New press reports claim that the Minister of Transportation in Nigeria, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has suggested tougher punishments to be imposed on crimes relating to railway vandalism in Nigeria. Nigeria’s Transport Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has recommended that railway vandals should be punished for “manslaughter”

This shocking proposal was said to have been submitted by Mr Rotimi Amaechi during a recent Ministerial press briefing that was held at the Aso Rock by the Presidential Communications Team. Mr Amaechi stressed that railway vandals have been on a rampage in recent times and thus, the Nigerian government needs to handle their case with tougher measures.

The Minister further explained that railway vandals are becoming a menace as they keep sabotaging rail projects that actually cost the nation huge sums of money to construct. He further stressed that vandalized rail lines can easily cause derailment accidents that can claim the lives of many train passengers. This is the reason why he recommends that railway vandalism should be treated with strict penalties because it is a “deadly” crime.

Covid-19 doesn't mean we stop living, or buying cars

Below are some tips and tricks you need to know when buying a car online during the pandemic.

1. Don’t panic, not much has changed

If you’re scared about buying a car online for the first time, don’t be. Much of the outdated car buying process which includes shopping, researching, applying for loans, etc., all take place online now. So there’s no big difference, just try not to forget the basics.

2. Open your mind, even if you have already made it up

If you have already made up your mind on the car to buy, the make and the model, you might consider changing your mind about your decisions. This is because the pandemic, which resulted in a lockdown and restricted movement, has caused virtually every dealer and automaker to offer deals and spurs to improve sales as the economy falters.

Some of these automakers are offering late payments, while others are pitching financing; some others are doing both or offering other deals altogether. It is advisable that, if you have already looked, you can look and shop again.

https://file.naijauto.com/2021/02/13/1TC7vPG6/buying-a-car-online-during-the-pandemic-3-0fee.jpg
You can be both happy and safe buying a vehicle during Covid-19

3. Read the small print

When you want to purchase a car online especially during this pandemic, you will see lots of deals to choose from. You must take note that, most of these pandemic related promotions come with restrictions, exemptions, and limits.

These promotions apply mostly to qualified buyers as these deferred payments and all other similar programs sometimes require the buyer to demonstrate need.

So for some of these deals, it's as if the automakers are giving them out of pity, which is quite true for some but not all. You must know that they are in the business to make money and sell cars.

4. Get approved

Pandemic or no pandemic, these dealers make their money through the financing department. When you get a loan approved before the process begins, you arm yourself with the option of saying no to a dealer's financing.

You can also consider an auto loan of your choice. This helps you buy a car online cheap.

Make your own money arrangements so dealers don't give you bad terms

5. Investigate

There's how to buy a car online properly. Before your online car purchase, do exactly what you would have done before the lockdown. Check the seller out.

See also expert car reviews on any model you are considering purchasing, the ratings, and their average long-term cost of maintenance.

Spend some time to really look at your options

6. Learn what people are paying

Find out what people in your area pay on average for any vehicle you are considering. This gives you an idea of what to look out for in terms of the prices of the vehicles.

7. Look for a return policy

As discussed earlier, there are a lot of exclusion and restriction policies to watch out for.  Buying a car online, best sites have a great return policy.

Ask the automakers, dealer, or site if they are offering return policies as part of their lockdown promotion gift.

8. Check out cleaning protocols

Many automakers and dealers have established strict cleaning and sanitization etiquettes for their dealerships, vehicles and employees based on CDC standards. While it's not certain whether Nigerian car dealers have followed suit, you should look out for this.

Even though you will be completing the entire contract online, other people will have handled the vehicle. It is important to make sure you work with an online-only or dealership vendor that takes safety seriously.

The cleaner the car, the healthier the choice

9. Research delivery offerings

Many dealers now home deliver to their customers. Some even offered home delivery before the pandemic started. The whole process from A-Z must happen without you leaving the comfort and safety of your home.

10. Ask about at-home test drives

If a dealer does not have this service, work with another dealer. The dealer should bring a sterile car to you for you to test drive on the road for yourself.

Have your car delivered and tested at home, that's the safest choice

Every automobile car dealer in Nigeria is struggling to conquer the market. This struggle has brought confusion among car lovers across the country.

Consider your online listing your car ad

Whenever any car lover wishes to purchase a car, he/she will visit the Internet in search of the right car and car site or dealership to buy from. The description attached to the car will determine whether the customer will proceed to buy from you or not.

