Thenext: My good people here, please I need Diesel engine generator in the range of 7.5-10kva. Please who can recommend a good brand for me with price as well. CC Egunmogaji Nx3t Kiekie Etc
I always patronize JMG Generators (FG Wilson Perkins UK Brands). Not sure they have 7.5 - 10KVA but sure of 12.5KVA. That’s around #3.2m
How can you remove end SARS from Facebook newsfeed, WhatsApp groups/statutes, Instagram pages? How do you remove #ENDSARS from daily news
Don’t let clout chasers scare you. SARS is not all filled with mentally deranged people.
If that’s how they maim people, they should have come for lala and seun by now
holaralph: REMOVE ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH END SARS IN YOUR PHONES NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please don't ignore. Read through and warn your children. Just as I left the hospital
Before I got to the intersection.
They pulled before us in a black Toyota Sienna.
Blocking us from moving further.
These men.
In black and blue jeans.
And black tight t-shirts.
Heavily armed.
Sunglasses as usual.
Climbed out of the vehicle.
My driver exhaled heavily.
"These people again."
Eight men.
Two moved toward the Taxify.
Gun raised.
Cocking their rifles as though they had caught some criminals.
I sat calmly.
If you are a young man who frequents Taxify or Uber in Lagos, you'd probably get used to that embarrassment.
I had nothing with me just my phone.
And the medication I had gotten from the hospital.
I was so weak.
Massive headache.
While they approached I asked my driver.
"Who are those guys?"
"Haaa. Bros, na SARS o."
I said.
"I thought they have banned these guys?"
He looked at me.
"For wia. Na today?"
I sighed.
The two approached one on each side of the car. I kept my hands in plain sight and made no sudden moves.
One of the men shouted at my driver.
"You no go wind down? Abi you want us to beg you?"
The Taxify driver quickly hit the window button as he screamed forcing a smile.
"Aaah officer of the law no vex, sir! I throw way salute."
The one who had shouted approached my window.
I was looking away.
He shouted.
"Oga, you no dey greet person abi you no see us?"
I slowly turned my head and looked at him.
"Officer, good afternoon, sir."
"Afternoon. Who are you?"
I was about to answer.
He shouted.
"Oga, come down?!"
One of his folks standing a few steps away shouted.
"Who be dis person wey no dey hear us? Na one of those protesters? Devil go welcome am for hell now if he be one of those protesters."
He cocked his gun and approached my Taxify.
It was a lonely road.
No onlookers.
A few cars passed by the other side of the lane.
I gently got down from the car.
I greeted again.
Both of them.
"Officers, good afternoon, sir."
My driver came out and said.
"Na my passenger! I pick am from that hospital down the road."
The one who had asked me who I am shouted at him.
"Shut up! Did we ask you anything? You dey mad? Your moda!"
Then he turned to me.
"Oga, who are you?"
"My name is Kyrian Chiemelie, sir."
"What do you do? Wetin dey your pocket?"
"I am a writer, sir."
"Journalist?"
"No, sir. Author, scriptwriter, filmmaker, sir."
"Oga, wetin dey your pocket?"
"My phone, sir."
"Bring it out."
I dug out my phone.
"Unlock it."
"Why?"
The other one shouted attracting the rest, pointing his gun at him.
"You are asking us questions? Are you stupid?"
I said.
"No, sir. But none of you has the right to search my phone. I didn't do anything wrong."
One shouted, running toward us.
"Who dey yarn that rubbish? Na one of the protesters? Shoot the modafuvker!"
The other one said.
"We never know na when we search him phone we go know."
The Taxify driver said to me.
"Please, unlock your phone. You know what is going on already."
The one pointing rifle at me shouted.
Eyes widened.
Dark lips.
Unsmiling face.
"Oga, unlock your phone for the last time!"
As I used my fingerprint he snatched my phone from me immediately.
Handed it to the last folk who approached us.
He seemed to be the leader.
He started to go through my phone as he said.
"What did you say you do again?"
"I am a filmmaker, sir."
"Actor?"
I shook my head.
"Basically writing."
He looked at me.
"You look tired."
I said.
"I just dey come back from the hospital. The one down there."
"Wetin dey do you? COVID-19?"
"No, sir. Na stress and little sickness. My doctor has given me some tablets, I will be fine in a couple of days."
As he scrolled through my phone the others watched.
Gun pointed up, down. A few at me.
I remained chilled.
He asked.
"And you are not one of the end SARS protesters."
I remained silent.
One of them moved toward me as though he wanted to hit me his rifle.
I dodged.
"Oga, dey ask you, you dey ignore am."
