^ I tend to agree with Coogar on this, the only down side I used to see about this team was defence and they seem to have taken care of that now. Even if they fail to win the CL, they are still better IMO, too many boring 1-0 wins in 08 season |
dademola: d issue of replacing sir alex, is a very precarious and tricky one. If d club is looking at d aspect of continuity, i doubt if a high profile name wld be on d cards. At d same time, i believe d club wld be looking for some wif impressive credentials, and also a strong personality. If all these factors r to b taken into consideration.. like fergie once hinted, david moyes cld just b d right man for d jobI think david moyes is out of it, according to fergie, whoever is going to replace him must have experience in europe, so that will automatically rule moyes out. Personally I will prefer one of the old players like Ole or even giggs. |
montelik: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Vidic, Buttner, Valencia, Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Welbeck and Chicharito. As much as I love the Ando-Clev partnership I still think something was missing yesterday, they lack that authority in midfield and the defence was exposed despite enjoying most of the possession. I hope they get more playing time together cos there is still a lot to improve about their combo |
nitlad: You are an arboreal troll!Easy guy, make your point like an intellect and not like a thug, if u can't make your point without abuses ,then I'm sorry. If you can't use statistics to back your point ,I wonder how you want to about it. I can't seems to remember any clear cut chance that chelsea created against bayern yet you are comparing that match to this one where I can count 4 clear cut chances created by united from the top of my head. |
nitlad: Game finely poised.Guy! I don't know the match you watched, accepted united was outplayed in the midfield "I don't think that was a surprise, even a lessr team will still have a handful possession against united", but to say united did not attack or pack the bus that means you don't know what they call counter attacking play. Maybe this will help your memory Score Real Madrid 1 – 1 Manchester United (HT 1 – 1)Ronaldo 30Welbeck 20 Bookings van Persie 5Rafael 40Antonio Valencia 88 Possession61% 39% Corners12 -9 Goal attempts 28-13 On target 8- 6 Fouls 14-12 Offside 0-3 Besides carrick play the most passes on the field, and real madrid were limited to trying to shoot from outside the box. |
coogar: i trust fergie - he would put out his strongest possible team tomorrow.....the madrid game is away, we just need to get a draw there and play with caution. 4-6-0, keep rooney/van persie fresh for the second leg....I don't trust fergie to that extent, don't be suprised if you see a weakened team against everton. That man loves team rotation more than any other manager. One thing is sure, there is going to be atleast 4 changes in the team that will play everton and madrid. |
Manchester United "the ultimate football factory" Check out this interesting fact about man utd www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2275551/David-Beckham-Duncan-Edwards-George-Best--Manchester-United-youth-team-graduate-EVERY-SQUAD-1937.html |
Let me quickly add this, during the charity shield 2011 against city, united was down 2-0 at half time, cleverley along side ando were introduced and everything changed. During the league last season, city played united off the park at old trafford and etihad *6-1 and 1-0 respectively* and guess who was missing in both matches, cleverley. This season cleverley was available at the etihad and United beat City convincingly. So what does that tell u about the guy? |
dademola: cleverlyIf at this stage you don't still see the importance of cleverley in the middle, I'll suggest u pay more attention to his game, he may not be able to dribble or make aggresive tackle, but try and check out his one-touch passes and off the ball movement to make himself for passes is one off in the premiership, no wonder united play better with him on the pitch. |
I dont know why people think football is gra gra...People that do the basic, simple, easy stuffs don't get appreciated. Only thing Wilshere has on Clev is his tenacity and his grafting attitude, he is a battler and I'll give him that. That said they are two totally different players and their combo can be said to be a perfect partner due to their roles. In a midfield, you need a grafter and someone that can keep their cool and do the simple things e.g (Keane+Scholes), (Fletcher+Carrick) etc. Clev just needs to be a bit selfish a little so he can add more goals to his game, Wilshere doesn't score too many goals either. Wilshere gets a lot of plaudits because he is noticed more on the pitch getting stuck in and all but it doesn't make Clev any less of a player cos he is barely noticed. I wouldn't go as far as saying he is the best English midfielder though, but if you are looking to play possession, one-two pass and move football, Clev is your man. He keeps it simple. "Football is simple. But the hardest thing is to play football in a simple way" - Johan Cruyff[quote The problem with many people is that when a midfielder can not take on 2 or 3 people and dribble them at the same time or can commit ard tackle, hour will be seen as not good enough, wilshere is good agreed, But that doesn't make cleverley a lesser player. The stat below says it all. www.eplindex.com/25709/tom-cleverley-jack-wilshere-stats-comparison.html |