To convince your buyer that they are selecting the right choice of car, you must attach well-written details that best describe the car. Attaching a good description of your car will determine if you can gain people's attention fast enough. This is a car listing.

How to post a listing for online car sales

To write this creative and effective listing for your online car sale, you must deploy the following strategies:

1. Listing details about the car

The first step towards attracting more customers to your car dealership is listing every detail about your car in bullet point form. The essence of using the bullet point form is to make the work easily accessible to people.

When people are searching for a particular product to buy, they are always desirous of checking as much content as possible. In some cases, people spend just 5 seconds on each description. Therefore, you are required to put up catchy details of your car before anything else.

Details like air conditioning, type of seat material, year model, and even colour are all the type of info that customers love to see.

Experts in car listings have revealed that including a brief historical detail of the car is also helpful. Therefore, when you decide to describe your car, you should focus more on including unique details to the description. See what your competitors are doing and come up with something more relevant and attractive.

To get your description to be more relevant than what your competitors are putting out, you must include where and when the car was purchased. The description should also contain why you decided to upload the car for sale on your platform.

In the end, you are expected to put up a convincing picture of why people should proceed to purchase the car from your dealership alone.

The more detailed your listing, the better

2. Don't forget visuals

Whether videos or pictures, the more, the merrier. Remember, your first objective is to build trust and transparency around your listing. To do this, the customer needs to be convinced that you are hiding nothing.

Taking photos and videos of the car from different angles. Make sure the light conditions are optimal also.

3. Don’t get too greedy in the pricing
Some potential buyers prefer to first look at the price of the car before reading the details. When you decide to get greedy with the price, your potential buyer may be turned off by the price.

As a car dealer that wishes to set a pace for your business, you should look into what your competitors are doing before concluding on the price tag to give it to your car.

Car lovers in Nigeria and beyond prefer to purchase their cars at the cheapest rates. You must include a realistic car price that will increase your chances of making great sales at the end of the day.

However, you should not focus on pleasing your customers to the extent of bankrupting your business. Ensure that the price tag contains your profit margin and tax.

4. Include the basic information in the killer list

Most auto dealers forget to include the basic information about the car in their listing. However, this is not regarded as a professional way of attracting more clients to your car. Every potential car buyer would love to get basic information about the new car.

Therefore, you must include information about the car to your killer list. The listing must consist of the seating capacity, fuel efficiency, horsepower, type of transmission, mileage, make, model, trim, and year of manufacture.  You could even add how much it costs to maintain car in Nigeria if available.

You must outline this information in a well-presented manner. A potential car buyer will be satisfied with the car, after going through the details.

Including basic information makes your listing professional

5. Creativity is the key

Just like every other aspect of the business, creativity plays a vital role in attracting customers to your website or car listing. Most people are creative, but they lack the zeal to bring their creative mindset to reality.

You must be creative with the way you draft your ads. Deploy a unique strategy that is totally different from what your competitors are doing. While attempting to boost your creative mindset, you must look closely to see what your competitors are doing.

You can derive ideas from their work and convert such ideas to a powerful sales tool for your cars. The internet is packed with auto car dealers looking to conquer the market. You must study the online market to see why ads work. Also, your writing sense should be wide and all-embracing.

If you lack deep knowledge about the car you are writing about, do some research to back up your write-up. Your goal should be on making a sale at the end of the day.

Though listings are brief, try a new way to say the old things

6. Be active in the comment section

If your killer listing is deeply engaging, potential buyers will definitely occupy your comment section in demand for answers to some confusing issues or unclear points. Do not be aggressive to any client; instead, approach them in a friendly manner.

Provide answers to every single inquiry. Ensure that no stone is left unturned. If you don’t have a basic knowledge about the asked questions, endeavour to conduct proper research before providing answers for it.

In the video below, look at some stuff a listing or website should avoid:

Final note

The essence of knowing how to post a listing for online car sales is to drive more traffic to your post or website. However, if after writing the ad, you discover that you not getting the required attention, do not feel sad about it.

Instead, channel your effort towards rewriting the listing in a better manner. Ensure that you adhere strictly to the steps provided for you above. When you are creative with your killer ads, you will surely conquer the market and gain more sales to your car business.

The killer list must not contain any false information. Ensure that you research the content before including it in your details.

