Hidentity: There is something about actions, they can be chosen. There is something about actions taken, they birth reaction(s). There is something about reactions, they can't be chosen. In a simple language, why we can choose our action, we cannot choose the reaction.
In the history of Nigeria, it is certain that the 2015 General election would not be forgotten in a moment. While this assertion may be bought by every Nigerian, the reason may differ in the opinion of individuals. For the purpose of simplifying this analysis, individuals with a dogged determination to achieve their goals may see it as a year that unrelenting determination paid off for the retired General. For some, it was a year that paved way for the populace to speak through the ballot. In some quarters, it is the year of the emergence of their democratic hero- President Jonathan. For the last, reservations abound. I object to an attempt at making Jonathan a hero for the purpose of a soft landing. I don't know about America, but in Nigeria, no tenant becomes a hero by vacating the apartment at the expiration of his rent. However, it is a sheer waste of emotion to observe a minute of silence for a deceased whose penchant for noise while alive is insatiable.
Personally, I do not have anything against the person of President Jonathan. In fact, I like to see sons and daughters of fishermen, taxi drivers, petty traders and others on that divide of the struggle attaining the incredible heights. Nevertheless, I take offence when attaining that height drives them stupour. I also do not have anything for General Buhari, I only shared the sentiment that things must not continue in the Jonathan's way. I waited for a public event that would demand that I talk about the President of Nigeria for the whole of 2014, but I could not attend any that I was invited for. I was waiting to embarrass President Jonathan because he has embarrassed long-suffering Nigerians and Nigeria. I was waiting to be asked questions like 'who is the President of Nigeria?' or maybe to make a remark about the President of Nigeria. In my crazy moment, I would have replied that Nigeria do not have a President. To be diplomatic, but to the consternation of many, I would have replied that I do not know the President of Nigeria. I could say that anywhere, even on a quiz floor. I know nations with leaders and none is governed like ours. I do not know shadow leaders, I know leaders who are strong-willed to act irrespective of whose ox will be gored.
Like you, a couple of events that made the moment have been archived in a bid to take a hint from life. Beyond the happiness for Jonathan's loss and the fear of Buhari's possible 'tsunamic' approach to corruption, I have picked an event in the whole politicking drama- The Orubebe Saga. It does deserve a second examination after the whole dust has gone down.
Lately, I stopped concerning myself with what people do. I try to understand their reason(s) and purpose(s). In the beauty of the time-honoured aphorism in Yoruba, the myth of the dragonfly dancing on the water surface comes to mind. For the purpose of this forensic work, elder Orubebe is the dragonfly here. It is believed that attempts to allay the fear of stream goers by making the dragonfly vacate was futile. Then, after consulting the oracle, it dawned on the villagers that the dragonfly's dance of humour was not without the motivation of an unrelenting drummer deep down in the stream. In short, elder Orubebe's public display had the blessing of one or two political drummers. The question here- did elder Orubebe pause to consider his status before doing such a dirty act without gloves? I mean this is someone's father. He is someone's husband. He is an elder in a community, this is the 21st century, and we have the media everywhere!
In the execution of his assignment, elder Orubebe made a lot of inflammatory statements. To elder Orubebe, Jega was compromised, he was partial, he was used. All those did not really matter, especially when you are used to the types of statements made by Lagos bus conductors. The most sensitive statement and most crucial moment was when elder Orubebe requested Jega to 'go and reply him (Orubebe) from his office.' Jega could reply Orubebe, but it must not be from his office. Replying from his office would have been the electoral error of the millennium. Here is the reason, there is a possibility that if Jega had left the ICC for his office, the election would have been rendered inconclusive by machineries 'possibly' put in place. By then, Jega would be away from our curious glares. For 'security' purpose, he could have been prevented from continuing the process. In fact, it might take him till today to reply people like elder Orubebe because it is easy to wake a sleeping person but not a person feigning sleep.
Few days later, elder Orubebe discovered the damage his public conduct did to the Orubebe's family. He saw himself being celebrated as the celebrity of official irresponsibility. Then, he issued a statement that could best be described as a campaign after an election. In the statement, elder Orubebe massaged his own tiny ego. He reminded us of his role in the Niger-Delta peace discourse. He told those of us that are not aware, that he is an elder in his church. Then, someone beside me asked 'what more could rebrand elder Orubebe if he could forget his political status and religious one to disrupt a legal process?' For this phase, no matter what the revered elder did, the election saga would always come to mind when the name Orubebe is mentioned. Not many was there when he went to the creek, not many knew him as a minister, not many knew him as an elder in the church, but everybody is aware that he is deft at disrupting due processes and sitting on the floor.
Through Jega, the world has learnt that proper management of people won't always make an angry action trigger an outrageous reaction. For Jega, elder Orubebe's display was an avenue for him to exhibit his classy professorial and professional ethics. Indeed, Jega is an impressive revelation of the 21st century! Jega's composure was epic, it should be made a compulsory course in our educational institution. It made the voice of the town crier merely tangential to the process at hand.
His response was legendary and accurate. I cannot but admit that he is a different breed of Nigerian, far distinct from an ordinary one time-minister struggling for a summary show in the arena of relevance. The name Jega should become a word in every language which could be used to describe an exceptional display of intelligence and composure in the midst of troubles sponsored by the power that be. Brilliant! |

