I quite understand the partisan stance of the lecturer - I think we are overflogging his trying to prove a point. Like some have rightly pointed, accounting isn't just about book keeping however, cost accountants are an example. Additionally when we mention analysts, they do need some knowledge of both fields. That's the more reason why economics and FR are usually visible in syllabi of professional bodies' examinations. Both are intertwined - in school, they tell you Economics is the father of all management courses which is quite true ![]() |

Tolexander: may God not let any of you to port.1. The report clearly states they have been together for a decade. 2. There's this erroneous impression that Saka is/was a poor man due to the roles he played. 3. Roles are definitely make-believe - some act poor roles in movies and are rich in real life and vice-versa. 4. Not everyone uses money as a benchmark to satisfaction. This man loves what he does, he also loves lecturing. When you're good at what you doeth, money go flow. He wasn't a 'desperate' man hence, the impression that the guy dey struggle is wrong. Whilst everyone like beta tin, that misconception shouldn't be touted as 'fact'. |
Built2last: Are you a consultant to the presidency or another Snowden in the making.I like this. In Nigeria, we can never rule out politics! |
matrixme: Dear sir, I would like to thank you warmly for this mature move! You are not clueless as people say afterall! May I humbly suggest the CBN governor for proposing the wicked #5000 note (we've not forgotten anyway!) If you can also push it harder, Senator Yerima and his team should also be extended this courtesy.I don't think you are well aware of you're suggesting. The same senators that can impeach him - he should sack one If he had those powers, he would have been called King GEJ. Senators represent people of their constituencies and the legislature is independent of the executive. The CBN governor too - the president nominates him (UMYA nominated Sanusi, OBJ for Sanusi & Soludo) and the house ratifies this decision. You need to go back to the video where SLS was screened by the house in June 2009. |
Symphony007: Bring back odein ajumogobia as foreign minister.Yeah! |
Olusola Obada is missing on this list! Here's why we'll miss them 1. Ruqqayatu Rufai (Former Education Minister) She was the 'mother of all strikes' if you know what I mean - ASUU, ASUP even However, these strikes don't seem to be doing GEJ's government a favor. We also remember she set the controversial cut-off mark for students from the North who wrote common entrance exams to gain admission into Unity Schools where a male student from Yobe could be admitted with a score of 2 whilst his counterpart in Enugu needed 134. Oh, lastly, we must not also forget this one: she dared the cabal ![]() 2. Mrs. Zainab Kuchi (Former Minister of State for Power) This woman made us remember 'ojuju calabar' 3. Olusola Obada (Former Minister Of State For Defence) I've not really understood the rationale behind her appointment especially considering the fact she has no military background. Well, it's rather ironic that her defence line was not strong when she fainted at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in Abuja early this year. One account says that the minister was taken by surprise by the sounds of artillery fire during the celebration. Another report claimed that the minister slumped due to exhaustion caused by standing for several minutes.Badooooo! ![]() 4. Hadiza Mailafia (Former Minister of Environment) She's not so much in the news except for the recent allegation that her ministry "usually holds on to funds donated by international agencies for the support of environmental projects in Nigeria, thereby causing project delay". ![]() We must not forget the flooding that occurred in some states last year. However, there was one landmark (although not new) - she said Nigerians were the biggest causes of their problems! Paradoxical She told the FEC that "we no dey hear word" and we have very dirty habits and attitudes towards the environment - I support her on this one sha!5. Ama Pepple (Former Minister of Lands) Pepple was our former HOS - Obj 'handpicked' her when he was Baba of the 'old' PDP She was 'easygoing' so she no 'show' herself too much for news.5/9 * 100 = 56% Note this government's stance that the cabinet is 'women friendly' - the replacements will void or prove this! True, politics is also involved here but just some mention about some of the men: 6. Olugbenga Ashiru (Former Minister of Foreign Affairs) This man job no easy wallahi. He more or less represents the Nigerian brand and the consulate offices we have/embassies aren't nice holiday destinations. Moreover, some people have tried to 'kobalize' him on FG's stance concerning gay marriage - how the man go take manage The index of any person who occupies