On a side note ,why is kicking a cat considered animal cruelty, but whipping a horse for a sport is considered okay and normal by the same country with the highest population of "animal lovers" ?

For generations now, subjecting a horse to thousand of whips for sport ,which is televised in the UK ,with thousands of "animal lovers" in the background cheering on, is not considered animal cruelty, rather it's popularly seen as a sport.
The law generally stated that animals with backbone have a right to happiness as well as avoiding suffering,in the UK,then why is whipping a horse for a sport an exception ?

There have being data that some of this horses suffer injuries and even death after the sport, why is that not a concerned for the "animal lovers" ?

The one reason I see is that horse racing is a million dollar industry that generates lots of money ,and they are ready to condone the abuse subjected to this horses as long as they generate huge money for their economy and not really because they genuinely care about the welfare of animals in general.

Thank you.
Same with that bull stabbing game they play in Mexico.

This is madness. This is crazy. Because he kicked a cat? I think these people are over-doing these things.

How much humanity have they saved? Look at the outrageous fine. They didn’t even donate it to destitute humans. The guy could be reprimanded but this is propestrous

Education / Re: An Account I Won't Touch Till The End Of The Year by Nothingserious: 6:10am On Jan 23, 2022
AdeniyiAr9:
I want to open a bank account I want to be depositing between 15 to 20k every month till the end of the year. This will be an account I won't touch till the end of the year. Please what kind of account will be appropriate with little or no charges?. Second I need you guys to recommend a bank.
Salary is coming next week and I want to have a good saving culture this year.

Great idea.

Please approach any commercial bank and open a simple savings account and save the money. When you need it, there are no stories. You just take your money and do what you wish with it. No drama. No stories.

Don’t listen to anyone talking about inflation. Basic secondary school economics taught us the three types of money people keep.
Not all money is for investment. Not all is for real estate. Even big businesses keep cash ( liquid and quick assets) for daily operations and for emergencies when opportunities like cheap land or cheap car or cheap shop come up.

How much inflation is going to happen to N240k in a year that would stress you to start scratching your head on plenty of ideas? Pls just save the money and take it when you need it.

Option 2 is the insurance life savings. They mostly do for 2-5 years. So you will need to understand the terms and explain to them to give you a policy for 1 year just like you want.

Third one is the dom account. This is okay but the diff in the USD 400-420 usd at the end of the year might not be much. You will require references to open the account. When you withdraw back, you might incur small charges and then look for a buyer. If this is okay for you, go ahead.

But don’t put a savings you suffered to get into an investment you do not understand. You just need your money when you need it without much stress.

Cheers

Abeg we are going into the serious part of the tournament, they should drop the guy, we don't need another Sani Keita here please

I guess he was being tested and experimented with seeing Nigeria was a bit comfortable after the first 2 matches and wins.

Probably he won’t start the knock-out critical matches and may always come in towards the end of the match.

I am still curious as to his inclusion.
Maybe Federal character? Maybe there is something good about him we are yet to see?
Maybe he is good but still jittery and not confident on the pitch?

If we hadn’t won, that guy would have chopped plenty blame’s from his obvious misses.

No, Brownjay I disagree. 4 weeks is not a lot or too much, for people to exercise self control and be disciplined.

Everywhere you turn these days, it's sex, sex, sex and more sex. Almost every conversation, music, TV show, etcetera... is tilted towards sex.

It's like we've become mindless robots controlled by our sexual urges and completely lacking in self restraint of any kind.

Granted, the male and female psyche may differ when it comes to sex. But, certain concepts like self control, self care, self preservation, building and maintaing trust with a partner, are not alien to us nah.

Finding exceptions to the general rule or common practice in vogue, is very refreshing. I think it's a really cool thing, when an individual sets themselves apart from the pack or norm.

It is self care and self preservation to not sleep with a person, you hardly know or just met for the first time, because konji dey catch you, it's a manly issue and women can't understand. If you catch a disease or some other kind of wahala from the fuvcking expedition, nko?

We get it, sex is important to you guys judging by the number of threads created by men on the issue of being sex starved in marriage. But, can you people at least show us, you are capable of self restraint in four weeks and you are not ruled by the organ between your legs?

You are intelligent.
You are sane.
You are blunt.
You appear mature.

Business / Re: Funds In My Brother's Bank Account Was Wiped Off by Nothingserious: 3:58pm On Jan 15, 2022
Desammyst:
Good day, everyone. I lost my brother's Polaris bank ATM Card last month. He didn't bother to go and block it in the bank, and went for his military service in Borno state.

He came back this month and this afternoon, he received debit alerts on his phone, as a result of the lost ATM card. When I came home this evening and he showed me the alerts, I discovered that prior to the debit alert, he had received message requesting for OTP five times. I was dumbfounded and till now I can't grasp how it happened.

Does it mean someone's money can be wiped off without OTP?

What happens to bank security? Because if someone doesn't send OTP, isn't the person safe.

