pedel:No matter the stupid statement from a politician, we will still have some morons that will SUPPORT them. |
Real SAN vs Political SAN |
Hmmm, who is telling the truth? Such a weighty allegation! |
One of the best polytechnics in Nigeria. Greatest Lasposians!!!! |
This is the beginning of failure. Secretary to the state govt and chief of staff have more and greater responsibilities than Deputy governor. The Nigerian constitution does not give VP and deputy governors the responsibilities to use their skills effectively. This may end up as another Tinubu/Pedro saga |
darfay:Please don't be irritated, it is normal for every student and alumnus to be proud of their institution. But some are very arrogant about it. Just look away! |
They know Sowore cannot be tamed! This is an indication that both Fela Durotoye and Kingsley Moghalu are no threat to the APC and PDP. Sowore has been an activist before these ones, he knows what to say to get the Nigerian youth connected. This will be the greatest corruption ever in the Media. On what criteria do they select these candidates? Sowore's inclusion is a MUST. I would prefer Sowore to represent me than Fela Durotoye in a political debate. |
For those crying over edited pictures. Kindly take pictures of your own institutions too and edit. One thing we can take away is that these pictures will definitely increase the image of UNILAG internationally. This is a good way to brand. Unilag has done a good job! Those shouting OAU is better; ABU is better. Take up the challenge and post your edited pictures. Otherwise, keep silent and appreciate good thing. |
This is a good strategy. Especially if the pay makes sense. |
Ok |

- Our reason is simple, the APC led State Government has been feeding fat on us from the Lekki toll fee. - We are done with APC, Lekki traffic jam is one of the worst in Nigeria! A coalition of 27 different Groups and Professionals living in Eti-Osa have vowed to campaign massively for the Governorship candidate of PDP. The spokesman for the Groups Dr. Muyideen Balogun said the decision was motivated by the facts that the state government is only monetising Eti-Osa residents. They believe everyone in Lekki is rich and so they monetised everything. You can't drive from Vitoria Island to Lekki without coughing out some money. You can't buy land without huge exorbitant fees. All the APC elected officials are not doing anything for us. They have enjoyed our support and silence for long but now is the time to act. If it were possible to tax our water, they would have done that. That is why we are rooting for Jimi Agbaje of PDP. We understand that LCC and Tinubu are in partnership to milk Lagos us dry but we will not allow that. The Lekki-Epe expressway was started by the Lateef Jakande administration and completed up to Eleko junction. Subsequent administrations extended the road to Epe long before the inauguration of the Tinubu administration in 1999. It is an existing toll free highway constructed with public funds (tax payers money in action). This dual carriage way (up to Eleko junction) is an arterial lifeline to the coastal communities on both sides of the road. It is the only highway available to these communities with no alternative routes. This highway has also succeeded in opening up the Lekki corridor. It laid the foundation of the bumper harvest Lagos State Government has been reaping for the past 10 years through sundry property and development charges. It should be stated that there was no noticeable improvement to this highway throughout the 8 years of Tinibu administration. The road is a dual carriage way up to and a little after Eleko beach junction. Like most other roads in Lagos, it has its own traffic snag points – especially at Ajah junction and the 3 round-abouts. The traffic snags are not such that cannot be surmounted with proper traffic management. This very important road has now been given to Lekki Concession Company Limited by the Lagos State Government (specifically by the Tinubu administration in 2006) on a concession basis for a period of 30 years. Lekki Concession Company is a hurriedly contrived company established to oversee the Lekki Toll Concession. Public Private Partnership (PPP) is now one of the means used by government to provide basic infrastructure like roads, ports, rail etc for citizens. It allows the private sector (concessionaire) to participate in the provision of public infrastructure by investing its resources and expertise in return for some profit. PPP is not however a carte blanche as the people cannot be left at the mercy of enterpreneurs whose sole motive is maximization of profits. PPP is governed by some established principles aimed at preventing the exploitation of the public. One of these is that an alternative toll-free road must be available for road users. This is a sine qua non and is equally commonsensical. With no alternative toll-free road for road users, a monopoly is created and road users