The man said.
"Leave am. Make I see end SARS pictures on his phone first and he is gone with the gun."
I was still silent.
A few minutes later.
One said to the one with my phone.
"Oga, did you see any pictures of end SARS on his phone?"
"I never see one."
I said.
"Sir, can I go, please? There is nothing on my phone."
He looked at me.
"Are you teaching us our job?"
"Not at all, sir. But there is nothing on my phone. My doctor said I should not stand too long."
Two laughed.
"You dey tell us na. We wey no get doctor make we die. We wey dey use chamist cure our infection and malaria."
I didn't say a word.
One of them approached me and showed me some images on his phone.
Dead bodies.
Fresh corpses of youth, both male and female.
Lying by the bush.
Blood gushing from bullet wounds.
I looked at him, in fear.
He said.
"Shey dem dey shout end SARS we no dey catch anybody again o. But na make we see pictures of end SARS for person phone the person is gone. Dis ones wey you dey see so na some of the protesters o. Shey dey don die like dis? Dey will keep dying."
One shouted at him.
"Why you dey tell am this thing? Why you dey leak our secret? Do you know who he is?"
"Shey he talk say na filmmaker? He won't do anything."
Goosebumps rushed over me.
In actuality of how these guys are killing in reckless abandon.
The one with my phone said.
"I no see anything for him phone. He is free to go."
He handed my phone back to me.
Then said.
I took my phone and said.
"Thank you."
As I headed back to the Taxify, a Lexus Jeep was approaching behind us.
They rushed immediately and flew it to stop.
The Taxify driver got in and we started to drive off.
While I looked behind, watching as they dragged five guys out of the car.
About three wore t-shirts.
Boldly written 'EndSARS'.
The Taxify turned right at the intersection and I couldn't see anymore.
He shouted.
"Ah. These people are in trouble."
But I heard it barely ten seconds later.
It was loud from a distance.
Pooo!
Pooo!!
Pooo!!!
Three gunshots.
These guys are evil, I repeat very evil, kindly delete anything that has to do with ''ENDSARS''in your phone
erico2k2: ahah Bro only the ignorant Diasporant will abuse people back in 9ja. If U remember back b4 this thread when we were still on the old property thread myself and Egunmogaji where talking about machine in our designs how we gonna do this and that in our proposed builds. when time reach and we were in the ground story change. we now appreciate local knowledge more.
I think you talked about building CNC back then? Come and see CNC in almost every building in Mushin right now with almost every one turning into machinists.
Our major problem is leadership. We just need to do away with the old generation and start working with young and innovative minds (18 - 55) should be it if we want to see meaningful development.
The 55 - 100+ should start playing the role of John the Baptist.
______
HFP has been leading the prefab construction sector for over 3 decades in Nigeria but we never deem it fit to document true success. A lot of easterners are big industrialists. I’ve seen lots of indigenous solutions and I cannot but marvel at our ingenuity.
We just have the wrong people at the helms of power. I just think we need to decentralize the center for Nigeria to work again.
______
I’m still looking at entering into the prefab market. Why do we need to cast lintels in these age? Aren’t there better and more cheaper alternatives than the conventional approaches?
TBH, the entire civil service require total reform.
I think most civil servants, officers of the law and paramilitaries do see harassment of innocent citizens as an additional stream of income.
Go to secretariats, hospitals, academic institutions, police stations — they’re all the same!
Look at FRSC, Civil Defense, Nigeria Custom and even agberos in the motor parks, they’re of the same gene. They can never think of better ways to serve the country without harassing the people.
I think we should completely ban roadblocks in. Nigeria including those who mount road blocks near potholes in our streets. Na so SARS start.
Let’s start cleaning up the mess some people made of this country.
How can an agbero (street urchin) mount road block on a major road? It’s because they give returns to the government.
EgunMogaji2: Solar water heater won’t work for me, just too grotesque for now. But since I run solar power the net effect is still an efficient cost savings.
I had tankless instant water heaters in Texas back in 2005. They have their own issues. But I suspect it’s been ironed out in the 15 years since I last dabbled with it.
My Nigeria is about easy no stress living. I just want known proven low tech solutions to certain things. I think a 50 liter tank that’s allowed to fire once a day will suffice. This is in fact a godamn luxury upgrade because I use kettle system now. Oh the horrors
Kettle system needs no milk or sugar.
I mean it doesn’t require electricity.
We recently discussed number of baths required per flat. How about the number of water heater required in a 2 bed apartment?
I wish house agents will shook mouth for this matter.
EgunMogaji2: I wish I could find a propane powered water heater since it’s my experience that they’re more efficient at that duty. No scientific proof just a hunch. But we move, no time.