Is there anyway the funds can be retrieved.
Please, help a brother. My family is pained embarassed cry

Error 1:
You should have informed your bank to block the debit card immediately you suspected it missing. Your bank isn’t liable here. But thou can lodge a complaint for an investigation.

Possibility 1: it’s possible this is not a random misplacement of the card. You didn’t say the circumstances sorrounding the misplacement.
What if someone close to you guys did this?

Not same religion.

Only about 50% of Americans are religious vs 90% of Nigerians.

First I need you to back up this with a data.

Secondly, if what you asserted is true(which is not actually), then the successes recorded by the 50% religious people knocks off the fact that religion is Nigeria’s problem. If 50% can do so much in America ( according to your claim which isn’t true), then 90% in Nigeria should do much more.

Yes that’s a tradition in many churches in Nigeria, including Igboland, Lagos and North.

The bride is escorted by her friends to the church. She doesn’t go alone. She goes with her female friends and some of her bridal train. She is prepared by her friends there and March to the church in the morning.

Religion / Re: What Is The Essence Of Atheism? by Nothingserious: 9:48am On Dec 20, 2021
Myer:

True my definition here is not the true definition of atheism.

Atheism is a state where you lack belief in god.

My point is simple. Every Nigerian was born into religion and worship of a god or gods or God/Allah.
So as an educated individual, you should deconstruct yourself from what you were born into and discover God for your self.

That's when you can truly know if you're an atheist or a theist or someone who is just practising the religion (s)he was born into or someone trying to please the society or family or cowering under peer pressure.

Great input!

We also have so many Nigerians not born into theism but who have been convinced of its claims. That’s something.

We have so many non theists in many secular states like China who are now theists. Whatever convinced them to follow theism must be strong and convincing.

Martinez39s,1Sharon,CAPSLOCKED, LordReed,adoyi8,kingsmaz,johnnydon22,helineus,MJBolt and every other atheist on Earth.

Atheists cannot give you a definition atheism.
And they will also struggle with the essence of atheism.
Religion / Re: What Is The Essence Of Atheism? by Nothingserious: 9:04pm On Dec 19, 2021
Myer:

Atheism is a state of mind where you choose to deconstruct yourself from religious, family and societal expectations. You choose to find meaning to life and your existence.

Speaking from a Nigerian's perspective we are by birth and upbringing immersed either in Christianity, Islam or tradionalism. But most times as you grow more independent you start to question your belief system and its efficacy.

I believe every educated human being should pass through a phase of atheism before finally deciding whether to continue with atheism or discover the religion that they are comfortable with.

Theists are also finding meaning to life and existence. What you gave is not a definition of atheism, except the state of mind part.

By your “state of mind” definition, atheism seems to be what anyone feels in their heart

Kingmena:
We hear every day that the sin of Adam brought sin to all men, which we call adams sin or Adams nature, which covers every human born on earth, so the question is babies that were born on on earth and died maybe few day, few week, few months after their birth where will they go, heaven or hell. Discuss

“All who have sinned without the Law will also perish without [regard to] the Law, and all who have sinned under the Law will be judged and condemned by the Law.

For it is not merely hearing the Law [read] that makes one righteous before God, but it is the doers of the Law who will be held guiltless and acquitted and justified.

When Gentiles who have not the [divine] Law do instinctively what the Law requires, they are a law to themselves, since they do not have the Law.

They show that the essential requirements of the Law are written in their hearts and are operating there, with which their consciences (sense of right and wrong) also bear witness; and their [moral] decisions (their arguments of reason, their condemning or approving thoughts) will accuse or perhaps defend and excuse [them]

On that day when, as my Gospel proclaims, God by Jesus Christ will judge men in regard to the things which they conceal (their hidden thoughts). [Eccl. 12:14.]”

You are the one that is not focused here.

Matt 18 : 3 used " as little children" and not " like little children".

By this, the emphasis is on the attribute of little children and the kingdom of God.

You claimed that Matt 18: 3 is only talking about the Born Again. I am asking again, is that what the Holy Spirit, the great teacher, has taught you about Matt 18:3 ?

Your response should either be yes or no.

Thank you. Nice response.

Technically, no one was ever born again until Jesus resurrected and the disciples started preaching salvation through his name.

So all of the gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and even the early chapters in Acts of the Apostles are historical before the crucifixion of Jesus.

If Jesus taught something in Matthew, we can’t retract it to being born again teaching if we technically understand the true meaning of being born again.

I don't really get the point you are trying to make. Are you asking me to comment on the comments of others? Would that not be like taking just one of your posts and ignorantly commenting? I mean, see how much we've had to comment on each others comments to even attempt to understand what we are saying to one another.

I've tried to get a definition of science from you. I've offered mine, "ask and knock and seek", and now I add, "first, for the Kingdom of God", but you seem to be equating the method (science) that should be used to do the research of asking and knocking and seeking, for the thing (God, the religious say), that you are meant to be seeking.

Please tell me if I am wrong, and how.

You are wrong pls.

I simply dropped a link and asked you to weigh in your opinion and possibly access the link and the thread.

This isn’t an argument. If I were going to engage you on an argument, you know how I would approach it.
