For your information, for producing forged documents they got banned for 10years. So please think twice before you do something illegal. |

I agree these commercial cyclists can be nuisance sometimes. But come to think of it, like someone said, they are necessary evil. How many people here can truly say they have not used okada before? We have had many plane crashes, but it has not stopped us from flying on planes, we have had many road accidents, we still drive on those roads. The solution is not to ban (that is a cheap solution), but to improve them, put measures in place to reduce those accidents. Those jobless commercial cyclists are potential armed robbers, kidnappers, etc. An idle hand they say is the devil’s tool. |
250 taxis to replace 120,000 commercial cyclists. Makes economic sense. So by 15th November, the unemployed figure in cross river will increase by 119,750. |
LWKMD. ![]() I don’t believe Bode George’s wife wrote this. The piece certainly does Bode George no good, if anything, it confirms him as a criminal. But the point I have to agree with is that, EFCC needs to send all these corrupt politicians to jail, and let them all remain in prison till after 2011 election. |
OMG. Lord have mercy! |
I have no problem with those calling for the division of Nigeria, either Biafra, Arewa, Odua or becomerich Benin. But I wonder how they ever imagine it will work out, with the caliber of corrupt and selfish people in power in all the regions of Nigeria. So Becomerish just one question…How do you think your wish/plan can work out…I hope u are not thinking of war? |
Whao! Thanks for not disappointing me. I would have been shocked and disappointed in myself if you have not responded this way. Your character is just too predictable. So many times we keep seeing the speck on other people’s eye and fail to notice the log on our own. "Men are anxious to improve their circumstances, but are unwilling to improve themselves; they therefore remain bound." - James Allen 1864-1912 bye. |
canuck:Cool ![]() U might consider sending it to my mailbox then. am still interested, love to have a balance picture. Thanks. |
By the way Amaka, what happened u have to re-registered? Notice u only register yesterday but I know u are one of the old member of NL, amazingly too, between yesterday and today u have clocked more than 150, think u deserve a medal. I don’t have anything to say or should I say I don’t want to comment on the topic directly. But just a piece of advice. You don’t have to always respond to every criticism, sometimes d best response is silence/just ignore. Secondly learn to accept correction gracefully when u are wrong no one is always right, except God. |
Woh! U amaze me. When you started with the travel thing, I felt that was cheap, many people can easily read that, but when you started getting into details (which are true), I started to wonder where you saw all these in the picture. I am a Christian and I relate with lots of Pastor, but nobody seem to have come this close without relating with me for a long time.Hi Canuck, were u so busy or u delibrately ignore my quote above? Anyway thanks. By the way if u can give me the negative part too I wont mind. |
how the hell did i respond like him? na wa oooooo
You accused him of attacking the whole Ibos probably base on his personal experience with few Ibo girls. I agree with you. But you fell into his level of reasoning by attacking the edo girls, then you become as guilty as he is. (mind u I am not from edo) |
@ Kanya West Please take it easy o. I know lots of Ibo girls that are far from those descriptions you gave @ Lion & Amaka If you respond the way Kanya West responds, they will not know the difference between you too @ Post I like Yoruba girls not for beauty or manners but for their intelligence and attitude to life (Simple is d word) |
Cant believe I actually read through all these. beautiful! This has just make my sunday. I believe there is hope for Naija, with people discussing and analysing naija issues like this. Well done guys. I choose to be a good listener for now. |

Nigeria and South Africa are to sign visa exemption for its government officials as part of efforts aimed at strengthening relations between the two countries next month. Disclosing this during a dinner at the Parliament of South Africa in Cape Town to mark the end of celebration marking the 10th anniversary of South Africa –Nigeria Bi-National Commission (BNC), Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, said the signing ceremony of the MoU would take place in Abuja when the Vice president of South Africa, Hon. Kgalema Motlanthe, visits Nigeria on November 13, under the auspices of BNC. He said the BNC, which has had a chequered history, made a significant progress in the last 10 years with 22 out of 33 MoUs signed, stressing that the two countries needed to work together for the development of Africa as the world looked up to the two for solutions to myriad of problems of the African continent. http://www.tribune.com.ng/31102009/news/news11.html |
