Okay go and die My problem with some of you here is, you guys don't see sense when someone corrects you. Don't create problems for this guy just because e is your old friend. Knowing how Nigeria works, if he is queried and sacked now that anything that happens in the statehouse that he gives it out to his friends, will you be there for him? If you are truly his friend, you will know what information to give out randomly to the public. Compliments of the season. |

OfeAchi: A lady friend of mine recently got a job offer with a multinational in Maiduguri. It comes with accommodation and take home is around 700k. I advised her to decline the offer because from the news, those areas are hostile and there's a 75.65% chance a bandit would raape her or 80% chance she could be hit by a bomb. She finally declined the offer and thanked me for saving her life. I hope I did the right thing? I am not sure you did her well. You have probably ruined her. There is virtually nowhere that is safe in Nigeria currently except aso rock and state government houses. I learnt Maiduguri town is relatively safe so is not bad if she picked that offer. |

Oksman: They were both dating before he lost contact with her according to the boy's family source. I am not sure you got my point. Even with what you have said, common sense demanded that he wait till after that camp and when the lady is not on official assignment. No matter how much he claimes to love her, he also needed to protect the would-be wife by controlling his actions and not exposing her to public ridicule. |

Barryseal: So it is against the military policy to propose to a soldier? What the actual nonsense are you talking about? You have no legs to grand stand on this matter. Even your general is embarrassed enough by this episode that he went out of his way to see to the soldier's release but here you are defending the entire nonsense, even shamelessly attempting to draw parallels with a university policy. That was my last comment to you like I earlier said. Anything you like, say please. |
NYSC › Re: Army Releases Female Soldier Who Accepted Marriage Proposal From Youth Corps by na2016: 8:39pm On Dec 25, 2021 |
Barryseal: Sorry to say this, but you sound incoherent trying to compare classroom and orientation camp. The two are nowhere the same. School involves examination and grading, so it is understandable to put up policy that levels the playing field for everyone.
The main issue here which people like you are playing the ostrich is the religious undertone of this episode. In the more liberal South, Ebonyi state, precisely in 2019, a Corp member engaged a female soldier, it made headlines here on Nairaland. Nobody was court marshaled, nobody was reprimanded, it was a sweet story for those those involved. Here we are, in a Muslim controlled caliphate state of Kwara, a female soldier kissing a man in public, is Haram, all hell broke loose.
This is yet again, another prime example that we have 2 countries existing in the same place called Nigeria. I will stop replying to you because you don't seem to have any good points. I gave you an example of an organizational policy and all you did was to say the two are not near. What do you mean by that? If I want to take on you using that alone, I can show instances so many lecturers didn't follow that policy. So, you want to tell me if someone (a VC) comes and demands that such policy should be followed, it means his action has a religious undertone or what? Please have an open mind when you read and talk so you don't create problems for yourself in the future. I am sure if that proposal was done outside the official hours of duty of that soldier or after that Camping period, there wouldn't have been an issue for her |

Barryseal: When you say trainee, you make it sound as if the the young man in question was underage or an elementary school pupil. Please let's grow up. Please stop sounding like someone who has not been to school before. Each organization has its policies. Just as in the Universities, it is prohibited for a lecturer to have a relationship with a female student that he teaches (even if the student is 30 years old). The reason is that he will not be fair to other students in the class. I believe the military has a similar policy too. |

NB If you truly want a happy home, don't seek advice on social media, those kids who can't maintain a week relationship will advise you astray. What works for A might not work for B.
Even with your modifications, it's the same thing!!! Is the man living forever in your house? Why come here to rant instead of telling your wife directly that she did something wrong?! You see why I always said good communication with intimacy are good in every home especially with this teens getting married everyday. I know he will still come back to ask if it's good for his wife to be greeting him every morning or late in the night orishirishi Dear Lord have mercy on us all I will leave the OP and address you, and in doing that I will answer the OP. As old as I am, if you were to be my wife and you repeat what OP has said once after I have told you not to do it again, I will send you packing from my house. Even some responsible father-in-law, when they visit will not be bold enough to accept such gesture, talk of a brother-in-law. This is a matter of common sense and no wife should do this!!! |

Yankee101: 1 Corinthians 7 8-9
To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am. But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
Exodus 22 16-17
If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride-price for her and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride-price for virgins. You see how you people keep causing problems for yourselves. The person quoted a specific scripture and I challenged how he used that scripture, you are now adding more scriptures. Are you adding to tell me that the initial wrong quote was correct or what? Learn to take corrections from someone and also read with an open mind. That passage in the context the person used that time, was not correct!!! |

Yankee101: The rule is this, the bed must be undefiled. So both must not try sex before marriage and must marry as virgins
It's easier to tell a man no as a virgin. If you're not, he'll say after you've finished sharing it, you're denying him
So avoid stories, remain a virgin and any reasonable man will marry you without sex Although I don't support the new trend, this is not what that scripture means! The bed must not be defiled was referring to after marriage. Try dey read bible references and commentary too. Don't depend on your pastor's interpretation. He probably got a 3rd class/pass and wouldn't give you the correct meaning |

ayandee: A family friend whose wife is also a nurse moved to the UK. There has been no issues. The man takes care of the kids when she is at work. He is looking for a job but there's no pressure whatsoever from his wife. They've both been having each other's back from way back. It's just a phase. If you have married a good woman, you have nothing to fear. Join her, take care of the kids while you search for job opportunities. It may entail doing some short time courses to fit into the job market. Be determined that you will make it in the UK. Have a very positive mindset. So many things are involved here which as an outsider you may not know. The woman must be extremely good and maybe the man was also good. I have seen women build houses in Nigerian while their husband is suffering in this country. Never depend on a woman, ensure you have your destiny in your hands. |

NaBanga: I'm just going to be honest with you, there is a high chance you will end up divorced if you are the lazy type. What we call work in Nigeria is the reason the country is not working. If you go 3 months without bringing in money while your wife, is working, you are going to regret the day you left Nigeria. Women are not made to take care of men.By the time your wife is working, trying to clean house and take care of the children in between, you will become her enemy. She will then realize you are not needed and that her life is much better with only the kids. Work and bring money for bills at all costs. Talk to your friends about childcare that will help your wife. Also, be thinking of a course that you can take that will make money in the UK. I wish you the very best and pray your marriage makes it. This is another very good comment, OP. |

As the time is getting closer I'm developing some cold feet, but eventually I'm sure I will move. Don't really know if leaving my civil service job and farming business is a good idea, I don't really have an Abroad game plan yet. OP: Abroad is not Nigeria and I am sure you know your wife very well. You will still be the one bringing in money to the home for most things. I hope you strategize well because women even the best of them when she is the one bringing more money over a long time to sustain the home can start behaving somehow. By strategizing I mean, what skills you have so far and what you intend to do when you get there, and plans to up yourself. The government favors women more and when Nigerian women see it, they exploit it to the detriment of their home except for the ones that really loved the husband. I wish you the very best. Please don't cut links with home, e get why. |
