FamilyRe: Your Mom Of 58 Years Old by N101: 3:24am On Sep 16, 2011
Some of you really don't think much of older women do you?  The way some of you are speaking is totally disrespectful - I bet you'd never talk to your Grandmother or Mother the way you talk anonymously online.

@ OP - If her brain is still active and she's fit and healthy, why not?  I've known people over 58 who went to University and completed their degree, it's not unique.

But because this is Africa she should sit and wait for death or read her Bible/Qur'an like someone cramming for her finals?
FamilyRe: Marriage: Is It Worth It? by N101: 3:16am On Sep 16, 2011
My regret when getting married is that I didn't asked for a Blackberry from the start.   I tried pleading for an iPhone but it was laughed down.

If I was still single this never would have happened   cheesy cheesy

As far as most of us Nigerians are concerned if it becomes necessary to discipline a woman, it will and should be done.
Rephrase: "as far as Nigerians like me are concerned if it becomes necessary to discipline a woman, it will and should be done"

It would be safe to say that you don't speak for all Nigerians, just people like yourself.
FamilyRe: by N101: 3:37am On Sep 15, 2011
This whole thing is crazy. And some people have some even crazier ideas but seem to think they're perfectly acceptable.

Abuse of any kind, whether directed at husband or wife, is unacceptable.  I'm not sure where Johndoe100 gets his info but "love your wife as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it" somehow doesn't constitute "aggressively oriented domestic conflict resolution".  Oh gosh that one made me laugh, I had to share it with my spouse.  I think it would be still called physical abuse, however you try dress it up.  This attitude that it's-African-and-therefore-it's-ok doesn't quite wash either.   No Coogar, I don't think divorce is a cardinal sin - unless you're Roman Catholic.

I have to confess I know of more men who have been physically abused by women than women abused by men. for the women I know who have been abused, it was more of an emotional and depriving nature than a physical beating.  However contrary to what some say, the signs are usually there from the outset.  They just get ignored by the other party.

The man sees the characteristics but says to himself no problem, I can live with that.
The woman sees some traits but because she's google-eyed with love, she will live with it.

Next thing you know within months of marriage, the blows begin.  Up to a point the women and men react the same, kind of "I've made my bed and must lie in it", but it doesn't get better.  They don't want to break up the marriage because of the stigma.  At some point things get to a head and some moment makes them realise they need to separate themselves from this person or they will destroy their lives.  Or they just keep quiet and suffer in silence and stick it out.

Sadly these men not only live with the stigma, but it has messed them up emotionally.  Same with women.

Of course an abusive man isn't as affected by divorce - he can always remarry or find another woman, especially if he doesn't have the responsibility of looking after children.  And the manipulative abusive woman will obviously bad-mouth her ex so she looks good and he looks like the villian, and move on to the next man.

It is not "white" to say spousal abuse in any form is wrong.

You mean you know this 2 months ago?
If I'm correct your original post states:

CanImServ: I have been working in Canada along with some other immigrants since August 2001. We are in touch with some anti fraud agencies in Nigeria as well the some key officers and men in the Nigeria’s immigration service on account of Crystal Services.

We made inquiries at the office of the Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, in Canada. The contact cannot confirm or deny anything about Crystal Services but it said it was summarily committed to cracking down on crooked immigration consultants.
My question is this: Would the Minister/Ministry for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism be able to shed light on whether there was a recruitment drive for staff for the Manitoba hydro?  Or were you unable to ascertain from the folk in Manitoba, or via your sources or the relevant department there (because the Manitoba hydro was the potential location being bandied around) whether they were recruiting?

I had to send my phone off for repair today so yes, I'm going to be hating for some time angry
FamilyRe: Is It Wrong For A Married Man To Give A Lift To A Helpless Girl? by N101: 10:23pm On Sep 12, 2011
Let me see. . .  I know a well meaning guy give a Mama a lift. The Mama then decides to hit on the guy who was being kind and stopped to help her because they live in the same direction.

Guy stops the car and kicks her out.

@ OP - As far as I'm concerned, if your motives are above board, nothing wrong in helping.  If she starts acting up in your car, do not hesitate to stop the car and kick her out. Let her carry on her nasty behaviour elsewhere.  Maybe next time she won't take a lift for granted.

Hello Forum Members,

How come we have not had any contributor telling us of the result when an applicant attempted to retrieve their passports, or does it mean that none of them have asked?
Did you not see these, or don't they count?

