zoedew:He shouldnt have to change platform. The fact that you think he should shows everything that is wrong with Nigerian politics... The fact that you accept such a situation, shows that your thinking is part of the problem.. |
abbey621:KL Malaysia 17,310 people per square mile Lagos Nigeria 17,800 per square mile Not much in it.. And Sao Paulo is bigger and more dense than Lagos.. Nigerians and excuses.. My people I weep for thee |
BabaRamota1980:Why should he, the fact that he needs to cross over shows lagos politics is corrupt... Yeye country.. Mtcheww |
femtex007:My family left Naija and I live in London. Visiting Naija every year and crying when I realise how little things have improved.. |
nickxtra:Cities in Nigeria?? Thats not hard to do, the worst cities in countries like Vietnam or Lebanon are ahead of Nigerian cities even lagos.. We dont have one city in this country that compares to any of the greatest cities in the world.. Malaysians have Kuala Lumpur that can be compared to any major cities.. Sao Paolo in Brazil looks like New York in many parts.. The above are developing countries.. Stop making excuses Jare... |
NOETHNICITY:Then pay more attention to possible choices.. I cant help you if you willfully remain ignorant.. Mtcheww |
guinea1:You obviously havent travelled much.. From Sao Paulo to Addis Ababa in Eithiopia, they all have proper underground systems. Yet you want to compare them to buses...?? Pipe borne water is water of drinkable quality from a centralised source, not me digging my own bore hole.. Who cares about whether power is Nigeria wide issue.. Ambode and Fash largely did nothing to resolve the problem in Lagos. Why didnt they form a state owned power company and bid for the private power contract and fix the problem directly? They dont have the vision or ability thats why... From old cities like London to newer ones like New York, Dubai, Singapore and Shanghai constant power is a given.. Yet here you sit making excuses... Uber and Taxify are foreign companies, the money they make is instantly sent abroad.. By and large not one Naija brain cell was involved in their creation.. Nigerians love mediocrity and make excuses for it all the time.. |
nickxtra:No power, no clean pipe borne water, no modern sewers and no decent public transport... I would say they are in prison... |
I said it before and I will say it again, Nigerians are their own worst enemies.. How anyone could pick Sanwo-Olu over Gbadamosi finishes me... Sanwo could barely string a sentence together in the TV debate and people still voted for him.... Lagos hasnt had a decent governor since Fashola, Gbadamosi was our chance.. Mtcheww Nigeria |
Also in a lot of well run countries you cant just setup street stalls wherever you like.. Rightly or Wrongly this Chinese thai wanted to put an end to the beginning of this practice... Why sell meatpies, why not setup a website or something tech related.. Nigerians/Africans and low hanging fruit... |
faithfull18:Blame you countrymen for choosing bad leaders.. Out of choice between Buhari (useless) , Atiku ( thief ) and Sowore (real change) they chose Buhari.. Nigerians deserve their country.. |
franchasng:Thank you bros.. I have said the same thing in a number of posts.. I am half Yoruba and half Igbo. I know our two peoples can get along.. |
I dont give a damn what this fool says... |
If Sowore doesn't win this time, he will win the next one.. |
Yes he will... |
BluntBoy:Haba SUG president, you are wicked ![]() As for abusing me for being a British Nigerian, you should consider your current presido one as well given the amount of time he has spent in the UK ![]() Pele for you in advance as most Nigerians seem set on Atiku.. |
BluntBoy:Are you 50 years old?? Cmon my brother how can you support these old men?? So you would choose the lifeless one over a thief? They are both bad.. If you are young like me Sowore is the only choice.. ![]() Sowore is ready now, if he goes through the estabished channels he may be corrupted or blocked there. Look what happened to Fashola and Donald Duke.. |
BluntBoy:Chai.. Me Atiku never... ![]() I am a Sowore man, real change jare.. Buhari and Atiku are one and the same.. Please dont tell me you are Buhari man..?? |
BluntBoy:Mtcheww and what have you achieved ![]() |
Wow, for such a critical election to be moved is unacceptable.. Nigeria which way? ![]() |
OyinO:I live in the United Kingdom you idiot... The United States is a completely different country.. I am doing fine in London. Obviously pointing out your jealousy pained you.. ![]() I am well aware of western racism. It is something you have never experienced and it hardens you and strengthens you. But if it doesnt destroy you it makes you sharper. I had to work twice as hard as any oyinbo to get and keep my job. When I tell you I know economics it is not bragging because my position was hard won. Tribalism is nothing compared to racism, where a white man will kill you just for being black. Some blacks will even undermine you just to protect their position with whites.. I know of many Naija folk who brag they are Lawyers and Doctors in the west. But they are cleaners and security guards. I am not one of them... But when I tell your stupid ass how the world really works and provide knowledge. Shut up and listen because I learnt this and succeeded with white and asian men looking over my shoulder hoping I would fail.. The fact that I am here on this forum is not borne of arrogance. It is because I care... I care about Nigeria and its people in general.. I bother to visit the country of my fore fathers out of respect. I have learned what worked for countries that broke the mould and industrialised outside of Europe. Especially the Asian ones and taking on huge debts they couldnt pay back was rarely part of the development story. In fact when the Asian crisis hit, nations like South Korean and Singapore learnt to be more cautious around debt. Even ignoring IMF and World Bank demands that they were given in return for loans. They did what was right for them, they were smart. Nigeria must be the same... I dont think you even realise how little the other nations of the world think of us. When one of you own offers you advice you reject it because of your own jealously. Mtcheww I look down on no one. You even abused Ajegunle.. Fool but for luck either you or I could have been born there. Ditto Makoko or any poor area, people in those areas are merely victims of Nigeria's failures. I have sat with the roughest area boys and walked away unharmed. Why because they know deep down I care about them and Naija.. Even though I live in Ikoyi, they sense no arrogance. Only a deep love for our people.. What I despise is ignorance and debt driven growth will not get Nigeria to where it needs to go. Only production will with better economic management.. I am wasting my time on you and your bad belle.. Pele for your struggles.. Mtcheww, If some one comes to you with a new idea and you think it sounds wrong.. Look around and see if what you are currently doing is working. Is Nigeria working? Is it? Then think again you clown.. |
