KolaShangOne:This is BRILLIANT!!! |
Mtcheww.... they ban indecent dressing, but won't ban the professors and lecturers from harassing their students. |
EgunMogaji:Oga EgunMogaji, any updated pictures on this fine gate house? I'm planning to build one too with toilet and kitchenette, and wondered if you'd share the floor plan and finished pics. Where did you put the soak away? If you have a smooth floor, do you still have to tile? Thanks |
fullz:Water table in Port Harcourt is low... it's in the Niger delta/creeks. You can't dig without reaching water. Further inland towards hilly Enugu the water table is much much lower, hence you have to dig deep. |
Chukabiz:Is there no space for publicizing the good that one does so other celebrities and regular people can be inspired to do the same for somebody else? All we hear on the news is bad things about this hard country so to have examples of people helping people is very encouraging. |
suzan404:Obviously he uses a condom, considering the number of chicks in his life. Only two children over how many years does not constitute "borning pikin like pig". |
Mojibola:Based on the damage and the statement that the car somersaulted 4 times, it's likely was going very very fast. You can't dissipate that much energy at low speeds. |
All these people watching you and your opponent knock your brains silly... hope they will be there to help you when you start suffering from brain-damage related syndromes 15 years from now. Take am jeje.... fight a few bouts, invest your money (not on cars, girls and flashy house), and get out as soon as you can. ![]() |
Spetzzy7:Because his God already gave him a brain he should use, but he chose instead to ignore physics. God also made it possible for him to be born after all the decades of research into car safety. If he was speeding like this before 1980 he likely won't have survived. I find that resorting to thanking God for sparing lives while ignoring all the background and hardwork that got to this point, too simplistic. If we left it all to God, and didn't actively work hard to reduce roadside fatalities, there wouldn't be seat belts in cars (for instance). |
Tapout:It could have been disabled, not inspected, or deployed in a past life without being repacked. |
I wish people will give credit to where it's due: that he is alive is the result of decades of research, investment, and legislation (not done by Nigerians of course) into seat belts, air bags, roll bars, crumple zones and other such mitigation by the automobile industry. He could have also survived quite easily by not being an idiot and speeding. |
First of all, sorry, ehn. It is well. I've been sacked 3 times in my career. Everytime, there were rumours weeks and even months before it happened, which I used to prepare. Was this really sudden, or were people talking about impending sack? You say you're confused and don't know what to do; it's really quite simple: - scale down the wedding (or even postpone it if it's not too late) - apply for work (yes, I know there are no jobs, but you won't get one if you don't even apply) - start a small side hustle (even retailing pure water from your house or recharge card, which you can start with as low as 1k). Nothing is beneath you. I have a degree in engineering, yet have washed toilets, painted, gardened, done general labour, sold food, because anything is better than 0 naira. What I learned from my sackings are: - no matter how qualified you think you are, you are at somebody else's mercy (I know top tech people, bankers, sales staff who suddenly lost their jobs). Try to find ways to reduce your dependence on somebody for a job. - save 20-30% of your monthly salary for a rainy day. I know people will say there's barely money remaining after rent, food, and transport. My reply is: you can either find ways to save when you're employed or suffer the consequences when you lose your job. Your choice. Even if it means torch phone, no hanging out with the boys and 1 shoe... let people laugh. They won't give you a single naira when you need it. - you really need to keep one foot in some kind of business that will sustain you. Contracting on the side, selling pure water from your house to your neighbors, or a small provision store that you supervise. As you gather money, you can join some reputable groups/coops to do anything from leasing land for farming (you don't do the actual farming), importing, trading, buying land and developing it. Anything helps. Take this as a learning point. Ultimately, you are responsible for yourself - you cannot blame your employer for not "taking care of you". It is not in any business' interest to keep staff it can't pay otherwise the business will find itself in trouble and die. |
There's no supply without demand. India look internally and ask yourself why so many of your people want to smoke. And the irony is these same people won't vote to legalize what they are smoking. Smh |
lefulefu:Seconded and thirded. ![]() |
When you see the leopard eating grass... some things are just not done, unless under unusual conditions. The same girl you are washing blouse and skirt for, will one day be looking at you somehow. Keep on being a mumu. I'm no male chauvanist, but I know what is expected/and not expected of a man towards his lady. |
Whine whine whine... so now one is now supposed to rely on the enemy's sympathies? Jonathan was commander-in-chief of one of Africa's best fighting forces. He controlled enough budget for good intelligence, logistics, infiltration and weapons. That his commanding officers stole the money and didn't commit to the fight is his fault, and his alone. Now we're hearing about confused intelligence... well, who was ultimately in charge of the armed forces? President Jonathan. It was his job to appoint the right people, investigate claims of incompetence, and refer offenders for court-martial. If one assume the mantle of leadership of an organization and doesn't make concrete plans to improve it, I would called that failed leadership. Defending Jonathan's failure to crush Boko Haram is quite silly, in my opinion. ![]() |
