Dear all, I see that activity on this thread has be on the low of late and this is no doubt due to the assault from ad bombs which have driven away many users. This is a sad development. I have thus created a slack group called #NG-Solar-Energy-Group For anyone who does not know slack.

It is a realtime messaging board service (similar to the old yahoo message chat group) It is very easy to use and very interactive. This hope is not to replace this thread but to provide an alternative channel where discussion on renewable energy can take place in a clean environment.

The url for the group is thus https://solarfta.slack.com/?redir=%2Fmessages%2FCEESMRKF1 or solarfta.slack.com
You just need to sign into slack to start using. The slack group will have dedicated rooms for ads, and for specific wind turbine, bio-mas/gas and micro-hydro technology.

Slack is supported on all major platforms Below are where you can download the various slack client available

Android
https://slack.com/downloads/android

OSX (Apple Mac)
https://slack.com/downloads/osx

Linux
https://slack.com/downloads/linux

Windows
https://slack.com/downloads/windows

iOS (iphone/ipad)
https://slack.com/downloads/ios

Once the app is downloaded, using slack is as easy as signing in and joining the group solarfta.slack.com

I hope we can use it to have a place for real time chat and communication. Again it is not meant to replace this thread because unlike a forum chat is more geared to was realtime and live engagement. I hope people can join and we can build a great community there.

Sorry about late reply you should scan your car and post the codes here for help or online with your car model to interpret the codes. Find someone to do it and in the near future buy a bluetooth car scanner for less than N2000 from AliExpress and scan and do the diagnosis yourself

Please I need urgent help. My Honda pilot 2007 misbehaves after being driven for about two to three hours. It will not move fast upon acceleration and will be making some noise. And most times if I switch off the engine it will not start again until I wait for about one hour. Someone suggested it could be fuel pump issues but I am not sure.
Is your check engine light on?

Thank you very much, I have downloaded axpert manual, I not sure all the other maker will have the same software/firmware, So I need someone using it .
I can confirm if you put only solar setting under charger priority it will stop charging from utility even when utility is available and no solar panels connected.
Meanwhile I downloaded several manuals over time and all are same [for pf 0.8] those newer models with pf1 have similar manual except now the included equalization setting although I don't think it's available in Nigeria because gennex and ipowerplus are pf 0.8. The only manual difference for pf 0.8 is for same equalization that is available for only 4kva and 5kva models although the ipower plus 5kva model my parents use dont have the equalization setting. So basically all pf 0.8 axpert use same manual minus the equalization setting that is available to some 4 or 5kva models. The issue of firmware is not discussed in the manual although you can change the firmware of the 5kva models as it is readily available. I am yet to see Firmware for models 3kva and below
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m):
Dam5reey:
Please does it have, charging profile for Lithium batteries, and can you disable charging, and it will still function as UPS..?
Unfortunately no charging profile for lithium although I heard the 5kva models with some custom firmware can charge some lithium batteries unfortunately I have not seen such firmware for 3kva models. I have not seen any option to disable charging although since the manual insists you install a circuit breaker eg 25A for 3kva models you can simply turn off the circuit breaker and it stops charging while still delivering output. Meanwhile the manual states you can configure charge source priority and one of the options is only solar meaning even if there is power from utility it will only charge via solar. I have not tested this as the solar panels I bought has not been installed yet. I will test it and find out whether with that option even without solar panels installed whether it will still charge from available utility
Download the manual it is well detailed and explains almost everything you need

Please urgently put the CC as a top priority your flooded batteries are in mortal danger with the charging algorithm of the Axpert.
It's just missing equalization voltage. Funny enough at its max voltage of 29.2v on some hot days the batteries begin to boil and overflow making me reduce bulk voltage to 28.8v, and interesting is some models of same axpert [but with PF1 instead of PF 0.8] have an equalization function at same max 29.2v with setting for equalization time, timeout & Interval. I will be getting the fangpusun soon to use. I will be testing their bmv 700 ist before purchase though
Also point of note these so called tubular batteries are mostly made in India at least the ones I've seen luminous, su kam, Eastman etc yet their inverters don't have an equalization function. Infact the max voltage of my bro Eastman hybrid inverter is 28.8+-1 and you can only select battery type with tubular battery type having the highest voltage above there is no option for user defined voltage unlike the Axpert where I can change my bulk and float at will. Yet these Indian manufacturers are confident giving warranty for many yrs. But I'm a believer of equalization so my batteries will definitely receive them