this seat will always start first from our embassies here and there. We must not forget also how FG take vex di way all dese oyibo diplomats go dey put nose for soup wey we cook here - these diplomats had to be warned to 'comment their reserve' when it comes to expressing their public opinions on our issues. Ahan what nonsense by dis pipul ![]() 7. Buka Tijjani (Former Minister of Foreign Affairs) Just the mention of the Agriculture Minister's name shows where the synergy isn't! 8. Shamsudeen Usman (Former Minister of National Planning) This one - I smell so much politricks in it. It's funny, at the Nigeria Economic Summit that held recently, participants did mention that government should ensure that their policies are sustainable - Usman was present alongside Adesina (Education Minister) and VP Namadi Sambo. Elumelu particularly 'saved' Adesina's job by pleading to government to leave round pegs in round holes for longer periods. Hmmm The caveat is that analysing politics in Nigeria isn't often straightforward - decisions aren't always based on performances but based on ethnicity (5 from the North & 4 from the South), gender (5W/4M), region and all other indices that aren't objective or benefit Nigerians in general. We even employ 'federal character' in dismissals hence someone could lose his/her job for flimsy reasons. Save for today is Wednesday, God bless Nigeria |
Quite interesting, Rufai is in the news due to ASUU but Usman was just recently in the NESG week. |
It's just an e-fad. Though it can be annoying but sometimes it's fun - that's the infectious part. ![]() |
Our agencies do not share data and we have no central database - that's evident here once more. Even the FRSC (as theur commander said) is not aware of this development. smh It's like everyone just wants to be a star with redundant/recycled innovations. |
I don't see anything new here.b Of course, Glo introduced PSB when others told us it wasn't feasible etc but this article looks like a 'boot-licking' one. I don't understand what you mean by 'unlimited' - what have they been giving us that is unlimited SwoooshAnyways, Glo needs to work on their network - dead calls, jammed calls etc and their customer service. So many times that you call a number on Glo and you're probably hearing what your brother up north is saying ![]() |

1] Sean Cunningham The Red Arrows are the aerobatic team of the British Royal Air Force. A group of highly skilled pilots who perform daring aerial maneuvers in their trademark scarlet planes, they have entertained the public at air shows and special events around the world. From 1988 to 2011, there wasn’t a single fatality in the group: a remarkable accolade. Yet in 2011, two pilots died within months of each other. The first was Lt. John Egging who is thought to have lost consciousness due to G-forces before spiraling towards the ground. The second was Sean Cunningham, whose death took place under much stranger circumstances. Cunningham was not yet in the air when his accident occurred. He was readying for takeoff in his Hawk T1 on the runway at RAF Scampton, Lancashire when his ejector seat activated, firing him over 60 meters (200 ft) into the air. https://i2.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/red_arrows_smoke_trails.jpg?resize=632%2C356 In a harsh twist of fate, Cunningham’s parachute failed to open, resulting in him plummeting to his death. An inquest into why the ejector seat was activated and why the parachute didn’t open found no manufacturer fault. |
2] Jane Wicker Jane Wicker was a true wing walker. She was so passionate about her calling that she even planned to get married to her fiance on the wings of a plane. Unfortunately, her plans would never be brought to fruition. On June 22, 2013, at the Vectren Air Show, Ohio, Wicker took to the skies in front of an eager crowd with her pilot Charlie Schwenker. It would be her last performance. Wicker’s trick involved climbing on to the wings and walking, with no safety harness or parachute. However, the plane began moving erratically in the middle of the performance and almost immediately entered a barrel roll toward the earth. https://i1.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Wing.png?resize=632%2C356 Schwenker apparently steered the aircraft away from onlookers. The plane hit the ground at tremendous speed, bursting into flames. Both Wicker and Schwenker were killed immediately. |
3] Pavel Kashin Pavel Kashin was a Russian freerunner famous for his death-defying feats and superb agility. In 2013, he was performing a stunt which would see him backflip on the edge of a 16-story building in St. Petersburg. His last moment was captured by a friend, on top of the roof with him, who snapped a picture mid-flip. Tragically Kashin missed the ledge on the way back down and fell to his death. https://i0.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Tumbling_backflip.jpg?resize=632%2C356 The image of his last backflip was released on to the internet by his family, who hoped it would prevent others from attempting such dangerous stunts in the future. Videos of Kahin’s amazing freerunning ability can be found all over the Internet. |