Buhari: We are on a Rescue Mission From Ali M. Ali in Abuja, 10.29.2009 The emerging coalition of opposition forces in the country met again yesterday in Abuja under the auspices of the National Democratic Initiative (NDI) with the chairman of the forum and former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), saying the time was ripe to halt Nigeria’s drift. He said the coalition was on a rescue mission. As earlier reported by THISDAY that the group was said to float a political organisation to be known as National Demo-cratic Movement (NDM), the coalition resolved to transmute into NDM and work together to rescue the nation from what it called an imminent collapse. In his opening speech entitled “Nigeria: Time to Arrest the Drift,” Buhari appraised the country’s steady decline in the last 10 years and declared that as conscientious citizens, the group was determined to change the direction the nation is headed, which he described as dangerous. Buhari had contested the 2003 and 2007 presidential elections on the platform of the All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) but lost on both occasions. He alleged that the elections were characterised by large scale rigging and irregularities and went on to challenge the outcome of the polls at the election tribunal but lost. The former head of state told the cream of the opposition bigwigs gathered at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja venue of the meeting that change by its very nature does not happen by itself but has to be brought about. He said the group is ready to begin exploring ways of peacefully bringing about the needed change. In attendance at the meeting were Chief Olu Falae, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, Prof. Pat Utomi, Dr Usman Bugaje, Alhaji Abba Kyari, Alhaji Saidu Barda, Great Ogboru, Tonye Princewill, Dr Suleman Kumo, Chief Rasaq Lawal, Gen. Bashir Magashi, Dr. Mike Ahamba, Chief Dapo Sarumi and Lawal Jaafar Isa among others. Buhari berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government for its failure to ensure law and order in the country and provide a secure environment, noting that kidnapping and ritual killings have become the order of the day. He also lamented the prevalent decay in infrastructure, the collapse of education, parlous state of our roads, poor water supply, epileptic power supply and endemic corruption, which he said had collectively constituted a threat to the survival of the state. He said: “, no conscientious citizen can remain unconcerned in the face of what is happening today. That is why we are alarmed, but we are tired of sitting and agonizing over what is happening. Therefore, we are here because we want to see change in the direction in which this nation is going. But by its very nature, change will not come by itself; it has to be brought about. So we are all gathered here today to begin exploring ways of bringing about that needed democratic change peacefully…” Buhari said nothing was working in the country, explaining that unemployment was heading for the roof tops while there were high inflation rate, low industrial capacity utilization and a poorly managed economy. “The bitter truth is that nothing is really working as it should in the country; and no one seems to care with unemployment high, inflation rate high, industrial capacity utilization at its lowest ebb. This is an economy with an automatic pilot without destination in sight. With our elections rigged, our legislators are very often more interested in the so-called constituency projects than making laws and our judiciary really afraid of its own independence. This is a polity already thrown to the dogs,’’ he said. The former head of state said the emerging coalition was committed to the principles of federalism and multi-party liberal social democracy and laissez-faire economic policy that is fully grounded in state welfarism. “On the issue of rule of law, we also say what they say, that is, we stand by the rule of law. But when we say it, we mean it and it is very different from what we see them do. We hold that for democracy to have any meaning, elections must not only be free and fair, votes cast must count and must be counted,’’ he said. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar described the coalition as patriotic nationalists, true democrats and reformers “who share a belief in good governance, social justice and rule of law”. He said despite the bleak present, “Nigeria’s best years are yet to come”. The former vice-president restated his belief in a two-party system as opposed to multiple parties outlining the inherent dangers in a multiparty system. “Multiple parties have led us in two unwholesome but related directions. One is that often one of the parties becomes so dominant and intoxicated with power and arrogance that it brings the country to the brink of complete collapse. The other, which is often the consequence of the former, is that some other parties recoil to become regional parties which exacerbate our regional, ethnic and religious differences. Both of these are dangerous for this country,” Atiku said. A communiqué after the meeting signed by the Director-General of Buhari Campaign Organization (TBO), Sule Yahaya Hamma, also stated that the coalition would set up two committees on contact and mobilization to mobilize groups with similar aims and objectives to harmonize their various positions. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=158365 |

