Politics › Re: Why Did Ibos Support The Deportation Of Yorubas Earlier In 2011? by nduchucks: 9:37am On Aug 02, 2013
Sincere 9gerian: NONSENSE! Most of the people that are currently waging the war on Fashola were not on NL then. I was not on NL. Many others were not too. Besides, many people are becoming increasingly aware of their rights to fight senseless policies. Personally, my anger is with the impunity with which Fashola detain Nigerians in concentration camps and deport them. My anger is with the audacity of the govt to repeat the deportation after the outcry that greeted earlier deportations. Yes, Fashola has deported people (including Igbos) in the past but we cannot allow him to continue with such illegality, impunity and mans inhumanity to man
It is quite easy to agree with most of your post above, but I find the bolded part in blue colour, quite revealing. The illegality you mentioned also violates section 35 of our constitution which our President swore to defend and for which he asked for God's help in defending, when he was sworn in.

You come across as GEJ's praise singer and a political jobber who is too dishonest to call upon the mute President to defend our constitution in this case. The incompetent President has not issued a single statement about this blatant unconstitutional act, formed a committee to fully investigate the matter, or ordered a full defense of our constitution by the AG of the federation. Instead, our alleged drunkard of a President has gone mute.

Have some dignity for once and call for the President to defend our constitution. His silence in this case and that of the River state crisis, in my view, constitute impeachable acts.

I am beginning to suspect that eating of emmanu (oily soup) may have a very adverse effect on one's brain.

I am quite disappointed at the level of senselessness and shortsightedness of many of the posters on this thread.

We now know that there exists a SSS report which shows clearly that many of the deportees who were forcefully deported to Anambra State and dumped in the commercial city of Onitsha, most of whom were alleged to be Anambra indigenes, are not from Anambra state.

This deportation violates several provisions of section 35 of our constitution and must be checked. Lets hope GEJ has the guts to take the lead and defend the constitution of this country, as he swore to do, when he was sworn in as our President.

Politics › APC Welcomes Soludo The "Solution" To The Party. by nduchucks(op): 1:18pm On Jul 31, 2013
Now that INEC is poised to approve the merger of various political parties including Soludo's APGA, and register APC, I take this opportunity to welcome Soludo.

Soludo's entry to the party solves an Important problem. Many of us had openly supported Fashola as a front runner for the VP slot, but recent actions by Fashola hurt the party because the Igbos whose support will be needed in 2015 are disillusioned by recent actions by Fashola's government.

Fashola does not seem ready for national prime time. I submit that Soludo comes into APC as the "Solution" indeed. Nwanne m maramma, welcome aboard sir.

naptu2: The bolded has been said by one side, while the others side has said something different. You may choose to go with one side, but I will not. Secondly, why should I apologise? Am I the Lagos State Government?
/
You have been providing us with links to support your points and I appreciate the links. I challenge you to provide links to show that the said deportation was negotiated. Who negotiated on behalf of the deportees? Who represented the state?

Do you know why you will fail in your attempt to provide the links I asked for? Its because no negotiations took place. There is no need to appear dishonest about this issue.

By the way, the commissioner you quoted above did not have any choice but to deny the deportation, knowing fully well that such deportation constitutes a criminal act. I'm sure you didn't expect him to publicly admitting to a crime. The same commissioner made no mention of a negotiated repatriation, so where did you get that falsity from?
Politics › Re: Lagos Didnt Deport Beggars, Only Reunited Them With Their Families by nduchucks: 10:41am On Jul 31, 2013
naptu2: Really? I'd like to see verifiable evidence. The fulani also had armed military escorts when they were relocated, but that did not mean that it was forced. They were only relocated after negotiations had taken place and they had agreed to be relocated.
The Fulani relocation you referenced above may have been negotiated but the deportation of Igbos in question was not a negotiated deportation as some would have us believe. Accounts by the deported victims do not support the idea of negotiated relocation in this case.

If you have any evidence of this negotiation, please provide it and some of us will apologize. For now, I still believe that the deportation was a criminal and inhumane act.

victims: One of the destitute, Mr. Osondu Mbuto, from Ohaozara in Ebonyi State and a petty trader in Lagos, had told journalists that they were dumped at about 3.00am on Wednesday morning at Upper Iweka after being detained in Ikorodu, Lagos, for over six months for alleged wandering and other minor offences by the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) officials.