4] Sailendra Nath Roy Indian daredevil Sailendra Nath Roy was known for his freakishly strong hair, which he used to pull buses, trucks, and even small trains. In 2013, Roy announced he would attempt to cross a river while suspended from a zip wire attached to his ponytail. The stunt, watched by hundreds of onlookers, was designed to outdo his own world record, held since 2011, by traveling 180 meters (590 ft). After covering approximately 90 meters (300 ft), Roy became stuck and began shouting for help. https://i2.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Roy.jpg?resize=632%2C356 Despite the known danger involved in the stunt, it took over 45 minutes for the emergency services to arrive. By the time they managed to get to Roy, he was motionless. Rushed to hospital, it was discovered that Roy had died from a massive heart attack while suspended from the wire. He had promised his worried wife that the performance would be his last. |
5] Todd Green doing aerobatics Wing walking is a sport in which people attempt to climb onto the wings of a biplane. The daredevils are usually attached to the plane using a support structure, which, while not making the experience completely risk-free, does add some element of safety. Others however, prefer to do it without the safety equipment. Todd Green was one of these, even adding a helicopter into the mix. https://i0.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Aerobatics.jpg?resize=632%2C356 At the 2011 Selfridge Air Show in Michigan, Green attempted to climb out of the passenger seat of a biplane and grab on to the bottom of the helicopter, which would whisk him away to safety. During the performance, Todd reached out to the helicopter but failed to grab hold, slipping off the wings of the plane. Spectators initially thought it was part of the act, not realizing that Green had fallen to his death. |
6] Richard Guzman In the early 1970s, tightrope walker Richard Guzman performed with the world-famous Flying Wallendas. However, on the night he would lose his life, he wasn’t even the main attraction. The performance took place in front of a crowd of 6,000 people at the open-air Wheeling Island Stadium in West Virginia. Headliner Karl Wallenda was about to finish his usual tightrope trick, having successfully navigated the treacherous journey. As he got toward the end of the rope, Guzman (who also happens to be Wallenda’s son-in-law) climbed a support and reached out to take Karl’s balancing pole, allowing him to descend steadily. https://i2.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/tightrope.jpg?resize=632%2C356 Twelve years before, Guzman himself had fallen from the high wire and spent nine months in hospital, so he knew how important a safe return was. As Guzman reached out to take the pole, he accidentally steadied himself on a piece of live cable used to hold up metal rigging. The shock sent him flying to the ground, where he landed on a policeman who was attempting to catch him. Despite being tended to almost immediately by an off-duty nurse, he later died from his injuries. |
7] Audrey Mestre Free-diving, where a diver does not use oxygen tanks or scuba gear, might not be what immediately comes to mind when you think of daredevils, but it is an incredibly dangerous sport with the potential to be as disastrous as anything performed in the sky. In 2006, French free-diver Audrey Mestre was determined to break the world record (held by her husband) by diving 171 meters (561 ft) into the depths of the ocean. She was attached to a 200-pound weight mounted on a steel cable to enable her to get to the target depth. https://i2.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Freediving.jpg?resize=632%2C356 Miraculously, Mestre made the dive, but on the way back up she lost consciousness at a depth of almost 90 meters (300 ft). Her team attempted to lift her from the water, but encountered numerous problems with the equipment they were using. Cables appeared to have become damaged in training, while the lift-bag intended to bring her back up was either inadequately inflated or had leaked. In total, Mestre’s dive took nine minutes, during which she had no access to oxygen. Consequently, she could not be revived and died at the scene. A documentary titled No Limits details Mestre’s attempt at the record. |