jaypee4r: Funny enough ! my Agent younger sister and her family (2 grown kids) are also applicant . Visas are been held by CS and wont be released until the day of departure(ACCORDING TO THE AGENT). If by the end of today we didn't get a text message about the airlifting arrangement, i think we have to forcefully request for a photocopy of the visa for verification.  I will implore all candidate involved to rise UP and request for a photocopy of our Visa
Well, I don't have much to say on here , all i know is Crystal have really disappointed many of us, but they keep giving people high hopes,  i wouldn't have been in this mess if not for the trust i had in my Agent , i went to his house this morning with serious anger , after several calls , he made me to understand that CS is real , but they are having problems with their logistics. To everyone in the house , I Apologize for some previous comment i have made ,  especially to justwise, but the fact remains that, This CS scam is STRANGE, my agent made me to understand that the Visas are READY. ,  if you are one of the Applicant what will you do ?
vesto09: @Jaypeer I can guarantee you that your agent would not able to provide you with photocopy of the visa page. I have a female friend who applied and asked for the photocopy of the visa page and the agent told her it cannot be given to her.  My advice to you is to get a hold of your agent, involve a law enforcement agency preferably EFCC because right at there office there is a policeman named WASIU OYEDEJI, with no identification number and i understand police from PEDRO POLICE STATION are complicit in this scam because they always patrol the location, OKUNNEYE AVENUE, FAMOUS BUS-STOP, PEDRO to harass anybody who may want to create a situation. My point is you can never trust the police to do justice. I told my friend what to do but she is too brainwashed believing in CS. Take my advice brother.
From my findings, anybody could be an agent official or unofficial. All they did was get to CS office, get all the needed info, forms, agreement, etc then inturn place ads on the newspaper for their seminars. Charges minimum of N3000 for the seminar, where then relates the info about CS program. Depending on the agent, they charges as from N70k for medicals and police cert. Whether candidates application and fees for medicals, etc who applied thru them got to CS office, is another issue.
And some people still don't see anything fraudulent in that?  So all these so-called "agents" were getting money applications and agreements on behalf of Crystal Services.  And CS allowed this to be done in their name without supervision?

@ r231, I have to agree with you - if you don't ask the other person doesn't know.  In any case, how do we know if the OP is aware of her man's financial situation or commitments (btw like Shy-One I do spend time admiring y'all pics  grin)

@ Lovedgal, I have been in your situation and you know what? I never asked, I made do.  Like Pendo89 said, my trust was in God, not family nor friends, and I made it through, in spite of deferring entry to Uni until I could get myself financially sorted out.  Didn't regret it because I refused to lose focus.

The choice is yours, but remember, don't link "love" with "help".  Helping a spouse is very different to helping a girlfriend. Very different type of relationships.

I think there are many agents involved in this, is like everybody comes an agent collecting money from friends and relatives hence the large scale of the scam.
That is pretty much what I suspected. I'm curious as to whether Crystal Services appointed any agents acting on their behalf, if at all.
TravelRe: The Crystal Service immigration Scam by N101: 1:49pm On Sep 12, 2011
All of those who have given their passports to Crystal Services should simply be demanding them back.  If this airlift (are they evacuees?) doesn't take place, you have every right to ask for your passport back, visa or no visa.  If you sit there begging them for what is rightfully yours, the joke is on you.

Those of  you who used agents - how do you know these are official CS agents and not someone setting themselves up as one to get your money?

This is not a problem with logistics, this is incompetence of the highest order.  How can logistics dictate a text message is sent for applicants to attend a meeting at the National Theatre, yet the venue wasn't booked and there was no CS representatives to speak to those in attendance?  And how can you then send another text message saying "pass on the info to other applicants" well after the meeting time - should you not have the details of ALL applicants to inform them of what you're doing?

I never understand these "contact me on a mobile phone number for tips, advice" when a lot of that information is available on public forums.  Using that alone indicates to me that the poster doesn't know much about the produce he's trying to sell.  Barbados is not the kind of place where you can get in through covert means, especially if you're a foreigner.

Plus these multiple posts are wasting Seun's server space.  I'm not sure what the objective is.

@ Ogundokun,

If I lived in Nigeria I will be chasing those GTBank officials. I'm not sure what GT stands for. I live too far away from Nigeria. How about charging you with that responsibility. I hope you come clean this time around. This is your chance to prove to me and the house that you are not one of them. Make the most of this opportunity, will you?

Ted
GT  = Guaranty Trust. Not sure how you'd chase them unless you knew someone who worked for the bank.

I somehow doubt GT Bank would be directly involved in this kind of thing.  If it's anything like the booking of the National Theatre, it probably never happened.
PhonesRe: Touch Screen Phones by N101: 3:01am On Sep 12, 2011
I've had two touch screen phones: Samsung Tocco and HTC Desire. I don't mind a keyboard, having had a Nokia with one, but touch screens are ok so long as you're prepared to protect your screen from scratches (a good screen protector helps).

It takes getting used to using an on-screen keyboard, if you've got a good one that you can change with the orientation of the phone, all the better.

It really depends on the type of phone you're looking at. Try the phone if you can get a demonstration and see if you like the feel of it.

iz2much:
Ladies: Wont Like Any Other Colour For Your Wedding Dress?

just thinking should it always be White wedding?
cant ladies choose their favorite color or something?
No you do not have to wear white.

It is not compulsory. What white used to represent (the "virginal" bride"wink is rarely relevant any more.

I went to a wedding where the bride wore a velvet red wedding dress. Someone else I know wore purple.  I've seen people get married in native attire not in white.

Wear whatever your comfortable with.  Choose your favourite colour, so long as your wedding dress isn't tacky or garish but compliments you, both in colour and style.