History will be very kind to Ojukwu despite plunging his race into a war he did not prepare for. The war was forced on him and it became very imperative for him to go to war. After the war, he transformed into a Nigerian democrat and even attempted to rule Nigeria through the ballot. He died a Nigerian statesman and was accorded full Nigerian national funeral.
Now to these comedians shouting Biafra all over the place, definitely, history will be very harsh on them. After over 45 years, there was no preparation, no strategic thought process, no re-orientation for the people. THe best crop of the Igbo people are still scattered all over the country, developing the economy of other regions to the detriment of their ''homeland''. Vast number of the people are not educated, enlightened, cultured (apologies please). Good, they are very industrious, hardworking and ingenious, one would have expected that for a race that is desirous of self rule, their leaders should have invested tremendously on the human assets but the reverse seems to be the case here.
At one time they are scheming and wanting to be captains of Nigerian economy wherever they are in Nigeria except the SE, at another, they are desirous of self rule. What exactly do they want? What is the strategic intent of the Igbo race either within or without Nigeria.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in a people desiring autonomy. But the leaders must be serious minded, focused and visionary. If Ojukwu were to be alive today, I bet he would never support any of these clowns wanting Biafra simply because they had good forty five years to prepare and they did not. If the SE should secede today, they would be the worst of it, the new nation among many woes will be lacking in goodwill from its immediate neighbors and the untold hardship of its nationals in those places can only be better imagined! |

The bible was so apt about the devil coming as an angel of light in the last days. They refer to Jesus and His teachings yet they don't make reference to the bible. Hmnnn I noticed how that question was evaded when someone asked. It is well o! May d Lord help us cos even the very elect will fall in the last days. All these laws of creation, universe this and that Wetin dem dey use am do? Seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. The kingdom of God is righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Ghost! If we seek that, the Holy spirit of God will direct us to God through Jesus and help us to be righteous and accept the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and every other thing will follow.
How do we seek the kingdom of God?
Genuine repentance Prayer Accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross and salvation and confessing it with your mouth. Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour and studying the word of God which can be found in the Holy bible inspired by God. There is power and life in those words which will change us and bring alive our spirit man and connect it back to God the true vine and we it's branches. The word of God is Jesus.
We shouldn't seek to do good and be good or purify our thoughts by ourselves cos our righteousness is like filthy rags before God. The bible says all our help cometh from the Lord! Halleluyah! We need help from Him to have a renewed and pure mind which is pleasing and acceptable to Him, we can never achieve that by ourselves. He has provided that Help with His word which renews us as we study with the Holy Spirit. Self righteousness will take you to hell! Be warned! Using logic to understand and analyse the things of the spirit is laughable especially when you guys tried to analyse the concept of immaculate conception and tried to use science to explain it that a spirit must have slept with Mary to bear the messiah. It is not for us to know how God went about it afterall when he said let there be light and there was light, did He carry matchstick to create the light or did he grab 2 stones n dry grass and rubbed to get light. The pot wan dey use the brain wey potter give am to analyse the ways of the Potter! Mega Uber laughable. May the Lord help us all. A confused mind, pharisaical, over-zealous and deluded. The fact that you do not understand and or cannot comprehend the message should not have warranted an attack on it. This thread is not open-ended, it is for those who believes in or want to know about a particular subject-matter, its not an avenue for brandishing the pseud-knowledge of your faith in order to paint it as superior. Its amazing how some Igbo brothers talk about secession as if its child's play. Obviously, most of the folks here on NL are not the crème de la crème of Ndigbo, their reasoning are too pedestrian and they didn't even know the full import of the SE seceding. One of the simplest thing that would happen should the secession succeed is that all your dream of controlling the economy of Lagos, Abuja, Kano etc will be gone in seconds. You will become foreigners in those places and will first of all relocate to your Biafra and then apply for a visa to come back. Your property may never ever be recovered and then, when the chips are down, you will realized that ''one tree does not make a forest'' You need the Yorubas that you hate so much, you need the Hausas, we all need one another and your leaders will then begin diplomatic maneuvers with your hitherto compatriots. Hmnnnnnnnnnnn, can go on and on.
I only hope that when the time comes, you guys wont be looking for who to blame and or who caused your property to be forfeited, or some other ''stories for the gods''. |

