Good Numbers and SM Handles should be provided in order to alert Task Force of any Filling Station Hoarding fuel or Selling at a Hiked Price. This strange culture of greed eating up our society MUST be expunged. |
The average price range in most States is N180 - N250 , why is it hiked up to N700 in some areas? I bought around mid-day today at 189 at Mega Station |

Vado2:'Prospered from 1200 to 1800' does NOT mean the kingdom started existing in 1200! This 'prosperity' had to do with expansion, commercial activities with increased trading with transatlantic merchants and high activity of slave trading, which abolishment began in the 1800s; the period when the British colonialists arrived. Similar activities also occurred in the Ife and Oyo empires within this period. These empires, just as the Benin empire, existed centuries before this period you mentioned. Finally, these arguments are baseless because historical facts have shown a relationship between the 'Yorubas' and the 'Edos'; artifacts and other forms of documented history reveal this. And I've not come across any Edo person bothering him/herself about such issues/topics which are repeatedly opened on Nairaland in order to cause unnecessary arguments. What Edo needs to focus on today is how to foster development across the State socially, politically and economically in order to be a people to reckon with. |
Btruth:Exactly. I wonder why some folks are taking the banter quite seriously. Asiwaju is always very delighted to work with persons such as Wike. Nigeria will be great, even greater this time. |
Someone mentioned this to me last year. Most produced/processed items in the market are fake. From drinks, tubed products eg toothpastes, etc Although there has been some activity against fake pharmaceuticals. |
This piece of observation was written down by a British colonialist around the 1800s; a period when the abolishment of slave trading had started. A lot of people were named after the places they were camped or migrated to. How many Igbos are named Opobo today? |

They refuse to distribute meters, except you get persons to bribe here and there. At a time I had credit with them (excess payments). All of a sudden, despite steady uninterrupted monthly payments, they started sending outrageous bills running into millions. Meanwhile, the power supply is the worst in the country. I don forget about them. I've been using solar, have virtually uninterrupted power supply. In fact, the diesel and petrol generators have been dormant. Thankfully, the bill for state and private generation/distribution of power was passed late last year. It's a matter of time, entities who really have business with power will emerge. Just get alternative source of power and forget them. |
Kudirat and Saheed were executed in 2019. |
Dunce! Announced by who? Was the REC the designated person to make any announcement? |
JASONjnr:Reasons? |
southsouthking:Allow the clown. He got some knocks on the earlier thread, then sneaked today to reopen the same rubbish |
The 21 year old ill-informed trader was clearly a victim in this case. The criminals used his socioeconomic situation (poverty) as a weapon. Also took advantage of his ignorance by not educating him of the risks, potential complications/consequences of removing a kidney. After being interviewed at the UK hospital and found not to be an appropriate donor, what do you think would have been his fate? There were reports he was already being maltreated before the police was informed. Naijap99us:Nigeria is a country where you find people blaming a victim for being a victim and hailing criminals for being 'sharp'. |
This story no clear. FIVE MEN set out to steal a keke napep? |
Esan should produce the next governor. Individuals with good track record should be considered such as Hon. John Yakubu, Prof. Osunbor to mention a few. |
Patrioticbreed9:Nigerians need to know their history and not live based on any form of misinformation meted to you. Present-day Delta State was part of Western Region, before formation of the Mid-Western Region (out of the Western Region) in 1973. History and facts can never be changed or altered. |
Sane society with a working judiciary. |
That's a society with a working Judiciary. No nonsense! No clownery! |
This is good development. It illustrates the level of acceptance and civility in these parts of the world. Opposite of what's happening back home in Nigeria. |
One of the crucial areas of history which Nigerians should be knowledgeable about would be the slave trade era around the geographical area regarded as present day Nigeria, and the period and events surrounding abolishment of slave trade. This would give some understanding regarding the distribution of certain groups of people around the Western and Southern coastal areas. One may realise that a few people championing ethnic supremacy today may actually have ancestry from the other ethnic group; considering the fact that 'Igbos' and 'Yorubas' made up the largest population of slaves and a few were displaced in slave camps in different regions around the period of abolishment of slave trade, a number of people claiming 'Yoruba' may actually be of 'Igbo' ancestry and vice versa. Don't go killing your own brother in the name of 'ethnic supremacy'. |
The problem is the general attitude of many average Nigerians. On a normal day, a lot of Nigerians behave and conduct themselves worse than the ones in administrative or political positions. From blatant violation of traffic rules, jumping fuel queues and bribing charlatans and attendants, extortive transactions with one another eg recent activities of many POS operators. So, how wouldn't same people be willing tools in the hands of politicians? Even in the South-Eastern parts of the Country, similar activities to what occurred in Lagos took place there. So the same social (and possibly cultural) issues would persist even in the Biafra. Also, in reality, a lot of Igbos do not even subscribe to that idea. Not to talk of dragging other tribes into such. Nigerians need a total re-orientation and inculcation of values not only in the younger generation, but in the older ones who failed woefully and passed lies and dishonorable traits to their younger generations. |
Bhella5:We are one o, my brother. |
wonder233:His party members won the senate and the concluded House of rep in Edo Central. They paid homage to the royal father in Edo Central which was very necessary. Furthermore, these are his brothers and he can visit any one within his State he deems fit, irrespective of party affiliation. Edo is one. |
Buhari signs amended constitution to allow states generate, transmit electricity By Hannah Johnson The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has signed into law the constitutional amendment allowing states in the country to licence, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity. This was made known in a tweet by the presidential media spokesperson, Tolu Ogunlesi, on Friday. He tweeted, “President #MBuhari has signed 16 constitution amendment bills into law. By this signing, State Houses of Assembly & judiciaries now have constitutionally guaranteed financial independence, while railways have moved from Exclusive Legislative List to the concurrent list. “Another landmark change: By virtue of the presidential assent, Nigerian states can now generate, transmit and distribute electricity in areas covered by the national grid. (This) wasn’t allowed pre-amendment. This is genuine, realistic restructuring — through the constitution.” https://punchng.com/buhari-signs-amended-constitution-to-allow-states-generate-transmit-electricity/?amp

This is necessary. It makes no sense threatening people not to exercise basic/fundamental rights; anyone can vote for whoever he/she chooses. No one has the monopoly of violence. So security personnel and persons in authority should call such characters to order. Anyone with a functioning brain should be able to consider: if such is reciprocated in other parts of the Country, how would it fare for your own brothers and sisters? The era of these illiterate thugs climbing the social ladder through violence and intimidation should be over. |
Noticed a number of them, even in the banks exchange at the black market rate - up to N780 per dollar. While official rate is around the range of N450 to N460 per dollar. Makes no sense. Yet to see any benefit of CBN blocking international direct bank/naira card transactions. |
