Aha, there's another reminder. When it comes to distortion of facts, it's the translation to other languages. This is why Muslims take it upon themselves to learn Arabic. Don't want to digress, if you are looking for the verse, at least I can safely assure you of this - www.quran.com

The site has different options for translation anand tafsir on verses. When it comes to comparative religious studies, one doesn't need to defy decency or exhibit crudeness.

Pleaae do, am actually waiting for this. If there's one tool enemies of Islam wish to seek to destroy Islam, it's DISTORTION OF FACTS. Other means have been tried to no avail but these - media propaganda, trying to change the content of the Qur'an, fake hadith etc. In fact, fake hadith is timeless. Those who collected these hadith faced these challenges too - thousands of false narrations, weak chain etc. If you rely absolutely on the internet as guidance (another means where these people create so-called Islamic sites), you'll be massively misguided. Get the right EDUCATION - there's a reason why religious scholars still exist.

However, we must note that permissibility doesn't necessarily equate unwarranted neccessity - often, mankind takes advantage of injuctions in mischievous manners. One has to consider the merits and demerits of actions which is in line with the Shariah for harm is highly discouraged. The Shariah itself is encompassing, thus it is a combination of a rules-based approach + principles-based approach.

This reminds me of ethical issues surrounding genotype and artificial reproductive technologies.

When it comes to mischief - Islam permits a man marrying up to 4 wives. Aside the condition to be fair and just if you're to take this step, some men take it upon themselves as an injuction that must be fulfilled notwithstanding the conditions attached. They take the part that suits them and abandon the other - for example, if any of the events in the report about ths Kano marriage stuff is anything to go by, some were a mockery of the injuctions. For example, if a man could prove that he had less than 4 wives, he could be given one of the eligible women thus making a mockery of marriage institution in Islam.

Similarly, the conditions in divorce itself is often not followed. When one studies the conditions, it's more or less like a reconciliatory process than an abandonment exercise to ensure the individuals are so sure of the act disliked by The Creator.

Ultimately, we do have those who deceive themselves. I have no position on any individual in this case but if we try to take one part and leave the other(s), we're guilty of our conscience for verily, "Allah Is never unjust to mankind, it is mankind that are unjust to themselves".

The more reason why knowledge is an act encouraged by the prophet(pbuh) whilst Allah says, "know me before you worship Me".

Let them focus on their customer service if they're rhis concerned - the time lag between placing call and getting someone to attend to is important. Moreso, the training of their staff to be updated and well grounded on issues should be invested heavily in - the easy resort by such attendants for you to visit their Glo world outlet doesn't make sense. While it may br necessary in some cases, a consumer knows why s/he's calling you over the phone for convenience sake.

Have they or do they monitor their performance via how many times attendants have to say "please if no one is there on the line, I will have to end this call"? Not only has subscriber left the phone on Speaker to do other important things with his or life, I even find out that sometimes, bad network does not allow Customer Service hear the consumer -imagine huh

How can one call CS and be "ehn", "beg your pardon" huh

Airtel will pick your call instantly (sometimes though it can be up to 5 mins) and still call or text you back for a feedback. FOCUS on your CS- let's start from there first if you're concerned about this TENANCY ARRANGEMENT.

I endured watching that 20 minutes feature NTAi granted her in their "news". She ended up preaching to the Bishops quoting bible verses, they too also had to throw a caveat that they'd not gone to 'see anybody' or are on anyone's camp prior to their visit.

Now, she isn't just the mother of those 2 but "mother of 160 million Nigerians". Well her media guys don talk say "this is besides the fact that the entire country is her constituency as mother of the nation"

An evidence where I saw she was really power 'savvy' was when she said some people call her "president", "wife of the president", "first lady" and that how can she be the 'African First Lady' while her home (Rivers) was on 'fire' huh

She prayed for God to touch Amaechi's heart. Hmmm We don enter one chance for dis Naijeriya.

I think I can not but join those who call for GEJ to call his wife to order. She has shown her over-involvement in issues of politics. She needs to be cautioned - Amaechi is a governor for God's sake, not you. Perhaps her penchant for politics is affected by her postion as 1st Lady/Bayelsa civil servant - she can take a cue from Hillary, throw the garb away, join politics and convert overly. She would be an interesting politcian.

Problem there is that when one criticises her action, some betray societal and national interest for parochially myopic selfish interests - these leaders are infallible and perfect no matter what. Her problem is not being interested in her home but she seems not to understand her limits, acknowledge undue interference and conducts her public relations in a compromising manner. Some things are better not said in the public. Silence being golden isn't necessarily stupidity.

As the trend goes, FEJ urged we, 'the children' need to stop insulting their leaders and pray for them. Hmmm, our religious books also have sermons for leaders o. undecided

Some forget this power of a thing is transient in nature and ephemeral. This woman will not only dent the image of the next occupant of this unconstitutional 'first lady'.

Why on earth will Dansa make a TV ad for Ramadan urging one to have 'energy' by drinking Dansa fruit drink to break one's fast?

The ad shows one man sitting down tired, his friend comes to him asking why he hasn't gone for taraweeh prayers (a prayer offered after the last Salat in Ramadan), he complains that he has eaten (i.e. broken his fast) but is still tired. His friend tells him about using Dansa and the weather in the advert shows the sun hasn't set at all. A guesstimate for me is like they shot it around 5pm. Are they creating an impression you can break your fast during daytime just because they want to make a point huh

That ad could've easily been shot indoors to save the misrepresentation.

Some responsible people have been able to separate facts from sentiments on this thread. Attacking an individual because his or her opinion is in contrast to yours is an obvious weakness. Similarly, diverting the attention away from the main issue is another survival tactic.

There's a part I find interesting in the statement:

With a 25 year presence, that's certainly not impossible! They started via imports in '88 and set up a factory 7 years later. Whilst not claiming to know the source of the funds, state governments usually have provisions for MEDICAL DONATIONS in the MoH's budget. However, this is usually directed towards state residents or indigenes.

@Topic, the anomalies we have in Nigeria put a thin line between sentiments in doing the right things and doing wrong to achieve right.

Breaking the fast - I always have a date with DATES. Just love dates which is ironic as I never liked them prior to one Hajj returnee who brought some (chocolaty type) from SA. Since then, it's been sweet especially with the hadith of the Prophet a lá breaking fasts with dates wink

After that, it's fruits or/and pap (with lime on top of it) to serve as the fuel to last till after tarawih. Don't like eating to avoid being filled up as this consequently disturbs me during salat.

Since tahajjud is a duty, I tend to eat less at night cos I'd have to wake up. I think it's Sahur I eat well as I tend to have headaches if I don't eat well.

Outside Ramadan, foods like Eba, Amala etc are odd but during Ramadan, they pop in occasionally. Anyway, I have relations who find it difficult to eat Sahur; garri, tea or cereals is enough for them undecided

Sometimes, conparing ourselves with others instead of first appreciating our favors matter, the meat may be good for a hardworking maid but the fish is more nutritious.