It is known fact, that ojukwu didn't bring enough technocrats to the Aburi accord , and he got a terrible deal, nothing short of "go home disband your militia and that all" no promises no consesions from Nigeria , Biafra was never under attack until they ran through the middle belt , sacked Benin and ore and looted the central depository there . NA then moved to occupy the middle belt and slowly advanced .
It is not my fault the Igbo cowards were given a lesson in diplomacy 101 in 1966 but they surely have not learnt much from that experience if current trends are signals,

"Zik was no different he did nothing with his 6 years , no myth no legend Perhaps you are right on other positions but on the Aburi, i beg to defer. Many credible sources said otherwise about Ojukwu and his team at Aburi. Ojukwu's team was the better of the two. He was articulate and well prepared for the meeting. He knew what he wanted and he stuck to it unlike the Federal team that history recorded as jokers who were ill-prepared and could not form a reasonable position, agreeing to what they did not understand culminating in Gowon going back on the agreements at Aburi and Ojukwu maintaining that ''On Aburi we stand'' thus adding to our national vocabulary ''on so and so we stand'' |

Sunnybobo3: The International Criminal Court (ICC) has confirmed that it has received a petition against the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, as a result of the inciting statement he made against the Igbo people living in Lagos State before the April 11 governorship election.
The international court on Tuesday acknowledged receipt of the petition filed by Dr. Josef Umunnakwe Onoh, son of the former Governor of Enugu State, late Chief C.C Onoh.
The Oba had threatened to throw the Igbo people into the lagoon if they failed to vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akinwumi Ambode.
Onoh threatened to present Oba Akiolu’s inciteful speech before the ICC which he subsequently made real his vow through a petition dated April 21.
Acknowledging receipt of the petition, the ICC Head of Information and Evidence Unit, office of the prosecutor, M.P. Dillon said: “This communication has been duly entered in the communications register of the office.
“We will give consideration to this communication, as appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Rome statute of the International Criminal Court.”
Onoh petitioned the ICC, saying he believed that Oba Akiolu’s threat amounted to a call for violence to be perpetrated against the Igbo people in Lagos in the event that the APC governorship candidate lost the election, which he noted violates Article 20 of the international convention and elimination of all forms of racial discrimination.
“Had the threat been made by any lesser person, we would have dismissed same as ideal threat, but coming from the Oba of Lagos himself, it was a call to arms and an incitement to violence against the Igbo people,” Onoh petitioned.
It will be recalled that it was a similar incitement speech by the Zulu king that caused the ongoing xenophobia rampage in South Africa.

For instance, guys have u ever wonder why a monkey looking man is married to or dating a beautiful lady while fine boy is being rejected or dumped by ladies? The answer is Money.
However, ladies at the hearing of where some guys work can make them quickly initiate green-light mode for love leading to relationship/marriage because of their earning and these companies are;
Oil and Gas
A guy working with shell, exxonmobile, chevron, schlumberger, etc is a big boy. Guys in this category attract ladies like ant to a sugar source because ladies know their worries for financial help is over.
Blue Chip
FMCG guys especially the sales force team are well paid and looking even much better than those working in AC environment. This category of guys do not only have money but also their mouth is so sweet tongue that ladies find it hard to resist their proposal.
Aviation
If a guy approach a lady and say "My name is Michael, I am a pilot in Etihad airways". Even if the lady is not in the mood to entertain stranger, hearing "Pilot" alone will raise her eyebrow.
Telecommunication
Telecom guys have swags and confidence that can make ladies easily fall for them. Due to the fame in the industry as they sponsor many shows and pay celebrity massive money, the brand name speaks for them and gets ladies attention quickly.
Medical field
Doctors don't look for jobs and are well paid. As a result of this, Ladies accept doctor's proposal and wish to settle on time with them.

