wonderr:
no mind them why didn't he go to Egypt before this election time and used everything he gains there to help anambra?
When he was governor of Anambra nearly 8 years ago, he improved education, health care, and showed prudence with government funds.

Shall we be upset with a student for focusing on one subject last year, and now choosing to enhance his understanding of a different subject, because it will improve his changes to get the job he wants?

When better to do campaigning if not during election time? Yes, this trip to Egypt is part of campaigning, and has done more for his image than if he had just done the usual thing of going to party rallies locally. Yes those will come (though he has already visited the 36 states before he emerged as LP candidate).

He need to expand his message around the country, especially more rural areas, but I would imagine that he's smarter than I am, so has a plan for all these.

How did you study Egypt infrastructurer development within less than 48hrs?

We don't just refer to him as a fraud. We have over 20 evidences.

The same Obi told you that he has 1 wristwatch
The same Obi criticized present ASUU strike but same Obi put Medical doctors in Anambra for 13 months strike when he was a Gov.
Obi can only deceive the gullible ones.
You can't understand the whole thing in 48 hours. Obviously he has previously studied Egypt enough to know this is the trip to make; he has already made his connections to the people and places he wants to see. Now is the first of many learning visits where seeing can really enhance and solidify what he already knows, and will prompt more questions and avenues for future study.

Upon all the textbook knowledge one can have, a field trip is quite valuable, and reinforces your understanding. When I was JSS2, I went on a school field trip to Kainji Dam. Our actual time in that dam was barely 2 hours, but it really boosted my understanding and interest about hydroelectricity, and I would say it formed part of who I am now: a power engineer. Seeing those huge motors spinning due to the running water gave me an insight that I didn't get from textbooks.

Of all the candidates, he seems the one who is going to do Nigeria the most good, whether he put doctors on strike or not, or whether he has one wristwatch or not. If you take the total sum of what he has done, I'd say he's on the positive side of things.

I won't criticize any other candidates, but I will just boost my preferred choice.

grin but I wonder if Peter obi claim to have gotten these educational qualifications from those prestigious institution in advance countries and still need to go and be studying Egypt to develop his country.

Is it that he has not seen any single meaningful concept from all his education and exposure to at least do something meaningful for Nigeria even without going to Egypt??
His education was not in engineering. He has degrees in business, management, and economics. Education teaches you a lot of things, including the value of continuous learning and on the value of case studies. In this particular case, there is a large engineering component, afterall you want to see the machinery at work that will produce the power. Then he will speak to the management and financial people to understand the costs and the medium-term management needs.

This means as he is campaigning, he is also making some of the connections and synthesizing the thoughts that will go into policy making for the power sector. As a result he will be much better equipped start his search for competent cabinet members for the task (which is not something you wait for six months after getting the job to start doing).

Even me, as an engineer, I do go for training and case studies... it's how we all improve on our education. Nothing is static.

I wish these religious figures would use their time and energy to predict when gunmen will visit their churches, instead of dragging with politicians. And why is Mbaka once again sowing discord to drag his fellow Igbo man down? I know this is supposed to be a tribal-free election, because I honestly feel Obi is the man that will do the best for Nigeria in his term, but I just don't understand why all Igbos cannot just all join hands behind him.

I swear, if another Igboman says fem against Obi, I'm going to let them have it.

We talk about marginalization, that we've never had a civilian Igbo president since forever, etc. Yet when we have somebody with a slim chance, all kinds of bad belle people will troop out to bring him down. Why don't we just put all hands on deck, support him; get businesses to sponsor billboards and his campaign and take the message to all parts of Nigeria. Not because he is Igbo, but because this is the best chance we will get to make things right. Una mumu never do?

“A stingy man, that cannot give people his money, with this hunger ravaging the land, and you are saying he is the one you want. You want to die of hunger? Are you people insane? Where is the Holy Spirit?
- Brethen* Mbaka, why??