What have these people turned the body of christ to *SMH* there was nothing wrong/blasphemous about el Rufai's tweet, why are they making it an issue? Jesus christ would be ashamed of these people. You can't fight for God, let God fight for himself. |
montelik: Yawa don gas. Carrick is out with a hip injury, suspected he might be out at least a fortnight.I want to believe it is not serious, they just want him out of england friendlies so as to keep him fresh, he won't play by weekend so that the press will not cry foul ,but expect him after that |
coogar: you people can believe the media rubbish sha - where exactly did this nani exit come out from? nani's contract is not expiring till june 2014(18 months away) and yet the media are all over it like a rash that he's on his way out if he doesn't sign before january. This is not about Nani leaving united now or not, it is about whether Fergie still believe in him. Obviously for whatever reason he is not enjoying the level of believe fergie once had in him again, how many games has he played for united since last january even when fit, he is now more or less a fringe player in the team(which ought not to be so) . This is exactly the same trend with berbatov, while he was being denied any chance of regular football, fergie even triggered the clause which allowed united to extend his contract for one more year after the expiration of his initial contract, the rest is history(we all know where berbatov ended). My point is that even if fergie is telling the press that Nani is still an integral part of the team his action towards him(nani) says otherwise |

coogar: on current form, it's valencia that needs to watch his back.....i am sure it was because of his poor form he got relegated to the bench against spurs. fergie fancies nani - he has said nani ain't going anywhere so valencia should start praying. nani is an ambidextrous, valencia is not!Forget about what fergie said, he does not fancy nani and I won't be surprised if he goes the way of Berbetov(which is already happening), if only fergie can show him the kind support he shows Valencia as it seems fergie has lost confidence in him. I know Nani can be frustrating at times but he is still a very good player, he only needs consistent play time. |
montelik: Ravel Morrison hasn't "rubbed pepper" into anyone's eyes. I know you love the boy, but he was and still remains a problem child.Yeah, can't blame fergie for morrison, they guy is talented but troublesome. At such young age, he has been involved in too many court case. The guy is a trouble waiting to happen, even Sam Allardyce couldn't handle him at westham and had to let him go after some months, the guy is trouble. |
Roland17: @CoogarUnited did not let pogba go,he insisted on leaving due to partly wage demand and mainly lack of playing time, which I think is fergie's fault. If I were in pogba's shoe I would have done same cos when you bring back a retired midfielder to come and play in ur midfield or when u decided to play a rafael in the midfield(against blackburn), any ambitious young midfielder will have to rethink his future with such team. |
chrisley024: Enough of dis slatin @ DDG. Can sum1 name a young player of his age also as gud as he is n in a top club like ManU?! Hw abt Evra dat was useless in dat game n Carrick was d 1 doin his job?I agree with you concerning evra, it seems he has no answer to Lennon pace and it is now becoming an embarrassment for him cos it is happening for the umpteen time. He has become a customer to Lennon, it's time they start benching him whenever we want to play spurs |
coogar: the best way to defend is to attack.....You're probably right but you forgot that they have a stronger midfield(if not the best in the league), and there was no way we could have dominated that midfield, and our defence will struggle with their pace upfront, just like the 1st leg, so our best bet will still be to stifle the middle, and that we did at the expense of our attack. So it was not all bad considering spurs form, we just have to be focused on the next series of matches, which are winnable. |
coogar: fergie's selection and daft substitution cost us the game. the match stats is there for us to see. tottenham had twice as many goal attempts and we had a bench of rooney, hernandez, anderson, etc on the bench. we did nothing in the 2nd half - we just defended like a bottom side when we should be dominating spurs and let them worry about conceding! this is the first time in about 13 years we have failed to win at least one league game against tottenham. fergie takes the blame for me! |