I dont know how far this is true, but I read sometimes ago (sorry don’t have source now) that Atiku, Buhari, Falae are all not interested in being the flag-bearer again, but are more interested in creating another formidable political platform. Now my take remains, if we don’t have another big party, Nigeria might become a one-party country. Imagine PDP chairman saying PDP will rule for the next 60yrs, even when they have nothing to show for the past years. If PDP will continue to rule, the fact that there is a formidable party in the corner might ginger them to perform. Someone told me that if Yar’adua is nominated again for PDP, he will automatically win. It’s just horrible. I can’t imagine another 4 years for Yar’adua going at this pace. I also seriously think it will take another big party that can match PDP number for number, money for money and spread for spread to cub PDP election’s rigging. |
Nice one! Thank you for the posts. |
Recognise:The billionaire African diplomat Antonio Deinde Fernandez “The Central African Republic’s ambassador to the United Nations travels across the world in one of six private jets and enjoys being chauffeured around in a pink Rolls-Royce. When dining out, he takes over the entire restaurants to avoid encountering riffraff.” I wonder why this man's name is not such an household name in Nigeria. A country where being wealthy is highly celebrated. |
yeswecan:But don’t you think that PDP dominance is also not good for our democracy. May be with stronger opposition, any party in power will be result-oriented as in UK and US, knowing that if it doesn’t perform, the opposition will simply take over power. A strong opposition might also checkmate election malpractices. Looks like PDP is overconfident that there is no party that can match it in size. Nigeria needs a strong opposition party. |
I used to enjoy it as a kid, still indulge in it once in a while tho. |
Buhari, Atiku, Tinubu join forces against Yar’Adua FORMER Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former governors of Lagos and Sokoto states, Senator Bola Tinubu and Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, are set to announce a strategic collaboration agenda today ahead of the 2011 election. The new agenda, to be unveiled under the aegis of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), according to a spokesman of the leaders, Alhaji Sule Hamman, is aimed at redeeming Nigeria from total collapse before the next general election.Alhaji Hamman, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, ahead of the strategic meeting, said “Nigeria is only sure of its geographical attribute so far, while other qualities of nationhood, like effective and credible leadership and organised system of management are already missing.” He said that the former leaders had discovered that if men of their caliber refused to move to arrest the situation, “the geographical existence called Nigeria may disappear before 2011, in line with sad projections from some Western intellli-gence.” Hamman, who also mentioned the names of a former presidential candidate of the Allaince for Democracy (AD) and the All Peoples Party (APP) in the 1999 presidential election, Chief Olu Falae, former governor of Cross Rivers state, Mr. Donald Duke, as participants, also named Afenifere chieftain, Chief Supo Shonibare, former Minister of Foreign affairs, Chief Tom Ikimi and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Chief John Nwodo, among the participants. He stated that Atiku and Bafarawa recently visited Buhari, where they rubbed minds on the way forward for the country and agreed on the formation of the National Democratic Initiative. He said that the NDI would transform into the NDM, adding that the leaders and members of the group would decide whether it will eventually transform into a new political party or whether they will use one of the existing political parties to prosecute the 2011 election. http://www.tribune.com.ng/28102009/news/news11.html I know Nigeria needs another very strong political party besides PDP, but will this attempt work? Can we trust this new party in formation to do better than PDP? |
Babasexy:You really have to be very careful you are not deceived. like dreeldee said, you might not be too sure that the visa they will put on your passport is genuine. Do you know how many people who got to the airport only to find out that the visa on their passport is fake. |
Please I think this is more than meet the eyes. Sanusi said to the national assembly that what he did was not a bailout and he has no plan to sell these banks. He said he did not need appropriation/ approval from national assembly because there is no law that says he need to do that before he lends money to bank. Simply put…that is his job. Now, saying the shareholders have lost their funds in these banks means these banks now belong to CBN, which means CBN has bought over these banks. So what will happen next is that some people will now buy back these banks from CBN, and these people are likely to be Northerners…So those claiming he is acting a script may have a point because I am beginning to believe it too. |
olymyk:It also looks to me that you have a problem with poverty. If you don’t have any money, why will you think of traveling in the first place. Or how do you intend to pay for your flight tickets and other expenses. Nobody, not even the embassy says you must be super rich before you can travel out. Also the embassies allow you to use a sponsor. The 1st time I applied for visa I had less than 400K in my account, But I had someone who was ready to stand as my sponsor. And I submitted his genuine bank account |