Car Talk / Special Features That Car Manufacturers Need To Put In Cars In Nigeria by NaijautoDotCom(m): 7:46am On Mar 29, 2021
Nigeria is a special country when it comes to motoring. This article is going to present 7 special features that car manufacturers need to put in cars to be used in Nigeria. Read on to discover!

Motoring in Nigeria has always been somewhat different from how automobile makers planned the standard to be and this just tells you how special Nigeria is as a country.

The easiest example to look at is how every car in Nigeria goes off-road. In fact, for a car to be considered one of the best cars that can survive in Nigeria it must be able to perfectly withstand off-road activities but this is not what the manufacturers planned.

Off-roading is when you make a car go on roads that are not even and smooth and you'd agree with me that we have too many uneven roads in this part of the world. This is why you must know how to take regular cars off-road in Nigeria.

Today's topic is somewhat fictional. I would be talking about 7 special features that car manufacturers need to put in cars to be used in Nigeria. This is a world where impossible is nothing, so anything you read here today is not out of this world.

Special Features that Cars used in Nigeria should have

1. A car that can talk

A lot of Nigerian car users are too busy with life to pay detailed attention to their car's needs and wants. This is why we have a lot of Honda cars overturning on Nigerian roads. These car owners don't pay attention to the sound coming from various parts of the car.

Have you seen this movie? The animated movie about cars

If cars could talk and shout at their owners then we would have more properly maintained cars in Nigeria.

For instance, the water level in a car is low and it keeps screaming out of the speaker; "give me water or I will overheat" nonstop until the owner actually fills the radiator with water.

This will be super awesome, think about it.

2. A car that recognizes/resists fake parts

A lot of car parts sellers in Nigeria are scammers. They have scammed so much that it feels like the new normal to them.

Yes, car parts have varying quality but car owners have the right to know what quality is being sold to them before they pay.

Recognizing fake parts is very difficult

It would be nice if cars could detect when a fake part is being affixed on the. It would be perfect if the car has a function that allows the car owners to give their car consent to accept the sub-standard part being fixed on them.

3. A car that signals one way

Personally, I have come across too many one carriageways in Lagos that seem like a two carriageway. The moment you make the mistake of entering this road, Police/Lastma/FRSC will just jump out of nowhere to arrest you for committing a one-way offence. One way is one of the easiest traffic offences in Nigeria to commit.

One way offences are very difficult to decipher in Nigeria

It's like they always keep the one-way road signal hidden from road users.

Would it be very nice if cars could have a database of all the one carriageways in Nigeria and just alert the driver whenever he/she is about to make a wrong decision?

Crime / Unruly Man Injures Lady Who Refused To Talk To Him Inside A Taxi by NaijautoDotCom(m): 4:58am On Mar 19, 2021
Yet again, a young lady claims that an unruly man inflicted an injury on her face because she refused to talk to him inside a taxi. See her video here!

Cases of men assaulting young ladies inside a public bus or taxi are now becoming too common in major Nigerian cities over the past few months. One recent incident was narrated by a lady on Twitter who share videos to prove that her female friend was injured on the face by an unruly man inside a taxi. These incidents are just annoying because many of the culprits seem not to have the slightest idea that they are committing assault, which is a crime punishable by Nigerian law.

A Nigerian lady on Twitter shares photos of her female friend that got injured inside a taxi by an unruly man she refused to talk to

According to media Twitter user “@Stellaachonye”, a certain unidentified guy literally assaulted and inflicted an injury on the face of her female friend who refused to talk with him inside a taxi. The above video has sparked serious outrage on Twitter ever since “@Stellaachonye” posted it on her page. Several Nigerians on social media have taken to the comment section of the post to show their disapproval of the assault. What many people find annoying about the incident is the fact that the unruly man allegedly later remarked that the lady he assaulted was “ugly” and no match for his girlfriends.

As of the time of writing this report, several sources claim that both the assaulted lady and the unruly man have shown up at a Police station in Ozuoba, Port Harcourt. We do hope that a proper investigation will be carried out by the police and due justice will be served.

See the shocking moment a massive 40-feet tanker fell off a trailer and landed on several cars parked by the roadside in Lagos. Check out photos here!

