The prince grabbed headlines in recent days by vowing a return to "moderate Islam." He also suggested that his father's generation had steered the country down a problematic path and that it was time to "get rid of it." "We only want to go back to what we were: Moderate Islam that is open to the world, open to all religions," he said in the ornate grand hall of the Ritz-Carlton. "We will not waste 30 years of our lives in dealing with extremist ideas. We will destroy them today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ub7l1D7_B2I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2BxGOdYm8U Can a head live without a body? The answer should be simple: yes, but only for a little while. Scientists say that the brain continues to function for about two minutes after the heart stops. But can a lopped off head continue to survive after being completely severed from the body? Many would say no. However, it was widely reported in the media, that a Soviet scientist in the late 1920s by the name of Sergei Brukhonenko actually managed to keep the severed head of a dog alive. The dog’s head was reportedly connected to a primitive heart-lung machine called an “autojector” (or that’s what the inventor dubbed it). The device supposedly gives the head everything it needs to maintain life. Below is an illustrative video of how it’s meant to work (the actual video follows). Brukhonenko presented a similar experiment in 1928 at an international scientific conference, at the Third Congress of Psysiologists of the USSR. However, his science has often been questioned. As proof of his dog experiment and to show that the head wasn’t just part of the corpse, a video follows where Brukhonenko does a series of tests. He shines a light in dog’s eyes making it blink. He hits the table with a hammer and the dog’s head reacts. And last but not least, to make things even more gross, he feeds the dog head a small piece of cheese, which lands on the table at the other end of the esophageal tube. Enjoy! From that day forward controversy and speculation traveled the world over. Scientists divided in two camps: those who accepted the medical possibility and those who were skeptical. The latter suggest that the film may be just pure Soviet propaganda or simply medically impossible. What is interesting however, is that many physicians actually gave credit to Brukhonenko’s experiment, legitimizing the whole affair. So what do you think? Will we be able to replicate those live-heads off Futurama? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergei_Brukhonenko https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experiments_in_the_Revival_of_Organisms http://scribol.com/science/biology/how-russian-scientists-kept-a-dogs-severed-head-alive/

If Yamaha’s three wheeled motorcycle concept raised one of your eyebrows, hopefully their four wheeled offering will raise your other one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MxSwgpMS6U While its MWT-9 three-wheeled concept was making headlines at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show last week, Yamaha discreetly released a video of another similar prototype, the OR2T,it has in development. The OR2T has four wheels and suspension technology evolving from the 2007 Tesseract concept model. Instead of having suspension units on each wheel controlled centrally by a swing arm, here we have a huge vertical arm per wheel connecting it to its own independent shock absorber and linkage. As an evolution of the Tesseract’s design, the centrally-positioned shock of the 2007 concept model has been substituted by two shocks, one for each wheel. The OR2T is referred to as a research and development prototype, as the video that Yamaha has just released offers a glimpse of this LMW during testing. Powered once again by what appears to be the MT-09 triple, this new prototype sports a considerably smaller wheel track in comparison to the Tesseract. Yamaha now has two different LMW technologies in development, one already in production and another on the way. Both the MTW-9 and the OR2T concepts are much more than 3D renders or exhibition mock-ups,but are fully working prototypes. https://autojosh.com/yamahas-or2t-leaning-four-wheeler-rd-prototype-hits-track/ |

Last month, the Russian military unveiled another Ratnik suit that includes an exo-skeleton, designed to boost strength and stamina, body armor and even a watch capable of surviving a nuclear blast. The all-black kit also has a Stormtrooper-style helmet with a tinted glass visor and a mini task light poking out of the side. Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces Col. Gen. Oleg Salyukov said in an interview in September; 'We are completing the scientific research on creating the future layout of the Ratnik-3 combat gear. 'The implementation of the project will allow to increase the performance of a soldier by 1.5 times in completing various tasks,' he said in the interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda paper. Wearers are protected from the sudden heat of explosions such as grenades and mines though the shock wave from an explosion could still harm them, scientists claim. The report says the the Ratnik kit comprises five integrated systems that include life support, command and communication, engaging, protection and energy saving subsystems. It is designed to be used round-the-clock in all weather conditions. 'The Ratnik comprises a total of 59 items including various bulletproof vests and protective helmets, a combat one-piece garment, a headset with active protection, protective glasses, a grenade launcher, assault rifles, sniper rifles, munition, a combat knife, round-the-clock reconnaissance devices and unified optical and thermal imaging sights,' it says. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5039329/Russia-creates-Superman-suit-means-soldiers-walk-fire.html Lalasticlala Mynd44

