Where are you driving to? So since the oil price drop..
Nigeria should go and die
What's is the position of the govt and his policy to help the situation?
We should wait till oil price comes up..
The results of whatever efforts that can be taken to revive the economy can only be seen in several years from now. You cannot diversify an economy in 1 year. Nigeria had at least the last 16 years to get off the 100% oil dependency but it did nothing, anybody expecting miracles in 1 year must be a joker.

It was never turned over to anybody unless you have any handover documentation to back it up with.

It was a FG airport from begining till now.

You can not even give us any sane and rational reason why a state airport magically turned into a FG airport.

Osun is building an international aiport from scratch, but it's never going to be a FG airport.

jigawa state built the best state airport so far and it remains a state airport and so it shall remain.

So please tell us why it's a different story with imo airport and why a state airport is turned into a FG airport.

Even if it was a state airport which it's not, why was it turned over to the FG?

Because the folks in the SE are too lazy, clueless and incompetent to manage a small village airport?
Dude, resorting to ethnic/tribal insults and bashing over a simple argument on the history of an airport speaks volumes of the shallow fabric you are made of. I clearly now understand the origin of your strange logic.

Nope, you guys should learn to read and comprehend; I never said Rochas was a saint, I only compared him with his predecessors. As messy as Rochas' administration may have been so far, it still beats the 12 combined years of Udenwa and Ohakim in terms of development.

How has okorocha the northern governor and his APC boys benefited them ? This is the same man building schools in kano as imo state governor, built a christmas tree with 600million in the midst of abject poverty and made a mess of sam mbakwe's legacies.
I would expect them being cerebral voters to go for APGA. Obiano though a mediocre when compared with world standards is currently the best of the crop.
Hate him all you like for some of his indiscretions (or for the fact that he joined apc and booted gej out), but the sacred fact is that the 5-year 'messy rule' of Rochas is still several mile better than the combined 12 year sojourn of Udenwa and Ohakim in Imo state. This is a fact and sensible people of Imo state know this fact; the only people who dispute this are those who hate rochas with a passion simply because he joined apc.

That airport was built by a military administrator under military rule hence FG hence the airport remaining property of the FG.

Where is the sense and wisdom in building any airport with your own money and then turn around and hand it over to the FG.

Tell us why the airport is today federally owned.
Lol.. very amusing as you keep turning simple logic on its head. It is on record that the airport was built by a state government using state funds; whatever agreement or deal which was struck later for the FG to take over the airport is inconsequential. What matters is that the airport was originally built by the state government using Imo state funds, unlike other airports across the country at the time which were clearly built by the FG. We can go on and on, but facts are sacred and cannot be changed.

What happened? The state sold the airport to the FG or the FG just sent the military to Imo state to commandeer the airport and made it a FG airport?
The terms of transfer of ownership of the airport are unknown to me, that isn't what this discussion is all about. The point here is simple and indisputable, Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri (a.k.aImo State Airport) is the first state built airport in Nigeria.

It was built by the military administrator of the state under military rule which means it was built by the FG hence the airport belonging to the FG since day one. The FG can not take over what belongs to any state in Nigeria.
Under military rule are you suggesting we didn't have 3 tiers of government?... Something built by a military administrator of a state using state funds, you claim it is a federal project because it was under military rule; this your logic is quite weird.

It was built my the military administration during military rule which makes it a FG built airport hence the FG remaining the owner and operator.

.
I think the comprehension of what's written shouldnt be too difficult. Imo state's airport (Sam Mbakwe airport) was the first STATE BUILT AND STATE OWNED AIRPORT IN NIGERIA. That the FG has taken over ownership doesnt mean it wasnt built by the state.

Similarly, the Imo State University (presently Abia State university after state division) was the first state owned university in Nigeria. Things like this is what is obtainable when forward-thinking and patriotic leaders like Sam Mbakwe are at the helm of affairs.

I totally agree with Adaure4ever, with the right leadership, right cooperation and coordination at the state and regional level, no region in Nigeria really needs the FG to progress. But a constant flow of bad leaders is what is responsible for the mess we have today across Nigeria. The problem is even further complicated by the fact that the useless leaders have somehow been able to successfully brainwash the people and divert the blame of their failures to FG or 'other tribes.'

