TravelRe: Refusal Of Entry Clearance (uk Visa) by N101: 10:54am On Aug 17, 2011
@ poster - was was the balance on your account? I don't think it has so much to do with how much you make per month, rather what the balance on your account is and how long you will be travelling for.

If you get a sponsor for your flight ticket you will have to include a lot of other information (e.g. letter from person confirming they will pay for your flight, bank details). Have you explained where you will be staying and provided proof of this?

If you do re-apply it is important to address every single point they turned you down on before, including providing the relevant documents. Good luck.

Lexusgs430 is correct, there are LOADS of new phones being released all the time, and it would be silly to try to post them here. Are there particular brands you are looking for?

FamilyRe: Do You Approve Of Cohabitation? by N101: 10:39am On Aug 16, 2011
@ harakiri = cohabitation back in the day was nothing like it is today, you can't compare the two.

Cohabitation nowadays is dependent on the person's moral and ethical point of view - some wouldn't do it, others have no problem with it, whether it leads to marriage or not.

In any cohabiting arrangement, women have the most to lose but again, morally and ethically some people see nothing wrong with this arrangement. That's just my opinion.

Phone/Internet MarketRe: Blackberry,iPhone,Samsung,Nokia,htc,Tablets & Phablets @ one2one! by N101: 1:24pm On Aug 15, 2011
The Desire S is a newer phone than the Desire HD. The Desire HD has a bigger screen, marginally bigger internal memory.

The battery life of the Desire S is marginally better than the Desire HD and comes with Gingerbread, plus more room for updating the OS (unless you're planning to root your phone, in which case ignore this).  Personally I would go for the Desire S.

While the screen is AWESOME, its large size makes it uncomfortable to manipulate for long, also its ssoooooo slippery! and then the battery life is really really bad. Switched off all WIFI, bluetooth, live wall papers, email sync, and anything that communicates outside the phone, BUT the battery last just a day with normal use. I know this a problem with most smart phones. Its a major problem no doubt
You need to get case with a good grip bro, you can't eat fried chicken and use your phone grin

The battery life was the first thing I noticed about my HTC Desire. It doesn't last for more than a day, and if it does that's because no one's called me and I've switched everything (wifi, Bluetooth and Mobile Internet) off. It seems to be the problem with all smartphones. Hopefully someone out there is working on resolving it, but expect to pay more for the privilege.

PhonesRe: Best Smartphone Operating System by N101: 4:25pm On Aug 13, 2011
It depends on what you want your phone to do. If you want something simple and uncomplicated, go for a Nokia. If you want something that you can manipulate around a bit, go for an Android phone. If you don't mind having everything channelled to you from one place, go for Apple. And if you've got lots of friends to IM, go for a BlackBerry.

It's really all down to user preference.

TravelRe: Will They Let Me Travel Back To The Uk? by N101: 12:43pm On Aug 13, 2011
akagwu8:
Hey guys,
I'm a Nigerian-born UK citizen having lived in UK all my life minus the first 10 months or so. I arrived in Nigeria on July 13th this year and I'm due to leave on August 16th morning, 6 days away. Upon arriving in Nigeria, I was told that I need an e-passport to leave the country. My passport runs till april 2012, but due to stipulations in place now technically invalid. I did not show immigration my British passport so they may be unaware that I'm dual nationality.
My e-passport will not start processing till thursday so i may not recieve my passport by the monday as i travel tuesday morning.
My question is when trying to travel back to UK,am I likely to be stopped from getting on my flight if my e-passport doesn't come in time even though I hold a valid UK passport?
I'm puzzled. There was information all over the place about the fact that the old passports were being replaced with e-passports and that those with the old passports should have them replaced before travelling. Were you not aware of this?

What have ramadam got to do with travelling? Or is it a taboo to travel during ramadam? This is just the begining of series of postpoment ahead. How on earth is it possible for Crystal Services to secure 2 yrs work visa for 7000 people without regards to their qualifications.
Whether it's 70 or 7000, if the delay is true this is a messed up way of doing business.  Did it only just occur to Crystal Services that their departure date was during Ramadan?

