how can it be lower when rooney's pass completion stats in the final third is the poorest in the division. i just showed you ross barkley's stats around the final third....

this isn't even about the personnel around rooney or what not. it's rooney himself that cannot complete a pass. welbeck isn't 10% as good as rooney as a complete player but welbeck's pass completion stats makes rooney look like a pub team player.

we must first improve our passing stats around the edge of the box to create chances from open play. that's where the problem is & rooney is keeping kagawa away from the first team because he's english, not because he's technically better.

just look at all the passes rooney made into the box against west brom. they were all short passes but all of them were failed passes. is this the epitome of a playmaker? when are rooney's fanboys going to admit the fatso is a fraud?
We all know that rooney is not the best of no 10, but he seems to be the best we can offer now(or that suit moyes pattern) because kagawa has not really impressed this season (you know it too) and I don't think those stats you put up about rooney are fair because we played badly in those matches from defence to attack and whenever we play that bad he is usually the only player that takes the game to the opponent. If you can put up his stat against leverkusen as we play well enough that day or liverpool in capital one. Please be sincere, do you think kagawa lack of play time is due to rooney's presence?

how many of these chances are from set plays?
Chances created from set pieces Should be lower than last season (not sure though), considering how poor our set play has been this season, but that stat shows that our main problem this season has been conversion of those chances. I just believe we'll get it right .

I just hope moyes will have the ball to play kagawa in the hole so we can put all this agitation to rest, kagawa has played in the hole for united and did nothing special to claim that spot as his own. We seem to be confusing what he did at dortmund with what he is doing at united presently, he has played from the left side of the midfield for dortmund and did reasonably well, why can'T he do same for us. Rooney might not be the solution to our no 10 problem but he sure can do a better job than kagawa in that role. Kagawa has to raise his game if he wants to claim that spot.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by n0m0705(m): 7:06am On Oct 02, 2013
I just can'T stop laughing at some people here, so it is now because rooney is playing in the hole that makes us stop scoring from open play, if my memory serves me right, it was welbeck that started behind rvp against swansea and we scored from open play, is welbeck more creative than rooney? The case of kagawa is now becoming the more he is benched the better he becomes in the eyes of many fans. The fact is that the guy has not shown any form to convince that he can play better than rooney in the hole, there are countless no of play maker that play from the wing and are still creative, afterall it is not as if he is stationed on the flank. silver, mata, iniesta, nasri, ozil, cazorla and so on are playmaker that play from both flank and middle and their creativity does not suffer one bit. So it is either kagawa is not good enough or he is yet to adapt to united style of play. He is slow, not strong on the ball and loses possession too much. In short he has not impressed at all

Thank God the thread is now calm.
As for me I will put all the blame on the coach, why?
I did not think the starting line up was that bad, Even though it was not the best and it was not too bad that we went down by 2 goals in the first half, afterall it wasn't the first time, but the main issue was the manager's reactions to the awful first half performance, he seemed to have given up after going down by 3 goals. After cleverley's introduction city sat back and we started controlling the game, I expected any right thinking coach to introduce skillful/creative attackers like nani and kagawa to unlock city's defence unlike valencia and welbeck that could not beat the nearest man. DM bottled it, though I think he will still come good with time but he has to take the fall for this match afterall he was responsible for the selection and sub.
I would not blame fellaini now cos it was just his second match for us but carrick was equally awful
We were all blaming valencia for the first goal (fair enough) but what about smalling that made nasri looked like world class he gave him too much time on the ball even check out leverkusen game the should just stick to central defence.

debosky: That guy at bleachers is on some cheap spliffs.

Why isn't RVP played wide and in midfield to 'develop' him too? Unconsolidated bollocks.

All (ok some grin) of you muppets over-analysing a single pass have issues. Is this the first time ever a player has decided to shoot instead of cross? Why is Rooney's case being painted as some kind of unheard of extreme selfishness? Get a grip.

Players sometimes shoot when a cross would be better. However, criticizing a player who scored TWICE and provided an assist in a 4-1 win simply because of one pass is not only churlish, it's downright idiocy.

I hope I see the same thing when RVP tries to shoot when a pass is a better alternative.
Thank you my brother, I think they are just making unnecessary issue out of that incidence, I have never known Rooney to be a selfish player, in fact I can recount over 5 times RVP had the option of passing but decided to shoot and ended up missing in the course of this season alone.

elampiro:

With that Valencia's performance, I don't see Nani becoming a regular. Valencia might end up having more games than other wingers. He knows how to punish you when you play your defence high. Now he has added a new dimension by crossing the ball behind his markers coupled with his new find sense of coming into the middle.

I am just watching how it is going to be. I pray
they all stay fit and injury free.
I won't bank on that performance, as far as I am concern it was just a fluke, he wil have to put up such performance in 2-3 consecutive matches before I believe he is back. I will still go for Nani and maybe kagawa on the flank.

