Pmdaboh, what's your take on some folks who insist on a prenup because they were taken to the cleaners in the course of the demise of their previous marriage/s? |
This is an opportunity that I missed in Nigeria, because I am also eager to be fluent in French, so I could travel to some Francophone countries. Does anybody have an idea on Learning French via tapes/DVD? Are they effective? |
Jesus Christ was crucified for our sins, died and resurrected on the Third Day. Even the His enemies know that. |
He Lives Forever! |
Enough of this topic!. I mean, it has been rehashed over and over again, all these comparisons between Achebe and Soyinka. Orikinla, I have to ask you, what exactly is your problem with Achebe "resting on his past glories"? The man is old, he has written at least 2 internationally acclaimed novels, a feat that is unsurpassed by his contemporaries in Africa. Give the man a break, or better still, continue from where he stopped. |
almondjoy, male or female? Anyway, how now? What of MaJ? |
STock market in America is characterized by volatility, but mutual funds are a safer bet, and sometimes offer a better return than stocks. |
Have not had any significant cultural shock when I visit Nigeria. The only thing perhaps was maybe I was too trusting, but then again, nobody took me for a ride. I fit in easily when I visit home. It is always nice to be home |
SweetT, where did you gather such an unfounded allegations that all companies tweak their financial report, apart from non-profits? you gotta do your research first, before jumping into hasty conclusions. You live in America, dont you? You would remember that the same non-profit company that you are defending have been entangled in controversy before. Some years back, Goodwill store, a non-profit was mired in controversy when it was revealed that some of its employees had ripped off the company financially. I can never vouch for any company in this world, for profit, or non-profit, but that does not mean that they arent some scrupulous organizations in the firm. As for the stock market, I think there are some people who are in for short term purposes. Even in America, I have read of some people who borrow money from credit card companies (0% transfer balance) and invest in the bank and gain over 4 percent. At the end of it, they pay off the bill and have some leftovers from the yield accumulated from the investments. No, the stock market in Nigeria is not saturated, you have to exercise caution when it comes to investing. |
Witchcraft exists. Anybody who has not experienced it should be very thankful for that. |
The poster is not an alarmist. Better to look before you leap in a society where accountability is not emphasized in the Nigerian society. While I disagree with him that the Nigerian stock market is saturated, at the same time, you have to realize that losses in the Nigerian stock market, unlike their American counterpart cant be deducted when filing your taxes. But then again, what I keep reading on this board, mostly is the gains people have made in the stock market. Should I take a leap? ![]() |
What is your contribution to the literary field in Africa@jprospero, before heaping insults on Africans? |
So Long a Letter The African Child |
What ? there is no mention of mohammed in The Holy Bible. John 14: 16-15 refers to the Holy Spirit. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=john%2014:16-17Anybody who claims that the Biblical passage is referring to mohammed is a LIAR! |
See the kain stuff people even stress about . . . questioning if Britney and K-fed would reconcile, I mean, what do you have to achieve or lose if they get together or not? |
The solution? Stay home and take care of your baby until they are of a certain age where they can exhibit traits of independence. As one of the older siblings in my family, I used to babysit my younger siblings (at least 2 of them), while my parents went to work. |
Abroad is not a bed of roses as some people assume it is back home. Remember when I worked in retail and I wanted to get another retail job in the same shopping center. Upon learning that I worked for a rival company, I was turned down for the job opportunity. Chei and man-pickin needed money at that time!. |
And how do whites feel when blacks wear suits? |
Living in the past, can you blame the? Which African leader's, (past or present) last name can be equated with the Pharoh title? Nkrumah? Mandela? |
Does the title "Pharoh' still exists in Egypt, or does it? |
Ironically, Egyptians dont regard themselves as black. |
Second hand smoke poses adverse effects to your lungs like asthma, lung cancer according to the American lung Association. You might be saving a lot of money in the long run if you move out into a place of your own, or share with a non-smoker. http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35422 |
Banderas, did you . . .? When is the d-day? Let me know. |
Well, a stay at home dad, meaning that he takes care of the kids, while his wife brings home the bacon. Is there anything wrong with that, particularly if the wife's salary (in the first place) outpaced the man's take home pay? |
Sad. The woman tried for South Africa |
I think the most popular book after The Holy Bible is "Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan. It is even regarded in some quarters as the second best selling book in the world after The Holy Bible. |