are at the mercy of the concessionaire. Certain road users may wish to forgo the advantage of a tolled road and use alternative toll free road. In the instant case, road users would have no other choice but to pass through a tolled road. The Lekki/Epe concession violates this fundamental principle of road concession. This principle is the same in Latin America, Canada, the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. All road users going to Lekki from Victoria Island or residents of local communities along the Lekki corridor intending to go Epe or Victoria Island would have no other choice but to pass through this road and pay tolls at 3 locations (km3, km13 and km23). Only emergency vehicles like ambulances would be exempted from toll payments. Every other vehicle would pay. That government would allow this to happen is unfathomable. This is more so because the Lekki/Epe expressway is not a newly constructed road. It is an existing road. Lagos State Government owes Lagosians the obligation of not reducing the number of non-tolled roads existing in the State. Fair is fair, if any existing road must be tolled, it should be additional lanes constructed on such existing roads. In fact the concession of the Lekki/Epe expressway seems to have been done in bad faith. And with no regard for the welfare and interest of general road users and the communities along the Lekki corridor. Why? A proposed coastal road, running almost parallel to the Lekki/Epe expreway has been on the drawing board for sometime now. The alignment of the proposed road has been mapped out. Property owners affected by this alignment have been notified and many have been refused planning approval because the alignment of the proposed coastal road would likely affect their properties. It is the proposed coastal road that should have been given out on concession through PPP. Doing this would have given birth to a new infrastructure and added more value to the Lekki Peninsula. It would have been perfectly legal, morally and economically right to toll such a road, as the existing Lekki/Epe express road would have served as an alternative route. The concession of the Lekki/Epe express road also violates the principle of value for money. How? This is a dual carriage way built with public fund. The road today is worth billions of naira, especially the deck and the bridge portion at the Epe end. This public asset has now been given to a private company for 30 years. What value is the company required to add to this road? In the words of the company “in general the first 6km of the road will be expanded to 6 lanes, although in some areas such as where additional turning lanes are provided, the road width will actually be more that 6 lanes. The road from 6km to 23km will be a combination of 4 to 6 lanes…..Beyond km 23 the road will remain 4 lanes”. In essence the concessionaire is only majorly adding a single lane to each of the dual carriage ways and some lay byes and turning points. Practically government is handing over a 70+km dual carriage way (a 4-lane road) to a private company for 30 years in exchange for the construction of 2 additional lanes of maximum length of 23km. For the construction of these 2 additional lanes, the company owns the entire road for 30 years, collecting toll at 3 points between km3 and km23, with no alternative route available to road users. But then certain questions must be asked – 1. Did Lagos State Government make a valuation of the Lekki/Epe expressway before giving it out on a 30-year concession? 2. If so, what was the value of the road when the concession agreement was signed and what is the value to be added by the concessionaire to justify a 30-year concession period during which the concessionaire would practically own the road? 3. Who are the promoters and directors of Lekki Concession Company Limited, Larue Projects International Limited and Hightech Construction Limited? 4. Why give out the only existing road on the Lekki corridor on concession instead of the proposed coastal road? Getting answers to these questions may unearth the reasons why the whole transaction leading to the concession was done clandestinely. There was no public hearing allowing different stakeholders to have input. It is now the concessionaire is holding post construction meetings – informing property owners they would be fenced off the road, where they are lucky not have their properties completely demolished, trying to foist a fait accompli on them. This road belongs to the people of Lagos State and no concession should have been given on it without affording them the opportunity to review, question and comment upon it. This would have led to full disclosure of the concession’s terms and its related contracts. The concession as presently packaged has no commitment to transparency. The EFFC may need to look into the whole concession transaction. The concession constitutes an economic crime against the people of Lagos State.

