Without adequate air cover( air to surface) assault, this war will hardly be won.

This war need to be taken to the sky. That's our advantage and the FG is not using it.
It it was some advanced army, trust their attack helicopters and gunships to have done serious damage.
FG is not using the air the way it ought to

PoliticsRe: Why Buhari’s Men, Security Chiefs Oppose Operation Amotekun by nams77: 7:28pm On Jan 19, 2020
Antoeni:
AMOTEKUN: MY TAKE
Apparently we attend school for certificates in the south, not for knowledge.
I am so disappointed in the ongoing Amotekun debate.
There is no basis for it occupying our national discuss. No basis.

We operate a "constitutional democracy".
If you are confused, simply go back to the grundnum - The 1999 Constitution.
There are three tiers of government established and recognised by that book.
Federal, state and local government.
Each saddled with its responsibilities.
The crux of that responsibilities being the welfare of citizens.
No law passed by any of these tiers is illegal as long as it conform with the spirit and letters of the constitution.

The problem with this Amotekun contraption is that no government has a law on it. None.
Secondly the body setting it up is not a government and certainly is not recognised in the constitution
We don't have a regional government in Nigeria.

My chagrin is that there is hardly a family in the south without a college or university graduate.
Yet we failed when it mattered most.
The "highly illiterate northerners" read and understood the constitution.

Though the north are predominantly Muslim with sharia laws entrenched in the constitution, they practice same with the dictate of the constitution.
Every state maintain its borders and limits.
No Kano Hisbah can arrest an accuse in say Zaria or Dutse.
And vise versa.

On the Amotekun, if it was not lead by power mongers like Gani Adams, you expect each state to pass the enabling laws.
Set up their commands and stay within their boundaries.
But, no.
They want to set up an outfit to gift unconstitutional powers to their new Aare onakankanfo.

This can NEVER happen.
It will never work.
Set up your neighborhood watches. Do whatever you want.
But a regional armed force is a complete NO.
We won't go this way again.
Use your learning well for once.
Stop embarrassing us.

— Johnson Andrew

ME: This is a great write up. I agree with you 100%
I usually dont reply people on this issue but you succeeded in turning things on its head.
One, sharia is not embedded in the constitution. Nigeria is a secular state.
There is nothing like regional here, each state is passing their own laws and running their own chapter, so its completely legal.

I am not from SW but i support amotekun wholeheartedly.
It will succeed

There's no need arguing with you. Those aircraft were fitted with those armament like i earlier mentioned. They are no true attack helicopter.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Air Force Acquires Two New Helicopters To Fight Boko Haram (Photos) by nams77: 6:34pm On Jan 19, 2020
F117nighthawk:
Technically, gunships and attack helicopters are not the same, though they can share the attack role. Gunships are modified aircraft to carry weapons, while attack helicopters are designed for only that role.
You are the one confusing yourself on this issue pls
We are not talking about gunships. You classified the A109 as a pure attack helicopter. That's where i beg to differ. Check those pics again.
I under why the NA is doing this. The 109 cost about 6 million dollars while the apache and cobras starts from 11 million. What the NA does is get a civilian multi purpose copter and weaponise it

F117nighthawk:
Get your facts right before passing your information
Agusta 109 is an attack helicopter can can be used for combat, the MI 35 helicopter is an helicopter gunship which is bigger and have more fire power,so don't say the Agusta helicopter doesn't look attacking in anyway
Don't miss inform the public, there are different grades level attack helicopter just like u have in fighter jets
Agusta 109 attack helicopter picture below
It is you who need education. The 109 is not designated as an attack helicopter. What you have there is a modification. You can actually fit armament in on a civilian helicopter.
The true attack airceaft are the apache, the cobras and the Russian Mi4.
Even the Huey helicopter that saw the deployment of about 7,000 units in the Vietnam war are not true attack helicopter but some were modified and fitted with rocket pods.
Below is the 129 which is a true attack helicopter

PoliticsRe: Amotekun: Rights Activist Drags FG, AGF, NASS, Others To Court by nams77: 12:38pm On Jan 19, 2020
PreciousJuice:
1. The Kano State Hisbah Board was created through the Kano State Hisbah Board Law No.4 of 2003 and the Kano State Hisbah Board (Amendment) Law No.6 of 2005 by the Kano State House of Assembly, which were duly assented to by the then Governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.

Now, what Law created AMOTEKUN, by which House of Assembly, and who assented to it?

2. Under Section 7 of the Law No. 4 of 2003, Hisbah Corps were established with the duties and responsibilities set out under subsection (4) of that section, some of which include:

Rendering necessary assistance to the Police and other Security Agencies especially in the areas of prevention, detention and reporting of offences;

Handling non-fire-arms for self defence like batons, and other non-lethal civil defence instruments;

-Assisting in any other situation that will require the involvement of Hisbah be it preventive or detective.

The Law that established Hisbah Corps was categorical in not allowing them to carry fire arms or any lethal weapons for self defence.

What about AMOTEKUN? What does the law establishing it say, if at all one exists?

3. The Government of Olusegun Obasanjo through the Inspector General of Police Mr. Sunday Ehindero in a press briefing on 7th of February, 2006 declared the Hisbah Law and the operations of the bodies created by the Laws as unconstitutional and illegal.

