Leyqute: LOL. So you're a pigeon delicately perched on Daniel Levy's office's windowsill , eavesdropping energetically on transfer news and everything else Maybe he isn't completely right, but anything Man Utd makes it to the papers easily and almost immediately. Other clubs close deals with less noise and buzz, so it's possible that Tottenham are trying sell their useless players as we speak. But eh, Ole no dey try sha, Rojo is not an important player, but he went ahead and told the guy that he is in his plans, Mata too will be here for say another one or two years. The signings we have made are completely below expectations, why average British players? What is he trying to achieve? He shouldn't tell us that we have issues attracting players. Even if we want to sign unknown players, go to South America or even other climes within Europe, I don't get the obsession with british players. Everything is not making sense as we speak. I hope my fears and/or assertions are not real, for the sake of the club because we are seriously in deep sh1t, and it may take some years to get out, we seem to be sinking more and more. Hoping the best sha! |

Jejebabaa: Thanks boss for this info. I will note this down and put it in my plans. No be my fault that i am trying to be over careful, its because of so many dependants that i have and need to support monthly while also struggling for my own financial goals. Some may balme me while i am supporting people, its because i was also supported by a maternal uncle right from JS2 up to Msc level abroad. So i have to also give back to others. Btw is the 120k CAD gross or net as you know in Middle East, gross is net as we don't pay tax. That's net Bro. I kid you not! I have guys working with firms located on Bay Street taking home 250cad annually. Everything is about strategy and maybe some element of luck. Middle East is not a bad place, but that region does not have the soul I really need to see, moreso, it's tough to become a PR. I know UAE won't even try it, except you have HUGE investments. And I agree with you on the 'give back' stuff, very important! |

Jejebabaa: I know but looking at the risk/rewards it doesn't make sense yet when i see the rate at which IOC's are pulling out/ divesting from Canada tar sands and the rate at which some of my friends living in Nisku and Alberta are planning to come to Middle East to take up jobs. I had to have a rethink ooo.A senior friend had to leave USA to take up a job in Middle East for half salary of what he used to earn in Texas before losing his job. He had no option than to take the job because he was about losing his mortage house when he ran out of funds. A friend was out of job for almost a year and half in Nisku and was shocked when he told me he is ready to come to Oman to take up a net pay of 5,000 USD monthly as a drilling Engineer, this is a salary i cant even take despite the guy having more oil and gas experience than me. I have made up my mind to zero my mind off oil and gas jobs if i will be migrating to Canada. You have a point though, ready to go back to school? Adopt this tactic, go get an MBA from a top school in Canada (say Rotman or Ivey), then switch to Investment Banking or Asset Management, post MBA. Finance is fvcking rewarding in North America, guys in that space (post MBA) take home minimum of 120 cad (excluding Bonus). Mind you, a top MBA is very important! |

Jejebabaa: Oga, if i have to be honest with you. I will advise you forget about oil and gas jobs for now and switch to other career /sector as long as this pipeline crisis is still going on in Canada if you are interested in migrating to Canada. Imagine WCS dropped to as low as $8 last year but thank God its now around $45 though still at a discount to WTI. Its because of this oil and gas job prospects situation i have been statlling in migrating to Canada because i have been finding it difficult to let go of a job with net salary of $110k CAD equivalent in Middle East as a Petroleum Engineer and migrate to Canny land with my family. Hopefully, if i can achieve my financial goals asap i can revisit this Canny stuffs. Please kindly do your due diligence and i believe other ogas in this thread can add their input. Hehe, so you are looking for a 110k Cad net pay before you move to Canada? OYO Comparing apples and oranges, what middle East gives is completely different from what Canada will give you. It's not everything that you quantify. Brah, benefits of moving outweigh 10-30k cad difference. FYI, some of us in the same middle East have our net pay above that figure you want, but, yeah, we are ready to move. Personally, I think one can hit above that amount overtime, and at the same time get other benefits that you can't really quantify. |

afrodoc2: You too sabi book. Haha, for where? Meanwhile, Woodward will still be around for some time sha. For those clamouring for him to leave. Issue is, he led the team that assisted the Glazers with the takeover in 2005. Also helped restructure the huge debt in 2010. These guys have turned the club to something else, and have made/are still making a lot of money. Even the three Hedge Fund firms that gave them the loan in 2005 made a lot of money from the restructuring in 2010. I admire those guys, but then they shouldn't have done this shyte to Man Utd. So not good. They are opportunists and sharks that really don't care about how the engine is faring, they just want it to continue to roll. When they have finished everything, they will discard (by getting the same JP Morgan or another top bank to help sell at a very high price) and move on. The question is 'when are they going to?' Quite unfortunate! Nb: Anyone interested in high finance should pick up the book titled 'Barbarians at the gate, the fall of RJR Nabisco', it has details of how these guys operate and deal with big companies. I am sure some journalists are monitoring events post 'the Glazers takeover of Man Utd', as soon as they leave, I will be more than happy to know the details of every step they took. |

afrodoc2: To break it down for people, the Glazers bought Man United with a loan which they now put on the shoulders of the club to pay back. In essence they used Man Utd money to buy Man Utd. To add to that the club regularly pays them money for “consultancy services”. Yeah, don't mind me, tried to break it down, but 'language of finance' kee me there. Thanks. |

chidexxy007: Who bought which club with their own money?
How did the debt the club is still servicing till date come about? It was a Leveraged Buy Out, where you take majority ownership in an entity by contributing only about 10-20 percent of total capital required to purchase, and using the same entity to raise debt to fund the remaining 80-90 percent. Essentially, at the time of buying man Utd, the business was making a lot of money that they could afford to use the same entity to take a huge loan which was used to pay up to 80 percent of purchase price. |
