I dont have an English comprehension problem. I was simply asking you the simple question that would be asked in court to rubbish the so callled nysc act before the case would be thrown out.

This is not a qualification issue
It is a criminality issue
Failure to serve is punishable by prison. It is a CRIME.
If you never knew that learn it today.
Just like some countries have compulsory military service with prison for defaulters so also for NYSC. It is mandatory for eligible people and not serving attracts 1 year in prison
0monnak0da:
That is beer parlour logic.
Go and read the NYSC act 13(2)
You cannot Dump your certificate. Once you graduate before the age of 30 you MUST serve.
It is not optional
Not only must you serve failure to serve is punishable by prison.
So what if I dont graduate? So every non graduate in Nigeria is a criminal because they havent served?

Are you 100% sure of the emboldened? Because i very much doubt it.
For elective positions like president, gobernors, senators, reps, and even non elective ministerial positions, minimum requirement in terms of qualification is SSCE.

seunmsg:
Very wrong. Any Nigerian that graduates before the age of 30 is under legal compulsion to do NYSC except such a person had served in the military or police force before graduating. Skipping NYSC is a criminal offense punishable by law. Criminal case will be instituted against her immediately she lands in Nigeria by SERAP and even political opponents. Why did you think APC screened out Shitu?

I think this is the time for all of us to demand for the amendment of that silly NYSC act and not start looking for loopholes for people we love. The NYSC table that fell Kemi Adeosun still have so many people on it. It will be over sensationalized in Ngozi Okonjo Iweala's case if true.
agabusta:
You are right. But what a smart opponent will do is just to instigate a case against them that they have committed a criminal offence by not submitting themselves for National service as demanded by Nigerian laws.

The outcome of the case is what will damage the affected person's candidacy.
Being a graduate does not automatically make one a criminal simply because they don't have NYSC. I believe that is only necessary if you are vying for a position that requires your degree certificate (e.g. head of parastatals, public enterprises, civil service positions). If I dump my degree certificates and tender only my SSCE result as my highest qualification, I have no case to answer to anyone. This would be a very simple issue for the court to clarify if any so called political opponent decides to raise dust; this is very simple logic and the case would be thrown out sane day.

Kemi's case was different, she had a problem because she tendered a degree certificate and then submitted a fake NYSC document. She was simply bullied out of power. If she decided to fight it, she could have found a way out; just that the fake certificate made things a bit messy for her.

This issue has been trashed here many times before, if I'm not mistaken.

Okonjo Iweala, Allison Maduaeke, Utomi and a host of other public offiers did not serve, DESPITE BEING ELIGIBLE TO DO SO.

In the case of the first two ladies, it was even raised by the Senate during their screening, bit they were still confirmed as ministers.

The law is clear. If one graduates before 30yers, you must undergo the compulsory one year service.
The minimum requirement to contest for elective positions or to be appointed a minister in Nigeria is WAEC result. If lack of NYSC certificate becomes an issue for those you listed above, all they need do is just present their WAEC results.
PoliticsRe: If You're Still Thinking Buhari Has Any Chance In 2019 Election This Is For You by obailala(m): 8:45am On Oct 08, 2018
EmekaMD:
Have you ever heard anybody who didn't vote Buhari in 2015 now saying he's gonna vote him in 2019? Little or non

Now have you heard anybody who voted for Buhari in 2015 and have now sworn to kick him out in 2019? The answer is yes.. about 50% of the people ..

So. The 12million people who didn't vote Bubu in 2015 will not vote for him again still

And out of the 15million that voted for him in 2015 he is losing 7.5million of them..

This translates to to Atiku getting 12million +7.5million..

Do the maths and start sending in your good wishes to incoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar..
Too many kindergarten election analysts parading themselves all over the place.

In 2015, despite not being in power, Buhari had 15m votes; in 2019, the most he will lose from that figure is 3-5 million, and most of the lost supporters would never vote for PDP, let alone Atiku. Something else you fail to realise is the fact that APC didnt exist in the SS and SE in 2015; but it now has an established presence. If the total numbers pulled by APC in the SS and SE in 2015 was 300k, with APC's current structure and presence in these zones, that number will grow to over a million in 2019.

