agitator:Funny! They are trying to hard to imitate oyibo, just like some Nigerian musicians. What happened to originality? As for lovepotion which is common in Nollywood, the same Nollywood which showcases juju and black magic has been blamed for fueling the rise in ritual killing in Uganda. I saw that on ABC 20/20 |
Interfaith marriage is a no no for me. |
Sometimes it works, dunno how they do that and how they raise their children. Abdou Diouf, the former president of Senegal is a muslim, his wife is Catholic. |
oloriede:You dont have to broadcast your good intentions for them. |

Nimshi:The resurrection of Jesus Christ is special, because unlike the other ones that took place in the Holy Bible, He never did die again. Rather, He resurrected to Heaven. Lazarus, the son of the widow and the rest who were resurrected eventually died. |
Jesus Christ is the only Way to Heaven. He says in John 14:6 (New International Version) "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14%3A6&version=NIV And proofs? He died and Rose again bodily from the grave. |
well, if she cant cook, she gotta learn how to cook. |
Take them to a Church for deliverance. |
Maximum is 600 words? How can that be? |
In high school, some students who got into trouble with the school authorities would be instructed to bring in their parents. In some cases, these students would hire strangers (like cyclists) to pose as their fathers in nice outfits and some money to 'seal the deal' While the principal would reproach the students in front of their fake fathers, the men would lament that their son has brought disgrace to them. No teacher knew about it, but some of the students knew that it was all fake. Eventually, one of the teachers found out about it, so when an announcement was made that some students had to bring in their father, one of the teachers said, 'Bring your REAL father, not your FAKE father" |

Some 'independent' women who insist on retaining their maiden name during the course of their marriage are the same who would insist on claiming back their former husband's name in the event of an unfortunate divorce, so that their last name would correspond with that of their children born during the union. |
Good question. We wanna show off to our family and friends that we have been 'abroad', hence the allure in traveling to the western nation. |
oyinda.:I'd like to think that we were referring to women in the Nigerian context, not those from places where it is readily accepted for a woman to still bear her maiden name. |
Tope4all:Adultery is a taboo worldwide not just in Africa. |
oyinda.:My statements that any lady who still keeps her maiden name as her last name after marriage is 'sorely lacking respect to her husband' and that I wouldnt be bothered by it is mutually inclusive. It means that while I am not in the position to tell the woman to revert to her new name (wetin concern me), it's still sorely disrespectful to her husband. |
Native names from my culture. Point of correction, Linda means pretty. |
oyinda.:I know or have read that the Ashanti's of Ghana are strictly matrilineal. And wetin consin me if a woman decides to retain her maiden name after marriage? |
tpia.:And what part of Africa is that? |
Forgive as the Lord says. Meanwhile read this topic I posted a while back. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-13738.0.html |

dan_dollar:I wonder, like someone just commented on guests coming to your wedding to eat your food and leaving behind crappy gifts. I mean, you invited them, while it's the norm to come with a gift to a wedding ceremony, sincerely, I dont think it would bother me if none of my guests show up with no gift. |
Goodness Gracious, this man was still in the petroleoum biz? I remember him as far back as the 90's. |
Personally, homelessness is a cause that is dear to my heart and when I moved to the USA newly, I was shocked by the high rate of homeless people in the country. I sometimes wonder why this country would spend billions of dollars in aid while neglecting their own citizens. I wont judge them, but there are some who I think have made a career out of it. In San Francisco, there are some corners that are staked out by some homeless people, where, even new comers cant even approach the angles without being attacked. I dont know, could it be the bad economy or mental illness? One could fall on hardtimes which could drain out your own savings. But I have to tell you a particular case that struck me. In downtown, there is this panhandler who's been begging for money. I have been touched by his plight so you can imagine my suprise when I walked into my bank this very year and I saw this homeless man. Upon inquiry, the teller told me that he probably came to deposit some money into his account. I relayed my findings to him and he told me that some homeless people do have accounts and a former co-worker of mine had told me of finding a homeless fellow/fellows dining on christmas cookies at a hotel in San Francisco. Best bet, either buy them a meal or donate to an agency that supports them. |
thanks for the information. |
Your best bet would be to consult your child's pediatrician on what should be the next stage of feeding instead of asking Nairaland members. Geezzzzzzzzzzz |
I had no clue that the link on facebook is directed or has Islamic undertones, otherwise, I would not have relied on it. Some Christian scholars have stated that prior to the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross, no man could be admitted into Heaven because the atonement for our sins had not yet been paid. Rather, the saints were, upon their death, moved to a section of Hades called Abraham's bosom. Jesus Christ said in John 3:13, "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven." This, in my own interpretation means that no man had ever ascended to Heaven, except Jesus Christ. Another verse in the Holy Bible Hebrews 11:13 (King James Version) says, "These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. http://ecclesia.org/truth/enoch.html |