BluntBoy:Agbero, I would give you one dirty slap when I get back to Naija.. ![]() I doubt you are even Nigerian? Some Ghanaian pretender.. Even worse you could be a Jubril from Sudan.. ![]() The fact you have no likes, shows that no one agrees with your stupidity ![]() |
OyinO:You need to take that chip off your shoulder... Naija people and jealously sha.. So I point out Economics is my bread and butter, that means I am showing ego... Mtcheww Mumu... Sharrap... |
BluntBoy:How many likes have you got for your posts vs me... ![]() mumu |
BluntBoy:Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt Abraham Lincoln |
OyinO:I don't know if you read my earlier posts. A lot of these folks don't know much about economics. It is all quite depressing really as it highlights why Nigeria looks the way it does. An uneducated economically illiterate population can easily be fooled. Hence why you have people arguing that debt isn't problematic The crazy thing is that the US has way more debt as a percentage of its GDP than Nigeria, but investors still regard the US as being more credit worthy than Nigeria. They still offer lower interest rates on loans to the US government than the Nigerian one and that alone tells you everything you need to know.. Every time I think of coming back to Nigeria, threads like this one remind me of why I am being naïve.. |
BluntBoy:I have tried to be reasonable with you. Your last post was all over the place.. You sir are the exact reason why Nigeria looks the way it does. You havent addressed any of my points yet you think we are debating? You state I dont understand why nations borrow, without giving your own explanation of why they do..?? You moan about moving goal posts and now you are talking about China and Japan ![]() Japan and China are relatively resource poor, they dont earn billions from merely extracting primary resources as Nigeria does.. You are a par excellence example of the product of a failed system.. You arent educated, yet you weigh in on subjects that you dont have a good grasp of.. I wont bother responding anymore. You have exhausted my patience.. |
BluntBoy:No I am asking you these questions, in an effort to get you to understand why your thinking is wrong. That sadly has proven beyond your ability.. I realise you are unfortunately not very bright, yet you think that you are.. You obviously dont know anything about credit rating agencies like Moodys, Fitch and Standard and Poors. Nor do you understand their function, that much is clear... You also do not understand how a credit rating for a nation is derived. You do not understand a credit rating can apply to a person and a nation. UK S&P rating AA US S&P rating AA+ Nigeria S&P rating B Source TradingEconomics.com This means that Nigeria needs pay more in terms of interest rates to borrow. Another reason why we shouldnt borrow unless we have exhausted all other options. Also a lower credit rating means that external bodies view Nigeria as less credit worthy than the UK or US (despite their large debts). Why? because investors are correct in knowing that the US and UK are less likely to default due to their stronger and more developed economies amongst other factors.. Finally you do understand that oil exports earn money be it indirectly via taxes and duty? Or if Nigeria had a state owned oil producer like Malaysian Petronas it would make money directly from oil sales? Nigeria makes billions from oil sales from per annum. That money does not fill national coffers due to economic mismanagement and corruption. The last estimate I saw in London revealed that 1 trillion USD of revenue had slipped through government hands since independence with little or nothing to show for it. With 1 trillion USD in revenue from Oil alone, excluding other tax paying commercial industries you SHOULDNT NEED TO BORROW!!! NO IFS NO BUTS JUST NO.. Bros, I am actually British Nigerian and I work in investment banking in London. I do this for a living and I am respected in my field.. I am doing my best not to abuse you, as a people we can only move forward if we learn to work together.. But you are trying my patience.. You dont know how to discuss complex issues and yet proudly state case closed when you havent made a valid point.. |
BluntBoy:I am done here.. I have already made points which you have ignored because you probably did not understand them... You havent exposed anything.. I will ask you again why does Nigeria have a lower credit rating than US or UK? Why is credit cheaper for the latter countries than Nigeria? With significant export earnings from the sale of oil, why does Nigeria need to borrow at all? Stating that the US or UK has significant debt is not an argument. Especially given that they are developed countries with diversified economies that still show strong overall economic growth. That growth plays into credit ratings and a lower cost of borrowing for these countries. If you can address the above questions then we can continue. Otherwise I cannot continue to argue with someone who doesnt seem to grasp basic economic concepts.. Have a good day.. |
BluntBoy:National Debt is economics.. I noticed you have avoided my main points altogether.. Two posts and you have managed to say nothing... Finally credit ratings and ability to pay your debt has nothing to do with it being written off.. You along with the other poster make me lose heart with Nigeria. You will argue until you cant draw anymore breath even when you are wrong and dont know enough about the subject matter... Bros go back to school.. |
Olawalesmarter:See the post I wrote to bluntboy re supposedly changing the subject What is your level of education? Because you do understand the macro economic profile of country including its productive industries plays a huge part in its credit rating and cost of borrowing? |
