You might need to rephrase your question so one can answer accordingly.

1)Are you asking about how much you will need to pay to get a approvable structural drawing?if yes, negotiate with your structural engineer.

2) Are you asking if you are to pay LASPPA to approve a structural design for you? If yes, you are not paying for that.

3) Are you asking about the cost of structural stability test for the said building (5 bedrooms duplex and 2 bedrooms 4 flat)? If yes, that’s between you and your engineer, LASPPA don’t have anything to do with it, their own is to receive and vet the result you provide.

Bottom line: you are only paying for assessment into LASG account, which is after your architectural and structural (mechanical and electrical)”if more than two floors” has been vetted and approved.

Remote working is not the issue here. In this case, an architect might need to visit the site more than once to clarify or check things and the cost of the visit is a big bugbear when it's out of town. I often offer to bear this but there is a natural limit after which you begin to wonder whether a local option would have been a smarter choice.

There was a dispute here recently on concrete paving work. I believe had the contractor had been able to readily drive down perhaps on his way home from work, it might not have escalated as much as it did.

So, I've worked with many artisans here, imported from Lagos to work on my project. Other than Gbadexy - and that's simply because he supplies paints - on time, on spec, and makes himself readily available for remote consultation - I have found myself wishing these were more local because my project would perhaps then get more attention.

If I was scoring them, and they got a perfect 10 in the actual job execution, I would deduct at least half a point for follow-up unresponsiveness, sadly magnified by the distance issue.

I agree with you, most of the time is much better sourcing labour locally. Distant labour can cause you unnecessary delays and extra money trying to bring them to and from and also coming back for jobs not perfectly executed.

The last time i had a project in Lagos i made sure i got everyone around Lagos and now that i have an ongoing project in the East, am only recruiting Artisans from that reagion. I no get power to chase person wey dey 400 miles away.

I ask because recent samples of kitchens that I've seen and intend to copy don't really have wall tiles.

Again, what's the consequence of not tiling the kitchen walls wall to wall.

Wall to wall tiling is our Nigerian way of building, am not a fan though. Like u said, must of the beautiful kitchens ive also seen only have tilles where needed and that how am planning the kitchen of my on going project. The workers and supervisor are already singing it to my ears that i will have to tile kitchen and bathroom to the top but i just dey look them when that times comes i will ask them to tile it to the top with their own money, at the end they will tell me its your house and the case will be closed.

Yes you can use Spy camera

Spy cameras are much better for indoor purpose, some of them could be a wall clock or even a teddy bear hanging on the wall.

A visible out door camera is ideal if you ask me, having the idea that you are been watched will make one comport themself. A dummy camera works very well too.