The game wasn't that bad, our aged and slow defence wouldn't have been able to cope with spurs pace upfront if we had gone all out to attack(remember the 1st leg),thus the formation we saw today, basically to contain spurs in the middle, and they did that well. Chicharito would not fit in to that kind of formation. |

ABU GEORGE: ferguson kill d match today, wat is welback and valencia doing on d pitch, u went ahead to remove cleverly, kagawa wen welback is a waste on d field, why did u keep chicharito on d bench, tottenham even deserve d winning today wit d way ferguson played. hope dey. man u 4 everDid you watch the match at all? Welbeck was one of the best united player today, agreed valencia has no business being in that match but I don't think chicharito would have been better, the way the team was set up, chicharito will not fit in. The team was set to contain spurs in the midfield. Overall it was a good game and a point away to spurs is not bad at all considering their form. |
Oahray: Lol... Trust Nigerians. I am pretty sure majority didnt watch the video. I dunno where you guys got the idea of a handshake, or are you guys just commenting on what you read? Try to notice little details when you watch something.Well, many of us are not stuck with nairaland as you, I don't need to watch it cos I have seen different pictures of it on dailymail.co.uk before it even got to nairaland there was a particular picture that showed how ronaldo's hand was left hanging. |
The fif pro 11 is a big scam, how can any one pick marcello, pique and alves as the best in their category for 2012. Where do you leave Ashley Cole, pepe, Lahm, Ivanovic, and so on. 2012 was the worst for pique in barca's jersy, so also Alves. I also disagree with the inclusion of Falcao when u have the likes of Van persie and Ibrahimovic. As for Pirlo, as much as a feel he should have been selected, I don't know who he can replace in that midfield. My own 11 goes thus: Cassillas, Ramos, kompany,Lahm, A. Cole, Alonso, Xavi,Iniesta, Ronaldo, Messi, Van persie. |
BINTI_LAYE101: uhmm it's not only goals dat lead to dat, assists are includedEven with that, it is not enough to call United one man team cos rooney still has more assist than RVP this season despite playing lesser matches. I have read the analysis of that stat and you will sEe that it is rubbish, that is if u actually read it before accepting it. |
Man United would be 17th without Robin van Persie's goals. One man team.
() You and your myopic statistics, the same way United was 17th without him last season. One man team my foot. Someone that score just 14 out of close to 50 goals, you must be a clown |
Roland17: Come on Man, grow up, i have nothing against United winning the game, it was hard fought and they deserve the victory for the resilience and poise, but if u are a true football fan, u should be sad for football watching SAF and later his assistants rant and stalk the lines man over calls its uncalled for, its out of the game.I guess the tinted glasses you put on did not allow you to see pardew's reaction when their off side goal was being debated. GGMU |
StarBoard: For real?Rapheal was sub becos he was on yellow card, and united needed a taller defender to counter reading's set pieces. And I believe rafael can pocket Ronaldo. |
When does kneeling to pray before God become something to be ashamed of (even for a president). God! What is happening to human race |
^ what do you mean by that, was it not the same VP that missed a penalty against s'otton, and how did he give united 3 point against reading, when he only scored one in the first half, he even missed an empty net that day, and who says welbeck or chicharito will not be scoring if united had not bought RVP. The team collectively work for the point |
nosa gold: I hate ferguson, I won't support man utd again til dat useless old man dies....Seriously, I just wish the man could just develop a health problem that will require him to leave football cos that is the only way he can leave united now,we know he is a legend but he is doing more harm than good to the team now |

A facilitator?? In footie, are u really sure u knw wot dt term means?? Basically, a facilitator is smeone dt makes a team tick.and most of d time, a team can only hav one. R u saying cleverley is our facilitator?? I asked u for cleverley's personal attributes as a plyr, u say he is our facilitator. Wot is he facilitating?? Lets assume he's even a facilitator, wot special attributes does he hav dt mks him d facilitator??U really wanna talk about stats?? Der was a season dey sed mikel averaged d most passes in d EPL. Technically, did dt make him d best midfielda in d league?? Last season, didnt dey say de gea made d most saves in d EPL?? Does dt mean he was d best gk in d league last season?? D worst part b say, did u even see d plyrs in list where arteta reigns supreme, dt u made reference to?? D likes of sun-yueng ki, dembele, britton, joe allen and co!!!!!! Guy, u fvckup by introducing stats in dis issue mehn!! D bottom line is dt, we shudnt b carried away wit d fact dt d team is doing well. If a player is not doing too well, AND ONE CAN PIN POINT HIS FLAWS, D BETTER!! At d same time, if anyone notices dt, A PLAYER SIMPLY ISNT GUD ENOF TO PLAY FOR D CLUB, it is wot it is!!
