I drive a Toyota Camry 07 and the cooling fans only come on intermittently and is only consistent when the AC is on but recently my electrician has been advising that I should allow him connect it to be running continuously else one day I'll suffer over heating.

I need professional advice on this.

Do not mix the coolant as most are already pre-mixed (confirm on label).
As my oga nurey said, you can buy total coolant from any total filling station, I think it's 1k per liter.
Using water might lead to rusts and might damage your water pump because of zero internal lubrication.
I guess your fan is already running direct and thermostat removed else you would've had serious overheating issues in between your water topups.

Removing the gear and changing the filter and fibre or so. After that the gear makes a loud bang when switched or changed. Before then,all i had to do was to step on the brakes lightly with no hard bang sound and gear changes. But after doing it,the sound or bang came. I complained to him,he said that it will settle.

No problem but as long as vehicle isn't overheating. Vehicle doesn't only overheat in traffic, if radiator is bad the more you speed the more the temp would rise in other cases.

The coolant thing with radiator is almost 45k and that's huge at this time. Let me just finished with the radiator for the final stage. It might get a replacement next year.
We always tell people here to buy car is easy maintaining it is the hardest task of all.

No need most coolant sold in Nigeria are already premixed, the total coolants are already premixed adding water would turn them from concentrated to diluted mix. Which isn't effective

Former owner of my car use water. The worst part is the the car short water. Although he told me he top water every two days before I buy it. When I bought it brought out the radiator and notice it has been work severally. I thought there was not need working on it again. Let me just buy new one. But from my inquiries the price is very much at the moment. So I continue using the radiator and toping the water like that.

It's not easy toping water every now and than as one usually forgets. I took the radiator out to be work on. I know that will be the last work that will be done on the radiator before it would be replaced.

The guy assured me it will not leak of he tackles on the leaks.

When he finished I installed the radiator and filled with water. I am still observing if there would be leaks.

I was checking on coolant online but the price nor be here. Considering the leaking my rediator it wouldn't be wise.

If I can buy new radiator it would make more since but not with this one.

But if this radiator doesn't leak for now. Is it wise to use coolant?

Car owners should always follow owners manual at all times.. And avoid going of the rail.

When a competent vehicle manufacture designs an engine like Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Audi , Volvo etc . The engineers take into account the weather conditions and the terrain those vehicles will operate. These cars are shipped and sold all over the world...

The engineers are pretty much aware of all these things. So the engines are design to operate in most severe conditions regardless of weather conditions. They don't built engines for cold weather or hot weather. But they built engines for all extreme conditions. And this is why you have the owners manual to read and follow...

In the owners manual it will tell you the type of oil to use in some extreme conditions or in all conditions etc . 10w30, 5w40, 0w30, 5w30 etc

I always get upset when people use Nigerian weather to go off the rail or an excuse to ignore owners manual. We have all year weather conditions like Nigeria in the USA .. Texas, Arizona, Las Vegas( Las Vegas is a desert) Florida just to name a few . Do u think engines are built for those specific places .. Even places like Dubai are hotter than Nigeria.......

From my years of experience, I have never a country that imports engines like Nigeria. People are always changing engine all the time. And you ask yourself why is it that way.

In the USA people don't engines like that.. We maintain our cars to avoid expensive repairs. The labour cost alone will make you ran mad .

Some engines cheap but the cost to replace will cost more. And the paper work involve is not worth it.


We need to learn to follow directions and read. And with the mindset that car owners have in Nigeria. I don't see electric cars thriving on the road even if there is 24hrs electricity. It is just a nightmare to have those cars on the road. Our mechanics are not ready or willing to learn new skills........

By 2035 all car manufacture will stop making petrol engine .. Toyota was very reluctant at the beginning , but now they have change course. Volvo has totally stop making ICE ( Internal combustion engine) ...........

And Nigerians that cannot follow simple instructions will now be driving electrics cars ....

Cool bro.. As long as u follow owners manual and use quality engine oil.. You don't need to buy expensive oil , just make sure the oil is original ..

Those are vehicles that are rushing to lagos to reload, go normal park and ask how much is motor.....make them shock you!! Even Uromi to Benin is #2,500 without AC, not to talk of lagos
