PoliticsBefore You Hate Kanu by Noneroone(op): 2:17pm On Sep 17, 2017
Copied...

BEFORE YOU HATE KANU,

Kanu reminds me of Nelson Mandela and apartheid struggle in South Africa. According to Mandela himself, the whole country, including black South Africans labelled him a terrorist who was selfish and heartless that his campaign would lead to death of many blacks.

Many claimed Mandela was trying to be king in a new South Africa populated by blacks and Mandela’s worst critics were blacks he was fighting for.

Mandela and his ANC comrades were hounded, blacklisted and jailed for their cause. Mandela and ANC were tagged “terrorists” by the British and other western media. Cuba and other pariah states under the sanctions of the western powers supported Mandela and his comrades. That even worsen the situation as he was charged for treason and jailed for same.

27 years after when his youth was already stolen from him, African leaders rose to mobilise for his release. Mandela came out of prison and the world was made to forget all they called him – “heartless terrorist”. Those who misunderstood him are now the champion of his ideologies across the world today.

Before you lose your temper over my postulations, know this, I am not comparing Mandela with Kanu – no they are two different personalities of different causes.

Mandela believed black South Africans were being marginalised in their country and deserves to sit on the same table with the apartheid government led by whites as partners in nation building; Kanu once campaigned for restructuring like other Igbo leaders but changed cause when he saw that the odd was against the campaigners in the unitary structured Nigeria – he chose peaceful dissolution after – referendum.

Kanu is many people’s nightmare and he must be crushed they roared, thanks to the media. Every of his critics today are pontificating on what must befall him and his followers for daring to “divide Nigeria”.

One day, you will look back to a time like this and remember freedom fighters were never loved anywhere in the world until they succeed but they are never hated either as you may think too. To shock you, the world revered them and c respect them, even when they don’t agree with them.

One day you will look back and remember all you’ve missed from and Freedom campaigns because you choose to see ONLY what you wanted to see.

One day one of you would be pushed to be a Kanu of your generation and you will look back to this day and remember your role.

I am for break up…. Let BIAFRANS GO.

Opinionated:
By Olaide Lukman Olaoluwa

[s]If I were Nnamdi Kanu, I would start the Biafran agitation from home by questioning the South-East governors before engaging the federal government. I would seek why the South East is the least in terms of Internally Generated Revenue asides North-East. The Eastern leaders need to show political accountability before tossing the marginalisation speech to the federal government.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu,i would ask important questions from Law makers like Senator Ike Ekweremadu if they were satisfied with the Eastern status-quo, I would put to them if they have been listening to cries back home, how Ekweremadu being the Chairman of constitutional amendment has not seen the need to lobby for referendum in the constitution which will pave the way for smooth secession.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu, rather than label some part of Nigeria as our enemy, I would seek for unity and political integration as politics is a game of numbers. I would not need to call the president names as it is in the public record that he twice had an Igbo man as his running mate. Hence, I would shake hands across the Niger, entertain opinion from home and abroad because we need all the support we can get.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu, our secessionist movement would not be that of an uncouth public display rather it would be a movement of apt intelligence with well-to-do individuals from all walks of life as Biafra should be an ideology instead of a regional thing. I would borrow ideas how NADECO actualised having a Yoruba man as a consolation for the withheld people’s mandate of MKO Abiola. How they pressurised the government and powers that be without taking up arms.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu, I would utilise the call for restructuring by campaigning for a true federal or regional structure with the East depending on itself than on the centre. As this will not only create more jobs and improve the human capacity as a whole, it will also help harness our current resources lying idle.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu, I would stop the feet kissing display and inflammatory statements. I would adopt some methods from great men like Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Ghandi and so on. This would change my already in-doubt public perception.

If I were Nnamdi Kanu … fortunately, I am not Nnamdi Kanu. I am another Nigerian whose opinion will be deemed irrelevant depending on the side of the divide the reader belongs.

It shows IPOB is winning. only the man who finished the race can tell the complete story about the distance. one of my fears when fayose and fani kayode came close to Nnamdi kanu was that they could do what people from that area know how to do best- befriend you in order to betray you. it happened to Ojukwu with awolowo and ojukwu was betrayed. the fact that fayose has revealed his true colour as a unity begger out of frustration has proven Kanu and IPOB inpenetrable .

Op we shouldn't make much of this even though the edifice is fine and should be replicated.
what caught my attention was the fine private residential buildings in the area. it is cheering owing to the fact that the area is the outskirts of Awka. The only odd structure there is the dilapidated highway which belongs to the federal govt.

Nigeria has failed us! I am for Biafra.

This is exactly my point, the IPOB, MASSOB charade lacks credibility on all fronts. You can't neglect, abandon and overrule the minorities right to also have their own voice heard in this struggle and not expect them to be suspicious of your intentions. By the way, there is no place in Igbo land called biafra so the name is even a problem in its own.

This agitation is wrong on all fronts.

PoliticsBiafra:what Nnamdi Kanu Is Not Getting Right- Philip Effiong [video] by Noneroone(op): 5:24pm On Jul 08, 2017
The son of late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu’s second-in-command during the 1967 civil war in Nigeria, Philip Effiong Jr., has faulted the approach adopted by Nnamdi Kanu and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the renewed agitation for an Independent Biafra state.

According to him, the Biafra agitators unwittingly bought into the propaganda sold by those opposed to Biafra by making their agitations seem like an Igbo affair.

He said the Biafra agitators from the South east were not carrying along the minorities, who also participated and made sacrifices during the civil war.

Effiong Jr. said this during an interview with Hassan Arouni of BBC’s Focus on Africa.

He said: “I think there is something fundamentally wrong with their (IPOB) approach which is the fact that they have made it an Igbo problem.

“They bought into the propaganda that the enemy tried to sell and that propaganda is ‘the Igbo people are out to take over Nigeria and dominate the minorities that around them. They are evil people and they try to disunite us.’ For people (IPOB) to make it as an Igbo problem buys into that propaganda.

“Of course, minorities were extremely involved, died, suffered, and played major roles.”

On his memories of the Biafra civil war, Effiong Jr. said: “I remember the plane bombing; that is one thing that stands out. I remember the planes bombing and one having to run away from them.

“Enugu was shelled. I remember I was playing with my brothers with thought it was thunder at first. Then we realized shells were landing and the movements were just constant. I think we must have lived in at least five different cities during the war.

“Most of the outside world did not have an inkling of what was happening inside Biafra. Some did. And you have got to give credit to places like Ireland; the church made that possible. You know the Catholic Church has had a long philanthropic tradition and that helped spread the word.”

On whether, Nigeria learnt any lesson from the civil war, he said: “Nigeria and Nigerians have not learnt their lessons from the Biafra war.

“We are perhaps more divided that we ever where. First of all the war wasn’t about unity but it even divided us more. Even today, people can’t really talk about having friends from other ethnic groups.

“When you look at elections for instance or the fact that went and lived in a different state; there would be restrictions in the kind of positions I could hold. You find out that the concept of unity has not actually been realized.”