3. He must not be in a crowd of more than 10 people Emphasis is mine. Considering the spirit and intent of the conditions (not the literal letter of the conditions), my interpretation is that a crowd specifically means a public gathering/rally especially if he's actively addressing the crowd for political purposes. The difficulty with strict interpretation of the 10-people gathering (like the OP is trying to apply), is that he would not be allowed to be in queue at a bank, ATM, theater, or even hospital or hotel lobby. It would disallow him from being with members of his family, or board a (local) flight. I can see his lawyers arguing successfully that this instance - a private party, something you'd be hard-pressed to call a crowd - is not in violation of his bail conditions. Of course, I'm not the judge and it's up to her esteemed opinion whether this is a violation or not. |
Whaaa... very impressive. |
Smily202:It just goes to show that we're all vulnerable. Just because that one flyover has been worked on does not mean we still don't have serious erosion issues in the East. One heavy rain and we have floods or houses and walls destroyed (and sometimes lives lost). It's a Nigerian problem, no need to speak as if it happens only in "brown roof republic". |
Smily202:What has that got to do with anything? Back in my side out East, this is what we contend with:

Poor Chinese guys... They will be on the plane now purging with diarrhea ![]() |
Lexusgs430:The returns on using 1M for business in Nigeria compounded after 5 years can pay for annual vacations abroad. Why would 1M remain dormant earning peanuts in interest? As an example, import 1M goods, make 1.5M turnover. Now import 1.5M, sell for 2.25M. Lather, rinse, repeat. |
Lexusgs430:It's a wash... If you don't pay tax, then you're likely earning a bit less, since it's under the table. And if you've got living arrangements with your employer, then you're likely earning even less. You might go up to $13 or even $15/hour, but that's on the high end for house help, and you'd be lucky to pick up a lot of hours at that rate. Yes there are some who are extremely lucky, but the estimates I gave are not too far off. If you don't have a sponsor you have to repay, then view it as replenishing the savings you had to sacrifice for the trip. The point is, unless you're a professional (which likely means you had to get a 4-year degree abroad - more debt there), it's very difficult to "make it" with service labour. When I consider the people who stay here and become well-to-do with the same investment they would have used to travel, it's puzzling that those with the means to travel don't invest at home. Afterall, gathering almost 1M means you're not dirt poor. Those with the means to go abroad complain about how hard life is in Naija - as they type on their expensive phone, drop 500naira on beer, rock expensive clothing, and sit around waiting for an opportunity to drop in their laps. If they spent 1/2 the time actually using their energy and money wisely, they would have made it. Honestly, for every 1 that goes to wash plate or become mayguard abroad, I can show you 1 very successful business person who became wealthy here in Naija: property developers, importers, traders, farmers, logistics, snack sellers, etc. How many mansions have been built by been-tos? How many by those living here? How many over there can pay cash for their children's birth or college education? Or pay rent for 2 years? Or pay cash for a car? |
Lexusgs430:Doubt it. Such a person would still be limited to the number of hours in a day. And a maid making $10/hour times 10hours is looking at a monthly income after tax of 10x10 x 6days x 4weeks x .70 (after tax you keep about 70%) = $1680/month which seems like a lot till you shell out 800 rent, 200 utilities, 400 food, 300 health insurance, 200 transport, and the rest to payback whoever helped you get over there. Before you know it, you find yourself working and not saving anything |
Mcowubaba:I doubt he meant to offend with local (as in backwards), but meant local to Nigeria, i.e. not foreign. Like when one says local government, or local delicacy - there's nothing offensive in that use, is there? |
The real irony is that the money spent to go abroad (many trips to embassy, visa, ticket, living expenses) could start a very good business here. If you can gather 1M, why the hell are you going to obodo oyinbo? You will make so much more from that 1M in business. But of course, we all want jobs jobs jobs... You know how many jobs you can create with your 1M business? You know how large your business will become in 2-5 years? |
allCopacetic:allCopacetic, It looks like they've managed to make an entire roof with panels, with channels for drainage. Do you think the roof leaks when it rains? I was trying to make a roof for a hostel made from solar panels, but we had so many issues with leakage that I had to go back to use traditional aluminium span, and then panels on top. Very innovative design - the V roof is a smart idea - neatly done.

Foxyn:Please, I beg you, do not make this kind of joke. It is too expensive. You may score cheap points on nairaland, but it can cost people their lives. I respect my President, even though I wish he did some things differently. |
They should slash it and watch their subscribers port... who send them? Before with glo I have to carry my system outside, holding it at one angle to get signal. If it rains like this, forget... then I got smart and started using MTN. I wish glo would be better, but it seems they are just getting worse each year. |
All you guys looking at camel toe... horse toe nko? I like the way Mr bad guy dress sha... simple white shirt, jeans, steel toe shoes and nice watch. All on point... I wish I could look that good in my older years |
I say "baby you fine, I wan befriend you" She say "ehen , before nko? you are #4 on the list" I say "no wahala, I will wait" She say "buy me shawarma", na so I take waka |
Abeg, use that 25M build house or hostel for rent. At least you will have something to fall back on. |