I beg who don use Voltron hybrid kindly share ur experience. are they axpert rebrand?
Voltron has axpert inverter aka gennex hybrid mppt inverter aka ipowerplus aka mpp solar etc. Been using the inverter for few months now ie ipowerplus 3kva 2.4kw bought from konga with 1 yr warranty. Pretty good inverter with only downside being lack of equalization charge for fla batteries. Planning to acquire a fangpusun 100/50 for that later from aliexpress.com . I Ve used it to microwave, iron in emergencies and only complaint was loud fan noise which i can live it. Overall pretty good inverter

I somehow missed two posts on the water topic and feel like writing something. Namzy's water source deserves commercial harvesting.

Just noticed your post. You're very right, anion/cation filters/exchangers are wonderful devices.
Ground water invariably contains lots of dissolved minerals and the "sparkling" ones are not exempt. I take it Namzy has both filtration and ion exchange systems installed else, I'm still baffled.

Borehole water gets as high as 63 ppm in tds for "clean" water (hardly any different from a well maintained well). Municipal water is so variable in tds, I can't even quote a figure but it depends a lot on the distance to the water plant (the 12 I quoted earlier was from the taps in some neighbouring buildings of a water works somewhere in Ibadan). The 18 - 38 I quoted are for home and factory boreholes (similar values, if only a bit lower than wells which go as high as 51). Some are brownish/cloudy (presumably the aquifer wasn't reached) so I don't even test. Your borehole water remains extraordinary to the point of me not believing there isn't a microfilter or exchanger inline somewhere.
I'll ask if a filter was installed. For now natural spring water for sale lol

I feel your pain. Same experience here. I've seen price gaps as wide as 5 to 10k on a single solar panel from some marketers (names withheld). Like you said, its not buy force to buy from them. I believe only those that are not truely DIYers will just jump in buy at any price thrown at them.

In all, this advert frenzy is getting totally out of hand. So my small advice to us is to continue to do our own research on what, where, and how much we are willing to pay for our solar. If they like, let them put HA02 for 35k, we know road to Aliexpress.
Lol 5k price gap is fair. I'm seeing price gap of 20-30k especially on inverters. Well all is well
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m): 11:28pm On Nov 01, 2018
Lol Another painful thing is the prices of these items. At least one seller is trying but come on, hw can prices of the same must power from different sellers have that huge difference as if one is supplying the other then I won't even talk about gennex inverters comparing prices here with the price list the company representative sent me I feel sad, huge price difference well its not by force to buy.
Meanwhile I think these sellers should cut the huge list into chunks per page. Maybe one page for inverters then add batteries and solar panels also available. Then nxt page batteries

So my 100amp schumaker load tester arrived.and i got around to testing my 48v 400ah bank.all the batts tested ok.
The voltages were off a bit..but think its within acceptable limits.obverbed the readings werent stable.fluctuated when on grid and on solar. No copper busbar.have 2 units ha02 balancer and 1 unit desulphator hooked up.

The display on the left is the first batch of 200a long batts.while the display on the right is the 2nd batch i added about 3months after.--(the setup is a bit crude grin grin grin, was lazy)
I'm in the market for a battery monitor that shows correct soc that doesn't fluctuate with load. I initially bought 2 of these your monitors for my 2 x 220ah from AliExpress and was not happy when they also fluctuate with load and shows exact same voltage as my axpert inverter making them only useful as a voltmeter to compare the 2 batteries. Victron bmv monitors are ridiculously expensive while the fangpusun clone is around $60 which to me is still expensive. Is there any altenatives? I might go for the fangpusun bmv 700 if I get some coupons from AliExpress during 11.11 sales