Russian scientists claim to have created a 'Superman suit' that lets soldiers walk through explosions and searing fire unscathed. Made of a heat-resistant 'aramid' material that can withstand 30 seconds of direct contact from flames, the suit could give Russian soldiers a huge advantage in battlefields of the future. The heat-proof suit is still in the testing phase and is expected to be ready for use by 2020, when it may also be available for purchase by civilians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ4h6HkL7NA Footage released shows a man wearing the suit at an unspecified test facility. He appears to walk through flames and stands right next to an explosion. Wearers are protected from the sudden heat of explosions such as grenades and mines, although the shock wave from an explosion could still harm them, scientists claim. The 'Superman suit' is part of Ratnik, Russia's future infantry combat system. The programme develops combat gear which aims to create the next generation of body armour on the battlefield. Ratnik suits already have body armour, thermal and night vision monoculars and other high-tech gear. They are made of of strong synthetic aramid fibres that are commonly used on ships and planes. The programme also focuses on making sure the soldier is in touch with comrades via built-in radios. Russia says Ratnik suits were used in combat in 2016 though no details were given. Another feature of the system is a built-in GPS chip, showing commanders where each soldier is at any given time. The unveiling of the suit comes after Russia staged extensive military training exercises on both sea and land in what was thought to be a show of strength by President Vladimir Putin. |

Also, the bus is not yet capable of avoiding obstacles on its own. In case of an emergency, such as a car wrongly parked on the route, a human can take control of the bus by using a joystick. Deutsche Bahn aims to develop the autonomous minibus further in the future, where it will act like a private car service to pick up passengers upon request from their home through an app. It could also collect other travellers en route who also require the service. While EasyTen is the first vehicle of its kind to hit the roads in Germany, the rail company plans to release more similar buses from 2018 in several German towns and cities, such as Hamburg. German transport company Deutsche Bahn trialled the self-driving vehicle on Wednesday 25/10/2017 , delivering townspeople on a 700-metre route between the train station, the town centre, and the Birnbacher baths. Designed by French startup company EasyMile, the electric vehicle, called EasyTen autonomously navigated its way through the municipality of Bad Birnbach by way of sensors, lasers and GPS systems which can detect obstacles and activate brakes. |
Electric Cars might be too quiet to be safe for pedestrians or cyclist, especially those who are vision impaired,so companies and government are trying to fix that now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4cjPk8mqEM?t=25 All electric cars will require sound generators at low speeds from 2021,and Nissan has revealed what its models will sound like in the future. The familiar sound of a car’s engine on the street could be replaced by a futuristic sound ripped straight out of science fiction. The intriguing noise, dubbed ’Canto’, will be the sound indicator in all of Nissan’s future electrified vehicles. The futuristic sound was unveiled to the public at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. ‘Canto’ is derived from Latin for ‘I sing’, and seems an appropriate name for the new sound given its unusual melodic qualities. Canto will vary depending on whether the vehicle is accelerating, decelerating or backing up,and it'll work up to speeds of up to 20 to 30 kph,” or about 12.5 to 18.5 miles per hour, “depending on marketplace requirements. The level of the sound will be clearly audible, without being overly disturbing to pedestrians, residents and passengers. EU and US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration require vehicle manufacturers to fit artificial sound generators on new types of electric and hybrid electric vehicles under 19 miles per hour from 2019,but doesn’t prescribe what the sound should be. And by 2021 all new electric and hybrid electric vehicles on sale will have to have sound generators. Cars like the Nissan Leaf SUV revealed as the IMx concept at Tokyo will get the new noise. https://autojosh.com/heres-nissans-electric-cars-will-sound-like-future-youll-hear-coming/ Cc Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