They were brought to Onitsha in four buses, escorted by Anti-Riot Policemen. Mbuto said he was arrested by the KAI officials while going to his shop on December 18, 2012.
Pray tell, is it customary to dump people under a bridge after escorting them with Anti-Riot policemen? Sir this
does not appear to be a negotiated deportation at all. Please stop this lame attempt at defending the indefensible. naptu2, cut your losses now, give it up and apologize for a botched operation, on behalf of a otherwise, fine government.
Family › Re: Can You Attend The Marriage Of A Gay Brother Or Relative? by nduchucks: 1:01am On Jul 31, 2013
I'm amazed that people are still quite backward in their thinking. Dan Daudu (effeminate gays) have been accepted for who they are from Kaduna to Sokoto and all over the north. These people are citizens and should not be discriminated against.

Having said that, if a gay brother of mine wants to get married, I will continue to love him but will be on an unavoidable business trip on the wedding day, lest I commit a sin.

Politics › Re: Lagos Didnt Deport Beggars, Only Reunited Them With Their Families by nduchucks: 3:22am On Jul 30, 2013
No one doubts the goodness in many of the Fashola's policies. Selling the so-called repatriation of "beggars" as some sort of family reunification is to say the least dishonest, and possibly criminal.

naptu2: The reason why nobody has been able to sue is simply because nobody has been deported.

People who violate environmental sanitation laws are given 4 options (previously they were given 3 options).

1) Go to a rehabilitation centre

2) Go to jail.

3) Repatriation/re-integration

4) Community service.
Sir many of those who were deported to the East did not choose to be deported, they were forcibly deported and accosted with armed guards. This act is criminalto say the least

Let me also add that she is more accomplished than many of you people who are vilifying her, will ever be.

You people have turned this Ladipo imbroglio into your usual Yoruba vs Igbo fight, once more. My opinion about these ongoing disagreements can be summed up as follows (with the aid of some gifs):

On the right: Yoo'ba
On the left: Igbo

This is what guarantees one Nigeria cool

Ngwakwe: Our people withstood the Europeans who had guns in 1923 and will resist with their blood the Clannish imposition of a greedy fellow to oversee our sweat. This is 2013.
Are you equating Babaloja's environmental sanitation and cleaning up of Ladipo market in the area occupied by Igbo traders to Colonization which you are ready to die for? Nwanne, you are delusional.

Politics › Re: Ladipo Traders On Rampage by nduchucks: 4:04pm On Jul 27, 2013
I urge posters to find out what obtained in markets across Lagos and understand the traditional process of choosing the Babaloja of any market.

The process has never been democratic and the royal fathers who controlled the areas where the markets are located have the sole responsibilities of nominating the Babaloja. I urge the Igbos in Ladipo to honor and respect the tradition of Lagosians instead of making unnecessary waves and trying to change the tradition in Ladipo.

Our people talk say "O bialu be onye abiagbuna ya, mgbe o ga-ala mkpumkpu apukwana ya n'azu." na him be say, "May one's visitor not constitute a problem, so that on his departure he will not leave with a hunchback".

OAM4J: Your post with gif was offtopic. Am sure you know it.

The thread is not Yoruba Vs Igbo fight.
I suppose thats your opinion.

Note however that the theme of the thread essentially evolved to the fact that these two tribes are always in opposition to each other and do not see eye to eye. My observation that this inability to cooperate is one of the reasons why Nigeria remains one, is in order as far as I am concerned.

Anyway you guys are the mods so your judgement call takes the day.

BTW: I was tempted to paste my Rakumi gif here to show that denial may explain why you may think that the thread did not reflect cyber fights between Igbo and Yoruba NLers. The said Rakumi in my gif, buried his head in the sand. cheesy

Dear Mods,

Please point out the rule violation in my hidden post on the Lagos deportation thread

https://www.nairaland.com/1371505/lagos-dumps-beggars-homeless-onitsha

I simply used symbolism to express an opinion and do not believe that posting a gif of 2 giraffes is offensive in anyway. Please unhide the post or tell me why you hid it. We don't want to go down the path of frivolous censorship. If you hid it because of my spelling of Yoruba as Yoo'ba, I'll be glad to make appropriate adjustment.
