I pity you, Tudor. How you still define the word 'illiterate' portraits your ignorance and stupendous stupidity, for its the same way colonial masters did in the early 20th century when they first set their put in the North.

Who is illiterate? Go anywhere and ask: any person who can read and write cannot be called by that name. And the Northerners, since then and now, majority of them can, at least, read Arabic letters and write in Arabic-based Hausa, i.e. Ajami. Are they illiterates?

Carter Decries Gaza Curbs, Asks Israel to Halt 'Abuse'

By Howard Schneider
Washington Post Foreign News
Wednesday, June 17, 2009

JERUSALEM, June 16 -- Former president Jimmy Carter said Tuesday that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip were being treated "more like animals than human beings" by Israeli rules that have limited travel, banned the import of all but basic goods and prevented reconstruction since a three-week war ended earlier this year.

"Never before in history has a large community been savaged by bombs and missiles and then deprived of the means to repair itself," he said.

Carter called the situation "a terrible human rights crime," noting that the restrictions force people to rely on smugglers for many items.

"This abuse must cease. The crimes must be investigated. The wall must be brought down, and the basic right of freedom must come to you," he said at a United Nations school during a visit to Gaza that included meetings with top officials of the Islamist Hamas group, which holds power in the area.

Israel has imposed economic, financial and other restrictions on Gaza in an effort to undermine the group, whose armed wing has fired thousands of rockets and mortars at Israel. In response to the rocket fire, Israel launched a war against Hamas in late December. Israeli officials say they will maintain the embargo until they are certain that shipments into Gaza will not benefit the organization, whose founding charter advocates Israel's eradication.

The United States considers Hamas a terrorist group, though President Obama has called on Israel to relax the restrictions and acknowledged in a recent speech in Cairo that the organization has support among Palestinians.

Carter, who met with Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas leader in Gaza, said he told the group's officials that they should halt attacks, recognize Israel and join peace talks.

"They have made statements and taken actions that suggest they are ready," Carter said, referring to a recent meeting he had in Syria with exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshal. Carter said Meshal told him that Hamas would accept a peace agreement if Palestinians approve it in a referendum.

Haniyeh said the group would accept an agreement if Israel returned all land it occupied in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

"If there is a real project that aims to resolve the Palestinian cause on establishing a Palestinian state on 1967 borders, under full Palestinian sovereignty, we will support it," Haniyeh said. He did not say whether that would involve recognizing Israel or agreeing to halt Hamas's armed resistance.

The United States has no official contact with Hamas, and a State Department official said Carter went to Gaza as a private citizen.

Madonna Wins Adoption Appeal

Madonna has won her appeal to adopt a second child from Malawi. On June 12, the country's highest court overturned a lower court's earlier decision and praised Madonna for her commitment to helping children in need.

Her charity, Raising Malawi, works to educate, feed and give medical care to more than one million orphans in Malawi. Three-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James will reportedly be flown by private jet to Madonna's New York home within the next five days.

Sep 14, 2006 20:07 | Updated Sep 14, 2006 20:24 10 IDF soldiers incarcerated for rape

By http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satelli, cle%2FShowFull

10 IDF soldiers from the Negev air force base of Navatim were incarcerated on Thursday afternoon for their part in the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
The soldiers were sentenced to 21-42 months military incarceration for "shameful behavior."
Nine of those who were sentenced admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl. One soldier refused to admit his guilt; however, his colleagues incriminated him.
Next week, an additional 20 soldiers are set to be sentenced, along with two non-commissioned officers who have been accused of inappropriate behavior as they were aware of the rape but chose not to report it.
A senior IDF officer said that the reason the perpetrators were not indicted in a civil court was that the girl and her family had refused to cooperate, saying they would not testify in a civil trial.

Christianity in Five Minutes

Khalid Yasin embraced Islam in 1965 and is currently the Director of the Islamic Teaching Institute in the USA. He specializes in a variety of topics and areas including: Youth, Islamic History, Culture, community development and Dawah work. He has lectured in a variety of places and locations both nationally and internationally and has been the means by which a large number of non-Muslims have reverted to Islam.

Extracts from the lecture:

Mathew, Luke, mark and john who were they?

Mathew who?

Luke who?

John Who?

And mark who?

What were their last names?

When did they write?

Did they know Jesus Christ (PBUH)?

Did they walk with Jesus Christ (PBUH)?

Did they eat with Jesus Christ (PBUH)?

Did they talk to Jesus Christ (PBUH)?

Did they even meet Jesus Christ (PBUH) PBUH)??!

The answer is NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Conclusively they wrote those books 40 years after Jesus Christ (PBUH) PBUH) they never met him

The last one they wrote was 80 years after Jesus Christ (PBUH) they never met him

The other thing is all of them seem to have written the gospel (pause) according to
According to according to according to!!!

Now when you write a letter do you sign it according to? (Sigh!)

According to is the third party!

When Jacky, Johnny or bobby told me something and I wrote it I would say according to Joe, Johnny Tommy or bobby.

According to.

But those four people would not write a letter and in front of it say Jacky according to
Jacky.

They not even right their last names.

Because if Jacky right me a check and only write Jacky I couldn't cash it. And if I was a
Policeman and I stop Johnny on the road and he has a license that only say Jacky he is going to jail. (Laugh! from the audience)

Where in the world is a document with only one name of four different writers that didn't
Meet the one whom they writing about where is that accepted in the whole world?

No where except in the Bible.

And the church fathers, historians and the Christian writers. They all agree that perhaps
Those four writers themselves were only pen names.

Because a writer would not write his own only first name ACCORDING TO.