Here is  the link to where this picture originated from.
There are several other interesting pictures depicting
various places in Nigeria taken a long time ago.

If you can take the time to read the whole diary
it is really interesting and gives a view of Nigeria
through a racist colonist
. If you read the sentence
immediately above the first picture you will know why
I call her a racist. Sad I know, but nevertheless
you get a sense to some extent
of what Nigeria was like in those days.

I don't agree with the bolded, even though I find her descriptions of things quite shocking.  Remember this was written before certain comment, attitudes and statement were considered politically correct.  It was obvious that she had never encountered black people before - just as her entourage were viewed with fascination by locals, she viewed them the same.
PoliticsRe: Governor Jang Appoints Son As Special Adviser. by N101: 4:07pm On Aug 11, 2011
John F Kennedy appointed his brother Attorney General who no doubt had to be qualified for the job AND be approved via a committee.

In this case, what exactly does a "Special Adviser on Special Duties" do?  It sounds like a vague position with no particular qualifications necessary.

The APN type should be the default setting (PAP). There are settings here  and here.  You shouldn't need to enter the port or proxy details.  Hope this helps.
FamilyRe: Anger Reactions In Nigerian Men And Women by N101: 12:21pm On Aug 09, 2011
Debosky has pretty much hit the nail on the head.  Women are not "belligerent" as Beowolf stated (though some are), most just like thrashing issues out when they come up and get it over and done with.

Men who choose to be non-communicative in my experience usually think anyone saying anything they don't like is "confrontational" or argumentative.  Silence is not the best or most mature way of dealing with disagreements.  That is the reason why little things escalate into big arguments.

There's a time to speak and a time to be silent.  Not everything has to develop into an argument, pick your moments wisely.

It is the same in Christianity, pre-marital sex is wrong.  Although some people practice a very perverse kind of secular Christianity where anything is allowed.

The answer is NO,
Yes I can and many people do.  I have bought clothes and shoes online because I know my size and how things fit me.  There is a difference between trying on a pair of shoes or clothing to check the fit and walking out of the store without paying.

sexkillz:
MORALLY IT'S WRONG! But due to the high extremes of MORAL DECADENCE in the society, what is BAD is now GOOD! In the DAYS of my parents, these acts were frowned at! Actually a TABOO in most cultures! But these days? If you are not following the crowd, everyone thinks you are weird! And most people are actually pressurized into it! NOT JUDGING anyone, BUT the truth be TOLD!
I'm always curious as to why we think our so-called "modern thinking" is so much better than our parents, especially on issues like this.  Seeing pre-marital pregnancy as a taboo isn't without a reason.

Then the company should be honest and tell people in advance the coverage in their area is poor, rather than getting people to buy a service and not give them proper coverage! Someone I know this same problem with Starcomms, and is now debating whether to take up their service again or not after a few years in the area.

DonJoey: Airtel was upgrading their system and they even sent a notification message to their subscribers, I believe in time airtel wil improve, They are already giving MTN and others tough competition. Anything airtel starts, MTN wil want to immitate,  Airtel has good customer service and cheap call rates, good internet data bundle plans,
Are we talking about the same Airtel that:
[li] chopped my credit even though I had a data bundle, then turned around and told me it was my fault claiming I had a BlackBerry and always left it on (I didn't and don't) but didn't refund me even when they acknowledged it was their fault?[/li]

[li]in my neighbourhood ceases to work so you can't make a phone call or get through to anyone on the same network?[/li]

[li]when you call Customer Service about a faulty top-up card they promise to get back to you but don't?[/li]

[li]for about almost a month had a non-functioning Customer Service line, not to mention an email contact address that doesn't work?[/li]
Those are just a few. We obviously must be using very different Airtels.
