The driver and the owner of the car, one Justice Imadegbelo almost ran an officer down and, in the process, the side mirror of the vehicle got broken.

The police in Edo State have detained a human rights activist, Osazee Edigin, over a petition by a high court judge in the state.

Mr. Edigin is the former Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Edo Civil Society Organisations (EDOCSO).

According to the Nigerian Observatory for Human Rights, he was invited by the Officer-in-Charge of the Human Rights Desk on Wednesday evening for a chat. But shortly after honouring the police invitation, he was shown a petition by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on behalf of the judge and asked to name the source of the video in circulation on social media, showing the judge beating a traffic light. He, however, turned down the request.

On November 17, Mr Osaze, on his Facebook page, posted a distress report by the Edo State Traffic Management Agency, saying that a high court judge in the state ran a red light at NAVIS junction on Mission Road, Benin City and was trailed by officers of the traffic management agency who seized the vehicle.

“A Prado jeep (SUV) (black) with the registration number EE998BEN ran the red light at Navis junction, by mission road. The driver and the owner of the car, one Justice Imadegbelo almost ran an officer down and, in the process, the side mirror of the vehicle got broken.

“The judge then mobilised her boys who came immediately with two Hilux vans to assault the EDSTMA officers on ground,” the report said.

In the post, the activist called on the Chief Judge of the state to investigate the incident as nobody is bigger than the law.

“Assaulting officers on duty for doing their job just because you feel you are above the law is barbaric,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, some activists and lawyers who visited Mr Osaze on Wednesday night were denied access to him and it is unclear if the police will arraign him in court on Thursday as required by law.

When NOHR contacted the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, he said he was not aware of the detention of the activist.

Meanwhile, the Edo Civil Society Coalition (EDOCSO) has called for Mr Osaze’s immediate and unconditional release.

Members of the coalition were seen at the King Square in Benin City on Thursday morning, mobilising to embark on a protest over the detention of the activist.

These are just a few of the social implications derived from a state government which refuses to take the well-being of the state and its citizens as priority.

Especially the lawmakers and some of their so-called traditional leaders.

Just audit all names from these regions and screen out the aliens that were used to substitute the rightful candidates.

Apart from Akwa Ibom and Rivers States, the other SS States are among the most under-developed in the Country. Very short-sighted individuals occupying key positions in these places.

The best way to understand d feelings of patients is to put urself in their shoes.

If u have a dying relative whose life is dependent on d doctor whom u expect to perform miracle, how will I feel?
While growing up my mother had accident and was rushed to a hospital. The doctor was doing his thing the way it ought to be done professionally but my uncle (mum kid bro) who has lots of change in his pocket came and was telling d doctor he wasn't serious with his sis treatment...the doctor told him he was doing all he has to do and that d situation is under control.
My uncle landed d doctor a dirty slap and when my father tried to calm my in uncle..he (uncle) almost gave my dad too.
Though most patients and patient'srelatives tend to overreact but as a doctor u have to first understand that d profession is more of a calling rather than mere job and that will help u in understanding people and their temperament.
Just understand that a doctor just like a teacher can never be duly compensated and appreciated.
Whatever u Do is a service to humanity and God.
As for the oga that threatened the MD with resign, well, that's good and bad.
Till I hear from ur MD then I can say more. I have people working under me and I have people I work under. So I think so many things would have made and employee threaten his employer like that.

The North has some of the best infastructure in West Africa. I hope some of you listened to the governor of Kano state reeling out all that has been done in Kano state since Buhari took over? Best road networks. Biggest train tracks and stations, power stations, modernization of markets, new schools and hospitals. They're even laying all sorts of fibers for faster internet connectivities. Inland ports, biggest allocations, name them. .. The North is far ahead of the South in terms of solid infastructure. I don't know where you guys get this impression that the North is behind.
