A new week! We broke ground and did the blinding of our foundation last week. This week we are working towards pouring the ground beam and sandfilling of the foundation. Here are picture updates from the construction site:

sinorte:I wish you were in the sustainable design class and you’ll see how we’ve ALL being doing it wrong. From our class today, minimalistic design was re-explained as process of editing your lifestyle. When you have too much in your design, you’re creating more to maintain, replace and secure. The world is moving towards using very little to achieve a lot. We are moving in the opposite direction. ![]() _____ Ill look into something simple and share. |
rotecch77:Yes na! I’m baba lati who have invested over $15,000 on trainings and international certifications and also forging strategic partnership with established global brands. |

uncleteeh:I think the focus of the professional bodies shouldn’t be to play the role of the skipper and the umpire but to regulate the industry and enforce strict compliance with standards. I love the way one of my client engaged them in one of my old projects. They were always around to check the project at every critical stages. No concrete work is done until the stage is certified by the M&E and structural consultants. |
megacontrol:I’m sorry I didn’t feedback. There are bigger distributors here and my contact said I can only get through their distributors According to him, they are no longer accepting new distributor. When I told him I sold 12 truck within a month, he laughed and said most of distributors do over 100 truck. I’m still working on it though until I fully settle down. For now, I’d be using Dangote for my block production. |
Abi no be the thing they’d share with us be this ![]() 2006 Approved Building Codes prepared in the 80s https://epp.lagosstate.gov.ng/regulations/National_Building_Code_of_Nigeria_2006.pdf

I don’t attend naija builders’ week but something far more enriching and advanced locally and internationally Neither do I put on facecaps and “I’m a builder” T-shirt. We’ve compared stuffs and we knew those who can add true value. ________ @rotecch77 You might want to share contents from the Builders week with us. Let’s compare stuffs. I recently went through naijas building code, I cannot but smile.
|
megacontrol:Me I am advanced baba lati who controls scores of certificate holders. You might want to pop in to my studio one day and we show you what we’ve got. |

omanzo02:Don’t mind me baba! Topsy has put me back on track. |
topsy23:This is very valid. I assume we were doing MDUs here ![]() By the way I saw these cool stuffs while checking your thread. That’s excellent job! I believe you’re using power tools to cut those walls. This ain’t baba lati way.
|
EgunMogaji2:There’s a limit to what I can share though especially on private builds but all I can say is that everything is here. @construction information stand ![]() |
What happened to using cable trays instead of buying one useless dignity pipes that does no more than protect wires from being ate by rodents ![]() I am part of the integrators of the Palm mall. We don’t always do all these nonsense pipes. If you see any standard mall where all these useless stuffs are used, please let me know. Happy New Week!
|
KolaShangOne:Go lean. When there’s problem, I always look for opportunities. This is the time for integrators to chop. You’ll eventually discover that going smart in all builds will be far more cheaper in the long run. With smart wiring, you can have a combination of many different types of wires used around the home into a single location, which allows for the integration of many different smart home systems and sensors throughout your home. Because there are not so many practicing professionals in the naija construction industry (we only have certificate holders who run to govt every time there’s a problem), we tend to feel all these manufacturers can keep holding us to ransom when there are thousands of alternatives to explore. Before IP networks, we have X10 technologies in the time past. ____ For almost a decade, I’ve been able to cut off the cost of having switches installed to power my gate and fence lights. Neither do I have special control box for my dc pump. Everything is powered from my automatic gate controller using the cheapest wires. Integration is the next BIG thing. What’s the point of having light switches when there are motion-activated or day/night light? _____ Pic 1 - I had this installed in my build in 2012. I’m looking for something better like in pic 2. Instead of having multiple wall sockets, you can do 1 and have USB over CAT6 installed in all rooms.
|
Chekitaut:My sure chairman. Tnx for the prompt delivery. I got just exactly what I ordered. |
Signage installed
|
**End of Week 1 | What was achieved** 1. Excavation done. 2. Blinding poured. 3. 95% of materials required for stage delivered. 4. Reinforcement prepared. 5. Preparation of formwork advancing. 6. Block moulder installed Looks like we're ready for the next BIG thing. We’re taking a break today. Work resumes on Monday.

Mueeze:No! |
kopell:Thanks baba. |
zuraking: ![]() To the naked eyes, most skyscrapers are built with concrete and not steel. Precast is the future. I’m contemplating a precast coping on my current build. I did one in my 1847 builds. I intend to improve the design this time around. The cost of installing coping on flat roofs can do something more valuable in the house. And guess what, bulk of the money goes into perishable items. ______ Pic 1 & 2 - 1847 precast coping

Greenarrow01:When we were using NextHome dump truck, they told me it can’t deliver sand to my site. I wasn’t surprised though. Lagos is a state filled with educated illiterates. They said what I brought is even bigger than trailer so I have to pay double. I really don’t mind so far I have what’s required to execute my job. |
sonnie10:Yes they are. |
Double Volume Let me quickly drop this. I believe architects in the house can figure the rest.
|
Jasobry:Unfortunately I’m not close to my system. It’s done here and all the accessories are available in mushin. I’ll try get you some samples from my installer. He did the frameless glass partition in my former office in 2014 #1847tinz
|
Chekitaut:It’s well! What the suppliers wanted to sell me is 1/4 of this @ N130k There’s nothing wrong with us in this country. We are our problem. |
Chekitaut:Thanks bro! I learnt the granite has been delivered. I didn’t get to see it but the bill I got from the suppliers association and the omo onile’s already gave me ideas of what to expect. Let’s do one more tomorrow. |
EgunMogaji2:It’s well! I gave my iron bender a gift from Bosch and he was like ![]()
|
akinola98:Not the same estate but I know the estate you’re talking about and their deed restrictions. |

it's not about the design. What you cast together with you building is different from what was attached, it's clear to the eyes the one that will last long.
