I am getting worried by the increasing number of uniformed 'agitations' religious leaders are executing these days. The link below has this news item and the previous announcement by the Sultan: http://pulse.ng/local/eid-el-kabir-fg-not-sultan-of-sokoto-should-declare-public-holiday-says-christian-groups-id5464554.html?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily-2016-09-07&utm_source=newsletter It's like people who one expects to have done a proper homework simply expose their ignorance in public glare. Nowhere in the reports was it stated that the Sultan declared a public holiday. In fact, as I write this, the FG is yet to declare public holiday for Eid-il-Kabir. So much intolerance around. We call on the federal government to rise to its task and cease abdicating its responsibilities to the head of a religion. We do not want what happened during the time of Abacha, when Sultan Dasuki was dethroned by Abacha to repeat itself. |
For a culture that abhors the use of the left hand, there's more to it than meets the eye with the picture. Not only is the driver expressing his 'inner disdain' (unfortunately, he has no choice) by handing his 'offering', the policeman is well aware of this and he also uses his left hand to collect the package. Do me, I do you! |
dapachez:It's not about their knowledge of the system of government, rather it's about esteem issues; a demand for respect rather than earning it; a need to create an aura of fear in order for civilians to be afraid of them and finally, a need to deal with some people 'lower' than them as a result of the sufferings earned at military school and by other senior officers. It's a mentality issue in summary. Soldiers are disciplined by nature. However, it's one thing to instill discipline, it's another thing to act it. |
Don't know why I am still curious about the size of the pebble. |
Charly68:Please explain this. |
The game will definitely bring back nostalgic feelings to even non-supporters of Arsenal. The 4th goal by Pires (from Ljunberg's assist) reminded you of the great Arsenal team back then. Pires still has the physique, Wenger was happy with Kanu's penalty and Seaman - ohhhhhh. I bet Wenger would have wished he had these students to coach once more. Nice game all the same. |
naptu2:Here's the first half: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BBvQpc7Vhw |
Our time is come OMG |
Where are Drogba's teammates Is he aiming to score from the 'FreeKickCorner' position? |
First of, what was his (Zuckerberg's) itinerary like - was his journey about visiting governments ![]() Secondly, that they are far apart in a picture or closer in a picture does not mean the future of ICT in Nigeria will be any better or worse. Thirdly, if Zuckerberg was taking selfies with President Buhari, was that tantamount to "meeting Africa's elder statesman"? Reno didn't do a neat job in this review abeg. Even the Mucheru guy is 50, not '40s' as Reno would have us believe. I think I would just borrow the words of this guy: modelmike7:These days, people just post pictures and tilt us into their subjective directions.

jrupa:The OP is so disrespectful. Experience is the best teacher - I hope s/he is snapped unaware some day and becomes a news item! |
IamLEGEND1:KCB - Kenyan Commercial Bank. Kenya seems to have a large depository of oddities for these bloggers to munch on! Hope they don't start another NigeriavsKenya stuff again. |
lofty900:There are OAPs and there are OAPs. The population of Lagos alone is enough to make him popular on 'just a radio station' that has got a large number of listeners. Before NL was given birth to, the Ibadan boy has been popular in Lagos. Well, we can't know everybody. |
The headline is misleading. Michelle and BBOG have made the girls diamond and gold like BH guys said. They are also aware that holding these girls is the asset they've got in a dying battle. The effect of the Chibok girls stuff is the untold stories of other citizens that have been kidnapped or killed by BH. In fact, we seem to have forgotten about the boys that were murdered in their hostels. Intelligence could have helped us in rescuing these girls a long time ago. We deal with these issues with a helicopter view rather than working with the foot soldiers. Interestingly, Aisha's origin shows the unity in our diversity. While some want to continue dividing us along ethnic and religious lines, reality appears to be telling us a different story. |
Dshocker:From the bottom of your heart Na you love her pass? I guess you're not aware of couples who have such age differences. This is just one year difference by the way. Dare Art Alade and Donald Duke are just a few to mention. |
CuteTj:Nice. So much trumped up pictures, statements and documents circulate these days and we all discuss gossips, not news. It doesn't take Dalung that long to laugh at such posts. The effect of this pictorial evidence thingy flying on social media is the exposure of confidential information and signatures being exposed. Tomorrow, anyone can adopt such template and make use of such to either defraud unsuspecting individuals or cook a story about an individual. By the time, the truth comes out, the damaged would have been done. |
Osyabj:90 pilgrims. Approximately 4.1 million Nigerians and the game of numbers Only wish the numbers could be used positively. |
Basketmouth should have just apologised. Comedy does not need to 'core messy'. |
