'A Man Is Never Ugly' - Buchi Emecheta |
You see them again? They're criticizing the owner of the 800k for giving you 2.5% of his money! Damn Our values are going AWOL. . . We need to re-teach the younger ones to abandon this 'quick-money' mentality. The man was under no obligation to reward you financially but imagining him thinking of the rot we are in - the samaritan gesture must have surprised him. Massive reorientation is needed in this country. The head doesn't grow without a body - let us continue the (little) condemnations against improper and corrupt behaviors be it virtual or real life!!! |
dryakson: What surprises me was how two guys from the banking hall curse me and my entire generation for returning a huge amount of money worth 800k. according to them, I should have withdraw the money and Run to outside country, I laughed and go my way.Did you ask them for their Nairaland ID? Those guys must be from NL! |
Ijebulogic: Trust me, you can not build a long term sustainable social media business model by relying on traffic generated from hatred and tribal bias. Such minorities will generate good traffic in the short term but contribute very little to Nairaland in the long run. Sadly what I see is an excellent business model about to be destroyed by tribalism and bigotry. Nairaland Mods - zero tolerance on unwarranted tribal exchanges on Nairaland. Don't become a statistic of "great business ideas that failed" - There are plenty of case studies out there.Well said. Without effective moderation, there'll be turn away. People tend to abuse freedom and anonymity. Most reputable news sites monitor comments not necessarily because of suppressing opinions but to make commenters face the issues and avoid unnecessary digression from the topic. Punch Online was a replica of this before they started using Disqus plug-in. Basically, sensible people will only want to see constructive criticism, analyses and dialogue. |
komek: Yes, u can't out run a Lion, buh standing there and applying those tips, is still not an option at all. Run first .You've just gone round the same circle!!! Additionally, in India and some South Asian countries, wild animals are near human territories so it isn't always about "don't go there". |
Fussbot: u guys shldnt blame dat guy dat said sola sobowale isnt toyin tomato...maybe he didnt watch d superstory.. BUT dia is dfntly a yoruba movie titled 'toyin tomato'which featured toyin agboola as the main character..so d guy isnt wrong aftal, cus he only watched d yoruba movie and nt d superstory..It doesn't matter. I have never seen the yoruba movie sef. Some people have the same aliases but that guy's attitude reeks of arrogance. No one is an epitome of knowledge, if he stated the one he knew without insults, others would have pointed out Super Story to him - we learn everyday!!! |
cacius: I am very sure you don't know the difference between a cub and a matured lioness. It's because of people like I posted the picture of a cub along side that of the lioness.Sometimes, don't honor some posts with 'Quotes' if you know what I mean. Interesting responses here. NatGeoWild is one of my fav stations - someone has told me the best way out is to hold the lion by its throat since that's their 'gun' but how easy is it to do that realistically Some of the OPs point especially that of standing firm makes sense but most times, the fear overwhelms our reasoning - it's survival instincts in whatever way we can think of.I recently saw a documentary of a girl that survived the attack because her friends were drawing her lower body from the lion but the girl's face was battered severely! It took reconstructive surgeries to ameliorate the disfiguring. Similarly, like the OP said, I watched one where the monkey charged back at the lion, the lion scampered for safety but later on, the colleagues came back as they couldn't imagine such disgrace to their kingdom ![]() In summary, animals are simply unpredictable, they can never behave rationally like humans despite exhibiting good behaviors at times. Pray that whatever means you use, you're favored by The Creator ![]() |
DonCrust: Withdraw it ASAP. In accounting, it is said that a person must not be negligent with his fun. If you spend the 800k, there's no court in the world that will hold you for that because the money is in an account you operate and whoever transferred the money there is non of your business.Which accounting principle or convention are you referring to? |
Someone or some people are trying to use the OP as an accessory to money laundering if this wasn't a mistake. The OP wants to fall maga. Like someone said here, to chop the money sweet for belle, to vomit am for EFCC office no go sweet o. There's no need beating about the bush here - what's not yours ain't yours!!! If on a slim chance, you are telling the truth...then it could be as a result of bank error or someone that knows the in-and out of the bank trying to shuffle money fraudulently around and they are using your account as a pass through in order to cover their tracks or confuse whoever will want to trace the money in the future should they be busted.Touche ^^^ With all the stringent financial regulations in Nigeria, it's just a case of looking for a scapegoat here! |
