While there is dignity in Labour, even for a janitor or a lawyer, a driver, or banker as bills must be paid. That does not give you the impetus to refer to a whole people in words that pass your pay grade. Well, insults etc are normal with folks such as you.

Let Nigeria leave ECOWAS for six months, then you'll see what happens

Nigerian fuel is being sold cheaply in those african countries including Ghana.

Ghana recently sent officials to ask nigeria for refined fuel once dangote refinery starts operating. This is despite the fact that they owe nigeria millions of dollars from unpaid gas supplied

Nigeria Does not need these other African countries, they need us

If anything happens and they decide to send nigerians out of their country, no issue there's enough space in Nigeria. It won't affect our economy.

But let nigeria start dealing with them in same coin, they won't survive it
Interesting.
I think Nigerian fuel is sold through smuggled routes to neighbours, Benin, Niger, Chad. Cameroon. Don't know if it goes as far as eg ghana.
Anyway, dangote refinary might build a leverage to make them and others fall in line.
But how come those countries can owe us millions in dollars from eg gas supplies and still poke their fingers in our eyes? is it that we cannot carry our weight diplomatically?

I think the leverage Nigeria had on the the smaller African countries eg ghana as been degraded due to the boarder closure. Those countries that felt they could not survive without us and so behaved have seen they actually can. They have seen we need them more than they do, because the have more our our citizens residing in their countries, due to the downturn in our economy cause by this apc gang.
If ghana supposedly deals with our citizens unfairly, what can our government do?

Those days, me and my paddy, still my best friend till date. Went to secondary school, university. He stays in the UK. I de naija. No week if not day we don't talk. Guess what he is Yoruba.
Back to tori. We were in 100 level in UI. My egbon I stayed with at quarters went to home. So just me and my paddy. That night we went to one of the halls to watch Chinese film and MOJO in the bursary. 2 jew men grin
Kai around 2 am, we headed back home. Na so we de hear gunshots! Hmm, we took off, we did not know where to run to in the darkness. When we see people, we will takeoff again. As we were moving we saw something on the ground. A lump. We were not sure, na so we near the thing. My paddy, hmm, say fear de catch am. Do you know it was as if it was magnet dragging us. We neared it. Omo, it was dead body! Chai!
See, the run we ran that night, 2 kilometers non stop, it has only been surpass years later when I was older with potbelly drinking beer at a joint in akowonjo and then gunshots. Everybody took off. I left my car keys, my phone, beer on the table and joined the crown to take off. When we run for 5mins, then stop to rest, someone will shout, "they are comming"! Omo, run will start again! That day I ran all the way to shasha, about 3 kilometers! Luckily, my car, phone was intact when I got back. I was sick for 2 weeks!
Anyway back to the gist. The next day we found out who was killed.
So sad, it was one very handsome, light skinned "Hardman". When we go for lectures in social sciences, you see him sit by the abegi, boning and doing hard man. Rumors had it he was in cult. Rusticated from some school elsewhere and then came to UI. Fine boy. Purpose of my gist, he fell by the wayside. This was 1990/1991 session. I can still remember his face. Who knows who he could have being today, president, priest, minister, billionaire etc. sad

Op, forget her and move on . When hunger and shame torture her she'll come crawling back. Secondly , it won't be easy for her to find someone willing to marry her and bear the burden of carrying the financial responsibility of her son .

Lol...Infact , I pity this woman . She's deluded and doesn't know that being a single mother is the worst sentence a woman can give herself in this harsh economy.
While I support you in that the guy should move on. See now a days hunger and and shame does not affect most women, especially if they are educated, skilled or beautiful. In the first place, it is obvious the lady has a family home to return to. Besides you can see where she said she had "endured" with him despite him not having money. She endured, meaning there is a possibility she could have had it better.
Forget it oh. I have lots of instances of ladies that their husbands thought they could not survive without them, yes initially it was difficult, the men moved on flaunting their new relationships etc. Omo few years down the line, those ladies are doing so well, in most cases better than the husbands. You know what? it is the husbands now trying to come back. The kids are all grown. Two, I know that relocated to the US with their kids and are registered nurses. One I know that is a doctor in Ireland.
In Lagos nko, plenty, the women are doing well.
OP made heavy statements to the lady he alluded to. See, before I met my wife, I was doing reasonably well, we got married and things slowed down for sometime, does it mean I will place the blame on her as the op did? I visited a friend those days, his neighbour's wife badged in screaming, that her husband said if he does not "pick" money within the next few days he will kill her, that she was bad luck. Today, the lady is in the US with the kids, the man is in naija under heavy suffering.
In surmarry, I think the man should give her some space, let her focus on having something of her own. He too should focus on his career, as she is not around to slow him down. He should achieve much abi?
But he should keep in touch and be responsible for the child. Who knows in future the marriage might work again.
Nb: we don't even know if the op married her properly as in paid her bride price, Or if it is the normal Lagos marriage of carry belle and move in.