You are mixing it up..
- Thermostat does not control the fan..
- Thermostat is a valve which opens or closes depending on engine temperature.. It opens to allow cool coolant pass through the engine.
-Your cooling fan is controlled by a coolant temperature switch(thermistor)/fan switch or by the ECU which gets engine temperature values via coolant temperature sensors.
-On your Honda, Cooling fans are suppose to come on when the engine coolant temperature is above 95degC

So now back to you question..
If your cooling fan is rewired to start running immediately engine starts,It won't cause overheating(assuming no other issue with the Cooling system) instead it will cause overcooling since the coolant temperature will never get to 90degC..
This will make the car consume a little more fuel and ECU will throw a P0184 code - Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature
Hmm actually if the thermostat is measuring engine temp then running your fan directly won't have any effect on it since the thermostat WON'T OPEN unless the temp of the engine require to open it is reached irrespective of the temp of the coolant. The only problem I see here is the thermostat opening and closing often plus reduced life if the fan from running constantly and engine strain from running fan always

Tis ur tds device, is it chinese chinese/, i know y am asking, and i wrote chinese 2x on purpose too
i bought a digital battery analyser from aliexpress, and was very happy, my days of guessing a batss state of charge and health is over, alas the device didnt give stable readings, you could test a battery and it would state bad 4x for the batt, then 5th n 6th time, it would state good!.
so in a nutshell, it was friggin unreliable, useless

collect rainwater straight from the skies and read , test same smaple consecitively for abt 10x, confirm its giving the same reading
I and my bro bought one each and we have been comparing results which turned to be similar except in some case where difference +1 or - 1 as the case may be. Also when we added liquid soap to our tap water reading went as high as 198 so let's pray it's not Chinese Chinese

Actually, 8 parts per million of dissolved salts/solids is a wonderfully good figure and better than what most battery manufacturers recommend. I have run other tests to ascertain that 6 - 8ppm of tds is the factual value for A/C condensate. Distilled water fares better by measuring 2 - 4ppm. Well-processed deionised water measures roughly the same (I suspect the copper tubing is the source of the extra tds for condensate as I've measured from various sources using various glass and plastic receptacles).

The part which baffles me is his tap water rivaling distilled water in purity. The problem with Eva water is the high potassium and bicarbonate content. Not very harmful to batteries though. It's pretty unusual to see tap water lower than 12ppm of tds and 18 - 38 is pretty common in these parts (making it suitable source water for further processing). A visit to Namzy's house to "taste" of his tap water is in order.
Lol allowed the ac run for 1 hr before retesting and got 6. Tap water is from borehole and I'm suprised at the result too. I might start selling them lol

NiyiOmoIyunade:
For topping off batteries you should use distilled water that you buy or make yourself.

You can get the AC condensate water (that drips out the back of the AC compressor) into a clean container and use as a cheap and clean and sure substitute to all the 'TDS tested satchet water' you are fixing to use.

You may not be able to guarantee the consistency of composition of your satchet water from batch to batch and even if, I would still rather use AC condensate water as a worst case - you can test clean AC condensate water with your TDS meter and report back to the house on what you find.

You really do not want to put the wrong fluid into your batteries as the stress, pain and cost of restitution will negate all gains.
Tested the ac water and tds level was 8. Will source for distilled water elsewhere

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Namzy(m):
Just discovered this wonderful device called tds meter that I bought from AliExpress it measures TOTAL DISSOLVED SOLIDS in water. This is for those using fla batteries that needs to be topped up. Distilled water in ideal solutions has tds level of 0. However I learnt from a forum that anything from 5 and below is ideal. I have tested different water sources in my house, my tap water is tds level 8, Eva water is tds 36 but my event sachet water and delina glory water measured 4 and 3 or 2 respectively. I will use them for topping up. Meanwhile you can also use it to check whether the so called distilled water is really distilled you know our people. Pics from another forum and from my check of event and delina glory pure water. Some even use it to check for purity if drinking water but that's an area of controversy.