It's either someone is indirectly blaming NAFDAC or spoiling business for sachet water producers. I also call this junk journalism as the headline is enough to mislead people and cause panic - only the first two paragraphs address the headline. Yes, we know that access to potable water is necessary but without adequate research, you don't just come out and say "pure water CAUSES" - that's a conclusion already. We live in a vicious cycle anyway - from a government that doesn't provide easy access to clean water to her populace to a government that doesn't do well enough to ensure standards are adhered to in such sensitive industry. At the end of the day, bore holes are highly discouraged, even the Water Resources minister is campaigning against it but her call is just like telling Nigerians not to use generators because of its harmful effects - the people would do theirs to be comfortable and damn the consequences as there are less/no alternatives. |
There's always a tendency to derail threads and lose the very essence of the original post/topic. Btw, Sunday (Nov 3) is (by default) the last day of the month of Dhul-hijjah and the hijrah year 1434 ![]() |
And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship. It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming. If you asked them, "Who created the heavens and earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" they would surely say, " Allah ." Then how are they deluded? Allah extends provision for whom He wills of His servants and restricts for him. Indeed Allah is, of all things, Knowing. And if you asked them, "Who sends down rain from the sky and gives life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness?" they would surely say " Allah ." Say, "Praise to Allah "; but most of them do not reason. |
Good!!! Jazakhullah khairan! Am quite busy but I was going to open a new thread for this and ask one of the regulars to post about it; am glad someone has. Please, deols let this get to FP so our Muslim ummah here that aren't aware of their obligations when this event occurs can know about this! As we are aware of this: https://www.nairaland.com/1497507/solar-eclipse-occurs-3rd-november Kusoof, or solar eclipse, is the partial or total cutting off of the sun's light when the moon comes between it and the earth. People used to associate this unusual phenomenon with some superstitious reason. It happened that the sun eclipsed on the day the Prophet's son Ibrahim died in Madinah, so some people attributed that to his death. Hence, the Prophet took the opportunity to correct the people's mistaken notion about the solar eclipse. |
emma bowin: Smoke from cigarrette and roast/fried meat or fish contains organic compounds called polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH'S).some of these PAH'S are known carcinogens.PAHs! You must be a chemist ![]() |
This is akin to a company saying, "hey shareholders, we made billions of profit but we can't give you guys dividend, we have cash flow problems". They are using semantics and financial shenanigans to dabaru the heads of average Nigerians! |

Take the contract, remain focused and you can branch out later! However, if staying at home is your hobby, continue writing the tests but employers actually don't see it as work experience. When they ask you "what have you been doing?" Would you rather say you've been writing tests Hope you get the gist We may not always start according to our dream plans hence my advice that you remained focused so that the contract job doesn't redesign your career line to another degree that's unfavourable! |
FOLYKAZE: Suya is the only thing I like about Aboki. This is natural meat and not genetical engineered flesh which cause cancer. Suya all the wayBoli (plantain), roasted corn and pears, suya, cooking with firewood are in the same category. Their methods of preparation isn't safe for the health. Experts have continuously warned against such practices but then again, how practicable are they in the realities of the situations we find ourselves in? Government has not provided her people with greener alternatives to these methods that are commonplace amongst our people The usual suya gets grilled using kerosene to fire the charcoal and the cancer-causing substances emanating from this method is already well documented. “No Western nation allows this to happen because of cancer; there is also a report which says that blacks are more pre-disposed to come down with the disease than non blacks,’ Ibru said.http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php/features/food-a-drink/136667-barbecuing-your-way-to-healthier-tastier-foods |
yelanst: Please I don't mean to sound nasty here. Just figure this out. The aboki man or mallam as they are usually called, after peeing or poopooing will wash his thing with his bear hand and thereafter goes to dish out the suya to the next lucky customer. Heck. Anyway, It might be those particles of things from his thing, which he uses to garnish the suya, that makes the suya delicious as some of you in this forum testified. :At least, the aboki has seized the initiative to wash his hands after peeing or pooing. You wonder why LASG is all of a sudden teaching our people to wash their hands after using the rest room to prevent further outbreak/spread of cholera. The aboki practising this isn't wrong, it's you that's not right! Left for me, the most important thing is washing his hands properly and not just rinsing. Now, isn't is nastier that the non-aboki doesn't even bother washing anything? I bet Dettol doesn't want to make an advert out of this bacteria alert scenario. |
Afam4eva: You should be worried whether or not the meat is washed before it is roasted and not whether or not Suya is hygienic.Whilst that is important, like roasted corn, like Suya, the use of charcoal as a source of heat for Suya is harmful to the health. |
Bros, no be your fault...
