Hyundai sonata with the GDI engines of that year had engines issues from 2011 to 2014 I did say strike that one out. Except you get china variant or Asian with non GDI which is far from reality

VW passat nah engine be the trouble in the sense that those engines were highly intolerant to cheap oil and low quality petrol. The fuel imported in Nigeria is of low quality, the engine may not survive more than 2years coupled with the fact that technical know how are scarce and the parts are expensive.

Mazda CX9 is just a ford edge in disguise, it's the most sane choice but the engine has an inbuilt water pump that can fail without prior notification and gbam Ladipo boys don win your jackpot

If those three are your main choice, I will pick the mazda CX9 since ford edge is very popular on road, but the parts are scarce, when available very expensive.

i am not comparing per say, when was the engine revealed compared to competition. Hyundai and Kia engines have always been expensive but doesnt mean person should drive those cars.

The year you are buying doesn't have GDI complaint, other complaint are manageable and can be resolved. It's the 2011 to 14 model years that had engine complaint.

do Abeokuta farmers plant Oil Palm sha, never seen huge hectares of such. The only place i know in Abeokuta is FUNAAB and they process their harvest into oil.

You can try Odeda local gov areas upto Ibadan side, (abeokuta Ibadan Road) through Osiele i used to see palm trees around those sides.

No the civic is apt for your needs. If the roads are bad, you can buy a tokunbo 05 or 06 honda CRV EX trim, more ground clearance to beat bad roads and flood. Both should fall between 3m to 3.5m as tokunbo

Add like 200k to ur budget should get you a 2006 to 2008 tokunbo honda civic which is very good.

Adding 600 to 800k should get you a tokunbo corolla maybe between 05 and 06 model years, they are reliable and good but be weary of robbers and vandals for this one.

For the camry that amount can only get you naija used. The 4cylinder is known to burn oil and majority forsale as naija used are those owners already notice this oil consuming issues. I can only vouch for the V6 if you are comfortable with its fuel economy. If you can add to your budget with 500k maybe a naija used 2010 or 2011 with a better 4cylinder can be gotten.

There is no CVT engine, what we have is CVT transmission and honda variant are reliable

I in a fix right now to choose between a 2011 Rav4 4wd and Honda Accord 2014. Both Nigerian used sha.

Both vehicles are good in their class. The 4 cylinder accord has a good mpeg, but the 4 cylinder rav4 isn't too bad either.

All engine variant are very solid too. I would tilt towards the rav4 in lagos because raining season comes with flood and bad roads, where sedans and smaller cars shy from entering, I drive my CUV through those roads and I come out strong at the otherside.

But also we get more flood on the island compared to mainland. Parts and technical know how available for both vehicles.

Maintenance cost the rav4 should come cheaper since it debuted in 2007 while the accord debuted in 2013.