Parking your car by the roadside is not really a crime in many public places but it could expose you to unforeseen accidents sometimes. Yes, a typical example played out recently in Lagos when a massive tanker fell off the back of a trailer and landed on several cars that were parked by the roadside. Media reports claim that the tanker literally destroyed all of the vehicles it landed on.

This was the shocking moment a huge tanker fell off the back of a trailer and landed on several cars parked by the roadside in Lagos

According to press reports, the incident occurred on Monday, March 15 at Barracks Bus-stop near the Trade Fair area of Lagos-Badagry expressway. LASEMA reports claimed that the 40-feet tanker (container) fell on a total of 3 vehicles and 1 tricycle (Keke NAPEP) that were parked by the roadside. The vehicles and their respective plate numbers are listed as follows:

Toyota Yaris (Black colour) with registration number LSR 247 GP
Honda CRV (Grey colour) with registration number LND 80 BS
SUZUKI Minibus (Ash colour) with registration number KSF 904 XY
TVS Tricycle (Green colour) with registration number AGL 831 QL

LASEMA says it is still carrying out a further investigation but already confirmed that the incident was mainly caused by the recklessness of the trailer driver. He was said to have driven the trailer recklessly hence, caused the container (tanker) to lose balance and eventually fell on the cars that were parked by the roadside. Luckily, no life was lost to this incident and no human suffered injuries from the incident.

In other news, the Government of Lagos state has reportedly started demolishing distressed buildings across several parts of the state while also clearing out “illegal” areas where people park their cars. Below is a press video which gives more details about this report.

Car Talk / Nigerians React To The Viral Video Of A Man Jacking Off Inside A Public Bus by NaijautoDotCom(m): 4:49am On Mar 17, 2021
Nigerians on social media react after a woman shared the video of a male commercial bus passenger that seems to be jacking off during a trip. See the video!

While many people are often very quick to talk about public transports as being “cheap”, they almost never remember to consider the issues that come with public transport. One of such inconveniences includes “indecent” behaviours of fellow passengers of a public bus or any other commercial transport system. A typical example played out recently after a woman was beating up inside a Nigerian public bus for recording a man who seems to be masturbating beside her on the bus. Quite disgusting, isn’t it?

This is the moment a Nigerian woman recorded a video of a man who appeared to be masturbating inside a public bus

According to media reports, a woman with the Twitter name “Olajumoke The Wig Maker” shared the viral video of the “disgusting” incident. Based on the woman’s narration, she first noticed that the man’s right elbow was resting on her body in the “tight” passenger space at the back of the commercial bus.

Now, this was the moment she allegedly noticed that the man was using that right hand to hold a bag in a position to cover his left hand which he was using to jack off. She claimed that she urged the man to stop what he was doing and instead continue when he gets to his house. Fortunately, she said the man stopped the act even because she caught him “red-handed” and she had been recording it on camera.

Travel / Truck Drivers Block Benin-ore Expressway Following The Death Of Two Drivers by NaijautoDotCom(m): 8:25am On Mar 16, 2021
The busy Benin-Ore expressway was recently blocked from vehicular activities by angry truck drivers after some suspected herdsmen allegedly killed 2 drivers.

The issue of highway kidnappings and killings is fast becoming a “pain in the butt” for almost everyone in the transportation sector in Nigeria. A few days ago, press reports confirmed that the popular Benin-Ore expressway was totally blocked from vehicular traffic by truck drivers in protest of their colleagues that were allegedly killed by herdsmen.

Press reports claim that the Benin-Ore expressway was recently blocked by truck drivers protesting the death of their colleagues

According to media reports, angry truck and tanker drivers blocked the Benin-Ore expressway on Wednesday, March 11 in protest of two drivers that were allegedly killed on Tuesday night by suspected Fulani herdsmen. The dead drivers were said to have been killed in the Ofosu community which sits in between Ondo and Edo state. The reports also claim that the protesting truck drivers alleged that the suspected killers took away an undisclosed “huge” amount of cash from the deceased drivers.

Going by media reports, the protesting drivers allegedly blocked the busy road at an area that is close to a military checkpoint as well as ensures that no motorist was able to “boycott” their blockade. The reports further stated that the protest caused a chaotic atmosphere that “forced” security operatives to literally vacate the checkpoint. And at the peak of the protest, media sources claim that the truck drivers insisted that they wouldn’t remove the blockades until the Edo state governor address them. Similarly, they clamoured for better security on the busy road and wanted the attention of the government.