I think it is uncivil to tell another person that he is lying when you are having an arguement or discussion, we all see things in different ways and the fact that another person sees things differently doesn't make him a liar. *just saying*

Is it just me? The was not that bad as you people are making it to be, it is actually an improvement from the chelsea match. THough not a good performance but united has not been good at anfield, it was also better than our Previous 3 matches at anfield. I won't castigate moyes base on this match, I am still watching him

bxg: Nd wer busy chasing unrealistic targets wen deir cheap alternatives under our noses our scouting team is useless
Even though I agree that we are not going about our transfer business properly this season, this spurs approach of just buying any player available is not also the best, they just going to upset the balance of that team, they are also talking to erikson now. I can bet they will not even be in the top 3 with all their unnecessary buy, the team is already overloaded.

bros, is 14-15 weeks not too much? i tot 8-10 weeks is ok. please can u give reasons for ur statement pls
Yes you are very right but you have to consider that xmas and new year market is very peculiar, that is the period when you need to bring out your best produce. Ordinarily I dispose off my broilers around 9 wks but my customers normally demand extra large broilers(just like breeders) during xmas. So at 14-15 wks I get broilers that are as big as you can think of.

Is it not too early to start broilers targeted for xmas now? Personally I usually start around 14- 15 wks to xmas and they will be as big as you can imagine (just like breeders).you tend to have lower profit margin when you start too early

moyes should go and sign ross barkley - forget fellaini, barkley is the one midfielder we should bring in. he's the complete midfielder - young, talented,
highly-technical.....
My thought exactly, I have fallen in love with ross bakley's potential ever since I saw him played against arsenal last season. Moyes should ddo well to go for him instead of paying over the top for fellaini.

dademola: okay oo. Maybe u've forgotten dt d "fergie time" we usually enjoy in matches where d opponent is in a vantage position, is OVER!! And frm d way i see it, some questionable calls and decisions dt go our way in matches, will also come to an end!! If not for RVP last season, maybe na 5th position we for carry. Everyone has identified d MF as our major weakness, and if we dnt fortify now, i just dnt see us getting away with it like we've been doing over d past few yrs
And this is coming from a suppossed man united fan, SMH,which fergie time are you talking about? I challenge you to mention one of those fergie time we had last season, we all saw chelsea vs liverpool last season when liverpool equalised after the added time has completed, we also saw arsenal vs reading in the carling cup when arsenal scored after the added time has been exhausted.i guesss tou have nothing to say about those matches.
To say Man utd would have finished 5th without RVP says alot about how much you know United.

Screwface: When other A-lister clubs are engaging better and stronger opponents in pre-season friendlies and tornaments, my own very beloved club duels with clubs I can barely pronounce. Oh! How the mighty have been side tracked!
Most times these pre season games are not about competitiveness, it is usually about where the Club will make the most money and just to keep the players fresh for the new season. So worry not.

montelik: If Fabregas is not available, which players should we be looking at. Seeing as it is likely we will be signing only one midfielder, it will have to be someone of obvious quality (i.e Kondogbia, Mendy, Cabaye e.t.c won't be good enough).
If we are going for just one midfielder. Then I'll want it to be fellaini. He can play as a defensive midfielder (our defence was the most exposed among the top teams last season) and he can also burst forward conveniently, so we'll be getting a good value for our money if we go for him
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by n0m0705(m): 11:50am On Jul 16, 2013
All these Bayern fans are very funny, they've won champions league now and they wouldn't allow us to rest. All of a sudden all their players are the best in europe, German players are now the best (SMH at Gundogan/kroos better than Wilshere) Imagine them claiming some trainee midfielders are now better than Arsenal midfielders. On a good day Bayern midfield can not outplay Arsenal's as evident in their previous meetings, in their last meeting at Alianz arena I couldn't point out any +ve thing done by kroos on the field. So you all should come down from your high horses.

SailorXY: Any dime we pay on Baines is a total waste! Heck, wetin we wan use am do sef?? Evra is still there, Buttner & Fabio as understudy, the young lads need opportunity like Rafael & Welbeck. Make Moyes take time with that his Everton raid ooo... He dines with kings now, he shouldn't soil their meal undecided
I honestly don't think that guy is better than Evra, the only thing he probably does better is taking set pieces, he is wack at defending, If Buttner can get game time he'll be better. I think Fabio should contest for the right back with his brother, he is more comfortable there, he is just wasting away trying to play left back, he is naturally a right footer(I think) and I believe he is a better player than Rafael. His form at right back during the 2011 season is a testament to that.

I think valencia actually deserves one more season, he was poor this last season but he has been quite good the previous seasons , plus he can always cover for rafael. I will never forget his combo with Nani last season(I forgot the match).
Anxiously looking forward to the new fixtures tomorrow morning.

JayKayMaybachz: guy forget about all Rooney hype ... lets look forward too see what Moyes has for us next season . . No one said that Rooney was a bad player buh he is asking for too much ... he is not content with what he's got already
This is the future we are talking about, the nearest by the way. Even though I do not like the fact that Rooney is asking for transfer, I can relate to his situation to some extent, he was like our own messi last season and all of a sudden he was relegated to more or less a bit part player. It all started from the very 1st game of the season, the team had a poor game, Rooney was relegated to the bench in the next and so it goes. I think any other player of his status would have reacted the same way if put in such situation. Be it Mess, Ronaldo etc we all saw what happened when mourinho benched Cassillas for one match.

DAMN!!! You guys are very harsh, anyone that has not been watching Rooney's game will think he is that bad a player. I guess most of the bitterness towards him stem from the fact that he asked for a transfer for the 2nd time, well, I also think United should sell him off, but that does not take away his qualities, he has been immense for the team and the team struggles to penetrate the opposition without him on the field. Presently United will struggle if they let him go unless we get player like fabregas or any other ball playing midfielder to replace him. So hate him, but also acknowledge his contributions.
