Patriotism is not about bringing down those in power so that you can replace them, neither is about destroying the country so you can take over and start rebuilding, its about doing your best for the country irrespective of who is in power. El-Rufai's activities in recent time does not portray patriotism but desperation by a man seeking to return to the corridor of power.
While am not here to defend Some of the President's policies ( God knows am still angry that i have to pay almost double to fill my tank), i am however weary of the implication of belittling the office of the president.
The truth is that the ascension of President Goodluck Jonathan to the presidency have proved that any one of us can become the leader of this great country tomorrow. If we are not mindful, we may have destroyed that office before our turn. President Jonathan may mot be an articulate leader or an orator in an era of 'efizzy', but even our parents are not all as erudite as President Barack Obama. Does that disqualify them from aspiring to the highest position in the land? Let us criticise his policies, let us make useful suggestion, but we must stop ourselves from being tools in the hands of political jobbers like El- Rufai and his cohort who can only function in the corridor of power. Or how do you explain that since they vacated their political office, they have not made any meaningful contribution to our development as a country in their private capacity, but have continued to scheme to return back to power, moving from one political party to the other. Be wise, use your head and shine your eyes. True talk! |

Yes! It was that SDMP guy with the spacesuit! He said he would use a good part of the State budget to develop nuclear power in partnership with Nigeria! |

It was really funny. The SDMP guy with suit (wey dey like spacesuit) who was campaigning for ACN, at a point, I forgot he was a governorship candidate. There was a round, the guy talk talk talk off point sotey e come tire no come get wetin to talk again and e 2 minute never elapse. E just raise e two hands for up say 'thank you'.
Then the NCP guy, the stammerer, was getting more pissed after each round because the allocated time never gave him the chance to drive even one point home. You remember during one round of questions when he was answering question nobody asked him? Before he and the panelists realised he was talking about something else, more than half of his time had elapsed. Before he could complete one sentence, the remaining time come finish. So his mic was switched off. That was the time he got pissed and was talking to himself. During his closing remark, people were laughing, the guy come vex dey rake 'this thing concern all of us, you people will not listen!'
People carry reference points go debate, the CPC candidate carry e lecture note. Whenever a question was asked, before it got to his turn he would quickly turn through the pages of his note to find the topic. When it gets to his turn, he would start dictating the note.
The ANPP, PDP & ACN candidates made good points though, relating to healthcare, not leaving out the rural areas in the course of development, empowering women including those in the rural settings, and transparency in governance.
The final debate should be on the 5th of June, I think. |

I think it's largely going to be between PDP and ACN, though the ANPP had very good points.
One thing he said that cracked me up regarding one of the hospitals was 'if someone comes in from the US or UK and walks straight into the male medical ward, in no time, he too will be admitted' |

It was very interesting. I think more than 2 minutes should be allowed for each candidate to speak, especially considering that guy 'This thing concerns all of us, you people will not listen'. |

All these ones haven't come together to find ways of joining hands to salvage the country from its terrible state of insecurity, instead they are busy scheming for 2015 while people die daily at their backyards.
With the way things are going, it would make more sense if there is no Nigeria by 2015 so every clown will go sit in his fathers house. Rettaaarrdss. |
