Firstboi01:That is the sound of "no light for next 6 months", if not 2 years |
Firstboi01:Or you plug it in at night, and when the light comes back it blows your charger. You have 7% on your phone when you wake up, and now you have to spend 2k for a replacement. ![]() |
Foxyn:I so hate that thing eh. No light, then landlord is like, "dem give us 40k bill, make we share am". Me dat has only lamp and one small dvd, vs landlord with water heater, iron, ac, big TV. We should share the bill. Mtcheeeew |
EnigmaticEnigma:It's not because of title that we don't have light. Afterall the Brits have King Duke Lord Marques Viscount Count Baron Baronet Knight Lord Privy Lord Chancellor And many other lords of varying privilege Earl Esquire Sir Premier Peer Mayor Prime Minister Minister Governor |
Alero3Arubi: ![]() Correct girl But seriously, how do you want to marry a lady and you're broke? Is it with no job you will pay rent, feed your children, school them, and take them to hospital? This is not gold digging, it's simple common sense. Why should a woman go for a broke guy when there are other options? Even in the old days, as a young man, you spent your late teens and early twenties farming hard, learning a trade, making your barn, establishing yourself. By 25-28, you found a woman 17-21 to settle down with. That means very few men her age could provide for her and children to come. In this modern age, you still want a woman to go for a struggling guy, who is broke like herself? For what? Nobody knows tomorrow, that's true, but go and hustle and be able to take care of somebody first before looking for woman to marry. |
Lilimax:Abegi. Go to USA, UK, Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands, South Africa. They have their own pickpockets, scam artists, crooked taxi drivers, drug dealers, and people that will insert drugs into your drink then charge up your credit card and steal your cash. It happens daily all over the world... just because one person got robbed doesn't mean all of us are guilty. From what I can tell, she shared personal details and was not as discrete as she could be. You think she can flaunt all that money in South Africa? Or you can go around New York showing off your cash and being indiscrete? 50cent (in his former life before rap) and co would rob you blind before you knew what happend. Their own is worst. I hear some people install flame throwers and sharp objects underneath cars to deter armed robbers. Wasn't it in Paris Kim K was dispossessed at gunpoint? It was high profile so it made the news, but that is regular occurrence in the city of lights. Not justifying what the guy did, but to turn it into Nigeria-bashing is not cool, sorry |
nuelphilips1759:Yes oh... very very impressive and neat. |
Well done! I hope the traders have been relocated to someplace affordable... not one of those shops you need 20million to rent. About the flyover, even when me and my friend were trying to run across, one FRSC officer was like: "you should take the bridge, it's safer". I actually felt very proud of Uncle Willie. ![]() |
WTF? Who writes these news articles? He was granted bail; he rejected it; he didn't reject it... was he even granted bail sef? Don't know what to believe anymore. |
Iseddy:I don't really suggest involving family or friends (honest or not): at best, they won't have the same level of passion and understanding of the business as the OP. At worst, money has a funny way of changing people, and you'll soon find them chopping your money (afterall, they are the ones doing all the work). |
I have the same dilemma: business while working to feed the family. My advice is build the hostel, then use the rent from it to fund your business, small small. At least, you will always have the hostel even if the idea (like many businesses) fails. You can also use it as collateral to get a loan to expand your business once you have proven to yourself that the business works. It might take a bit longer, but it's frankly the least risky of the options. I also think you should keep your full time job; you just simply stop having a social life so you can grow your biz. ![]() This is what I'm also doing: I have managed to build a very small hostel, I'm using the proceeds for business; the hostel is also collateral so a bank takes me seriously; and I have a full time job. Family members or friends, trusted or not, will not run your business as well as you can, and you will spend so much time managing them and getting status updates that you might as well do it yourself. Not to talk of the ones that will just eat your money as if it is their own business. Also, hiring somebody while your business is so young and untested is going to increase the chances of it failing. Do you have any holiday time coming (like up to 2-3 weeks) so you can spend them on your idea? Can you run your business on the weekends, to test it for viability? Good luck |
maclatunji:I am. Not putting down any other part of the country called Nigeria, but let's be honest: you take the wealth, hard work, high-achieving, inventive, egalitarian spirit and can-do attitude of the Igbo people and concentrate it on the Biafra geographical area... if we harness our brainpower and resources, you'll witness the birth of a first-world country in Africa. As long as we can still trade and bank with the rest of Nigeria ![]() It won't be a perfect country, but I can imagine it would be miles ahead of what we have now. The unfortunate truth is that Northern Nigeria and Niger have far more in common, than with Biafra in so many ways. Mods: pls I'm not agitating or whatever, just trying to make an informed post |