Buterflyle0:Kindly hear yourself out. Why blaming the FG for the work that should be done by a state govt? Can you tell us why FG should focus on a local govt when the state can handle it? Epe was abandan by AD, AC, ACN and APC...period. It has nothing to do with PDP. If all local govt are calling on FG, then what do we have state govt for? |
This is a great development. That was how canned food came to be back in those days. The US researchers made Canned food for their soldiers. I hope the meal will be safe and maintain its quality before consumption |

How can Gov Ambode say PDP has not done anything in Epe for 16 years. Is it not the same APC that has been ruling Lagos. Simply put APC has abandon Epe for 16 years. Let's give Jimmy Agbaje a chance! It will be a healthy competition. Whichever party rules Lagos will always want to perform in order to remain the ruling party. |

helinues:Tinubu is s traitor Remember he campaigned for Nuhu Ribadu.....but few hours to election day, he was flown to Aso Rock to meet with Jonathan who gave him an alleged large sum. Tinubu is a political businessman, Atiku can still buy him at the eleventh hour. No serious politician will ever trust Tinubu. He always go for the highest bidder or whoever will give him the biggest share. Ambode tried to reduce Tinubu's share in Lagos, that's why he was resisted. Sanwo-olu has promised to fulfill and increase Tinubu's share, that's why he is backing him. |
The body language of the National leader of APC, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards the reelection of President Muhammad Buhari is unconvincing. Could he be planning another Ribadu treatment as a payback for the treatment meted to him by the Presidency after the victory of 2015 election? Note that the frontline leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, at the weekend confessed he betrayed his own candidate for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2011 presidential contest. Bola Ahmed Tinubu In that contest, Mr. Jonathan was in competition with General Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress for Political Change, but also with Nuhu Ribadu, the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, who was the flagbearer of Tinubu’s Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Curiously, while the candidates of the ACN did very well in the legislative and gubernatorial elections, Ribadu was trounced in all but one of the ACN States by Mr. Jonathan. Observers have always suspected that Tinubu, who was known to have flown to Abuja to meet with the president just before the election, was bought off to give victory to Jonathan in the area. Speaking at Onikan Stadium during an Ndigbo APC governorship rally on Saturday, Tinubu appeared to confirm those suspicions. "In 2011, I helped Jonathan become President because he made us believe he was a breath of fresh air,” the APC boss said. “I didn't say because he was from Bayelsa that I would not help him. We voted for him because he promised to make our lives better. But now, he has failed us." In the speech, Tinubu appeared to have forgotten he did not belong to Jonathan’s Peoples Democratic Party in 2011, and that he had a candidate in the race that was not told ACN was voting for Jonathan. Ribadu campaigned on the ACN platform until the end. |
Lagos students occupy State House over non-payment of scholarship and bursary The National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS) on Wednesday, December 5 staged a peaceful protest to Governor’s Office (Lagos House), Ikeja over the unexplained delay in payment of 2016, 2017 and 2018 bursary and local scholarship to beneficiaries and awardees. The beneficiaries are students of Lagos-origin in various higher institutions of learning in Nigeria and overseas. Paying bursaries to these set of students has been a long-time tradition of state and it dated back to 1980 when the scheme was initiated by Lateef Jakande administration. Subsequent administrations in the state have kept this scheme and considered it a noble one. It would be recalled that the students had threatened to embark on social disturbance over the non-payment of their bursary for the 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/18 academic sessions. According to NULASS, Governor Ambode announced on October 16, 2018, that his administration had released a sum of N683 million for payment of bursary, local and foreign scholarship to students of Lagos-origin across Nigeria and overseas. This fund is expected to cover payments for arrears of bursaries and scholarships. Fifty-two (52) days after this announcement the students claimed they are yet to receive any payment from the government. “It is with burning, melting, and embittered hearth that the apex body of the only Indigenous Students of Lagos State origin – National Union of Lagos State Students’ (NULASS), which comprises of the five divisions of the state (Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island and Epe) rise on our feet’s to express our pains and pour our grievances on the lackadaisical and ungodly attitude of the state government towards the indigenous students. “The government has turned deaf ears to the yearnings and chants on the urgent need to roll-out payment of the bursary and local scholarship awards.” “It is sardonic, lugubrious and a show of state of dismay that the Lagos state government can be so toiling, deceitful and scamming the populace by using the media to trick over 6.2 million students of Lagos-origin on bursary and local scholarships. The Lagos state government on 16th of October, 2018 falsely announced to the release of the sum of N683 million for payment of bursary, local and foreign scholarships.” The Lagos State Scholarship Board (LSSB) hinted that its accounts are yet to be credited with the stated fund for onward disbursement to beneficiaries. The Lagos state government response The protesting students were addressed by the officials of the government including the State Accountant General, Special Adviser to the Governor on Education Mr Obafela Bank- Olemoh, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Executive Secretary of LSSB among others. According to Mr Ojoare Balaji, NULASS President LASU Chapter: “The government has assured us that our voices have been heard and promised to pay as soon as possible. There is no time frame for this promised payment.” Based on this, the body extended the ultimatum till Friday, December 7.

justfash50:Why compare Lagos with Nigeria when you can compare Lagos with Johannesburg, London, Madrid and other great cities in the world. Yes, you're right with the name. Sanwo Olu to Sanwo-Eko to Tinubu (Meaning Sanwo-Olu will pay Lagos tax payers money to Tinubu) We Lagosians want a Governor not a stooge. |
mezarddinny:Are you for real? There were better defenders back then than now. Just recently, which present defenders can match these ones: Cafu, Hierro, Maldini, Nesta, Stam, Roberto Carlos, Thuram to mention but a few. |
I will remember him as a man who has the will but no power! |
Afamed:How does that affect your life? Is his private business your business? Did he embezzle public fund? I see you have nothing substantial to critic about him. Sanwo-Tinubu has been part of the rot in Lagos since 15 years ago. Let him account for his stewardship. |
Nice one! This is called Issue-based campaign For those who have been begging JK to speak up and campaign JK has finally launched....Sanwo-Tinubu has gone to hiding place. |
bantudra:Why bring easterners into this? Must every thing be based on tribal biases. For the records I'm not an Easterner and I don't have anything against them. |

The Current Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) was loved by many people as a VP to President Buhari in the 2015 election. Part of the reasons are that he is said to be a SAN and a Professor of Law, a Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and because he has a tie with the Awolowo's family. Fast forward to 2018, fellow Nigerians, what will you remember this pastor and professor for, if he leaves office today |
