ogugua88: You can't blame me sha. I remember how I was crushed in 2000. Jaw was hanging for days. I only trust my vote lol.

I'm watching MSNBC now. Martin Bashir is calming my nerves. When you start listing Romney's offenses, the sky seems a lot brighter lol.
I perfectly understand your reservations. lol

ogugua88: Most people aren't talking about Lagos and Abuja. This thread never jam. Wait until polls start closing and winners are announced, most especially if aforementioned polling issues start affecting Obama's chances. You go know say khaki no be leather.
Gracious Mary! What is that you are hinting at Ogu? Paranoia? I hope not, cos this really is not the time to get paranoid!
Keep the faith Sis.

When Obama eventually wins this election, he will have won it partly due to the Bill Clinton Effect. Particularly, that Bill Clinton speech at the DNC remains priceless! That speech gave much needed impetus to a jaded campaign.

Nelson Mandela banknotes issued in South Africa
https://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02390/nel_2390063e.jpg
The first banknotes featuring the face of Nelson Mandela have gone into circulation in South Africa.

They are the first South African notes to bear the image of a black person - they replace notes with wild animals and rural and industrial scenes.

President Jacob Zuma says the banknotes were a "humble gesture" to express South Africa's "deep gratitude".

Mr Mandela, 94, is one of the world's best loved figures after spending 27 years in prison for fighting apartheid.

Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus was the first to use the new banknotes when she spent 160 rand, about $18 (£12) on some nuts, beetroot, a watermelon and a cucumber at her local shop in the capital, Pretoria.

She said that Mr Mandela was delighted with the design.

She also noted that South Africa tries to update its currency every seven years for security reasons. The new design includes watermarks and a metal strip, while raised printing was added to assist the visually impaired.

Mr Mandela's face is on one side of all the new banknotes, while the "Big Five" animals - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant - remain on the reverse.

He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his campaign against white minority rule and was elected president the following year before stepping down after a single term.

Known affectionately by his clan name "Madiba", he has now retired from public life.

Nashville: Obama does not need FL to win. He can even win without FL, VA and OH. But Romney has to win at least two of the three. I honestly do not see how Romney will win this one. He has a chance of winning the popular votes (although I think not) but I just cant see how he will win the electoral college. Even Fox news isn't as optimistic. I predict a 290 - 248 win for Obama.

Obama will win PA, VA, NH, CO, IA. That should be enough. He doesn't need Florida and Ohio. And forget that the polls are close. Most of those polls survey older people with land lines. A vast number of Obama voters are young people and minorities who haven't always voted so they are usually not part of the polls.

Most polls predicted a much closer race in 2008 as well but Obama won 365 - 173. I wouldn't be surprised if Obama gets 300 electoral votes
Very well said.
I was only stating that it's by no means a certainty that Florida is going Romney's way.
P.S. Personally, I've never believed in opinion polls!
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Vs Mitt Romney : Election Night Thread by nitlad: 10:32am On Nov 06, 2012
ogugua88: Romney's leading in Florida, so I'll assume he takes it for now lol. I don't even know the population or demographics of Jacksonville. Big cities tend to swing democratic though as they're usually saturated with educated folk.
Then get ready to be surprised when Florida inevitably goes Obama! Lol
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Vs Mitt Romney : Election Night Thread by nitlad: 10:28am On Nov 06, 2012
ogugua88: I hope so. My fingers are crossed lol. I can't wait for Wednesday. Anxiety has been killing me for too long.
Be rest assured Missy.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Vs Mitt Romney : Election Night Thread by nitlad: 10:22am On Nov 06, 2012
ogugua88: I wouldn't be surprised if we don't know the outcome until early Wednesday morning. Every single vote in Ohio would have to be counted before we have an idea, assuming that Obama takes Pennsylvania again and Romney takes Florida.
Don't be mistaken Missy.
Darn! Why do folks think Florida will go GOP?!
Well FYI, Florida is not up for grabs. Its stamped Obama! Thanks to Jacksonville that's tilting Florida Obama's way.
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Vs Mitt Romney : Election Night Thread by nitlad: 9:26am On Nov 06, 2012
ogugua88: Lmao I dey your back. It comes down to Ohio. I have family out there and have instructed them wella cool

Lol. My fear is long lines. Their voting procedures are comparable to that of 1980. Imagine that for early voting, there was only one polling place per COUNTY. I couldn't figure out why their lines were miles long, until CNN elaborated. That's nonsense.
That's not gon' be a problem. The will is so strong that even having to line up for spells is not gon' break it. Lol
Foreign Affairs › Re: Barack Obama Vs Mitt Romney : Election Night Thread by nitlad: 9:14am On Nov 06, 2012
That the election is this close despite Romney's infamous antecedents is beyond me.
Anyways, Obama is nicking this!
Once again OHIO is deciding this election!
Ogugua take note! lol

shymexx: Lmao... I know Nigerians are cowardly, that was why I suggested a Gaddafi-esque dictator, or A Jerry Rawlings...