Nah, not today, not now... I won't insult you, Your ignorance has done that to you already

If you could read effectively maybe you'd have had a better understanding of where am driving at

some countries have the luxury of experimenting with solar powered plants, others like Nigeria don't, we currently have an installed capacity of not more than 7,000MW. Instead of building small plants everywhere, why not build something large to generate what can supply the entire country for about 18 hours daily...

You can say all you want, but i won't stoop to your level of immaturity by trading insults... I'd rather trade opinions with you

Thanks
You should underatand that gas fired plants happen to be the cheapest source of power, this is the area Nigeria should concentrate on massively to first of all, achieve uninterrupted power supply before we start experimenting with the expensive renewable options. However, do you need to be reminded of the massive dissadvantage and setbacks of these gas plants in a jungle like Nigeria?

Like you rightly said, Nigeria has up to 7000mw intalled (and functional) capacity, gas constraints occasioned purely by demons blowing up pipelines everyday is the only reason Nigeria is still in darkness with less than 2000mw. A single large diameter pipeline (the escravos -Lagos line) supplies gas to all the largest power plants in the country. Since this year that pipeline has been blown countless times.

Any initiative to diversify power generation, even if it means a thousand 10mw plants is the way to go considering the peculiarities of the Nigerian situation.

- $2.1billion world bank loan.
- $850million Grants from UK, USA and Europe.
- Excluding crude oil sales, Joint Venture profits, Royalties, Income from Customs, NIMMSA, NPA, NACHO ......
- unknown amount recovered from looters
We've been through these arguments a lot on this site, it's somewhat meaningless to try and educate a person who is unable to learn. I would just drop a few points just for the sake of talking.

You mentioned $30bn, $2.5bn, 1.4bn, 4.65bn etc... All the amount you mentioned first of all, is just sufficient to meet up the import demand of 180 million Nigerians for barely 3 months. A student who has N10k in his account is far richer than a father of 5 who has N100k in his account. If you don't understand the meaning of this little analogy, then it is pointless for me to go on. May I also remind you that just a few years back as at 2010, Nigeria had well over $60billion total in the different reserves you pointed above, but even then, it was far from enough.

You mentioned 3 trillion in TSA, obviously you do not know what the TSA means, else you wouldn't be suggesting TSA funds as government reserves which the FG should just dip its hands into. You also mentioned recovered fund from looters, you need not act ignorant of the amount, it was mentioned just recently that only about seventy something biullion is the true cash recovered.

Then you mentioned money collected by FIRS etc, are you serious?... Are you aware these are moneys collected every year which makes part of the national budget?... You are obviously not aware these funds have reduced greatly year-on-year due to the recession.

If your salary was owed, then you have a genuine reason to make this meaningless comment. If no kilometer of road is tarred in 2016, then you would be making a point.

I dont need to remind you that no business man or investor takes his business or money to a land where there is no money. Even the woman hawking akara or oranges would prefer to walk through richer neighbourhoods in the hope of making more sales and more money. Nigeria loses 70% of its income because it foolishly and lazily exports only one item, but here we are, some persons are expecting things in the economy to remain the same. Sorry I forgot, Buhari is the one who dropped the oil prices from $120 to less than $50 and he's also the one blowing up pipelines to crash Nigeria's oil export by more than 50%. A lot might find this comment strange, but even N600 is extremely cheap for that journey and I totally doubt there would be any profit coming from running these trains at these jamboree prices. Train journeys (especially high speed very comfortable trains) should not be cheaper than road journeys if these our new trains must survive beyond 2 years. Government should even have no business running these trains, if the trains must survive and if their services must be efficient, the wise thing to do now is for the government to commission and handover the running of these trains to private investors.

A man who needs N10 to feed his family can survive comfortably on a salary of N20. But the same cannot be said for a time when the mans essential recurrent expenses are now in the range of N50.

Comparing the time of OBJ or IBB to the present date is meaningless; you should first ask yourself what the minimum wage or the total wage bill in 1992 was compared to today.

Talking about exchange rate which is driving most of the present economic stagnation, value of the naira is controlled by demand and supply of forex. Can you compare the demand for forex 10 years ago when only a microscopic few elite demanded it to the demand for forex today where even the lowest member of society holds a MasterCard or VisaCard in his pocket ordering even a handkerchief from abroad?

In summary, times have changed, so your comparison is baseless.
