if two words are synonymous, you can replace one with the other and not lose any info in transmission. If you replace dating with courtship in nearly every context, it wouldn't pass the same message.

With the exception of arranged marriages between near-strangers, everyone else passes through a period of courtship (no matter how long or brief) before marriage. No matter how long two persons have known each other even as childhood friends, there's always this "let's get serious" period just before the formal agreement (engagement) to get married.

Sorry to say, I think you are a cry baby. You insulted her and she retaliated, and you are wailing over it.

Thing is, verbal exchanges in the heat of anger are like punches - they are meant to hurt the other person. You tried to hurt her with your insults, and she tried to hurt you with hers. If you can insult the girl you love, why can't she tell you she's managing you? All is fair in war.