Na Sis she be, no be bros. Did you actually click on the link bros ![]() Whilst I understand the joblessness of some bloggers, ROSYL isn't a moniker one would expect to be involved in such nuisance(even though we know the sole purpose of the blog link was to attract traffic )Nice share Op |
koastar: Buhari's hands are not clean, he can't be fully trusted. People like him know how to clean any traces linking them to such corrupt act. If a well known corrupt leader like Abacha could be defended by Buhari that he didn't steal, then Buhari himself didn't steal tooReeks of conjectures. No facts, absolute speculations. |
From "act of God" to "will of God", hmmmm. Karma will surely teach us some lessons from God with all these our narrowness! |
ScanLess: It is a very good idea, you will have the remaining 359 demons that mohamed chased out of the kabba coming live there with youSorry to digress but just some bit of education here. I would ignore the bigotry aspect: That 'black' building is not what you think, it's a black duvet that covers the Kaabah. It's called the Kiswah and it's changed yearly. You can do some research about it and the pictures here will give you a closer view! ![]() https://islamic-arts.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/26a.jpg https://lh5.ggpht.com/-lkdjC2yA1Hc/T5LSxIvSL1I/AAAAAAAAQEI/qs-XXuBXMwg/w460/016.jpg

deols: I was just learning more about this..You were rightly advised. I used to look forward to it as a kid but with time, I saw some things ![]() In the past, the horse riders and group parades stole the show but gradually, the event had more sponsors especially with Adenuga's company (Glo) becoming a major sponsor, Maltina etc and so have different events introduced for the youths, concerts etc Truly, if you don't belong to an "egbe" or your family ain't close to the Awujale, you may not really enjoy the festival as much as others would. With the alcohol, parties, mixing etc that goes on, little can you say it's got anything 'Islamic' - the festival is another case study of where culture meets religion ![]() One thing it does is to bring gbogbo awon omo alare (Ijebus worldwide) together - in fact, some people don't even bother going to the palace, they set up tents in their family compounds for members and freinds to come together. For this, you can deduce Islamic practice of not severing the ties of kinship + promoting communal relations, it's the way it's done that's another issue! A lot of Ijebus are Muslims but the coincidence only comes in play because it's celebrated on the third day of Illeya. This last Eid, I 'loled' when FG only gave two days 'cos, public holiday or not, Ijebus will always celebrate Ojude Oba on the 3rd day ![]() If there's a major thing to learn from Ijebus, it's the promotion of unity within and amongst families. |
Emzybrown: Prayer is going on, an *censored* is taking pictures with IPAD.......It's what you're accusing the iPad owner of that the person who published this picture also did! It's the same way politicians take cameramen to religious functions be it Jumat prayers or Service. |
Hahahah. beef Whilst RIM's BB is going through it's declining stage and management is trying to extend it's exit years, you're here forming association! Bother not yourself with all these business analysis wey them dey do. . . |
Hate - a waste of emotions! |
Junk Journalism. . .from 'jubilation in parts of northern Nigeria' to Kano State. North ko, not ni! Someone needs to sue these guys before they think press freedom is freedom to press on with their bigotry. We are aware of the Lagos/Kano issue but to come up with conjectures, warr-a-mess! MSchewwww Anyway, thank you for providing the site - that's another reason not to visit Africanewscircle. |
Chemsy ray: is ICAN ATS 1,11,111 equavalent to degree or HND?NO |
Take the step. If you know not anyone, do call them up before visiting and explain your aim to them - the key is just to get into the industry first before making other moves. Best of luck ![]() |
I see SM as an e-representation of my persona. Depending on what you do, it could be a time-waster, mode of backbiting, ill-mannerisms and the likes just because of the possibility to be anonymous online. However, when one remembers that all our actions and deeds will be accounted for, internet is no exception. If there's one I rarely use, it's Twitter and it's for good reasons - I don't want to get lost in a market even if it's an information market ![]() Essentially, control is key. |