Is AMOTEKUN even backed by any Law?

4. On 8th February, 2006 the same Inspector General of Police Sunday Ehindero ordered his officers and men to effect the arrest of the Chairman and Commander General of the Hisbah Corps, Mallam Yahaya Farouk Chedi and his Deputy Mallam Abubakar Abdulkareem Rabo. They were arrested in Kano and immediately taken to Abuja where they were detained.

Has any Commander of AMOTEKUN been arrested, despite the fact that they are not backed by any known law and are made to carry fire-arms?

Would the atmosphere not have been more volatile by now if such has happened?

5. The same Government of Olusegun Obasanjo through the Minister of Information, Mr Frank Nweke Jr. in another press briefing made serious allegations that the Hisbah had sought foreign assistance from Libya and Iran for training as a terrorist group.
Whrn it is now backed by law, hope you will keep calm.
I am not yoruba, but i support amotekun

My father did an elaborate foundation on our family house. The piece of land was bought with money belonging to my late brother. The building was raised by mum and occasionally by my dad. My mum now claims full ownership of the house. Recently my dad did keep some of his stuffs in a spare uncompleted bathroom of the house. My mum asked him to remove them and when he refused...hmmmmm. My mum and younger brother got up at 4am and removed the things. When my dad tried to protest he was vandalised. I have seen enough to live in house built by a woman. Not even if that woman was half angel, half human...
Hmm. This is serious

This is a powerful time bomb waiting to explode!
With the population explosion in the north, depletion of natural resources, and a teeming jobless youth, this is a recipe for anarchy and disaster.

See as people are being senseless killed on daily basis by well known terrorists while their leaders are negotiating with same killers but turn confrontational whenever other regions resort to self help.So why are all these slave- masters feeling restless since the Amotekun concept was birthed?

And how has Nigeria's unity fared with the many years of irresponsible/ incompetent leadership, BH terrorists, killer fulani herdsmen, religious fanatics, almajiris, abject poverty, stark illiteracy, child marriage that the core northern Nigeria have bequeathed to our nationhood? Abeg let's go our different ways.
That's the solution. I forsee a future where all this will gradually spill to the south. Resources are depleting fast coupled with a population explosion and a teeming army of jobless youth
Soon they will begin cast their glance lustfully at the lush, green south flowing with milk and honey. I fear for this nation

Sir, if you don't have anything meaningful, take the back seat and let breeze reach better people. Internal security is the sole responsibility of the FG but Hisbal is in full operation in the North and you didn't think to mention it in your vomit?

The presidency and its militia have been jittery since Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn was launched. To what end? You didn't say a thing about lowlife hersdmen who have been saying or two about the outfit being illegal and must incorporate their people. The Fulanis are a tiny fraction of the Nigerian population. Their expansionist agenda can only be curbed by regional security.

The aging donkey in Aso Rock along with his wildlings who plot, and pretend they don't know about the activities of hersdmen across the country are now concerned about regional security just because it will threaten their plans.

I sincerely hope Southeastern governors develop the balls to rub the salt in, alongside their clueless colleagues in the South South.
I don't fear for the SE/SS. When push come to shove they will rise to the occasion. Its not about the governors, its about the mindset of the people, when they are pushed against the wall.
I can bet on this
PoliticsRe: Amotekun: ‘To Hell With Their Presidency’ - Afenifere Blasts Miyetti Allah by nams77: 1:04pm On Jan 17, 2020
LandMann:
We all should put emotions, tribalism and ethnic hatred aside and examine this issue of Ametokun based purely on its merits and demerits and in light of existing laws.

The following points should guide us:

1. Internal security is an exclusive task of the FG. FG can give authority to state or local actors to improve security. Example; local vigilantes and some paramilitary organisation like Man o War must acquire police permission before operating... This is an example of FG giving other actors permission to act in improving security.

2. There's no federal law or agreement between federal and state outlining the activities to be covered by Ametokun, given the existence of police, nscdc and other existing internal security outfit... This agreement or law is important to avoid conflict between these organisations when issues of security occur. We're still dealing with superiority contest between FRSC, VIO, NSCDC, YELLOW FEVER, POLICE AND ARMY on our highways...

3. With no national law or agreement coupled with high level of illiteracy and unprofessionalism of most state workers, state governments can quickly start using Ametokun as instrument of oppression and a means of further looting state resources because security spending is often shrouded in secrecy, and even Ametokun members can take to crimes as side hustle when they start feeling dissatisfied with their salary. They have the training and the instrument of force (guns)... Who's going to prevent them from misusing both and how?

The above are just some issues worth considering.

If all the loopholes are properly plugged, then Ametokun can kick off.

We shouldn't cheer on the idea even with the obvious loopholes because it can quickly spread, every region can quickly have their own version of Ametokun and it won't be long before outside actors start smuggling weapons to these different regional Ametokuns and with the existing ethnic hatred, it won't take long before another civil war arises that will tear Nigeria apart and make current Libya and Iraq look like heaven compared to how Nigeria will look like.

We should protect our country, not our states or region or ethnic enclave.
Shut up.
Go and read what Falana and other lawyers are saying on this issue. Policing/security is not the exclusive preserve of FG. It is shared by FG, the 36 states and the police commission.

If you are not OK with that, then approach the law court