We want a young stingy man who understands the reason for the hunger and who can take effective steps to end the hunger in the first place. In fact, this stingy man left over 90billion in state coffers for his successor, and is currently on a tour to learn from a more successful country, and bring those lessons to bear here.

I'd rather this kind of man, than the one who shares rice and a 500 naira, only to leave us hungry for 4 years. I'd rather have somebody who refuses to give gifts from state funds, but instead uses those funds to equip schools. We can all feed ourselves once the economy is boosted, and won't have to rely on handouts, like our brethren in the Lord is implying.

We don't need to see anybody eating with school children, plaiting hair, or frying akara. I'd rather see them all taking courses in economics and policy making.

(* I refuse to call any religious figure "father", for we have but one Father)

We are in the political season again and there has been lots of conversations about betrayals. However, one Interesting betrayal that I see is between Atiku and Peter Obi.
So if your boss is treating you in a way that is hampering your progress, is it a betrayal to resign and go to a different company? Even if you had benefited from your job in terms of training and exposure. If your boss wants to continue benefiting from you, then they should continue to treat you well.

What do you call all the PDP to APC, and APC to PDP carpet crossers? Even Atiku has some baggage with his OBJ, who views him as a traitor for going against the former's third term agenda and gunning for the top office. Should Atiku view Buhari as a traitor for choosing Yaradua instead of him?

If I didn't know better, this looks like political sabotage: pretend to support Obi and chop his campaign funds, divide the Southern vote, and at the end of the day, none of these people will vote for Obi.

Obi should not be swayed by all this song and dance.

Just like the 300 delegates that said they voted for Shehu Sanni (but he only got 2 votes)

ogbiwa:
While I understand the appeal of Peter Obi and would vote for him, but the issue is that the south that should vote him already have their votes split between him and Tinubu, while Atiku has the undivided northern votes behind him. How does Obi work a way around this?
And that was the masterstroke the Northern governors made when they insisted APC ticket should go to the South. Obi had decamped before they changed their tune to solidly back a southern candidate; They already made this calculus that was easy to see from a mile away. Unless North rejects Atiku, he will be our next president. I am still surprised at the numbers Tinubu got, so I would be careless to dismiss him.

The Obi train is a wonderful thing to see, but I fear that after all the initial gra gra, this too shall fade away. Elections are won by people in rural areas (and we have a lot more of them than the relatively well off Nigerians who can afford data to be on social media). The youths will let themselves down again, forgetting to deeply connect with their peers in rural areas of the North. What am I even saying, this is even assuming counting in the North will be fair, and we won't have under aged voters being counted 3 times.

The irony is that the youth voting bloc is the biggest percentage. If only they would leave tribalism and party politics aside, the choice is clear. I personally am not going to get my hopes up.

Because our useless officers find it lucrative to parasite on the back of hard working Nigerians, than to do their jobs.

Great.

Although I don't think there's any law that insists that a candidate must be screened by the party (a la APC Oyegun style) before contesting and winning an election.

This APC primaries, the suspense pass Game of Thrones.
Actually the law states that a candidate has to be part of a political party, no matter how small. I was surprised to learn that a while ago. It's then up to the parties to decide their method for selecting/screening their candidate.

I'd been saying for long that all this news about Jonathan came from the cabal that want to make sure power returns to North after 4 years. This is just plain mischief making.

Sleekfingers:
Na only lagos dey for nigeria? The last time I checked, we have 36 states in nigeria. They should go to other states na.....we don't want bikes in Lagos anymore......

I love the crushing . They should nalso be sending them to jail , the passenger also should be fine or 6 months community services, by sweeping the streets, clean public toilets, clean government primary schools toilets, maybe , dem go know say, we ain't joking
There are many other places they can go, but I still think they should have been given time (my post said 1 month) to get out of town. It's not easy to suddenly uproot yourself (possibly with family) to another state just like that. There was no time to even secure where to stay or gather funds to move. What about the year's rent they already paid? Is anyone going to refund them so they can move? School fees?