For the SW, they always sit on the fence; results from the SW would be 50-50, or if anyone wins, the margin would be very insignificant (Osun election result will be the template). Despite whatever performance of apc, the SW understands that even if Atiku may make a better president, it wouldn't be to their political advantage to abandon their beloved APC and be subject to PDP. The SW also understands that if they are patient with PMB and wait it out till 2023, the presidency would most certainly return to them. So if you think the SW where apc holds strong in all 6 states will turn around and vote PDP enmass, you are certainly a naive analyst.

As far as 2019 is concerned, due to the penetration of APc into the ss/se, and the fact that pdp is still fielding another aboki, pdp may not even get up to the number of votes it gathered in 2015 due to voter apathy (many wouldn't bother themselves to come out and vote since its aboki vs aboki). Ipob effects again might force certain numbers to boycott elections. And finally, the votes in the south would be seriously shared; at least 500k potential Pdp votes would be lost to SDP (donald duke), YPP (Muoghalu), AAC (Sowore) and ANN (Durotoye).

For the core north (Ne/nw), Apc may not get the same number of votes it got in 2015 too, but the difference would likely be insignificant. For the SW and north central, the results would still be 50-50; things may slightly tilt in favour of pdp in the middle belt but that would only be in benue and plateau and maybe taraba.

All in all, I woukd like to see an Atiku presidency, but you just cant get too excited after the kindergarten analysis you gave above bro; it's still a very tight election but when you then factor in the power of incumbency by apc, you might just have to stop being too excited for now ro avoid high BP in 2019. Atiku has one hell of work to do if he must dislodge an incumbent.

Peter Obi!

If Atiku picks his vice from the SW, that would be automatic victory for Buhari. Today the SE stands as the greatest opposition to Buhari and APC. Disregarding the SE and picking a running mate from the SW would be a very distasteful insult to the SE which would consequently result in widespread voter apathy.

Congratulations Atiku.

Most Nigerians are not impressed by the performance of buhari, the so called corruption-fight is a big scam use to hoodwink Nigerians, if akpabio, tinubu , and a whole lots of corrupt people both in APC and PDP are walking free then who has buhari been prosecuting, even the few in jails are buying nomination form from prison, it's an understatement to say even obasanjo anti corruption is far better than this, I will personally cut some slack on whatever they accuse Atiku of since the APC camp is worse,

I voted against Jonathan not because I think buhari is the best but I'm simply not impressed with Jonathan performance same thing repeating itself, I am not impressed by buhari, I can't really see any economic blueprint from him so I will rather vote next most feasible person to take over from him

Nothing personal, tribal or religious, just want the best for my country

You've said it all, Buhari's leadership has been disappointing to say the least; so I guess the next way forward is to Atikulate something new. It would however be painful seeing PDP take over at the centre again. So I guess one would have to just abstain from this election.

Interesting!... Now the 2019 election will be interesting. Atiku has struggled for this consistently for 15 years and now he's finally come close to his dreams
For some reason, he seems to be the best candidate out of the others presented by PDP. Although it's acknowledged he's just another crook, but amongst all the crooks (and lifeless folks) across political parties, he seems to be someone I feel may be able to make a difference as president. It's just sad that he's the candidate of the killer party PDP; kaii! How can I possibly support PDp? undecided

sad As a born again Christian, I'm ashamed people still attend this man's church or seek marital counselling in his church despite his failed marriage. The bible says in the book of Psalms that a man shall leave his parents and stick to any amount of women he desires. Yet this man heads a church and he couldn't resolve his marital crisis to the extent that his Ex wife doesn't deem it fit to attend their daughters marriage yet this unforgiving pretenders sold millions of copies of Rhapsody of realities to millions of gullible Christians. Even if he was a chronic womanizer as alleged by the bitter wife, they couldn't shield their swords for their daughter's sakehuh I'm sometimes ashamed to be a Christian. Hate them or not Muslims are better than we Christians cos they practice what they preach sad
From all indications, it appears the woman is the one having a grudge against the rest of the family. It seems this particular daughter is closer to the dad, and the mum must have been begged to attend the wedding but she refused. You can't crucify the man for that.

I have never said Mr A was perfect. Far from it.
Being called a "democrat" does not, of course mean one is perfect. The United States is a democracy but the black man in the US will tell you otherwise- police brutality, institutionalised racism, prison industrial complex etc.
However, comparatively, one can easily place democracts and military men in different groups, in the Nigerian context. The military man, for instance, has no qualms in sending soldiers to brutalise civilians, as in Odi, Zaki Biam and Operation Python Dance in the South East. The democrat, however, will be hesitant in applying such despotic force because he is not a military man.
It is that simple.