I went the instant water heater (Ariston Pronto Neo) way jejely.
Traditional water heaters take time to reach preferred temperatures, thus wasting energy.
I’ve not explored the option of a solar water heater though but I’ve heard about DC water heaters.
_______ Some of our people are the reason why diasporas keep abusing us
All these alternative options are out there but they’ll only be here to advertise and not to share knowledge. Instant and Tankless water heaters have been here for over decade and we don’t get to hear much about them.
Greenarrow01: This has been giving us issues for days now.. there is a plan for a commercial building, where atleast 10-15 machines will consume between 500kw-4000kw alongside some yet to be determined units of ACs. The owners are thinking of buying two diesel gens (150kva), instead of using the national grid. National grid can be expensive/irregular and machines will.need to run for atleast 10 hours daily.
Pls advice
Energy consumption awareness is key to reduce your energy costs and improve energy efficiency on your machines and electrical appliances.
The meter is connected directly to you transformer installation reading your exact consumption. It’s not an energy reducing device.
So my advice is to use alternative power supply for energy hungry machines in your property. I always use generator for my washing and pumping machine and also use it to run the Air Condition units only at night. I hardly spend 5k - 6k in 2 months on energy consumption.
_______ I once lived in a commercial building in Lagos and the landlord told me “Bro your electricity bill is 10,000 per month. I always pay 50,000 every month to Eko Distribution blah blah...”
I told him to install a meter in my flat and leave me to handle my energy consumption.
erico2k2: true but the much needed infrastructure is not there.we talking robotics when things as simple as steady electricity is not there not to talk of the internet wifi etc
That’s why they put them in incubation hubs/centers where there’s unlimited access to the bolded above and good funding.
We can’t wait any longer so the focus is more on the Gen-Z right now.
Badgers14: Wheew! My niece and nephews do go out of state for robotics competition.. this kids are 12 -14 years old, their school even traveled to Japan to compete. I was quite mesmerized when I attended one of their events.. I couldn't believe little kids that young could put things like that together...
But in 9ja a final year student or even graduate student could put two pans together with a wheel barrow tire and aye yeah!! They built a car
Our government are nose deep in oil.. politicians empower youths with goats, sewing machine and Keke napep.
O laud have mercy on us!
That Old Nigeria is long gone. There are lots of robotics lab, tech hubs and incubators in Nigeria as of today.
Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) in Ibadan.
CC-Hub and many others.
Osinbajo is pushing/championing that front.
We launched his tech hub about 2 years ago in Ibadan. The government is diversifying the economy already. It’s just that we have a president that do not understand what’s going on.
Abolarin91: Oops! Nigeria in soup if this continue! God forbid more building collapse
It’s better to protest all those illegal payments made to government.
If you don’t know your right in this country, you’d be taken for a ride.
I installed a 300Kva transformer early this year for a hall with 15 units of 3hp AC and 22 units of 2hp split unit AC. When we got the first bill, it was just #11,300 A friend saw this asked me “How did you do it? Who helped you?” My response was “If you don’t know your right, they’ll shove anything down your throat in this country.”
I actually applied for O meter to be installed with the Transformer. That way I get billed for my direct consumption and not the size of my project.
omanzo02: The process of fabricating these shapes are not really complex, with the right tools you can do a great job on site or in your personal workshop.
omanzo02: The welding are mostly factory done with computer assisted and precision, they also personally do the welding on site with a special spacing tools that give precise results. I noticed it commonly used in foundations, decking, load bearing floors, light roads(on heavy load roads they uses bigger sizes) and concrete roof.
I know a company sell this but can’t remember where I met them.
Edit _____ It’s normally used for load-bearing floors and roof slabs (I know HFP use this for their roofs)
Multiple Award-winning artist and songwriter David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has said that he did not join the protest against SARS.
During the meeting with the IGP of Nigeria, Davido was asked why he joined the protestors but he told the IGP that he only went there to calm the people down because they are his fans.
Seems you don’t know Nigerian Police. They’ll push words into Davido’s mouth.
“You already push yourself out as enemy of the state.”
He’s at least brave to step out. He needs a sound lawyer next time he’s visiting the police.
mufutau55: Sorry... part of your post is quoted... The work of regulatory agencies is: "Egunje"
Hajji M.
My point exactly. A lot of these collapsed buildings have approvals. The inspectors have visited them and even conducted integrity tests but they’re the who teaches engineers what to do during the tests.
Lekki Garden was approved. SCOAN got approval.
The most corrupt people in Nigeria are in the Civil Service.