There is a great amount of suspicion that the man called Paul, Saul of Tarsus because he
Wrote all books from acts all the way to the end of the New Testament, How many books is that?

How many?? 15, 16, 17 or 19!!!

All those books of Acts Colossian Corinthians Romans Ephesians Galatians all of those books are written by whom?

PAUL Saul of Tarsus.

Another man who never talked who never walked, never eat, never met, never prayed
Who never knew Jesus Christ (PBUH) (PBUH) isn't that somethinghuh!!

Now here we find a four writers and another one between them that wrote all the new
Testament books:

They never talked never walked never eat never met and never prayed the man called
Jesus Christ (PBUH)!

Yet in their words the first mentioning of the Trinity came from where??!

From Jesus Christ (PBUH) or from them?

The first mentioning of Jesus Christ (PBUH) being divine a man god came from whom?!

From them.

The first mentioning that Jesus Christ (PBUH) being son of god came from whom?

From them.

Jesus Christ (PBUH) never said in his words any such words, but that was the man who never met him to claim to have written who didn't know their last names.

And Paul by the way- before he had that vision on the road to Damascus that only he saw and only he heard, Guess what his occupation washuh (Pause)

Do you know?!!

He was a bounty hunter!!!

A hunter! Of Christians!! Hunting them down like animals!! And binding them and bringing them to where?!!

To Rome so that they could be Executed.

Now if Hitler after killing thousands of Jews says to on the road to Berlin he had a vision
That he was named an apostle to the Jews and he wrote 20 books that all the Jews suppose to follow Do you think they would be following that book?

I don't understand how people just don't read history.

This is not what Khalid said so don't get angry with me. This is your own scriptures your
Own bibles scholars your own church fathers all of them agree! That Paul never met Jesus Christ (PBUH).
That John, Luke, Mark and Mathew never met Jesus Christ (PBUH).

By the way they were not disciples.

Nor were they talkers and walkers of the disciples, they were just writers and historians."

noetic2:
I have NEVER heard of anyone who accepted islam based on convictions. its always based on "research" and "indepth" analyses. grin
@Noetic2

It's because the religion and many of its followers are rather being looked at and regarded displeasedly, negatively and as inferior. Moreover, some practicing Muslims don't do it the way it should be and practiced by the prophet, his companions and the salafus-salih, i.e. learned scholars. Hence it's nowadays only via that channel one could come up with a clear view of what the religion is about.

For instance, its evidently enough that you and other davidylans on this board have a sheer apprehension and aversion for the religion, talk less its followers. But if you would, one day, shun away all these and take a close, objective and unbiased look at it, its true teaching and so on and so forth, I assure you you'll understand a lot. And will certainly purge yourself from the, huh

Good luck.

Assalamu alaikum, my Muslim brothers and sisters,

All thats there to be said have been aptly said by my senior members like Olabs, Lagosboy, littleb and the rest. Thanks very much. And may the Almighty Allah bless, ameen.

A few words to you, A'isha; compose yourself and think reflectively. We are not on this earth to solely just love and then get marriage. But to purposely worship our Creator, i.e. Allah (SWT). And He ordaines marriage as his worshipping. Thus, do also consider marriage a worshipping of Allah. Hence don't dare marrying a non-Muslim guy--no matter how, on the surface, he shows love to you. It's not, as it cannot be, a real love. It's a pretext.

Moreover, take the hint of going to your mosque; enquire your Imam if there is any ready-made suitor of sterling quality religiously and what have you. And more so, pray humbly and tirelesly, inshaAllah, your prayer would be answered.

Wish you all the best.

IslamImam Says U.s. Initiative Can Resolve Middle East Tensions by muhsin(op): 1:37pm On Jun 12, 2009
Written by -

The Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque Alhaji Akiniola Garuba said on Saturday that the new U.S. peace initiative could resolve the lingering tensions in the Middle East.

U.S. President Barack Obama addressed Muslim leaders in Cairo on June 4 to enlist their support in reviving the stalled Middle East peace talks and the war against terrorists.

The address was also part of a broader effort to redirect U.S. foreign policy which has alienated allies and fuelled a wave of anti-Americanism in the Muslim world.

Garuba told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the initiative was a confirmation of the optimism of Muslim clerics on Obama’s capability to resolve the U.S.-Muslim face-off.

``Islamic clerics and scholars were agreed that Obama held the hope that lingering hostilities in the Middle East could be resolved during his tenure,’’ he said.

The cleric explained that Obama’s Muslim background was a good credential which would assist him in understanding the feelings of Muslim leaders.

Israelis 'insulted' by Obama photo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Israeli media have described as 'offensive' a photo of US President Barack Obama, resting his feet on his desk while talking to the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the telephone.

The photograph which depicts Obama's shoe-soles in the White House's Oval Office, while he is 'dictating' orders on to Netanyahu over the phone, read the Israeli papers, according to Huffington Post.

They went on to ridicule Obama's recent speech in Egypt, in which he had, for the first time, referred to a 'Palestinian State' rather than Palestinians as people.

"Listen up and write 'Palestinian State' a hundred times. That's right, Palestine, with a P," an Israeli news outlet interpreted Obama's picture as denoting.

So far, there has been no reaction from the US administration officials on the alleged offensiveness of the photo. It could not independently be confirmed that the photo was shot while Obama was on the phone with Netanyahu.

Israeli media have criticized Obama's approach to the Middle East.

Israeli newscasters see the incident as rather analogous to an episode last year, when the Iraqi reporter, Muntadher al-Zaidi hurled his shoes at the then US president Bush in Baghdad during his farewell press conference.