The truer part of the gist ''Metuh will need the training to effectively carry out his new, tough task.'' Opposition job is not the usual PDP's owambe party where oil wells are shared.
The truest part ''... to being able to operate on a lean or zero budget,'' Yes o no more Naira rain. GMB will hardly be anybody's ATM like bros GEJ who was proned to scams from ''gbogbo ero'' |

ntyce: This man is a certified criminal, his name is even the surest proof. No Yoruba true - born bears Buruji Kashamu, Buruji and Kashamu are accolades of a rich man. His real name is Alhaji Esho Jinadu, biggest drug Lord in Benin Republic. He ventured into politics to launder his wealth and provide cover for himself. He doesn't even need to visit the USA, a trip to Walter Carrington@ V.I. will do. True but you are also wrong, his real name cannot be Esho Jinadu. Esho Jinadu is one of the aliases he used in some of his nefarious activities. Esho Jinadu in Yoruba contemporary folk-lore is a man that is dandy, fashionable and trendy. Perhaps, the real man called Esho Jinadu may have lived in the distant past, distant from the generation of this accused. |

Story Story, story!
1. Buruji Kashamu, is that generally Yoruba name or Ijebu name, Ijegba name, Ijegbo name, Ijenupe, Ijekanuri? 2. What is your name at birth as used in your primary school. 3. At what point did your name become Buruji Kashamu. 4. What is the surname of your father, your uncle and siblings. 5. Identify another kinsman from your town/village bearing Kashamu
Answer these correctly and I'd sing ''Story for the Gods'' with you otherwise, just voluntarily resign from the senate and beg Baba for forgiveness. |
Politics › Re: How Obasanjo Destroyed PDP (2) - VANGUARD by nokingasgod: 10:45am On Apr 16, 2015 |
Talk about inconsistent thought processes talk about this contradictive essay. After the writer developed his case against Obasanjo for most part of the essay, his conclusion simply exonerated Obasanjo of any wrong doing.
''Of course, PDP’s fall from power under the watch of President Jonathan was further helped by the President’s failure to take decisive steps when and where he needed to. This made him subject to blackmail. Jonathan surrounded himself with people who posed as his lovers but were actually deceivers. They took whatever they could from him and abandoned him when he needed them most. Matters were not helped by his sloppy handling of the Boko Haram insurgency, which grew from a small pox on the nose to a plague that wracked the whole nation.
Perhaps, if Jonathan had been a little more in charge and decisive, he would have prevented some of the little problems that ballooned to decide for him only one term in office. But Obasanjo was the headwind that chipped away, unchallenged, at the pedestal of his presidential power.''
Tell me, how can an organisation, political, social, economic or what have you, talk-less of a nation as delicate as Nigeria, survive under a leader who cannot take decisive steps? A leader who surrounded himself with pathological sycophants. A leader who was sloppy in handling a critical security issue. A leader who was not in charge. |

seyiade50: Okay I will now take you up on the candidates. You were talking about Ambode's experience and performance. Let me ask you what he has achieved exactly and how many he has led before. Please also tell me how much he has done for people outside his family. The fact Jimi has experience with different parties starts to suggest he's not the kind of stooge Ambode is (more like Buhari and Tinubu). Plus, we have just been liberated from pdp's democratic dictatorship in a way and it is now best to keep both parties alive and strong (or APC will just become the next PDP). I would even add thet people of the south-west must try to retain (and even increase) their stakes in PDP, because it is obvious that APC will soon be firmly under the control of the north. Poth parties must stay alive and competitive so that they either are forced to perform better or report the attrocities of the other to us. That I think is best for NIGERIA and all of us. About the one-branch talk, it is something that can be interpreted in many ways. Such as: he is not crazy about riches (which is quite great); he is not a thief (and so will not embezzle our wealth)... There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, nothing at all. And all the while your Amnode has been 'mis-transferring funds' from govt house (which is what u are calling experience right). And sorry for my hard words before; no offence intended honestly. Just let us be careful to choose wisely while we have the chance (dogs chance since they can still rig) to regulate these politicians. Soon dey will be above the law and the only thing that can restrain them is competition with and watchful eyes of THEIR PEERS. No need to pity Tinubu sir for what might soon befall him, especially if he loses Lagos. He has enjoyed life far more than 99 percent of Nigerians to have ever lived . And finally the situation means that we must look beyond the candidates themselves. If Tinubu, then there is the possibility Buhari's anti-corruption drive will not reach Lagos (even if it is not certain). With PDP in govt, it will definitely reach lagos (a very ggood thing). The PDP would also have enough strength to at least see what the feds are doing and won't be silenced or complicit (something we cannot guarantee with Tinubu). This is what I was talking about in my first post (and why I said shallow). Oga Quintessential Analyst, how far na? |