Jarus:Artee Group owns Spar and Cash n' Carry AIG bought over Jumia and collapsed the other guys into one. There are so many other companies and industries the Lebanese and Indians own especially in Lagos and Ogun respectively. Similarly, like Northerners, they trade a lot so access to the North has always been easy. Knowing the history of Indians in SA, it's no surprise how SA businesses come to Nigeria too! Most sophisticated supermarket or stores are foreign owned as they have the capital to fund the equipment etc that makes shopping easy. Nigerians create artificial barriers when it comes to doing business here and some times, those barriers kill us and helps them. In some cases though, the barriers affect everyone. For example, there's a reason why Shoprite cannot enter PH till today while Spar is the biggest mall in the city. Going to radio, let's look at the following: 88.9 Brilla FM - onwed by Brilla Group (Nigerian) 89.75 Eko FM - onwed by LASG (Nigerian) 90.9 Top Radio - Nigerian owned 91.3 Lagos Talks, 97.3 Classic Fm, 99.9 Beat Fm and 102.7 Naija Fm - onwed by Megaletrics (Nigerian) 91.7 WFm - onwed by Nigerians 92.3 Inspiration FM - owned by Erastus Akingbola (Nigerian) 92.9 Bond fm, 97.7 Metro fm and 103.5 Radio one - owned by FGN (Nigerian) 93.7 Rhythm FM - owned by Bruce (Nigerian) 94.1 Rainbow FM - owned by Keke Ogungbe, (Nigerian) 95.1 Wazobia FM, 96.9 Cool Fm and 99.3 Nigeria Info - owned by Amin (Lebanese naturalised to a Nigerian) 96.1 Traffic Radio - owned by LASG 96.5 Urban Radio - Nigerians 98.1 Smooth FM - owned by this Lagos big boy (forgotten his name but Nigerian) 98.5 Sound city (Tajudeen et al, Nigerian) 98.9 Kiss FM (Nigerian) 100.5 Ray Power - onwed by Dokpesi (Nigerian) 101.5 Star FM - owned by Murtala (Nigerian) 102.3 Radio Continental - owned by Continental Broadcasting Services (Nigerian) 103.1 Unilag Radio (UNILAG) 104.9 SMA FM - owned by SMA College; Nigerian onwed 105.1 City FM - Nigerian owned 106.5 Fàájì FM - (DAAR Communications), Nigeria owned 106.9 NOUN Radio (NOUN) Naptu2, please help above ^^ if there's any omission or correction or modification. Amin had been in Nigeria for a long time, he saw an opportunity and tapped into it. Radio needs to serve a particular set of people, maybe that's why it's not such an industry foreigners want to venture into. Amin has sort of challenged our people too through the creation of Nigeria Info and Wazobia fm. Now, he has ventured into TV and that's just the media aspect of his business. Foreigners will continue tapping into glaring and existing business opportunities that make Nigerians give up as a result of stereotyping and PhD syndrome. |
naptu2:Please who are these foreigners I want to believe these are Nigerians of mixed race or Nigerians who grew up in these foreign countries. The move is beyond ridiculous. |
naptu2:Naptu2 the researcher, do you have a compilation of athletes interviewed in Rio 2016 There was one common denominator - lack of support. Very soon, aside those who fail to qualify for the games, those who will represent us at future tournaments are those abroad who want to pity their country and represent her. Our basketball team is an example and I notice the increasing number of 'Oyinbo' Nigerians who have better facilities to make use of.It is interesting that the same Portugal that 'rejected' Obikwelu accepted him to win Bronze (I think) at Athens 2004. These are countries that value athletes. I learnt that the present athletes at Rio 2016 may be 'stranded' in Brazil since their flight was scheduled for September but they have to leave the Olympics Camp. Anyway, Sydney 2000 signaled the end of the golden age IMO - Obikwelu and Alozie gave us the signs for us to take note of. Our relay team finally got their medal back from USA and Deji tried his best. Nigerian authorities will continue to neglect our athletes to the detriment of our growth. Corruption is not just about stealing, it's also about diversion of funds for other purposes other than intended -the effects bite us in all sectors. The Paralympians and their experiences is another sad tale to tell despite their consistency in putting Nigeria on the medals table ![]() |
“Why did he meet with 19 states governors, without southern governors, is Nigeria the north alone, why did you go to the north alone?” he asked. This statement means that by meeting with 19 state governors, there's "a siege on Christians" despite the fact that the governor of the following 19 states are Christians: 1. Simon Lalong (Plateau) 2. Darius Ishaku (Taraba) 3. Samuel Ortom (Benue) 4. Darius Ishaku (Adamawa) It's getting alarming that we are carelessly playing ethno-religious cards at any slight opportunity. |
FoxyFlow:Depravity abounds these days, it's no longer in the heads. Elephant tusk = ivory. Ivory tower a là education and the institution being one (the book indicates that). Osun State makes Opa Oranmiyan (Oranmiyan's Staff) more relevant. |
aflyingbird:What about Herbert Macaulay? Whenever you hear such names, just have it in mind that they have some connection with slave trade in the past. Returnees from Brazil and other countries. |
aflyingbird:Wellington, Da Silva, Costa, Davies, Martins, etc - sometimes history determines some Nigerian names. |
Firstlieutenant:It's not every silly thought you have that you spill out. Behave like the first lieutenant your moniker aspires to be, withdraw and modify your comment. It was unnecessary and irresponsible of you to post that. Respect people even if you think your anonymity online is falsely protecting you. |
HILARIOUS has become such an abused word though. |
