Are you also aware that up to N100bn was budgeted in 2016 for the Lagos-calabar and lagos-kano standard rail lines by buhari, an amount which is already larger than the total spent by GEJ (less than N60bn) for the abuja to kaduna rail?... may I also remind you that Buhari's govt even paid up the balance of that N60bn (up to N18bn) for the abuja to kaduna rail to be completed and commisioned today.

With the above, do you still think buhari is doing this only because it is almost complete?... or do you still really think buhari deserves zero commendation for progressing a good project which has been in the books since 2006?

The first STANDARD GAUGE rail built in Nigeria is the Ajaokuta to warri rail built by OBJ to connect Delta Steel Company Warri and Ajaokuta Steel Company; that line isn't functional yet because the steel companies are still dead.

The second STANDARD GAUGE rail built in Nigeria is this Abuja-Kaduna rail which is being commissioned today as the FIRST commercial use standard rail in Nigeria. All the other trains you have seen (including the one I posted and those 'fine' pictures you posted above) all run on refurbished pre-1960 narrow gauge rails; hence they are pathetically slow (travel time from Lagos to Kano is 2 days) and the trains keep derailing like no man's business.

Like I mentioned earlier, you unfortunately are still ignorant of the difference between the new standard gauge rails and narrow gauge rails; to you, train na train..

Kudos to GEJ for building the Kaduna-Abuja rail. Glory must be given to the regime that financed the bulk of the project. But you would be living in unnecessary self denial if you claim OBJ's regime did not initiate the Nigerian Rail Modernisation Projects. At least I remember the original contracts with CCECC were signed as far back as 2006, even though we all know the job was cancelled for review after Yaradua took over.

Meanwhile just FYI, OBJ initiated this project by signing the contract for it and arranging the loan deal with the Chinese. GEJ eventually released the FG's part of the funds for the project to commence. Total project was valued at about $874m, the Chinese brought $500m, while the FG paid the remaining $374m (roughly N60bn).

May I remind you that out of that ~N60bn which was the FG's share, the old president (who you claim did nothing) had to also pay off a balance of about N18bn in the 2016 budget before the project could be finalised and commissioned today. May I also remind you that that the old president who you claim is doing absolutely nothing is the one who gets to service the Chinese loan which represents almost 60% of the entire project cost. Finally may i also remind you that the old president who you claim is doing nothing has just budgeted over N100bn for the Lagos-Kano and Lagos-Calabar rails in 2016 alone, this amount alone already trumps what GEJ paid for these rails.

Thank you GEJ for at least not squandering the money meant for this and putting the blame on governors.

Long overdue.... Peaceful ND states need more of this. I'm yet to understand why Akwa-ibom state doesn't yet have a refinery; if an individual can build a refinery, I wonder why a state like Akwa-Ibom for instance cant secure loans to build a state owned refinery to boost its revenue.