This is also what I mean by cruelty: just crushing the bikes that somebody saved and sacrificed for years to obtain. Then the suggestion to fine passengers who would not be taking okada in the first place if there were cost- and time- efficient alternatives for them to get around. I'm not saying the ban is bad, but as is typical in Nigeria, there's often not a soft landing given before the complete and utter ban, and everyone has to essentially start from scratch.

No subsidies for those who will now be paying double for some trips; no time or compensation for seizing bikes that (I must say) are legal to own; no alternative employment for those who will now be left without livelihoods, and without the asset that's lawfully theirs.

I welcome the lawsuit, and I pray the government is forced to compensate for their loss.
Politics › Re: Okada Ban: Lagos Crushes 2,228 Impounded Motorcycles (Video, Photos) by nextstep(m): 5:26pm On Jun 03, 2022
This is cruel. Na work dem de work, no be tif. People worked hard to gather money to buy these bikes, and a lot of them are on hire purchase.
In one fell swoop, Lagos govt has just crushed the dreams and hard work of thousands of people. Where will they get money to replace this loss?

I know there are some bad apples here and there, and that people had been complaining about the growing menace, but you should give the majority law-abiding ones fair warning, not just ban them one day, then seize their property the next. It would be something if government compensated them for the loss of their vehicle and income, or gave them 1 month to get out of town; it's not a crime to own a motorcycle is it? Haba, the insensitivity of governments in this country is something else.

So all the bike riders who have been feeding their families, and have been careful not to injure anyone, that have been paying all their dues, working this job because nothing else was available, what will they do now? All the investors who poured money into these bikes - just like that, all that lost.

If some of these people lose hope and start terrorizing the citizens, can we blame them?

Phones › Re: Who Pays More For A Whatsapp Call? The Caller Or The Receiver? by nextstep(m): 4:36pm On Jun 03, 2022
ollah2:
The question wasn't who pays but who pays more.
You both pay the same: you both send and receive the same number of packets, just as you would with a file. MTN or Glo don't care (or shouldn't) about the contents of your packets - whether you shared a video or you make a voice call. You both pay for the transfer of data (unless somehow it's cheaper to download than to upload)

For example, caller sends 1MB worth of their voice, you receive 1MB of their voice; meanwhile you sent 2MB of your voice (because you talk twice as much as you listen), and caller gets 2MB of your voice. You both transferred 3MB each, and get billed for that same amount of data.

Now the only difference I can see is if that each of you has a different tarriff/plan based on your phone provider or the bundle, but all else being equal, you will be charged the same, as you both used the same amount of data for the call. This is obviously different from a standard phone call or even sms.

Emma2Seconds:
Why all these stupid mentality in women.l thought that marriage is a union involving the both husband, Wife, children etc .
Very true, but sadly many men and their families have shown that no matter how wonderful a wife is, she can be made destitute at any freaking moment. Either the guy brings a new woman to displace her without notice; or if he should pass, the family will uproot her from the house with one excuse or another so they can inherit it.

I personally I'm a fan of women getting property in their own name, because too many examples and stories that touch.

OP, have you had a chance to have a sincere talk with your aunty-in-law, without judgment, so you can understand her position on this? It could be something husband said, or did, or something she witnessed to somebody else that triggered her actions. Since we don't know the full story - and I refuse to imagine the uncle is a saint - I will have to tell the man to buck up and face the responsibilities he took on to get married.

Er... the reason it's called an oil change is that you change the oil. It's not called an oil top up, as if you're adding petrol, wiper fluid, or even coolant. Your engine needs fresh oil, and should not be recycling old oil. BTW, did they charge you for a full oil change, as in a few liters of the new oil?

You want to return to the mechanic and have them change that oil for you properly. Where did the old oil go?

Or am I just reading it wrong, and they drained the old oil, but instead of using the normal filling inlet, he used the dipstick?