I'm just thinking of the cost of all these makeup stuffs. Somebori will wear #300 pancake for face everyday, and then remove it every night. But sha, the pancake brings the boys to the yard and pays the bills |
quentin06:You can recruit somebody who went to the best school, has all kinds of letters of recommendation, and yet steals from you the second you put them in a position of trust. |
I smell bullcrap. First time visitor to Naija... and you don't have people picking you up? You have 1M in cash, and you're taking picture of it inside car? Did he rob you at gunpoint or tell you to get out of the car? Your luggage nko? If true, sorry ehn... and thank you for contributing to our local economy, at least beer and olosho go plenti this week ![]() |
Did sombori say 500k for visa? Then another 250k for flight. Then another 250k for misc expenses (transport, food). Amounting to 1M just to go to UK? If you have 1M, won't you start business? |
gbegemaster:That's just being smart. Plus Nigerians add so much more to the UK economy. It's quite amazing really... we sell our oil relatively cheaply, then turn around and buy their expensive luxury goods. We're real idiots. |
This song, is just awful. ![]() *struts out of thread* |
forgiveness:Banks are not in the business of investing. The only reason they give loans is that there is a sure return, and are given to businesses that have already proven themselves. Investments, are for companies that may have a promising idea, but really have not been tested. Investors/entrepreneurs/venture capitalists are the ones who should be investing, not banks. If gov't wants to stimulate business, it should guarantee loans, give away grants to start businesses, and create a conducive environment - as done by governments worldwide. |

wellmax:Parked in the same place? Look at the wall and tiles |
HungerBAD:Which guys? The names quoted are very similar to the names you'll have in Biafra, and this act was carried out in the same territory too... so I'm not sure what the difference will be. They should be punished tho... |
Yeah... that's London mate... look at: - plates on the two other cars - the style of the cars - the trees and and the houses masked by the trees - the tarred parking lot (our are usually stone tiled or gray concrete) |
pazienza:You are right. But what has stopped Igboland from being the economic powerhouse of Nigeria? Why hasn't it developed to the level where there's no reason to migrate to Lagos (or China)? Igbos talk of marginalization, but it's the same Igbo leaders that have (like all Nigerian elites), pocketed funds meant for the public good. Is it these same leaders that will suddenly make Biafra a great country? If one cannot manage a state and make it great, how will one be able to manage an entire nation? |
EgunMogaji:Except unlike those places, we are in the tropics with high humidity and rain that will ruin those walls. You need a roof overhang that throws water away from the wall, preventing water from hitting the top of the wall and seeping through. I suppose with a water tight seal on top and for the first foot, it can be done. You also need a lot of space between ceiling and roof to deal with the high heat and humidity. We also used to have small holes in the wall just before the roof to circulate air, and it would help to have a whole-house fan to pull out hot air. Look at other tropical countries: Jamaica, Thailand, and you'll see roofing more similar to ours. When I built recently with a flat roof, I left a gap of 1m between ceiling and roof, and then made small holes on two sides of the wall to help with air circulation. I plan to put a fan up there too. In that space we have some equipment as well as the tanker style water tank (which sits right above the bathroom so spills will drain into the shower area) |
UncleJJ:The trouble is, with cheaper state, comes cheaper salary and less job opportunities... |
There really is no point to have yet another levy... I think 2 simple tax regimes VAT in sales, and tax on income should suffice. This levy is really another tax in disguise that will gradually make the tax situation more complicated than it needs to be, leading to various ways of siphoning off money. |
hisgrace090:It has reached an equilibrium: there's actually more demand now since the people who stopped demanding for it when it was expensive postponed their purchases. Without the injection, prices would have been much higher by now, so the fact it is my going down like before does not mean the policy is not working |
A whole Oba? Kidnapper ppl better respect ya self oh. Una no dey fear traditions again? |
That's how you bloggers will start fight between them and break relationship. I can imagine them fighting over why this one posted which picture. Abeg let them be, you don't have to whip up news for your traffic. Smh |
fr3do:Tee hee... Oge and her picture-stealing ways ;-) |
"Identify" does not mean "publicly disclose." In other words, they may know who, but don't have to tell you, according to my interpretation |
