepare for new ones. The civil war is over and gone, the disputed legacy may or may not live on; that's a previous chapter in a history book. Let's look around at whats going on now. For example, the exodus from the North increases every day due to insecurity and killings with people selling up property at rock bottom prices and getting out, Lagos is being slowly turned into Eko Republic while the federal government adopts a policy of siddon look, what with the deportations of people to Onitsha, Kaduna and Abeokuta and the order for all cars on Lagos roads to have Lagos number plates, and the draconian laws and heavy taxation whose obvious aim is to make it prohibitively expensive to live here and drive people out, Bayelsa has adopted a separate state identity with a flag and an anthem, etc, etc. I do believe that the internal strains pushing and pulling on this huge, artificial construct called Naija are too strong to be resisted indefinitely and the whole edifice will come crashing down. The only question is - when?

P.S. For any of those who wants to read Achebe's book, its available on Amazon for 10 pounds. Amazon delivers to Nigeria.
Nigeria is "artificial construct" in your eyes. Tell us how many countries on Earth are not. Homogeneity has even turned a curse in Somalia! Brother, God has given us Nigeria but people like you think Nigeria is a mistake!
Islam › Re: Lady Gaga Is Offending Muslims by mu2sa2: 8:15pm On Oct 06, 2012
Lady gaga clearly sets out to provoke muslims. I am always amused by the hypocrisy of some non-muslims to Islam and muslims. If u ar not a muslim why obsession with Islam and muslims. U hav your religion and muslims hav their religion. But u see insane individuals insult prophet muhammed and Islam to provoke muslims and when muslims react they blame Islam and muslims.

Politics › Re: Northern Elders Are Hypocrites, Says Jimeta by mu2sa2: 11:35am On Oct 06, 2012
Tell me the politician that is not an hypocrite. D nature of today's politics is that u lie to people and rig the vote, and u are declared the winner by the election commission. The corrupt judges at the election petition tribunals will then confirm ur "victory" by declaring that d election was in substantial compliance with the electoral law. Next, d religious figures will pray over the "well-deserved victory". This is the charade will call democracy.
Crime › Re: Man Jailed And Given 600 Lashes For Offering Himself Online by mu2sa2:
slimming: That is the consequence of living under the law of men, it punishes for sin and have no provision for repentance.

Thank Jesus for the provision of grace
I can see the religious slant of your post. But you are living under the law of men. Every country in d world punishes violators of its laws and Saudi Arabia is not an exception.U talk about sin and repentance, fine, where in d world do u raise that as excuse for a crime. In fact the man is lucky that he is being offered an opportunity for reformation - hopefully he will overcome his negative tendencies soon. Mark u even here in Nigeria attempt to commit an offence is punishable as if u hav committed d offence. Do not be blinded by prejudice and bias, the Saudi judicial system is by far more humane than ours where d law and its application, riddled with indescribable corruption, is for sale. The lashing is not meant to inflict pain, but to shame d convict - that is why it is governed by very strict and elaborate rules, and punishment of lashing is restricted to a few offences considered morally despicable and socially corrupting.Gay and lesbianism hav no place in an Islamic country.
Family › Re: ' I Sold My Child For N4M And I Want Him Back Now' by mu2sa2: 8:25am On Oct 06, 2012
This story is a lesson to all about the futility of putting our trust in money.Like many other people in d world, the lady thought that with money all her problems
will be solved. That is d grave mistake most people make today that is leading to all sorts of evils like robbery, kidnapping, theft, corruption, murder, 419, bribe taking, inflation of government contracts, lying etc. We should always remember that no amount of money or material possession can heal a guilty conscience. ("Conscience is an open wound; Only truth can heal it" - Uthman Dan Fodio). We must not forget that the founders of the two religions most people profess in nigeria preached and lived a simple lifestyle. If u ignore their teaching u will always consider money as ur saviour and wont mind do anything to get.

Why do they make the vow "Till death do us part" when they know they won't keep it. These naija "men of God" should stop deceiving themselves and their gullible, confused, ignorant followers with divorce for "spiritual reasons". D same divorce they preahed for ages as evil is what these fraudsters are now glorifying!!! They will be soon be indulging in every evil for "spiritual reasons" (that is, if they are not doing it already). Na wa for this religion o.
Christianity Etc › Re: Pastor Adeboye: Don't Marry Outside The Redeemed Christian Church by mu2sa2: 6:47am On Oct 05, 2012
What Adegboye said isn't peculiar - other church leaders are also telling their followers not to hav anything to do with members of other churches. There are many christianities and each is claiming to be in d right. So when u say u are a christian, u need to be asked which of the christianities u belong to since there ar thousands and thousands of christianities.
Don't be stupiid in church you don't write your name on tithes. Tithes usually come with envelop and go into tithe box. Politics › Re: Northern Muslims Demand N105bn Compensation From FG For Genocide by mu2sa2: 3:31pm On Oct 04, 2012
These people were targeted and killed in large numbers because they are Hausa/Fulani. Almost all of them are Muslims. Their assailants are the non-Hausa indigenes who are christians. So we had a situation in southern Kaduna which was mainly ethnic but also tangentially religious. D victims hav taken their case to ecowas court because they failed to get justice in kaduna State, whose governor comes from the ethnic group that carried out the ruthless massacre of the hausa/Fulani and seem not keen to take on his own people for the killings.
Politics › Re: Abacha's Son Is The Izon-Ebidouwei Of Ijawland : Highest Title by mu2sa2: 2:05pm On Oct 03, 2012
Gen. Abacha was and is still being villified by a particular section of the country. They claimed his boys murdered certain activists, but we know how tribalists and criminals masquerading as democrats were planning to overthrow and kill Abacha. Abacha did his best for the country and d recognition which d Ijaws are giving him now shows the maturity and appreciative nature of the Ijaw, something that other nigerians should emulate. Now, if u say Abacha stole govt money, he is a saint given the looting going on now, even by his accusers. Abacha's soul rests in peace now and the hypocrites who tried to tarnish his name are shamed.