See, what happens, if I need workers, eg, driver, house help, security, chefs etc they charge me 10k (not current with present charges). They also have a list of people eg the op, that have registered with them via the 3k payment. They send those people to me. I might employ or not. Depending on agreement, it does not even end there. The employment agent most times takes half of the first salary if the job hunter. Some are so mean they share salary for 3 months!

Travel › Re: Nigerian Airlines To Receive 40 Brand New Aircraft In 36 Months by nedekid: 11:17am On Jan 13, 2023
Racoon:
As usual, Air Nigeria is ordering zilch aircraft but waiting for Ethiopian Airlines to salvage its shameless reputation.

Ibom Air and Air Peace have proven that you can better manage an airline if the right people, resources and policies are in place.

Nigeria Airways was destroyed by Buhari government in 1984-85. Yet all failed promises about having a functional airline also happened during his disastrous regime of 2015-2023.

He even promised to drastically reduced the presidential air fleet to formed a national carrier and minimise cost of government but as usual, all the promised of 2015 have long not been fulfilled but shamelessly denied.
Truth of the matter is that a Nigerian national carrier can never work. Nigerians are "oversmart" to the extent nothing works.
I remember those days of Nigeria airways, boeing 707, boeing 747, DC 10, the airbus 310 that came later. I flew in all of them. Lagos to gatwick, Heathrow, stopping to pick passengers from Kano. (make sure you use the loo before the Kano stop, cause back them folks from that side were not used to using normal toilets, if you know what I mean).
What lead to the death of Nigeria airways? Free tickets! From staff, to politicians, they will not pay. Government officials will fly free, who is the oga in the airline that will not issue ticket to the whole family + house helps etc of one NPN northern politician? He will lose his job shap sharp.
It got to a stage, half of the flight will be non paying. It got so bad, pilots will keep their girlfriends upstairs in the 747 to fly first class, while customers that paid for same seat will be kept in economy!
The final killer was when, due to the airline hemorrhaging money, will go abroad and there will be no money to pay for fuel. The plane will then be stranded. Cabin crew will go around asking passengers to contribute money for petrol. Lol
All the aviation companies servicing aircraft, Nigeria airways was owing, even catering, ground services companies. Next thing our aircraft's were being seized around the world!
Must of us started flying the then British caledonian and other airlines.
I remember I went with Oga Ned sometime 2001 or so to see his friend, a Captain, that tried restating Nigeria airways with 2 leased aircraft. The man was so passionate and genuinely wanted it to work. I even flew with them to UK for 50k airfare.
Do you know the then aviation minister, frustrated them. Heard she had her own personal interests in having her investors set up a national carrier. Based on that, she instructed that all tickets sales and revenues be remitted to Abuja, Abuja will then approve any expenditure the airline need. Haba. Plane will fly to London, they will then be calling Abuja to send petrol money or run expenses.
Those were the frustrations that MD was telling Ned and I.
See the other day, sultan of sokoto demanded air peace hold a flight that was on the runway, loaded with passengers for. When it was declined, they said airpeace disrespected the emirate and that they might ban the airline from flying there, demanding the airline be sanctioned.
Now imagine if it was a Nigerian national carrier, ministers, police, man o war, customs, lastma, vio, army, Governors wife etc will commandeer fully loaded aircraft with fare paying customers to park and wait that they are in traffic comming to board. Infact they will insist passanger leave their seat for them.