With the current system of government we've and the people knee-deep in the system/power brokers - even Jesus would have a difficult time ruling Nigeria... grin And the people are not bothered as long as it's someone from their tribe that's in charge, to be honest...
lol
I'm not actually sure about Gaddafi, but I'm definitely certain about someone in the esque of Fidel Castro, or someone who can whip Nigerians into order à la the little North Korean fellas. grin
Politics › Re: Who Is Capable Of Leading Nigeria Now?: Your Opinion by nitlad: 7:31pm On Nov 05, 2012
shymexx: I agree... However, if you're going to go back to that - have we been able to ameliorate the reasons why the first republic failed? Our founding fathers were all tribalists, and the country was built on a shaky foundation - that was why the first republic failed! (The video is on NL)...

We need to solve that first, and secondly, get rid of all the present corrupt elites in our midst - before we can start thinking about anything else...
And how do you suggest we do that bloke? Revolution? Not gon' happen in this clime. Folks here are too cowardly and feeble to step on it and do what needs to be done! They'll just cower in at the first sight of an APC. The January #SubsidyProtests buttress my point.

shymexx: Damn! - look at the crowd viewing this topic... Bwahahahahaha... It seems Nigerians have the yanks' nuts super-glued to their mouths... The term "Anti-Christ" has to be the most overused word in the world, apart from Devil/Satan - it's just sickening...

Honestly, why do Nigerians suck on yank's nuts so hard, though? You have got everything going the opposite direction in your country, yet you're fixated on what the next man is doing - what a useless country Nigeria is...

Femi Fani Kayode has proven over and over again that being an alumni grin of one of the top-10 unis in the world doesn't equate to intelligence... I still can't believe this guy graduated from the prestigious Cambridge University(Pembroke College)...

With
the upcoming holiday shopping
season right around the corner, coupled with the healthy drop of the
handset’s price in some major
markets, it is all but guaranteed that
the number will increase even further,
thus cementing the position of the
device as the go-to top shelf Android smartphone these days.

Foreign Affairs › Gunmen Occupy Libyan Parliament by nitlad(op): 7:28pm On Nov 01, 2012
1 November 2012 Last updated at 17:28
Dozens of gunmen have occupied
Libya's parliament to register their
anger over the formation of the
new government.

The militiamen are demanding some of
the ministers be removed because
they have links to the late Muammar
Gaddafi's regime. At least a dozen trucks mounted with
anti-aircraft guns are lining the main
road to the parliament. Libya held a peaceful election in July
and finally agreed the composition of
a government on Wednesday. Prime Minister Ali Zidan gained the
support of the National Congress for
his choice of ministers. His list included liberal figures and
Islamists in an attempt to forge a
coalition acceptable to all parties. But negotiations were disrupted by
protests earlier this week. And late on Wednesday gunmen
broke through security and occupied
the Congress building.
'Gaddafi ties'
The BBC's Rana Jawad, in Tripoli, says
some of the gunmen are dressed in
scruffy army fatigues and others in
civilian clothes. She says some are from the western
city of Misrata and others are from
Tripoli, and few are willing to talk to
the media. "Some of them have had long ties with
Gaddafi, we don't want them," a
militiaman dressed in civilian clothes
told the BBC. Presidential guards are stationed in
the Congress complex and have been
ordered not to fight with the men. The militiamen are believed to be in
talks with politicians to resolve the
stand-off. Despite largely peaceful elections in
July, Libya's transition continues to be
affected by instability. Reining in the different militia and
trying to integrate them into a single
national army will be one of the
biggest challenges for any new
government, analysts say. The new government has
representatives from the two most
prominent blocs in Congress - the
Alliance of National Forces led by
liberal former Prime Minister Mahmoud
Jibril, and the Muslim Brotherhood's Justice and Construction Party. Mr Zidan said he had tried to strike a
balance between Libya's different
regions in making the appointments. According to his list, the defence and
interior ministries would be headed by
ministers from the eastern city of
Benghazi, considered to be the cradle
of last year's revolution that ended
Gaddafi's rule. Two women are also among the
ministers proposed by Mr Zidan.