Slight differences in interpretation of the bible and deciding to attend Pastor Ayebode's church doesn't mean that you follow a different religion or serve a different God from your cousin who attends Pastor Oyedepo's church.

This is unlike another famous religion, where Sunni and Shiite have been killing each other for 1000+ years now...and are still at loggerheads to this day grin
"Slight differences"? Who do u think will fall for that? Is tb joshua's synagogue slightly different from catholic? Is ethiopian orthodox slightly different from winners in nigeria? Haba, what has sunni vs shia got to d confusion we ar talking about.

Car Talk › Re: What To Do If You See A Pothole At 100km/hr Speed Or Above? by mu2sa2: 7:50am On Sep 29, 2012
Denn: Fatal can also mean " causing destruction, misfortune, ruin, or failure: The withdrawal of funds was fatal to the project."

The guy ruined some expensive vehicle parts and it could have been "fatal" to his pocket

Source: dictionary.com
An accident that does not involve loss of life is not a fatal accident; you may correctly describe such accident as "ghastly".
Islam › Re: Alhaji Lateef Adegbite Is Dead by mu2sa2:
May God rest his soul."Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction!"(Quran Chap 4:78) The death of anyone is a reminder to d living that life on Earth is ephemeral and money, power and material things we hanker after amount to empty nothingness.

D villagers know these robbers; in fact they themselves may be robbers - remember that armed robbery in Nigeria started in the east in d 70s after civil war. Police intelligence should fish out these criminals - but it has to be real intelligence coup across the whole of SS & SE states because the local people will not cooperate with the security forces. D menace of armed robbery is d greatest security challenge facing Nigeria today, not Boko haram. Boko haram have specific targets but no one is safe from armed robbers- they can strike anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

Somebody being so called celebrity (man or woman)doesnt mean he or she is a good husband or wife. Some of these so called celebrity women/ men ar totally irresponsible at home toward their spouses and children. I am therefore not surprised to hear these stories, though am not condemning Edoho or Azzai because I havent heard their own side of the story. Any form of violence is evil - ALL violence:man on wife and vice versa, madam on househelp, police/soldier on civilian, lastma men on driver, teacher on student etc.

Ehindero has only been charged and NLers ar talking as if he's been convicted. Like many high profile cases before it, this one will soon fizzle out and you wont here anything about it again, the same way ex-Senate president Nwabara's 55m naira bribe case went. Apart from our judicial system been sluggish, d judges are now terribly corrupt like the politicians who nominate them for appointment. Nigeria is surely in a quagmaire:corrupt political leaders, corrupt judges, corrupt police.Corruption,Corruption,Corruption,Corruption,Corruption,Corruption,Corruption - EVERYWHERE. Who will bail out d country?

Of all d things OP said "Live within your means" is the most important. I hav observed that we ar wasteful in this country - both govt and people. I hav always wondered why people spend so much money on wasting assets like motor vehicles and wearing apparels. Why expensive parties year in year out by d same family? What's d point about lavish birthday parties for every member of d household? Will u lose anything if u dont celebrate birthday every year - if u must, how about doing it at 5 or 10 years intervals for adults and every other year for children? Why change cars unnecessarily or keep multiple cars? Why eat out when u can prepare wholesome meals at home? We should cut out waste and live within our means. If we dont curb the waste in our lifestyle I dont see how we can move forward.

Jubilee12: Reallyhuh seriouslyhuh And the killing of Moslems in Pakistan is as a result of some religious or political issues? And it is okay for Assad in Syria to kill Moslemshuh Pleeeeeease, you guys just always choose which side best suits your argument? Where is the whole Moslem world when the Syrian are being slaughtered daily? Are they not defenseless Moslems? You guys would rather raise arms over an Arab nonentity in the US rather than save and deliver your fellow Moslems from the hands of a dictator!
What is happening in Syria is a war instigated by d West to kill Assad and destroy Syria using mercenaries in order to appease Jews.As for denigrating Prophet Muhammad, d film producer knows d consequences of doing that, so d idle people talking rubbish about d reaction against d film ar hypocrites.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Pakistani Minister Offers Bounty On Anti-Islam Filmmaker's Head by mu2sa2: 10:06pm On Sep 22, 2012
American Christians ar killing hundreds of innocent muslims in Pakistan using drones. The honourable minister simply wants to pay America back. Besides, d producer of the film set outs to provoke muslims and he (or they) ar getting d prize for doing that. D enemies of Islam ar wasting their time. D ink is dried - no matter what they do or write or plot Islam will wax stronger.Let them plan and plot against Islam even more, but Allah is d best of planners and will always raise His religion over their plot.Allahu Akbar is now heard in every corner of the world.