8] Matt Cranch Scott May’s Daredevil Stunt Show had been touring the UK since 1991, performing dangerous stunts to raise money for local charities. In 2011, the group were performing at the Kent County Showground when stuntman Matt Cranch readied himself for his Human Cannonball act. The performance involved Cranch being placed in a hydraulic propulsion system—a large tube-like contraption mounted on the back of a truck. After signaling that he was ready, Cranch would be fired into the air. https://i1.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/tube.jpg?resize=632%2C397 While in the air, he had to turn around and land on a carefully placed safety net. But the safety net collapsed this time, leaving Cranch plummeting toward the ground. He landed, breaking his neck and suffering life-threatening head injuries. He later died in hospital. Scott May’s show continues to perform around the UK. |
9] Kyle Lee Stocking Canyon rope swinging, in which a person swings from a rope attached to the arch of large canyon, has gained huge popularity on YouTube in the last year. Numerous videos have surfaced showing daredevils attempting to better their online competitors. In March 2013, 22-year-old Kyle Lee Stocking was to attempt his own rope swing at the Corona Arch in Moab, Utah. https://i1.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Canyon-Fall.jpg?resize=632%2C356 Stocking was clipped into a waist harness, surrounded by friends and onlookers. But as he jumped, it was quickly clear that something was wrong. Instead of swinging back and forth through the arch, he slammed straight into the floor of the canyon, dying instantly. The group had carelessly miscalculated how much rope would be needed for a successful swing. The area is famous for what is known as the World’s Biggest Rope Swing, and this the first such incident to happen at the location. |
We are used to seeing these crazy stunts and acts and we are like "wow" Here are top ten fatal accidents in the name of sports called from Listserve 10] Orvar Arnarson And Andrimar Pordarson Orvar Arnarson was an Icelandic skydiving instructor with over 1,000 jumps under his belt. Andrimar Pordarson, while nowhere near as experienced as Arnarson, had jumped eight times himself. In 2013, the pair were part of an annual Icelandic skydiving excursion to Florida. Having already completed two jumps, they intended to make their third jump on the clear morning of March 23. They were seen jumping from the plane separately, but never returned to the ground. Worried friends eventually called the police. It took nine hours of searching before their bodies were found in a wooded area approximately 1.5 kilometers (one mile) from where they were meant to land. https://i1.wp.com/listverse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Skydive.jpg?resize=632%2C356 The circumstances were immediately puzzling. Neither primary parachute had been deployed, and backups (designed to open automatically if the main chute failed) had not fully inflated before they hit the ground. It was not until police looked at the video from Arnarson’s helmet camera that the events took shape. The video showed Pordarson unable to open his primary chute. Arnarson, noticing the less-experienced diver’s distress, heroically made the split-second decision to risk his life trying to save that of another. He made contact with Podarson mid-fall and frantically tried to free the chute. The pair fell to their deaths, never managing to unfurl Pordarson’s parachute. |
braine: What about those like me using MTN and don't want to use any other sim?SIMply port ![]() It doesn't look like Airtel will block this stuff if that's what you meant by "going the way of MTN". They are well aware people use BIS on Android and it bothers them not since at the very least, it's LEGIT not some hacked stuff. If it's battery life, S3 still better than S2 however, Nokia is known for their long battery life but be that as it may, most smartphones if used smartly will last long Maybr I'd suggest you buy this mobile charger if it's of much conern to you. |
Until Yakubu Gowon became president, Saturday was a working day in Nigeria. |
naptu2: In recent times we've always had restriction of movement on election day. This could make it impossible for some people to go to work, church or mosque on that day.Nigerians are relearning civil processes - with the ballot snatching, thuggery et al, it's no surprise there are restrictions. Perhaps we will get there soon. |
Are you using the antenna? Even if you decide to use the radio without earphones, the phone will get channels that are very strong to receive. |
Note 2, don't dull! |
One thing that kills businesses in Nigeria is (sustainable) customer relations. In this era of social media too, business should also constantly monitor their online presence and attend to queries quickly. A thread like this can easily tarnish or build your reputation depending on how fast you attend to it. #A Word |
If he's using Airtel, BIS would mot be a problem on any of these phones - go for Galaxy S3, it'll IMO serve these purposes you need a smartphone for. |