Nigeria should be an evolving democracy- if it is to grow in democracy- where the next regime displays more commitment to democratic tenets than the previous one. Today, as widely agreed, it is not the case. The present regime has even boasted that the rule of law is secondary to what is called, "national security"- that amorphous, self-defining line.

As for asking for the "change", I think it is a fair question to ask. Even core APC persons have and are still asking the same thing.
Your point is duly noted. But I hope you got my own point?... the narrative should be better articulated next time; the narrative repeated on this thread by several persons makes it seem as though we had anything close to a democracy before now. That is obviously not the case.

Hence people were swindled with “Change”.
A worse Change. An economically debilitating “change”.
Haha... the all too typical response one gets whenever the deliberate deceit is busted; "where is the change?"

The point I was trying to make was simple, is it too difficult for people to do the honourable thing by speaking the truth?

If you acknowledge that Mr A was filthy before Mr B, why then do you keep twisting the narrative by claiming Mr B is the inventor of this filth?.... If you acknowledge that the exact undemocratic events we see today also happened under GEJ, why then do you keep peddling the lie that we had a democracy yesterday but the democract is being killed by buhari today?.... How exactly do you feel when you knowingly tell that lie with a straight face?

The same GEJ that told the world that 16 was greater than 19 and prevented Amaechi from being pronounced winner of the NGF elections?.... Lol... One thing is acknowledged here; that the protest rally was orderly and calm, and there was no attempt by thugs like Dino to push down a police barrier. The difference between the protest in 2014 and the one of yesterday is crystal clear.

Meanwhile for those shouting about "Buhari killing democracy", a lot of these folk are suffering from self inflicted amnesia because there's nothing happening today which didnt happen under GEJ and OBJ. So in reality, Nigeria has NEVER had a real democracy.

One person I feel sorry for in yesterdays events is Tambuwal though, oga was teargased under GEJ's so called democracy while he was speaker, now he's being teargased under Buhari's democracy as a governor. grin

PoliticsRe: Atiku Banking On The Next 48 Hours To Beat Tambuwal To Pdp's Presidential Ticket by obailala(m): 11:40am On Oct 05, 2018
Agritech:
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is still very confident of his chances despite the glaring wish of Nyesom Wike, Governor Rivers State, for Aminu Tambuwal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, to emerge the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP presidential primary holds on Saturday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State — a venue that was single-handedly picked by Wike, who is currently the ex-ruling party’s financier.
A source very close to Wike told SaharaReporters on Thursday that Wike intends to “do everything” to ensure Tambuwal emerges victor.
“The idea is to give everything to help Tambuwal get the ticket,” said the source, who asked not to be named.
“And this shouldn’t be too difficult because Wike controls PDP now. He is the biggest spender; he is the moneybag. He is the one holding PDP financially. He is backing Tambuwal and he will succeed in it.”
SaharaReporters understands that despite all his presidential posturing, Bukola Saraki and his team understand that their chances are limited, and the plan, in any case, was always to make a statement because the presidential ticket is out of reach.
“Saraki will not get it because he can’t go far, and we know all of these things,” said a source from Saraki’s camp. “I think Saraki is just trying to make a statement. We know he doesn’t stand a chance of getting the ticket. It is between Atiku and Tambuwal.”
Atiku, meanwhile, is “feeling very good” and is "banking on the next 48 hours" to turn the tide against frontrunner Tambuwal.
“The assumption has always been that Tambuwal will easily get the ticket,” a source in Atiku’s camp told SaharaReporters, “but I believe a lot of things have taken place in the last 48 hours in such a way that events may not play out as people think. You just watch out what will happen in the next 48 hours. And I can tell you that for now, we’re looking very good.”
Pressed on what exact strategy would be explored in the 48 hours, he said: "No chance. No chance. Don't let me jinx it. YOu will know at the eleventh hour."

http://saharareporters.com/2018/10/04/exclusive-atiku-banking-next-48-hours-beat-tambuwal-pdps-presidential-ticket
Tambuwal winning that ticket would be automatic victory for Buhari.