Buyers of the latest trucks from Russian automobile maker were surprised to find a vintage computer game on the dashboard. The company explained that it was included as one of several tests for the computer equipment in the Gazelle Next series of vehicles, which includes trucks and minibuses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmVoadPVzKs In a video above, a driver of a Russian GAZelle Next shows viewers how to access the game on the dashboard through a series of lever movements and button turns. The game appears in the center of the dashboard and even has a soundtrack that plays throughout. While finding the game, the driver describes to the viewers the exact steps it takes for Tetris to appear. The process appears to be :1) Turn the ignition on, 2) start the car and activate the right turn indicator three times.3) Click the trip computer reset twice, then push the clutch pedal five times.4) Finally, the driver has to rev the engine to 2,000rpm while turning on the left indicator. After all of the steps are completed, the Tetris game appears on screen for drivers to play. Tetris can only be set up on the car’s dashboard during the factory check up,so the company has allayed any potential concerns about road safety. "It's not possible to start the game when the vehicle is in motion, so this function doesn't affect safety," the manufacturer said. This isn't the first time engineers have hidden something in code for drivers to find in their vehicles. The Tesla Model S was found to have rainbow lights hidden inside a charging port, and drivers can also access a series of games in the vehicle. Easter eggs allow Tesla drivers to virtually turn their car into a copy of James Bond's Lotus submarine, or drive along the 'Rainbow Road' from the Mario Kart video game. https://autojosh.com/russian-carmaker-gaz-installs-tetris-game-dashboard-latest-trucks/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

The engine is able to produce more than 20,000lbs of thrust, equivalent to 54,000bhp, or the combined output of 360 family cars. At full speed Bloodhound SSC will cover a mile (1.6km) in 3.6 seconds, that's 4.5 football pitches laid end to end per second. The Bloodhound, which combines technology from motorsport, space travel and a fighter jet and cost £30 million ($40 million) to build, did its “slow speed” trial at Newquay Airport, Cornwall. It will try to smash the landspeed record of 763mph in 2019 on a specially cleared desert course in South Africa. Driven by Royal Air Force Wing commander Andy Green, Bloodhound SSC made two trips down Newquay's 1.7-mile (2.7-km) runway. Green is the current holder of the world land speed record, and the first person to break the sound barrier on land. The thousands of spectators were treated to the ear-splitting sound of the vehicle, as well as the bright orange flame from the Eurofighter EJ200 jet engine. “We did two back-to-back 200 mph runs in a five-ton car,” Green said after stepping out of the cockpit.“It felt like about eight seconds, which was what we were expecting.”Although the test runs only used the vehicle's jet engine, for the real record attempt it will also have a cluster of three rockets similar to those used by the European Space Agency mounted on the back of the car. These will accelerate the car from 650mph (1060kph),which will be achieved with the jet engine alone to more than 1,000mph. This is all knowledge needed to go 800mph in 2019, and then up to 1,000mph in 2020,when the rocket technology becomes available. This is currently being developed by the Norwegian aerospace and defence company Nammo. https://autojosh.com/watch-rocket-powered-carthe-bloodhound-ssc-go-0-200-mph-8-sec/Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

"We put airbags, which are mainly employed inside the car, on its exterior, such as its hood or fender, to protect the entire body,"Takashi Ishikawa, managing officer of Toyoda Gosei, said on Wednesday. Toyoda Gosei, a manufacturer of rubber and plastic automotive parts and LEDs, came up with the idea for the concept car in 2013. The company said on its website the rubber is able to move with electric power and change the shape of the car body. LED lights projected onto the rubber also allow the driver to communicate with pedestrians and other vehicles, the company said. "In the event of contact with a pedestrian, the soft body serves a safety function in absorbing the impact," the company said. The company hopes to introduce Flesby II by 2030. https://autojosh.com/worlds-first-dent-proof-car-wows-crowds-tokyo-motor-show/Credits: http://www.mirror.co.uk/tech/amazing-dent-proof-car-wows-11418340 Lalasticlala Mynd44 |

Engineers used pressure maps to establish a “perch pattern”, the data enabling them to test the wear and tear of materials using the robotic bottom or “Robutt”,to mimic the most common paths. Watch the “Robutt” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlK1rbpuyAA “From the first moment we get into a car, the seat creates an impression of comfort and quality,”said Svenja Froehlich, a durability engineer, at Ford’s European HQ, in Cologne, Germany. “Previously, we used pneumatic cylinders that simply moved up and down. With the ‘Robutt’, we are now able to replicate very accurately how people really behave.” Old cars used humans to test seats Seats in early generation Fiestas were tested by actual humans getting in and out of the car. But while it's accurate, the thought of sitting in and out of a car thousands of time is torture, plus a killer for your back. Based on an average-sized large man, the “Robutt” was used to simulate ten years of driving in just three weeks as part of testing for the new Fiesta,by sitting down and getting up 25,000 times. The new test is now being rolled out for all Ford vehicles in Europe. https://autojosh.com/this-robot-is-taught-to-copy-motion-of-human-bum-to-ensure-seats-are-built-to-last/ Credits: ford europe Lalasticlala Mynd44 |
